FIRE SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 61:1-7

MEMORY VERSE: “Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.” – Isaiah 62:4

The MESSAGE:

The promise of “beauty for ashes” is a promise to God’s people that He planned to deliver them from their plight and to send them the Messiah. It is a beautiful promise you can claim as a Christian if you are facing difficult circumstances.

In Bible times, it was customary for people to sit in ashes or cover themselves with ashes to express mourning or loss, such as grief over a distressing situation (2 Samuel 13:19), grief over national disaster (Esther 4:1), or grief associated with repentance from one’s own sin (Jonah 3:5-7). Ashes were therefore associated with pain, loss and suffering.

God wants to give you beauty for ashes. He is the only One who can bring beauty out of the ashes of your life. Ashes are the wounded parts of your life. If your heart has been broken or someone has wounded you deeply, God can pick up your broken pieces and make you whole again. Note that this promise is specifically for those who dwell in Zion (believers in Christ). God said He is going to take your difficult, disgusting, depressing and horrible situation and give you beauty. He is going to pick you up out of the ash pile and make something beautiful out of your life and destiny. He can and will do what He says He will do. Just believe Him, the just shall live by faith!

MORNING
1. Father, I thank You for Your faithfulness, in the name of Jesus.
2. O Lord, give me beauty for ashes, in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord, do something new and glorious in my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I trade my sorrow for the joy of the Lord, in the name of Jesus.
5. Pain and anguish in my life, give way to peace and comfort, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, beautify my life and destiny, in the name of Jesus.
7. The glory of God, manifest in my life, in the name of Jesus.
