Chip and Joanna Gaines Having Too Many Kids? Feminist Says Population Control Worth Revisiting

(Photo: HGTV/Fixer Upper)Fixer Upper’s Chip and Joanna Gaines

HGTV’s Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are being irresponsible, a feminist argued, since having “too many” children threatens the planet. And though population control is tied to troubling things, it is worth revisiting, she suggested.

The Gaineses, who announced recently that they are expecting their fifth child in an Instagram post, were heavily criticized on social media, a response that surprised feminist writer Kristen Pyszczyk, even though she concurs with their critics.

“Procreation is becoming a global public health concern, rather than a personal decision,” Pyszczyk asserted in a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation editorial Saturday, an article which argued that it ought not be taboo to slam people for having “too many” kids.

“While having a child or five is a very personal choice, it’s also a choice that affects everyone who inhabits our planet. So while many people might find the backlash [against Chip and Jo Gaines] unwarranted, it’s actually a conversation we need to have in order to challenge our uncritical acceptance of the life-fulfillment-through-procreation story.”

And even though population control is fraught with associations with “nasty historical events” and “eugenics,” it merits further discussion because it is “not an exaggeration to say that the survival of our species depends on it,” she went on to say.

Amid dire looming threats to the planet scientists like Steven Hawking warn are imminent, “the fact that people are starting to react to those who have many children is great, but we need to go…

Open Heavens 17 January 2018: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – God of Abundance

Open Heavens 17 January 2018: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – God of Abundance

Topic: God of Abundance [Open Heavens Wednesday 17th January 2018]

Memorise: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Read: Luke 5:1-7 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 36-37, Revelation 16

MESSAGE

The Lord revealed Himself to us as the God of abundance by declaring these profound words about Himself in Psalm 50:9-10:

9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds. 10 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.”

Having experienced the reality of this truth, Apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:19, penned these words to bear witness to the Lord’s capability as the God of abundance:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Through this scripture, the Holy Spirit also reveals to us that Jesus Christ is the channel through whom the abundance of God is made accessible. Why is this so? For you to understand the reason why, you need to know that Jesus Christ is the Living Word through whom all things were created. Hebrews 1:2 says this concerning Him:

“Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;”

This means that the earth and the fullness of it are His handwork – the handwork of the Word who became flesh (John 1:1-14). We can therefore get nothing in this world except through the Owner of it all. The story in our Bible text demonstrates that this material world is indeed at the disposal of the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter had toiled all night long, but he caught nothing in his fishing net. However, when the God of abundance released His word, there was a great catch.

Beloved, what are those needs that have been bothering your mind? Tell it to Jesus today. He is the God of abundance, and He is capable of meeting you at the points of your need. When He came to this world, He decided to become poor in your place so that His riches may come to you. The Bible, in 2 Corinthians 8:9, says,

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

The only situation that can prevent you from benefitting from the self-imposed poverty of the Lord Jesus Christ is your refusal to accept Him your Lord and Saviour, and your refusal to walk by His principles. I pray for you today that the abundant riches of God in Christ Jesus will be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point: Father, please meet me at the points of my need today according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Hymn 13: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might.
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above,
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all life thou givest, to both great and small
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.

4. Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight,
All laud we would render, O help us to see,
‘Tis only the splendour of light hideth Thee.

5. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Bolivia: Christians Fear New Law May Land Them in Jail

Bolivia: Christians Fear New Law May Land Them in Jail

Evangelicals in Bolivia say they are “deeply worried” about Bolivia’s new Penal Code, which could sentence evangelicals to up to 12 years in prison.

Christians are concerned the Penal Code, which Bolivian President Evo Morales is expected to approve, could lead to a ban on evangelism and “state abuse” against Christians.

The law warns against anyone who “”recruits, transports, deprives of freedom or hosts people with the aim of recruiting them to take part in armed conflicts or religious or worship organizations.” Those found guilty could face between five to 12 years in prison.

The National Association of Evangelicals in Bolivia has launched a National Emergency Commission that will analyze the impact of the new law.

“We express our most resolute rejection of the inclusion of our ministerial activities in the list of possible conducts that go against the law,” reads a statement by the group.

“The legislator forgets that the evangelical Christian churches in Bolivia are religious organizations recognized by the Bolivian state, and, therefore, legal entities.”

Many have already protested the new law at a march on Jan. 16 and evangelical churches in the country have scheduled a day of prayer and fasting for Jan. 21.

