San Jose City Council Unanimously Votes to Fly LGBT Flags Outside of New Chick-fil-A Location

The city of San Jose, California will fly rainbow flags near a new Chick-fil-A that is slated to open at the city’s airport.

The city council voted 11-0 this week to display a rainbow flag and a transgender rights pink, blue and white flag near the San Jose International Airport.

“I made the suggestion to put the flags next to the restaurant, and council members liked that idea but also said that maybe put flags elsewhere, too, like outside,” Ken Yeager, the first openly gay elected official in Santa Clara County, told NBC News.

Chick-fil-A has not commented on the council’s decision.

In 2018, the city council voted to approve a Chick-fil-A location in the airport’s food court.

Chick-fil-A has recently made headlines after the restaurant was barred from opening a new location in the San Antonio, Texas airport.

The San Antonio city council voted in March to stop Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the airport because of its LGBTQ donations and history.

According to a report from ThinkProgress, Chick-fil-A tax documents show the Chick-fil-A Foundation has donated to groups that have openly stood against LGBTQ movements. Those groups included the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home.

“With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of…

England rugby star defends Israel Folau over post about sin and hell

Billy Vunipola, who ‘liked’ fellow Christian Folau’s message on Instagram (below), wrote a detailed response, having received three phones calls asking him to ‘unlike’ the post.

It comes after Rugby Australia said it intends to terminate Folau’s contract, claiming he’s entitled to his religious beliefs but it’s the way he expresses them that is the problem.

Adam Davy/PA Wire

Folau has received a huge backlash with the accusation that he’s homophobic.

Writing on Instagram, Vunipola said he was forced to respond when people were insulting his beliefs.

“There just comes a point when you insult what I grew up believing in that you just say enough is enough,” he said. “What he’s saying isn’t that he doesn’t like or love those people. He’s saying how we live our lives needs to be closer to how God intended them to be.

“Man was made for woman to pro create. That was the goal, no? I’m not perfect. I’m at least everything on that list at least at one point in my life. It hurts to know that. But that’s why I believe there’s a God. To guide and protect us and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

Billy Vunipola/Instagram

Vunipola has previously spoken about the impact his faith has on his life. Speaking to Engage 2015, he said: “Knowing that Jesus is with me makes me a stronger person,…

Attorney General William Barr Launches Investigation into Accusations of Campaign Spying during the 2016 Election

Attorney General William Barr Launches Investigation into Accusations of Campaign Spying during the 2016 Election

Attorney General William Barr says he believes there was campaign spying during the 2016 election cycle.

According to CBN News, Barr believes that political campaign spying may have been at the origin of the nearly two years long Mueller investigation into President Trump. Barr said that he has an “obligation” to look into whether or not spying did take place during the 2016 election cycle and as such he is working on putting together a team to investigate the allegations.

“I think spying on a political campaign is a big deal,” Barr said during Senate testimony Wednesday.

“I am not saying that improper surveillance occurred,” the attorney general said. “I am saying that I am concerned about it and am looking into it. I feel that I have an obligation to ensure government power was not abused.”

He added that the “question is whether it was predicated, adequately predicated.”

22-month investigation found the Trump campaign did not collude with Russia during election season, but many Democrats have still asked to see the full report.

Barr said he couldn’t release a fully unredacted report but said the report should be released sometime next week.

In response, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the Associated Press that she didn’t trust Barr, while House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New…

Campaign urges Church of England to allow gay couples to marry in its buildings

Equal, the Campaign for Equal Marriage in the Church of England, want same-gender couples to be able to get married in parishes across the country.

Rev Andrew Foreshew-Cain, one of the team members leading the campaign, told Premier the significance behind Friday’s launch date.

“Today is the fifth anniversary of the wedding of Cannon Jeremy Pemberton to Laurence Cunnington – the first marriage of a Church of England priest to a same-sex partner.

“On their anniversary day, we thought we would launch the campaign, congratulate them on their happy marriage and to celebrate all the marriages that have been made possible since the change in the law.”

The group says the “consciences of everyone should be protected” and “no member of the clergy should be forced to conduct a marriage they disagree with, but also no member of the clergy should be prevented from celebrating a marriage involving a same-gender couple”.

However, the Coalition of Marriage, which supports traditional marriage and opposes its redefinition, thinks the campaign will have the opposite effect.

Colin Hart, the group’s chairman told Premier: “It will destroy the freedoms of everybody else.

“The problem is this – although that’s not what they intend, it will completely smash the ‘quad lock’ to smithereens.

“The reason for that is, the Church of England is the…

Joni Eareckson Tada Released from Hospital after 14-Days following Health Complications

Joni Eareckson Tada Released from Hospital after 14-Days following Health Complications

After being admitted into the hospital late last month following complications from her cancer treatments, Joni Eareckson Tada has been released.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, the 69-year-old champion for people with disabilities was admitted into the hospital in late March after experiencing significant pain issues and difficulty breathing.

According to CBN News, doctors initially believed Tada was suffering from pneumonia, later doctors realized, however, that Tada’s lung condition was due to more than just pneumonia.

Tada shared on her Facebook page that her chronic quadriplegia – which she has dealt with for over 51 years – had put an undue amount of stress on her heart and lungs.

This, Tada shared, was not a bad diagnosis. The author and speaker wrote, “The good news is, doctors believe that with medication and with a more efficient way of breathing, my condition can be reversed.”

