Topic: Don’t Keep God Away [DCLM Daily Manna Friday June 29, 2018]

Text: Psalm 107:1-9 (KJV)

Key Verse: “They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in” (Psalm 107:4).

MESSAGE:

Billionaire founder of Microsoft Corporations, Bill Gates, was criticised by Christians across the globe when he made this comment: “…In terms of allocation of time resources, religion is not very efficient. There’s a lot more I could be doing on a Sunday morning”. To him, going to church on Sunday to worship and serve God in truth and in spirit is a waste of time.

As humans, we try to solve our problems ourselves and keep God away until the situation is aggravated.

When the situation further worsens, and life is now at risk, we begin to cry unto God for deliverance. The people involved in the Bible passage for today appeared to have started a journey attempting to cross the wilderness into a city of habitation without asking for guidance or direction. Missing their way in the vast wilderness, they wandered from place to place, but in their pride and self-confidence, they kept relying on their human intellect until they became hungry and thirsty and their souls fainted within them. That was when they called upon God, who in His mercy delivered and revived them, leading them to the city of habitation.

Many people have discovered that their keep-God-away attitude is a recipe for paralysis, because man was created by God and depends on Him for his sustenance. But many times, we want to run our “show” ourselves. We believe going to church and worshipping God is a waste of time. Therefore, we go to work for extra pay on Sundays. We trust in our wisdom, training and money to solve every problem that confronts us until we get into a problem that our money and knowledge cannot solve. We should make God our companion at all times by regularly fellowshipping in His presence and seeking the counsel in His word in every situation we find ourselves.

Thought For The Day: Seek God while He may be found.

Topic: You Have What You Say [TREM Devotional Friday June 29, 2018]

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23

Yesterday we looked at the Power in the Word of God. If you understand the Power in the Word of God, then you will be able to exercise your authority as a believer because it is the same infallible Word that says to you whatever you speak will come to pass.

If you really understand the scripture above, then you will watch what you say. Your words have all the power it takes to deliver results, but because you are ignorant of the potency of the Word of God, you also walk in ignorance of the potency of your words. Have you forgotten that you are gods, children of the Most High? Have you forgotten that as He is, so are you? It is time to wake up to your responsibility as a believer.

For too long we have relied on the Pastor to speak over our lives, when God expects you to be the extension of Him. Thank God for the Pastors, their work is to build you up, but your work is to represent God wherever you are. Don’t sit down on the pew and fold your hands expecting the Pastor to perform. Perform what? They are not magicians. You are the extension of God in your world. Anywhere you are, be the god they see. Speak with confidence and Heaven will back you up. When you speak, believing in your words, it will come to pass.

I challenge you to watch what you say. Don’t just throw words around; be the Ambassador of God to your world.

Topic: The Restorative Power Of Light [Seeds of Destiny Friday June 29, 2018]

Scripture: Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? Luke 15:8

Thought For The Day: Missing things are restored in the presence of light.

It has been confirmed that one reason God created you is so you can be light to your generation (Matthew 5:14-16). All the identifiable attributes and benefits of light are the profits we were created by God to add to our generation as children of God.

Yesterday, we saw that light is critical to generational transformation.
Today, it is very important to add that light is critical for generational restoration. Anywhere something is missing, all you need to do is light the place. Our anchor Scripture reveals a woman who recovered her lost coin because she lit her candle.

So, light equals restoration, wherever light is available, things are not permitted to be missing. Missing things are restored in the presence of light. Light equals generational restoration. So, when you appear in a place, the things missing in people’s life should be found – someone whose joy, peace, favour, health, vision and direction were lost should be found because of your presence.

One of the worst things that can happen to anyone is to be the reason for losses in the lives of people; that is, people lose their joy or peace as soon as you appear. It is a tragedy to live a life where things are subtracted from peoples’ lives because of their encounter with you. When you live like this, you become a burden, concern, liability or minus factor. There are people who are plus factors because they add something positive to your life. You are designed as well to be a plus factor in your class, a plus factor to your family and neighbourhood.

My counsel is, let people feel the impact of your existence; decide to handle the challenges of your neighbourhood or community even if no one cares or does anything about them. Take your position as the leading light of your generation; let your excellent life rebuke the average existence of people, and you will see God do great things through you.

Remember this: Missing things are restored in the presence of light.

1. Live to be a plus factor in people’s lives,
2. Let people experience restoration because of the impact of your life.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You make me a restorer and a plus factor to my generation. Let people’s lives be upgraded because of Your grace and light in me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land. – Isaiah 1:19

A healthy body. Enough money to pay all your bills and extra to invest in the work of the gospel. A godly marriage and happy, healthy children. Peace of mind. God has prepared a banquet full of blessings for you.

But those blessings are not just going to fall in your lap. You must be willing—as well as obedient—if you’re going to eat the best from God’s table.

So, be willing!

Don’t be willing for Satan to put sickness on your body. Be willing, instead, to be well! In honor of Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary, refuse to accept anything less than divine health.

Don’t be willing to live in lack, but be willing instead to live in divine prosperity and abundance. Refuse to allow Satan to stop the flow of God’s financial blessings to you.

Be willing to receive God’s best plan for your marriage and your children. Don’t settle for the norms of the world. Live above them in a home full of love and harmony, a home that is what God meant it to be.

Don’t allow Satan to substitute anxiety and ulcers for the peace and undisturbedness that Jesus bought for you. Be willing and obedient to cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.

