He got six As and a B in his National 5 exams at Springburn Academy in Glasgow.

The 15 year-old and his brother Areeb, 13, left Pakistan in 2012 with their parents, Maqsood and Parveen Bakhsh, after the murder of two Christians in Pakistan.

Their father, Maqsood Bakhsh, said the culprits have also targeted him and would kill his family if they had the chance.

They have been fighting for their right to stay with the help of the Church of Scotland.

A petition to support their case in Glasgow was started by local vicar Rev Linda Pollock from Possilpark Parish Church.

The MP for Glasgow North East, Paul Sweeney, also stepped in and the petition now has 81,456 signatures.

Somer said: “Above all, I want to thank God who helped me to stay focused on my studies in the midst of these tough times.”
