Real-World Witches Are Upset at Trump’s Use of ‘Witch Hunt’



Real-world witches are upset at President Trump’s use of the phrase “witch hunt,” which he often tweets in reference to the Mueller investigation. 


David Salisbury, author of the book Witchcraft Activism, calls use of the term “really disgraceful.”


“Thousands of people were executed in Europe on suspicion of witchcraft,” Salisbury told CNN, which ran a tongue-in-cheek segment by Jeanne Moos on the subject. Salisbury is initiated into Wicca, which is considered a religion.


Nineteen people were executed during the Salem witch trials in colonial Massachusetts


“A total WITCH HUNT with massive conflicts of interest!” Trump Tweeted in early 2018.


One unidentified witch told CNN, “There’s a lot to be offended by by Donald Trump. … His use of the term ‘witch hunt’ is very low on that list of priorities for most witches. But nevertheless, it does demonstrate his ignorance, as usual.” 


Salisbury said witches are divided on Trump’s terminology. 


“Many are mad, and the rest are rolling their eyes,” he told The Daily Beast. 


One of those who is upset is witch and author Kitty Randall.


“To have him compare his situation to the worst period in our history is just infuriating,” Randall told The Daily…
