Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Drop Test, Durability Review: Woman Smashes Curved-Edge Smartphone on the Floor

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is among the best devices in the market today. But even during its launch, the curved edge smartphone did not fail to turn heads and get attention, earning it the Best New Device award during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Christian Post Report – However, in terms of durability not a lot of people can testify the Galaxy S6 Edge’s durability because its release date is still a few weeks from now.

Fortunately, a new report provides a glimpse of the phone’s build and quality.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone underwent a harsh drop test.

In a video uploaded by Korean website Youku, the Galaxy S6 Edge was seen being normally used by a woman.

Then, the woman smashed the device on the floor. And as if once was not enough, the woman did it two more times.

Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge held its own and did not show any scratches. The new Corning Gorilla Glass is definitely an asset to Samsung’s business.

The Galaxy S6 Edge packs a 5.1-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, and a Samsung-made Exynos chipset.

Together with the Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge went on pre-orders in the US, and some parts of the EU last week.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date, Specs Rumors: What Features Can We Expect?

Samsung is expected to be bringing in strengthened specs later in the year when it debuts the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with higher quality features compared to its predecessor.

Christian Post Report – Rumors have escalated Samsung may release its next generation phablet in late 2015 with its Samsung Galaxy Note 5, expected to feature as many specifications as the Japanese electronics conglomerate can include.

Samsung may be upping the ante on super AMOLED technology from the Galaxy Note 4 and prepping the Galaxy Note 5 with 4K resolution. The 4K display technology, rumored to also be included in the Galaxy S7 smartphone handset when it launches in 2016, is set to go mainstream for a majority of devices within the year. This means, users are likely to see the Galaxy Note 5 sporting 4K resolution in a 5.9 inch phablet.

One of the improvements Samsung is likely to visit on their upcoming flagship device will be a suitable battery to go with its more advanced resolution. With a 4K screen eating up more battery life, users may expect a more powerful 4,000 mAh cell to increase the Galaxy Note 5’s power by as much as 20 percent.

According to the team working on projects involving PC Oculus Rift VR, the Galaxy Note 5 will feature Virtual Reality functionality to make it a perfect companion for the VR headset, and with Samsung having earlier unveiled wireless charging capabilities for its Galaxy S6, users should expect the Galaxy Note 5 phablet to sport this capability, as well.

Gadget analysts are suggesting the Galaxy Note 5 may have Samsung’s first ever 20MP rear facing camera, and a 5MP front shooter. With Samsung’s rival Apple heavily promoting its Apple Watch’s Force Touch technology, Samsung may be beefing up its devices’ TouchID function, and adding a higher end retinal scanning security capability into the bargain.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be available in stores by the fourth quarter of 2015, and while no price point information has been leaked so far, speculations run on a non-contract retail price of between $900 to $1,000 when the Galaxy Note 5 hits the market.

Detroit Tigers MLB 2015 News, Rumors: This Could Be the Detroit Tigers Everyday Lineup

Detroit Tigers MLB 2015 News, Rumors: This Could Be the Detroit Tigers Everyday Lineup

Now the Detroit Tigers have made their roster decision in terms of position players Brad Ausmus has to come up with a daily lineup that can compete not only with the team in the American League Central but all of baseball. The Tigers roster has some holes, there is not a true lead off man, and the 7-9 hitters have been notoriously weak in past seasons. However, this off season has been more about the Tigers finding balance than having one part of their roster be completely dominant.

Christian Post Report – This is the lineup the Tigers used over the weekend:

1. CF Anthony Gose (L)
2. 2B Ian Kinsler (R)
3. 1B Miguel Cabrera (R)
4. DH Victor Martinez (S)
5. RF JD Martinez (R)
6. LF Yoenis Cespedes (R)
7. C Alex Avila (L)
8. 3B Nick Castellanos (R)
9. SS Jose Iglesias (R)

Miguel Cabrera reuters.com

Miguel Cabrera returns as the center piece of the Detroit Tigers lineup

Gose has impressive in Spring Training with his ability to get on base. Once he does so he has the speed and base running skills to be a real threat. Kinsler batted second most of the time in 2014 and is very good in that spot. The power of 3-6 should scare any pitcher because one mistake could lead to a big inning.

Avila needs to continue to get on base while Castellanos works on his power. The only real hole is Iglesias but he is on this team for what he can do in the field not what he does at the plate. When the Tigers face a left handed started expect Rajai Davis to play center and hit leadoff, and James McCann to play catcher and hit 8th bumping Castellon up to 7th.

Expect to see Davis not only sharing time in Center but spelling the other outfielder in the corners. He is simply too valuable to only face left handed pitching.

The Chicago Blackhawks host the Vancouver Canucks at the United Center in the NHL. To be played on April 2, 2015, the match starts at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Vrbata Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Christian Post Report – Radim Vrbata of the Vancouver Canucks.

