Churchgoers ‘lost £500,000’ after collapse of Christian musical planned for Wembley Arena

It is estimated 30 people in Mansfield Woodhouse are still collectively owned the sum after they give cash to help stage ‘Heaven on Earth’.

Some leaders from the village’s International Church created Eden International Productions Limited to stage the production.

But the musical ran out of money after accumulating debts of £2.6 million. The show went bust in late 2017, just weeks before the first performance was due to take place.

Yessika Oakley, 34, said her family contributed thousands of pounds towards the project.

She told the BBC: “They weren’t asking for £5, they were asking for large amounts of money from people that didn’t have much.

“But because they did it in the name of God, they were put under the pressure that if you didn’t give, you’re not being faithful and God isn’t going to be very happy with you.”

Information kept by the Government’s registrar of companies confirm the production company is undergoing “liquidation”.

A six-month tour of ‘Heaven on Earth’ had been scheduled – with venues including the Wembley Arena in London.

Singer, Russell Watson was among those who had agreed to take part, along with a 30-strong cast.

The International Church has since closed.

One of the musical’s directors told the BBC they were sorry for everyone who had lost out but insisted it “was always stressed there was no…

Gay priest ‘exchanging letters with jailed extremist Abu Hamza’

In one note, Rev Stephen Coles (pictured below, second in from the right) was invited by the radical cleric to visit him at the so-called supermax Florence jail (pictured) near Colorado Springs.

The vicar of St Thomas the Apostle Church in north London described fondly a summer holiday he took to Spain in another.

He was quoted by the Sunday Times as saying: “One of the oddest things in my life is that I have this odd relationship with somebody like Hamza.

“But better that I should have an odd relationship with him than nobody should have any relationship with him.”

Hamza, who was sentenced to life in prison by a court an American court in 2015 for supporting terrorism, is a former Iman of Finsbury Park mosque – close to Rev Coles’ church.

The two men first came into contact when Rev Coles confronted Hamza after he publicly praised the actions of those behind the September 11th terror attacks in 2001

They went on to stay in touch, with Rev Coles visiting Hamza at Belmarsh prison during a legal battle over whether the Egyptian should be extradited to the US to face trial.

The pair lost contact when Hamza was extradited in 2012. That was until Hamza contacted him last year.

Royal wedding bishop Michael Curry punishes bishop who opposed gay weddings

The Presiding Bishop of the US Episcopal Church imposed an immediate partial ban on the ministry of the Bishop of Albany in New York and warned a canonical offence may have been committed.

It comes after William Love wrote to churches within his diocese, saying he did not support a resolution which allowed clergy to conduct same-sex ceremonies even if their bishops disagreed.

Bishop Michael Curry said: “While I am persuaded of the sincerity and good will of Bishop Love in these difficult circumstances, I am convinced that Resolution B012 was intended by the Convention to be mandatory and binding upon all our dioceses…

“I am therefore persuaded that, as Presiding Bishop, I am called upon to take steps to ensure that same-sex marriage in The Episcopal Church is available to all persons to the same extent and under the same conditions in all Dioceses of the Church where same-sex marriage is civilly legal.”

Bishop William Love (pictured below) is not allowed to discipline clergy who participate in same-sex weddings, under the restriction. The limitation will be ongoing until the matter is resolved, Bishop Michael Curry said.

Diocese of Albany

In his November 2018 letter, Bishop William Love said the same-sex marriage rites approved by The Episcopal Church’s governing body “shall not be used anywhere in the Diocese of Albany by diocesan…

We must challenge belief in Jesus’ physical resurrection, C of E leader claims

Dr John Shepherd’s appointment last week as interim director of the Anglican Centre in Rome affectively makes him the Church of England’s representative to the Holy See.

But his suitability for the role has been questioned after video footage emerged of him appearing to question the traditional Christian understanding of Christ being raised from the death.

During a sermon delivered in Easter 2008, he said: “The resurrection of Jesus ought not to be seen in physical terms, but as a new spiritual reality.

“It is important for Christians to be set free from the idea that the resurrection was an extraordinary physical event which restored to life Jesus’ original earthly body.”

The comments – made when the Dr John was dean of St George’s Cathedral in Perth, Western Australia – attracted criticism from the Anglican evangelical group Church Society.

Director, Dr Lee Gatiss wrote on Twitter: ” We need clergy who actually believe that Jesus rose again from death – so basic!”

Dr John Shepherd continued: “…Jesus’ early followers felt His presence after His death as strongly as if it were a physical presence and incorporated this sense of a resurrection experience into their gospel accounts.

“But they’re not historical records as we would expect history to be written today; they are symbolic images of the breaking through of the resurrection spirit into human lives.

Hull Minster’s vicar ‘staggered’ by 1,500% rise in visitors

Figures reveal remarkable growth since 2009 – when leaders feared dwindling congregations and reserves might force the landmark to close.

Dr Neal Barnes said: “When we get visitors coming through, it’s an opportunity to build a relationship. It’s an opportunity for people to have an encounter with Jesus even if they’re quite sure that’s what they’re getting…

“Therefore, from those relationships, you do start to build an outreach programme, an opportunity for discipleship and bringing people to faith.”

Approximately 225,000 visited or attended events at the 14th century church – while only 14,000 guests were recorded in 2010.

