Christian comedian John Archer faces his fear and auditions for Britain’s Got Talent

The 58-year old who often performs at Spring Harvest told the judges why he finally decided to appear on the popular talent show.

“I have thought about it and I’ve chickened out and so I got to the point this year where I thought, ‘face your fears and do it’ and so I’m here.”

He got emotional as he opened up about the toil his profession has had on his family as doing gigs takes up a lot of his time.

“I really just want to make them proud,” he said fighting back tears.

“I know it sounds corny – sorry!”

He revealed he had not brought anyone with him, as it would make him “too nervous” to perform.

For his trick, Archer asked judge David Walliams to join him on the stage and showed him a series of cards with different drinks written on them.

John received a standing ovation from all the judges and audience after pulling off a trick that had seemed destined to fail.

Britain’s Got Talent’s semi-finals will air live on ITV at 7:30pm on Monday.

Pope compares abortion to ‘hiring a hitman’

He urged doctors and priests to support families to carry such pregnancies to term.

During an audience with participants of a Vatican-sponsored anti-abortion conference, Francis said opposition to abortion is not a religious issue but a human one, asking: “Is it licit to throw away a life to resolve a problem? Is it licit to hire a hitman to resolve a problem?”

Francis denounced decisions to abort based on prenatal testing, saying a human being is “never incompatible with life”.

Even those babies destined to die at birth or soon thereafter deserve to receive medical care in the womb, Francis said, adding that their parents need to be supported so they do not feel isolated and afraid.

While one can argue about using medical resources this way, there is value to it for the parents, he said.

Faithful reach out to Pope Francis during an audience with participants of a pilgrimage of the Italian-Albanian diocese of Lungro, in the Pope Paul VI hall, at the Vatican, Saturday, May 25, 2019.

“Taking care of these children helps parents to grieve and not only think of it as a loss, but as a step on a path taken together,” Francis said.

Francis has spoken out strongly against abortion, although he has also expressed sympathy for women who have had them and made it easier for them to be forgiven.

His comments come as…

‘Disillusioned’ Sir Cliff Richard moves to New York after baseless sex abuse slurs

The Christian pop star, 78, has previously told how the trauma of BBC coverage of the police search of his Berkshire home in 2014, following a claim of historical sexual assault, had left him emotionally drained.

Sir Cliff was not arrested and charges were never brought, and he won a privacy case against the BBC last year.

However, Sir Cliff has now chosen to leave the UK for good, with Hunniford telling The Sun: “Cliff won’t come back and live here.

“He has made that jump now. He was very disillusioned with what happened.”

She said that he “likes the anonymity in America”, adding: “Some people recognise him but he does not get it all the time like he does here.”

TV presenter Hunniford, a long-time friend of Sir Cliff, said that he “loves coming back to perform occasionally and is looking forward to playing summer shows this year”.

But she said she does not think he will ever return to live in the UK full-time again.

Sir Cliff has previously spoken of how the 2014 raid and the following legal battle took a toll on him.

In November, he told LBC: “I think most people know that what I have been through has been pretty traumatic emotionally … It’s been horrible.”

He added: “I finally feel that I came out of that mud and mire, and I’m here again and I’m doing what I’m best at really and what I enjoy most.

“So, if I do sound…