Bolivia is predominantly Roman Catholic, according to the Christian Post. Evangelicals and Pentecostals are about 8 percent of the population, which…

‘Good Christian’ parents accused of shackling, holding 13 children captive

A 17-year-old girl called police after escaping from her family’s California home where she and her 12 brothers and sisters were locked up, some so malnourished officers at first believed all were children even though seven are adults.

The girl, who was so small officers initially believed she was only 10, called 911 and was met by police who interviewed her and then went to the family home in Perris, about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

They found several children shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks in dark, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The children, ages two to 29, “appeared to be malnourished and very dirty,” according to officers who arrested the parents.

David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, each were held on $9 million (£6.5 million) bail and could face charges including torture and child endangerment.

David’s parents, James and Betty Turpin, told ABC News they were “surprised and shocked” by the allegations and could understand “any of it”.

They said that they are considered to be a good Christian family in their community and that added that “God called on them” to have as many children as they did.

The pair also said their grandchildren had “very strict homeschooling,” and they would memorise long passages of the Bible, some of them aimed to learn the entire Bible.

James and Betty told ABC News the…

Feminist Says Chip and Joanna Gaines are ‘Irresponsible’ for Having 5 Children

Feminist Says Chip and Joanna Gaines are ‘Irresponsible’ for Having 5 Children

Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines recently announced that they are pregnant with their fifth child. While the majority of viewers and fans shared the couple’s joy and congratulated them, a radical feminist recently wrote a piece in which she calls them “irresponsible.”

As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, Chip posted on Instagram: “Gaines party of 7.. (If you’re still confused.. WE ARE PREGNANT).”

Joanna also posted a video of the baby’s ultrasound on Twitter, captioning it, “@chipgaines swears he can already tell it’s a boy. Look at the little heartbeat!!”

Although the Gaineses are looking forward to taking a break from their TV show and focusing on their family, feminist Kristen Pyszczyk doesn’t share their happiness.

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that the survival of our species depends” on population control,” she wrote in an article published by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Even though population control “carries with it associations with eugenics and other nasty historical events…we still need to talk about it,” she continued.

“[W]omen need to be presented with options for a fulfilling life that don’t involve taking 20 years of their lives to care for offspring,” Pyszczyk added.

According to LifeSiteNews.com, she also said that people who have too many children should be…

Memphis Pastor Andy Savage Says He Offered to Resign Over Sexual Assault but Church Stood by Him

(Screenshot: Highpoint Church)Andy Savage, teaching pastor at Highpoint Church in Memphis, Tennessee, speaks to the congregation in January 2018.

Teaching Pastor Andy Savage of Highpoint Church in Memphis, Tennessee, says he offered to resign from his post when he publicly confessed a week ago to his congregation that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old while he was her youth pastor in Texas 20 years ago.

The revelation (of his offer to resign) was made in a previously deleted segment of an interview Savage did with conservative radio host Ben Ferguson last Thursday. Producers were forced to share the unedited interview Monday after abuse survivor advocate Amy Smith highlighted the discrepancy.

During the interview, Ferguson asked Savage why he didn’t simply resign as pastor since so many critics have been insisting that he step down because his church covered up the assault instead of reporting what he did to authorities.

When asked if he ever felt like quitting, Savage said: “Yes. On several occasions in the last few days, I have wanted to quit.”

Ferguson then asked Savage if he offered his resignation to the church and he replied: “Yes.”

“On, uh, Sunday [January 7, 2018], I offered to Chris [Conlee] that I would resign, if that was in the best interest of our church,”…

Church should have opening hours like C of E churches

Bishop Phillip complained on Twitter that when he went to visit churches outside his dioceses, he couldn’t because they were all closed.

A spokesman for the Catholic bishops in England and Wales told the Daily Telegraph that there isn’t a country-wide policy about keeping church doors open, but the decision is up to each bishop.

The Church of England advises that best practice is keeping church doors opening even when services aren’t going on.

It said on its national resource website Church Care: “A church locked to keep thieves and vandals out is also a church closed to its community.

“Whilst it might seem hard to believe, more churches are attacked when they are locked than when they are open, possibly as criminals feel they are less likely to be disturbed in a closed church than one where anyone could appear at any time.”

It is not known which diocese the Bishop of Portsmouth was visiting.

A spokeswoman for the Catholic National Mutual Limited, the main insurer for Catholic dioceses in the UK, told newspaper: “Churches are places of worship…
