Not Forsaken: Louie Giglio’s Heart for the ‘Fatherless’

Not Forsaken: Louie Giglio’s Heart for the ‘Fatherless’

As soon as Louie Giglio walks in the room, it is clear that he’s a man on a mission with a very important message. Anyone who knows Giglio or has heard him speak before will also know that it is not unusual for him to be passionate.

Giglio has written more than 20 books, but it is clear that Not Forsaken was his toughest work as an author. Originally, his plan was to write a different book, but he knew that God wanted him to write Not Forsaken. “I can remember waking up one day knowing that God wanted me to write the book,” Giglio says. “It was a hard book to write because with every page I knew that I would be speaking into people’s pain about how they had been treated by their earthly father.”

Giglio says that he wrote the book for everyone because we all have a father, and how we view God is directly related to how we view our father. In Giglio’s opinion, God is nothing like our earthly father, no matter how good or bad of a father we had. To those who have followed Giglio, it is not unexpected for him to talk about the characteristics of God. In fact, it’s his trademark.

According to Giglio, receiving the approval of our earthly father is something we all desire. For many people, when they don’t receive it, they struggle inwardly. This is one of the reasons why he felt the need to not only speak on the topic but also write about it. He wanted to give people the hope of…

Pastor offers to help man who shot him: Three reasons to forgive

Pastor Dimas Salaberrios | June 20, 2015 | Charleston, S.C.

Emanuel Kidega Samson intended to kill at least ten white churchgoers when he attacked the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in September 2017. This according to a prosecutor’s statement Monday in Samson’s trial. During his shooting rampage, he murdered a thirty-eight-year-old woman.

Minister David “Joey” Spann was shot in the chest and in the hand. His wife was shot as well. However, he told reporters, “If I had the opportunity to talk to [Samson], I would. And I would try to help him.”

“I forgive you. And my family forgives you.”

In June 2015, Dylann Roof attacked the Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charlotte, South Carolina, killing nine people. He later told authorities that he hoped to start a race war.

The opposite happened.

At Roof’s bond hearing two days later, Rev. Anthony Thompson told the man who murdered his wife, “I forgive you. And my family forgives you. But we would like you to take this opportunity to repent. Repent. Confess. Give your life to the One who matters most: Jesus Christ, so that He can change it and change your attitude. And no matter what happens to you, then you’ll be OK. Do that and you’ll be better off than you are right now.”

Several other family members at the hearing offered their forgiveness as well.

City and state police prepared for racial riots, fearing the bloodshed and violence witnessed in Ferguson, Baltimore, Berkeley, and other cities following racially motivated crimes. But Charleston responded with acts of love, kindness, and grace.

Makeshift flower memorials grew in front of Emanuel Church. Donors pledged thousands of dollars to help the victims’ families. Thousands gathered for an evening vigil and prayer service. More than fifteen thousand people of all colors and faiths joined hands to create a human bridge that stretched for two miles.

The forgiveness Rev. Thompson and other family…

The Church of Scotland has ‘vital’ role in Scotland’s life, says First Minister

Addressing its General Assembly in Edinburgh, the First Minister said the Scottish Parliament owes a “major debt” to the Kirk, which she said provides a model of how to debate potentially divisive issues.

Ms Sturgeon said her speech at the Assembly Hall marked 20 years to the day since she first spoke as an MSP in the same building, which was home to the Scottish Parliament after it was reconvened in 1999 until it moved to Holyrood in 2005.

She said: “Whenever I attend the opening of the General Assembly, as I was privileged to do again on Saturday, I am struck by the extent to which the Church is at the centre not just of people’s spiritual life but of Scottish public life.

“That, of course, has been the case for generations.

“For a long time after the Act of Union, the General Assembly was the most prominent forum in existence in Scotland for bringing people together from right across the country to discuss important issues of the day.

“It therefore served in the words of Professor Sir Tom Devine as a ‘kind of surrogate parliament’.”

She added: “The Church of Scotland, of course, also helped to reestablish the modern Scottish Parliament.

“The 1989 Assembly endorsed the Claim of Right for Scotland, indeed, it was one of the first major civic institution to do so and it passed a resolution calling for the creation of a democratically elected…

Richmond Council taken to High Court over abortion clinic prayer vigil ban

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) around the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) centre on Rosslyn Road on 1st April 2019 made it a criminal offence for pro-life groups to gather outside.

Conversations about abortion or other options, counselling, leaflets outlining alternatives to abortion and “any act of approval or disapproval” have also been outlawed.

The legal challenge has been brought by Justyna Pasek, who has for over five years tried to offer women visiting the clinic alternatives to abortion.

This comes as the ongoing legal challenge to a similar order introduced last year in Ealing is set to be heard by the Court of Appeal on 16th July.

be here for me

A crowdfunding appeal to cover the costs of Pasek’s legal challenge rose over £10,000 in one week and crowdfunding for the case in Ealing has raised over £50,000.

The Home Secretary rejected nationwide “buffer zones” last September highlighting that “the majority of activities are more passive in nature”.

Pasek said in a statement: “I understand what is at stake in Richmond because I have stood outside that abortion clinic many times and offered women alternatives to abortion.

“I have met hundreds of women who just needed a little help, at the right time and in the right place, in order to keep the child that they…

Church wins legal battle to evict asylum-seeking family

The family, originally from Nigeria, including three children, aged eight, nine and eleven, paid rent for ten years from 2006 to live in the four-bedroom caretaker’s house adjoining the All Nations Church in Hemlington, near Middlesbrough.

However, when the church became aware of their immigration status two years ago, the church asked the family to leave the property. Home Office rules prevent the family from paying rent to the church due to their status as asylum seekers.

Some members of the church have criticised the church’s decision.

One member told Teesside Live she is “saddened and sickened” by the church “turning their back”.

However, the church’s pastor Ian Rowland insisted the church had done all it could do to support the family.

“We have bent over backwards to help them and this is the last resort,” he told Teeside Live.

The married couple moved to the UK with their children on a student visa, and achieved university degrees and worked in professional jobs.

When Middlesbrough Council contacted the church about council tax, they found out for the first time that the family were actually seeking asylum.

As a result, the church was legally obliged to stop charging the family for rent or any utilities.”

All Nations began legal proceedings to evict the family when the church and family failed to reach a compromise.

An unnamed member…
