Christian Post Report – James Cameron’s epic sci-fi movie “Avatar” will soon be followed by three more sequels, with “Avatar 2” scheduled to hit movie theaters by the year’s end of 2016.
The action adventure science fiction epic Na’vi film, “Avatar,” which grossed $2.7 billion in the box office, has scheduled a release of its first sequel, “Avatar 2” on December 2016, with two additional sequels planned for release in December 2017 and December 2018.
Three years after the first film, “Avatar 2” follows the lives of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Zaldana) as they explore Polyphemus’ other moons. Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), whose human body died in the first film, will be making a return appearance in all three of the sequels.
According to creator, James Cameron, an extensive part of “Avatar 2” involves footage shot underwater, and viewers should expect the humans to make a dangerous nuisance of themselves with major antagonist, Col. Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) to be present in “Avatar 2” despite his character being killed off in the first movie.
All three sequels were shot back to back, with “Avatar 4” announced to be a prequel set 35 years prior to the events in the first film, where an earlier colonization of Pandora will begin the storyline.
With American science fiction author and “Jumper” writer Steven Gould announced to be penning all four books to be based on the original movie and sequels, Cameron has also indicated all three of the succeeding movies have been shot on location in New Zealand, with a world premiere for one of them to be held in Wellington.
“Avatar 2” and the two movies following it have been produced by Cameron and Jon Landau via their Lightstorm Entertainment film production company.