Refuse to be robbed of the banquet of blessings that has belonged to you since you became a believer. Be willing to eat the good of the land!

I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 2 John 1:5

My children and I have started a new daily practice. Every night at bedtime, we gather colored pencils and light a candle. Asking God to light our way, we get out our journals and draw or write answers to two questions: When did I show love today? and When did I withhold love today?

Loving our neighbors has been an important part of the Christian life “from the beginning” (2 John 1:5). That’s what John writes in his second letter to his congregation, asking them to love one another in obedience to God (2 John 1:5–6). Love is one of John’s favorite topics throughout his letters. He says that practicing real love is one way to know that we “belong to the truth,” that we’re living in God’s presence (1 John 3:18–19). When my kids and I reflect, we find that in our lives love takes shape in simple actions: sharing an umbrella, encouraging someone who is sad, or cooking a favorite meal. The moments when we’re withholding love are equally practical: we gossip, refuse to share, or satisfy our own desires without thinking of others’ needs.

Paying attention each night helps us be more aware each day, more tuned in to what the Spirit might be showing us as we walk through our lives. With the Spirit’s help, we’re learning to walk in love (2 John 1:6).

Prayer: Lord, let us not love just in words, but in actions and in truth. Teach us to be obedient to Your call to love.

Topic: Grow In Grace [Andrew Wommack Friday June 29, 2018]

Luke 9:55 “But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.”

Text: Luke 9:54-56

Jesus was constantly being accused of breaking the law of Moses. He taught differently than the law of Moses (Mt. 5:21-48), and now He rebukes His disciples for desiring to do what an Old Testament prophet did with God’s blessing and power. However, Jesus didn’t come to destroy the law but to fulfill it.

Jesus came not to destroy men’s lives but to save them (Jn. 3:16; 10:10).

“God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them” (2 Cor. 5:19). Jesus was just in doing this because He bore our sins (Isa. 53:4-6) and the accompanying wrath of God (Mt. 27:46; Heb. 2:9). Jesus didn’t reject God’s judgment against sin; He bore it (2 Cor. 5:21). Therefore, He was able to extend the grace and mercy of God to those who would have been doomed under the law of Moses (Acts 13:38-39).

The Old Testament law was like a judge passing sentence upon sin. Jesus became our advocate (or lawyer). Even more than that, He became our substitute, bearing “our sins in his own body on the tree” (1 Pet. 2:24).

He didn’t destroy God’s judgment; He fulfilled it in Himself, so that we could go free. This forever changed God’s dealings with sinful man. In light of what Jesus has done in the New Covenant, we would be rebuked for trying to release God’s wrath upon others as was done in the Old Covenant. Likewise, if Jesus would have been on the earth in His physical body, reconciling the world unto Himself in the days of Elijah, then Elijah would have been rebuked for his actions, as recorded in 2 Kings 1:9-15. There is a difference between Old Testament law and New Testament grace. “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (Jn. 1:17). Grow in grace.

During the war a church in Strasburg, Germany, was totally destroyed; but a statue of Christ which stood by the altar was almost unharmed. Only the hands of the statue were missing. When the church was rebuilt, a famous sculptor offered to make new hands; but, after considering the matter, the members decided to let it stand as it was—without hands. “For,” they said, “Christ has no hands but our hands to do His work on earth. If we don’t feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, entertain the stranger, visit the imprisoned, and clothe the naked, who will?” Christ is depending on us to do the very things which He did while upon earth. My friend, if the gospel we preach does not have a social application, if it will not work effectively in the work-a-day world, then it is not the Gospel of Christ.

Prayer for the day: I look at my hands, Lord Jesus, and ask You to use them this day. Make me conscious of the needs of those who hurt.

13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

14 And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

17 And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

27 And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.

MESSAGE:

It is amazing that not only are many leaders guilty of self-abuse by working more than is necessary, they are also guilty of stressing themselves out to the point of exhaustion, thereby leading to their untimely death. When God created man, He created us in His image and likeness and so we are expected to be like Him in many respects. One area we should resemble him is in the attribute of delegating responsibility. Genesis 2:15 & 19 reveals how God readily delegated the responsibility of keeping the Garden of Eden and the naming of animals to Adam. There is no monopoly of responsibility in the attributes of God. We need to begin to emulate God by sharing and delegating responsibilities with our colleagues, subordinates and neighbours to avoid burning ourselves out and even killing ourselves.

In Exodus 18:13-27, Moses was taught the art of labour by his father-in-law, Jethro came visiting, he observed that Moses hardly had time to rest, because he was ever busy attending to every case brought to him by his people- even monitor cases that were domestic in nature. Although the reason Moses gave for this arrangement was genuine and good intentioned, Jethro pointed out the folly of what he was doing to him. In Exodus 18:17b-18, Jethro said:

“17b The thing that thou doest is not good. 18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. “

Jethro then taught him how to delegate his judicial responsibilities to elders who were able and capable. Moses heeded his advice and it worked: judgment was no longer delayed and Moses had time to take care of himself.

Members of the Body of Christ need to be willing to work, and their pastors need to be willing to prepare them to take responsibilities. Nevertheless, responsibilities must not be delegated carelessly. They should not be passed on to those who would destroy the work you have laboured so much for. In delegating responsibilities, adhere to what Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:2:

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

Apply this principle to your church, business and family and you will find rest for your soul.

Action Point: Join an empowerment program that will increase your effectiveness today.
