Brighton churches to have mass 531ft in air

The High Mass, or iMass, will be celebrated on the seafront tower by the congregations and fathers of The Annunciation, St Bartholomew, St Martin, St Michael and All Angels and St Paul. 

They are a collective of churches known as The Wagner Group; a Catholic group that has a strong connections with the Church of England’s history too. 

They’ll ascend at 9:30am on 8th September and will be offering prayers for all the people of Brighton and Hove and raising funds for their community projects.

It’s been arranged with the permission of the i360 group, who want to support the work of many local community charities.  

It costs £15 per person, in which the church member will get a trip to the top followed by a bacon or mushroom roll and tea and coffee. 

Fr Norbury, vicar of St Michael’s, the parish in which the i360 can be found said: “Since their foundation, Saint Michael’s and Saint Paul’s have witnessed to Father Wagner’s vision of an artistic cultural movement with the faith at its heart. It seems fitting that the newest and most iconic representation of this movement – the i360 – should be assumed into this vision. The i360 provides inspiring views of our beautiful city and through our worship together it will provide a vision of heaven too”.
