Trump hails Billy Graham as ‘America’s pastor’ receives rare Capitol tribute
President Donald Trump said his father was an admirer of Mr Graham’s and that the “legendary” American figure deserved to be recognised in the place “where the memory of the American people is enshrined”.
House speaker Paul Ryan said: “Here lies America’s pastor,” gesturing to Mr Graham’s casket under the eye of the dome, surrounded by family, friends, politicians and a ring of paintings of the nation’s founders.
“He ministered to all walks, from some of the greats whose statues line this hall – Eisenhower, King, Ford, and Reagan_to the everyday citizens lining up today to pay their respects.”
Senate majority Leader Mitch McConnell: “The man we recognise today shared the Gospel with more people, face-to-face, than anyone else in history.”

I’m in contact with a church in a mountain town in North Carolina considering taking me on as their replant pastor, but I’m not convinced they actually know what that means. They are a small group of about 30 people (half of them are family members), in the desperation stage before their death. How do I explain to them what a replant is, make it clear what changes need to take place before I commit, and evaluate if they truly are open to replanting or if they only think they are? The church is a stereotypical 1950’s mid-century building, small entry, pews to the back of the sanctuary and memorial plaques on almost every pew and door. Help!

It Can Shoot 710 Images in One Charge
Sony unveils new mirrorless camera A7 III, which boasts the longest-rated battery life of its kind. The basic full-frame model takes the best features of its recent predecessors, making it a camera to watch out for in 2018.
The A7 III features a 24.2-megapixel sensor with 5-axis optical image stabilization. It uses a BIONZ-X processor, which is 1.8 times faster than that of A7R III. Add to that the 693-point autofocus system and the upcoming model is set for any E-mount accessory.
With its advanced autofocus, the camera can shoot full resolution images at up to 10 frames per second in both RAW and JPEG formats. There will be no problem shooting in low-light settings as well as it backside illuminated sensor can reach an ISO of up to 204,800.
It also sports a quad-VGA 2.3 million dot OLED viewfinder.
As for video, Sony says the A7 III has a better autofocus compared to the A7R III as it experiences “wobble.” Apart from that, it can read out 4K videos in full sensor, while the predecessor only uses APS-C-sized chunk of the sensor. Using full frame in the A7R III would result in less-sharp footage.
The camera has 4K HDR internal capability. It can be recorded at 24p from a 6K region of the sensor. Users can also opt for 30p shooting from a roughly 5K region using a 1.2x crop. It is also capable of shooting high-speed videos at 120 frames per second at 1080p. For more cinematic footage, there is an option to capture using color profiles S-Log 2 and 3.
Like the A9, the A7 III has a “My Menu” tab that allows photographers to save the regular settings they use and save a lot…

Presbyterian Church in Canada Issues ‘Letter of Repentance’ to LGBT Community
A leader with the Presbyterian Church in Canada has issued a “letter of repentance” to the LGBT community over the denomination’s purported mistreatment of sexual minorities.
The Rev. Peter Bush, moderator of the PCC’s 143rd General Assembly, which was held last year, wrote in the letter that “we are all harmed” by homophobia.
“No one should ever be harmed for naming their sexual identity. We live in a culture and a world where LGBT persons are bullied, brutalized and sometimes killed,” said Bush.
“Presbyteries and sessions fail to hold church members and church leaders accountable for their hateful acts. For our failure to protect those attacked and brutalized, we are sorry, and we repent. For our ongoing failure to hold people accountable for abuse and hatred, we are sorry, and we repent.”
Bush also said that the church “creates hurt, fear and distrust among LGBT persons who are part of the church” by both past inaction and action.

CBS Hopes Viewers Will Want to Watch, if Not Live, ‘Biblically’
A rabbi and priest walk into a bar because a lapsed Catholic has decided he should really try “Living Biblically” before he becomes a father.
That is the premise and the title of a new CBS sitcom that premiered Monday (Feb. 26). Based loosely on “The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible,” the 2007 best-selling book by A.J. Jacobs, the show follows a journalist named Chip (Jay R. Ferguson, of “Mad Men” fame) as he tries to live by all the shalts and shalt nots of the Old Testament with the help of his local rabbi (David Krumholtz) and priest (Ian Gomez), who are best friends.
CBS hopes viewers will have the same response the show’s Father Gene has when Chip shows up in his confessional to announce his decision: uproarious laughter.
“Are you high?” the priest then asks.
The 13-episode season tackles lying (does God hate even a white lie?), adultery (to stone or not to stone?), honoring one’s parents (even if they’re bad parents?) and submitting (or not) to one’s husband. There’s even an episode where Chip and his atheist mother-in-law tackle faith versus science and wind up respecting each other.

Virginia Baptist Association No Longer Giving Money to CBF Over New LGBT Hiring Policy
The Baptist General Association of Virginia has announced that it will no longer directly provide funds to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship after the 1,800-church network changed its policy to allow the hiring of practicing homosexuals for staff positions.
The BGAV, which consists of over 1,400 autonomous churches throughout the commonwealth and worldwide, will stop facilitating cooperative giving to the CBF. The association will now require its affiliated churches with a giving relationship to CBF to provide contributions directly to the CBF national office.
Previously, churches could contribute to CBF through giving to the BGAV Cooperative Program.
“The Executive Board believes this action serves the BGAV, while respecting CBF,” a BGAV statement reads.
The decision was finalized during a BGAV executive board meeting on Monday in Henrico.
“The Virginia Baptist Executive Board regrets it has had to address the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s approval of the Illumination Project Committee’s report permitting the hiring of LGBT personnel for certain staff positions in the organization,” a BGAV statement released on Monday explains. “Though the BGAV respects CBF’s right to change its hiring…

Film backed by Christian charity nominated for an Oscar
Watu Wote: All of us, which was part-funded by Christian humanitarian charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) via the production company Catholic Radio and Television Network (CRTN), has been short-listed for the Best Short Film (Live Action).
The film is based on tragic events in north-east Kenya in December 2015 and tells the story of how armed Al-Shabab militants stormed a bus and demanded the Muslims identify Christians on board.
When the Muslims refused to comply, the jihadists opened fire, killing at least one Muslim on the bus. Another Muslim who was injured during the attack died later.
The Muslims on the bus that day were determined to avoid a repeat of a similar incident in November 2014 when Al-Shabab killed 28 Christians on board a bus having separated them from Muslim passengers.
The incident took place near the border with Somalia which remains a stronghold of Al-Shabab, a terror group closely allied with Al-Qaeda.
