The headline shocked me: “Billy Graham’s nephew isn’t mourning his passing.” I was afraid that journalists had found a disgruntled family member who would disparage Dr. Graham’s legacy.
It turns out, the opposite is true.
Deryl Graham is the son of Billy Graham’s brother. Deryl told reporters that the man he called “Uncle Billy” was the same person in private as he was in public:
“People who saw him on TV or during one of his crusades might think there’s no way he could be that good and straightforward in real life. But he was. He was meek, and he was honest, and he was pure.”
He said his family wasn’t mourning and was actually glad to see his uncle released from a body that had begun to fail him. “He’s been ready to go for quite some time,” Graham said. “He told us not long ago that he didn’t believe the Lord wanted him to see his 100th birthday on this earth.”
Deryl’s wife, Nova Graham, agreed that their family wasn’t grieving Dr. Graham’s death in the way that people might think. “We are so happy for him,” she said. “He finally gets to be with his two great loves: the Lord and Ruth.”
“‘Must’ is the word”
A survey released on Monday ranked Abraham Lincoln as our greatest president, followed by George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson. The scholars’ opinion of our greatest president is not surprising. As one historian noted, “No President in American history ever faced a greater crisis and no President ever accomplished as much.”

David and Louse Turpin are scheduled to appear in a courtroom in Riverside for a conference about their case.
They have pleaded not guilty to torture and other charges and each is held on 12 million US dollars (£8.6 million) bail.
The couple were arrested in January after their 17-year-old daughter escaped from the family’s home in Perris, California, and called emergency services.
Authorities said the home reeked of human waste and evidence of starvation was obvious, with the oldest sibling weighing less than six stone (37kg).
The case drew international media attention and shocked neighbours who said they rarely saw the couple’s 13 children outside the home.
Those who saw the children recalled them as skinny, pale and reserved.
Authorities said the abuse had been going on for so long that the children’s growth was stunted.
They said the couple shackled the children to furniture as punishment and made them live a nocturnal lifestyle.

David’s parents, James and Betty Turpin, told ABC News they were “surprised and shocked” by the allegations and could understand “any of it”.

Andrew Birks, who was ordained a Church of England priest last year, was one of five officers investigated after 40-year-old Sean Rigg collapsed and died at Brixton police station in August 2008.
Mr Rigg, who had paranoid schizophrenia, was arrested in Balham and taken to the station in a police van driven by Mr Birks.
At an inquest in 2012 jurors found the primary cause of Mr Rigg’s death was cardiac arrest and were critical of the way he was restrained by police.
Mr Birks was suspended with pay during an investigation by the police watchdog and Metropolitan Police bosses refused to let him leave the force – because by doing so he could avoid any potential disciplinary proceedings.
London’s High Court heard on Thursday the IOPC, previously the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), initially concluded Mr Birks had no case to answer over Mr Rigg’s death.
Sean Rigg who died in custody in 2008, as Andrew Birks, one of five officers that have been investigated over the death of Rigg has claimed that his prolonged suspension is unlawful.
But the watchdog renewed its investigation following the inquest and his resignation, which had previously been accepted by senior officers, was blocked.

The upcoming “Battlefield” 2018 will be available to try out at the Electronic Arts (EA) Play happening in June.
EA announced on Thursday that the “next ‘Battlefield’ experience” will be at hand and playable at the event ahead of its release, which has been previously confirmed for October 2018.
There is still very little known about the yet-to-be titled “Battlefield.” Rumors point to a couple of possibilities. Some say it could be a “Battlefield Bad Company 3” or a game based on “World War 2.”
From a December report, however, it looks like DICE Sweden’s “WW2” game will be released first this 2018, to be followed by “Bad Company 3” in 2019.
As for gameplay, fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out how it goes, but the good thing is they would be able to try it out. The next “Battlefield” will be playable at EA Play 2018, which will be held at Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles from June 9, Saturday, to June 11, Monday.
According to EA, it will introduce “a new system to give you better hands on access to your favorite games.” EA Play will happen ahead of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which kicks off on June 12 at the LA Convention Center.
EA Play used to be among the highlights of E3, but has decided to opt out of it in recent years saying E3 has become more consumer-based. The American gaming company hopes to keep the focus on the experience.