The Western Conference rivals are separated by three points as Chicago are fourth in the standings, while the Canucks are sixth and three points behind.

Chicago has won two straight matches, beating the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings.

In their win over the defending Stanley Cup champions, Bryan Bickell opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the match. LA levelled at the end of the period but it only took less than two minutes in the second period for the Blackhawks to regain the lead behind Duncan Keith’s goal. Niklas Hjalmarsson gave Chicago a two-goal cushion in the next minute before Marian Hossa completed the 4-1 route in the 54th minute.

The Canucks have also won back-to-back games as they beat the St. Louis Blues and the Nashville Predators.

Shawn Matthias scored in the 24th minute before St. Louis equalized after 10 minutes. Nick Bonino regained the lead by scoring less than a minute after to end the period 2-1. Radim Vrbata and Alexandre Burrows scored in the third period to secure two points for the Canucks.

Up next was a 5-4 penalty shootout win over the Nashville Predators. Vancouver rebounded from a 2-0 deficit in the first period to level things in the second. The Canucks almost grabbed the win in the third period but a late goal from the Predators extended the match to extra time. Bonino would go on and score the winning penalty shot to get the extra point for the Canucks.

In their earlier meetings this season, the Blackhawks won the first meeting but the Canucks were able to rebound by winning the last two. This is their last clash before the playoffs and an important win may go a long way.

Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard (L) is congratulated by teammate Jakub Kindl after the Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks during Game 2 of their NHL Western Conference semi-final playoff hockey game in Chicago, Illinois, May 18, 2013.

Detroit have lost their last two games and four of their last five. They did get a point in their latest match against the Ottawa Senators.

Gustav Nyquist opened the scoring in the second period with a snap shot but it was ultimately equalized by Clarke MacArthur with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Mark Stone then converted the winning shootout goal to hand the Senators the win.

Meanwhile, momentum is with the Bruins as they have won three straight games. They have beaten the New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers as they try to chase the playoff spots in the East.

According to The Wrap, “Lost” actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is joining the cast to play Killer Croc in the upcoming DC movie. Killer Croc is an enemy of Batman and is considered a supervillain. Akinnuoye-Agbaje has not confirmed the report, neither has Warner Bros.

Raymond Olubowale, a boxer, was said to have been cast as King Shark, according to a report in Latino Review. He expressed his delight to join the cast. His exact role in the movie is unconfirmed however. King Shark in the comics is a humanoid shark.

Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood confirmed to Forbes that he is joining the cast as well. One rumor going around is that he will play the role of Steve Trevor, who is said to be the love interest of Wonder Woman in the comics.

Another confirmed casting is Karen Fukuhara. Although there is no official word yet on her role, the Latino Review says that she may play a minor supervillain role, that of Plastique. She is known for her ability to project explosive force outward from her body.

They join the rest of the cast members who were earlier confirmed: Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg.

The “Suicide Squad” is a fictional group of imprisoned supervillains in DC Comics who were put together by government to become “deniable” government assets and conduct special high risk and covert operations in exchange for pardon.

Upcoming action-adventure stealth video game from Kojima Productions “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”

Christian Post Report – Gamers who have enjoyed playing the action-adventure stealth video game “Metal Gear Solid” are in for a treat. Sony Pictures is finally gearing up to push through with the live action adaptation of the video game into a feature film.

Deadline reported that Sony Pictures has hired Jay Basu to pen the script for the film. Basu is also currently involved with Universal Pictures to “relaunch its library of classic monster movies.”

The film has long been in what the industry calls “development hell,” with talks of an adaptation going as far back as 2006, when the game’s director Hideo Kojima said that a movie was in the works and will be possibly shot in Alaska.

This new announcement however assures fans that the movie is indeed moving forward. Aside from Basu, “The Kings of Summer” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is already on board to direct the film, while Avi and Ari Arad are producing with Sony Pictures Michael De Luca.

Released in 1998, the game is about Solid Snake, a soldier whose mission is to enter a nuclear weapons facility being controlled by a renegade special forces unit and neutralize the threat, while saving the two hostages. The game was developed by Konami Computer Entertainment for PlayStation consoles. Several sequels of the game were developed afterwards, not just for the PlayStation but also for other consoles.

In the original game, Solid Snake was voiced by David Hayter, who was also a screenwriter. Hayter was rumored to have been interested in the adaptation project but it did not go beyond initial pitches. Another rumor about a possible actor who can play Solid Snake is that of Christian Bale, who had earlier revealed that he was a fan of the video game, as reported in Cinema Blend. Given this new development, there will soon be an impressive list of Hollywood actors who will indicate their interest.

It is not known whether the film will be shot in Alaska, as earlier declared by Kojima. No other details about the film have been released so far.
