While Samsung has yet to officially announce its Galaxy S9, a recent supposed render of the device has leaked online, and it has given rise to speculations that the upcoming device will maintain the headphone jack.

With Apple ditching the headphone jack beginning its iPhone 7, many speculated that it won’t take long for Samsung to follow suit and get rid of the feature as well. However, with the leak of a render alleged to be that of the Galaxy S9, it is now believed that the upcoming device will still keep the headphone jack.

As seen on the leak of the supposed Samsung Galaxy S9 render, the jack phone feature of the yet-to-be announced mobile device is located at its bottom left corner. While some can’t help but be skeptical as there is no way of telling if the render is legit or not, some believe that it is really the case as the image was leaked by Evan Blass, who has a track record for accurate leaks.

Meanwhile, the render Bass leaked is also considered a confirmation that the Galaxy S9’s DeX dock will be flat and will be unlike its predecessor that looked like a traditional dock. Russia authorities have arrested a number of scientists at one of the country’s top-secret nuclear warhead facilities after they allegedly tried to mine Bitcoin using its supercomputer. The facility’s security was alerted after the computer attempted to connect to the internet, something it was not intended to do so.

“There has been an unsanctioned attempt to use computer facilities for private purposes including so-called mining,” a spokesperson for the Federal Nuclear Center in Sarov, Western Russia told Interfax News Agency. “Their activities were stopped in time. As far as we are aware, a criminal case has been launched against them.”

The Federal Nuclear Center is overseen by Rosatom, the Russian nuclear agency. During the Cold War, USSR’s first nuclear bomb was produced at Sarov, during Joseph Stalin’s rule. The top-secret town is not marked on Soviet maps and special permits are still required for Russians to visit it.

In 2011, the center launched its new supercomputer with a capacity of 1 petaflop, allowing it to undertake one thousand trillion operations per second. However, the computer was not intended to be connected to the internet preventing it from mining the cryptocurrency. Following the attempted mining operation, the employees were handed over to the Russian Federal Security Service.

Rumors say the highly anticipated NVIDIA Ampere GeForce graphics processing unit (GPU) is arriving soon.

According to various reports, the Ampere GPU will be released by April. The news was first revealed by German website 3D Center, which said NVIDIA hopes to replace the GP102 Pascal chip with the first generation Ampere GA104 GPU this year. To add to that, reports say the GP102 has reached the end-of-Life status, which means all production for the device has stopped.

Sources told the media outlet that the only rumored GPU will finally be revealed either at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in mid-March or at the GPU Technology Conference later that month.

Ampere is the next generation GPU from NVIDIA, which is reportedly creating new graphic cards as well, to match the GPU. A GA104 is expected to start production this month. This should lead to other new cards for the GeForce GTX 2000 series. Initially, this will be consisting of GTX 2070 and GTX 2080.

Further rumors say not only one Ampere GPU will be released within the next year. After GA104 for the GTX 2080 and 2070 arrives in April, it will be followed by a GA106 for the GTX 2060 come summer. By early 2019, a GA102 is expected to arrive for a new Titan card or the GTX20180Ti.

Rumors say the “Final Fantasy 7” remake will be delayed amid recent massive changes in Square Enix’s role-playing game.

Following the “Final Fantasy” 30th Anniversary celebration of the science fiction franchise, fans who attended the event revealed that Square Enix made huge design changes in several characters through brand new screens. They were also surprised by the appearance of director Tetsuya Nomura.

One of such characters is Cloud Strife, who reportedly now looks more like its original version first released in 1997. Older fans would remember that he was a bit of a dork.

According to one fan in the audience, Nomura and development leader Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed this by saying, “While Cloud may look this way, he was a dork. I believe those of you who played the original would understand what I mean by saying he’s a dorky character.”

Hamaguchi reportedly got the thumbs up from Nomura for the back to basics design of the Buster Sword-wielding hero, who is expected to show his fun side in the upcoming remake.

Fans also noted that some members of Avalanche, the rebel group that hires Cloud as a mercenary, also received a new look. Fans noted that Biggs looked “super handsome,” while Jessie was described as “cute” and Wedge as “refreshingly chubby.”
