Toronto police arrested a street evangelist Tuesday night for preaching on a street corner in the city’s gay village. They released him Wednesday morning but instructed him not to go to the homosexual district or any Pride month events.

Pastor David Lynn of Christ Forgiveness Ministries gathered with about 12-15 other Christians on a street corner in Christ-Wellesley Village. His made the stop as part of a preaching tour through all 22 districts in Toronto. Another ministry that was present, Torch of Christ, shared a video of the entire event on YouTube and Lynn’s ministry shared a shorter, edited version.

As the group joined in a circle to pray before Lynn started preaching, a crowd of onlookers started to gather around them. Lynn started preaching on a microphone with a portable speaker, saying, “God is good, God is really good. We are here to offer free information about Jesus to all who would like free information.” The video then cuts to a group beginning to confront Lynn about his preaching. Lynn said he was tolerant of everyone and asked if they would be tolerant of him as a Christian. One man said he did not want Lynn to “spew” his beliefs right on top of them and another said Lynn was disturbing a peaceful neighborhood by preaching with a microphone.

The Trump administration has reversed an Obama-era practice and banned embassies from flying the gay pride rainbow flag on flagpoles during LGBT Pride Month, according to American diplomats.

Embassies in Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia have requested but been denied permission to fly the gay pride flag alongside the American flag on their respective embassy flagpoles, NBC News reported.  

The Obama administration allowed embassies in foreign countries to fly the gay pride flag on the official flagpole during LGBT Pride Month as a way to promote its agenda overseas. The Obama administration’s move took place even before the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide. 

The new Trump policy apparently took effect when Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, a Christian, was sworn in last year. 

Requests to fly the gay pride flag on the flagpole must be made to the State Department, NBC News reported. All have been denied.

This doesn’t mean embassies can’t hang gay pride flags elsewhere, such as inside on walls or even outdoors. But it can’t fly from the flagpole. 

“The pride flag will be on as many places as it can at the Embassy,” a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Berlin told NBC News.

A pair of articles in the most recent issue of Decision explores what the authors see as the problems with Progressive Christianity. The articles particularly focus on comments made by South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, the 37-year-old Democratic Presidential candidate who is openly gay and married to another man.

At a CNN Town Hall in April, an audience member asked Buttigieg if Mike Pence represented the views of the average person in Indiana. Buttigieg responded, “Please don’t judge my state by our former governor.” Buttigieg then went into a long and sustained attack on Mike Pence’s understanding of Christianity, the Bible, and ethics. He first brought up the 2015 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which Buttigieg said was “a license to discriminate, provided you remembered to mention your religion as an excuse for discriminating.”

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is back behind the pulpit, teaching Sunday School for the first time after breaking his hip.

At Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, Carter thanked those present for their prayers and well wishes. The 94-year-old broke his hip in May when he fell while leaving to go turkey hunting.

Although hundreds of visitors sit in on Carter’s regular Sunday School lessons, his return caused a surge in attendance. According to WRIC, “people began gathering at midnight to hear Carter, and by 8 a.m., a line wrapped around the church despite pouring rain.”

People from Atlanta to New York City gathered to hear him. “We wanted to pay tribute for all of the work he has done,” Glenda Morris-Robinson, a pediatrician from Atlanta told AJC. “It is so wonderful to see a true servant leader. He was remarkable.”

Carter had hoped to return much earlier. He was ready to go back to teaching Sunday School a week after his surgery, but he needed a little more time to recuperate.

As per the former president’s request, no one claps or stands when he walks into the foyer. “He has a very clear message of serving others,” Ricardo Martinez, a visitor to the church, said. “He is a man of peace. He was the most powerful man in the world and he comes back to Plains to teach Sunday school and to teach others to serve.”

California is set to approve a new state budget that will allot for the payment of full health benefits for thousands of illegal immigrants living in the Golden State.

According to Fox News, as a part of the state’s new budget plan, low-income illegal immigrants living in California between the ages of 19 and 25 will be eligible for Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program. If passed, the plan – which was proposed by California Governor Gavin Newsom – would make California the first state to offer full health insurance to immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, The Hill reports.

This plan is estimated to cost $98 million out of the state’s total $213 billion budget and is set to go into effect in January 2020.

To pay for the medical benefits for illegal immigrants, USA Today reports that California lawmakers have decided that they will tax citizens who do not have health insurance. 

Reportedly, Democrats in the state’s Legislature have agreed on the budget plan, but the plan is yet to be passed by the body as a whole.