Exhibitions proved particularly successful for Hull Minster, with 82,000 people coming to see a seven-metre lunar model installed as part of the Museum of the Moon attraction.

A further 25,000 and 20,000 people attended the Ship of the Gods installation and an Armistice Day ceremony respectively.

While Hull Minster is still expects to report a “high five-figure” deficit this year, the uptick in interested among visitors has boosted donations.

TREM Devotional 13 January 2019 – You Are Not A Failure

Topic: You Are Not A Failure [TREM Devotional 13 January 2019]

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3 KJV

God ordained it ever before you were born that whatever you lay your hands on must succeed. So how dare you accept defeat? Beloved, you are not a failure. Even if you once failed, get up again and keep going. Yes, the enemy would do his work because that is his job. If he doesn’t do his job, then he is no longer the enemy. The Bible says ‘the thief cometh not but to steal, kill and destroy, but I am come that you may have life and have it abundantly.’

The Bible says that the barren shall keep house and be the joyful mother of children. So, don’t factor on the doctor’s report; rather, factor on God’s report. You must begin to factor on who you are in Christ. How dare you join the rest to say that you are cursed? Who would say that you are cursed when God has blessed you? ‘You are blessed’ means anywhere you go even if that place was cursed; because of you, things will begin to change. The Word of God says “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away and all things have become new”. You are a brand-new species of being that has not existed before.

What the devil has against you is your ignorance. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Meditate on the Word. Eat the Word and digest it. The Word of the Lord says many are the afflictions of the righteous. Therefore, when affliction begins to come, and they are many; just know how it will end. The Lord will deliver you from them all. That means you are coming out! There is nothing the devil can do about it. Let him bring his best shot, you are coming out. Others may not, but you are coming out.

MFM Daily Devotional 13 January 2019 – A Word of Caution to Parents

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 13 January 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – A Word of Caution to Parents

TOPIC: A Word of Caution to Parents (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 13 January 2019)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 5:20-27

Bible In One Year: Genesis 31-32; Matthew 9:18-38

MEMORY VERSE: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children‘s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” – Proverbs 13:22

The MESSAGE:

The lap of Delilah was Samson’s undoing. Attraction for Babylonian attires and stealing were Achan’s undoing. The love of money and betrayal were Judas’ undoing. Lying to the Holy Spirit was the undoing of Ananias and Saphira. Each of these people: Samson, Achan, Judas, Ananias and Saphira left bad names and image for their relatives, spouses and children. Little wonder many people would not name their children after these and other infamous characters in the Bible.

Parents, be careful what you do and how you live your life. Many parents made unpardonable errors that put generations yet unborn in their ancestral line in bondage and shame.

We humans have very good sense of history. There are still families today that some other families will say, “My children will never marry from that family”. When the reason for such declaration is sought, you would hear things like, “Their forefathers were thieves, whoremongers, murderers, etc.” Such ancestors have laid a bad platform or foundation for their children. Their sons and daughters will find it difficult to get spouses in their town where their stories are known. Thank God for Christianity and the power of the gospel.

Beloved parent and grandparent, be careful what you do. Remember that the consequence of evil will go beyond the doer and affect generations yet unborn. Similarly, the reward of your good deeds will outlive you and be enjoyed by generations yet unborn in your lineage. Therefore, choose to do good today. Show love to others. Help them and let your report be a good one.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
DO WHAT IS RIGHT, NOT WHAT IS EASY.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your children shall not become misfired arrows.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Every trap of the enemy, set for me or any member of my family, scatter, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Every curse in my ancestral lineage, die, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Every spirit of lying in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. Every mistake made by my forefathers, be erased, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Unpardonable errors that put generations in bondage and shame, my generation is not your candidate, die, in the name of Jesus.
  6. O God, arise, make me an instrument of peace to my generation, in Jesus’ name.
  7. In your mercy, Lord, forgive all the atrocities committed by my forefathers, in the name of Jesus.

DCLM Daily Manna 13 January 2019 – Find A Reason To Sing!

Topic: Find A Reason To Sing! [DCLM Daily Manna 13 January 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Exodus 4:27-31 (KJV)

Key Verse: “I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:6).

MESSAGE:

It is usually difficult for most people to sing and praise God when they go through difficulties or disappointments in life. But not so with David. At the moment in his life, he sounded utterly exhausted and unable to bear his afflictions anymore. He was hopeless and helpless. It was as if God had abandoned him: He had been silent despite his incessant prayers and petitions. These were the realities surrounding him, David still found a reason to trust God rather than doubt and sink in despair. What really encouraged him to praise God? He remembered God’s mercies and bountiful dealings with him in the past. Remembered that God loved him and he decided to trust in the steadfastness of His love. Though he was yet to see an immediate respite to his sufferings, he knew His love would never fail. This gave him a reason to sing.

Regardless of our circumstances, we must appreciate the fact that God loves us. And because He does, He thinks and cares about our circumstances. Never mind that it may appear He is far away and does not seem to hear your cries. Never mind it may seem the enemy is about overrunning you. Instead, think about the ways He has shown His love to you in times past. Think about your salvation and the numerous mercies and grace you have received in the past. The present won’t to be different because God’s love is steadfast and unchanging.

So, join the Psalmist today to “…sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with (you)”.

Thought For The Day: God’s love for His own will never fail!.
