In the fall of 2013, the Rev. Teddy Parker Jr.’s wife found him in the driveway of their Warner Robins home in Georgia with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Many were stunned.
Parker never believed in suicide and often admonished his parishioners against it.
“I’m very surprised because he didn’t preach that. He preached totally against it. It’s something that the congregation don’t really understand,” Russell Rowland, a member of the Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, where Parker was leader, said at the time.
“Everybody is just kind of stunned right now. I think a lot of people are just trying to understand why that happened. We’re just praying to the Lord for guidance on this,” he said.
A few months after Parker’s death in April 2014, then pastor of Community Bible Church in High Point, North Carolina, Robert McKeehan, 42, was found hanging inside his home. He was the same age as Parker and was also a father of two.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is siding with Donald Trump saying that China isn’t playing fair when it comes to the car trade with the United States. In a series of tweets directed at the president, Musk cited China’s 25 percent import duty on American cars which is exponentially higher than the 2.5 percent the US charges for Chinese cars.
“Do you think the US & China should have equal & fair rules for cars? Meaning, same import duties, ownership constraints & other factors,” Musk tweeted in response to Trump’s post about the China trade deal. “I am against import duties in general, but the current rules make things very difficult. It’s like competing in an Olympic race wearing lead shoes.”

Trump later responded to Musk’s comments during his steel and aluminum tariff press conference. After reading Musk’s tweet out loud, Trump said that his administration will implement a “reciprocal tax program” at some point to even things out.
In a nutshell, the program will require countries to pay the same amount of taxes to what they are charging. So if China charges a 25 percent tariff for American goods, the US will also be charging the same amount for Chinese goods. Sources also said that Trump asked Beijing for a $100 million reduction in the US trade deficit.

The National People’s Congress’ nearly 3,000 hand-picked delegates endorsed the constitutional amendment on Sunday, voting 2,958 in favour with two opposed, three abstaining and one vote invalidated.
It means President Xi Jinping can rule indefinitely.
Benedict Rogers, East Asia team leader at religious freedom charity Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) said the vote is an “extremely significant development, which will in all likelihood mean a continuing crackdown on human rights generally, and religious freedom in particular”.
He added: “The past five years since Xi Jinping became president have seen the most severe and widespread crackdown on human rights since the Tiananmen massacre of 1989.
“In particular we have seen the arrest and disappearance of human rights lawyers, many of whom are Christians or have been involved in defending religious freedom, and increasing restrictions on religious freedom, including the destruction of thousands of crosses in Zhejiang province, the destruction of several churches, increasing persecution of other religious groups such as Uighur Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists and Falun Gong, and the introduction of new regulations tightening rules on religious practice.”