An optimistic Tada shared that while this time may have been challenging, she knew that God was using this experience in her life to show His love and mercy.

She said, “My assignment over the last 14 days of hospitalization was straight out of Acts 20:24, ‘But life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about God’s almighty kindness and love’…

Steve Clifford to leave Evangelical Alliance

After ten years in the role, Clifford told Premier he felt God was calling him to something else.

He said: “For my wife and I, over the last few months, we’ve sensed that change was in the air for us personally, but also for the organisation itself.

“Through a combination of prayer, some prophetic insights that people have given us, we just felt it was the right time to be making a change and to be moving on to something fresh, and for the organisation to find someone else to follow in my footsteps.”

During his time in the role, Clifford has overseen growth in the Evangelical Alliance including expanding its work within black and minority ethnic communities.

He’s also seen the launch of the Great Commission website equipping Christians for evangelism in the UK.

Paying tribute, Dr Tani Omideyi, chair of the Evangelical Alliance board and senior pastor of Temple of Praise, Liverpool, said: “A proof of the changes Steve has brought about over his 10 years as general director is seen in the fact that the Evangelical Alliance looks and sounds different today than when he took over its leadership role.

“His outstanding achievement in deepening unity across church traditions and racial backgrounds provides a sure foundation on which hopefully future evangelicals will build. It has been my joy and privilege to support him during some of this period.”

The Evangelical Alliance…

Bleach-Like Chemical Sprayed at Conservative Speaker by Student Protestor at the University of Missouri in Kansas City

Bleach-Like Chemical Sprayed at Conservative Speaker by Student Protestor at the University of Missouri in Kansas City

One person was arrested after a conservative speaker talking on gender politics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City was sprayed with an unknown chemical that smelled like bleach.

According to the Daily Wire, the news outlet’s own Michael Knowles was attacked on Thursday with a squirt gun filled with a glittery chemical – initially believed to be bleach – by a masked person while giving a speech called “Men Are Not Women.”

The speech, which was meant to highlight key differences between liberal and conservative gender ideology, was hosted by the conservative group Young Americans for Freedom. The event attracted a handful of protestors who Knowles says were heckling him while he was trying to deliver his speech.

According to the Daily Wire, “Hecklers consistently interrupted Knowles and yelled at him, prompting Knowles to respond, ‘I know, you’re so oppressed, my dears. I know, life is so hard for you. You have to live in the richest, most equitable, most just country in the history of the world. You have to get a college education; you have to voluntarily go to lectures; it’s so awful. I can’t imagine.’”

Knowles’ response triggered a mass exodus of the protestors. This is when the masked protestor sprayed Knowles in the face and side with the unknown substance.

Police then wrestled…

Disgraced Christian MP Fiona Onasanya to face disciplinary tribunal

The 35-year-old solicitor and MP for Peterborough is now facing a misconduct tribunal over her conviction for perverting the course of justice.

On Friday, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) announced a decision to prosecute Ms Onasanya.

It found there was a “case to answer” over her conviction on 19th December last year.

It is alleged she failed to “uphold the proper administration of justice”, “act with integrity” or “behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in her and the provision of legal services”.

The case will be brought before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and are “as yet unproven”, the SRA said in a statement on its website.

PA

At the full hearing, the SRA as the prosecuting authority, is expected to present its case to a Tribunal panel of two solicitors and a lay member, during which Ms Onasanya can challenge evidence or offer mitigation.

No date has yet been set for a hearing in central London but if the allegations are proved, Ms Onasanya could be fined, suspended from working as a solicitor or struck off.

Ms Onasanya was elected for Labour in the Cambridgeshire city in 2017 by a small majority of 607 votes.

Food Deprivation, Beatings and Jail as Christians Suffer in Jharkhand, India

Food Deprivation, Beatings and Jail as Christians Suffer in Jharkhand, India

HYDERABADIndia, April 11, 2019 (Morning Star News) – A longstanding Hindu extremist practice of turning animistic villagers against Christians has intensified as elections get underway in India today, with tribal villagers taught that Christianity is anti-Indian.

Upset about tribal Adivasi relatives leaving the animistic Sarna religion to become Christians, 60-year-old Sanpitha Majhi attacked a 28-year-old Christian mother he believed had “forcefully converted” his daughter and son-in-law in eastern India’s Jharkhand state. Bale Murmu was washing utensils in an outdoor area of her home on April 1 and did not notice Majhi, her neighbor, coming toward her, pastor Girish Chander Marandi said.

“Majhi with all his force pressed her breasts and pushed her to the floor,” Pastor Marandi told Morning Star News. “While he was kicking her in her stomach, his wife, Gouri Majhi, brought a wooden stick, and the couple beat her black and blue.”

When her husband, Jaata Murmu, heard her screams and came to rescue her, he too was beaten, Pastor Marandi said.

“Murmu suffered bruises all over her body and, her stomach and breasts were swollen,” he said. “We provided her first aid that night, and the next day we went to the police station.”

Police refused to receive their complaint until they reminded officers that Majhi had also attacked Christians…

‘Our faith is everything’, family of Kent pastor find consolation amid Rwandan Genocide accusation

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are investigating claims Celestin Mutabaruka from Kent took part in the atrocities 25 years ago.

His son, Peter, told Premier the allegations – referred by authorities in Rwanda – had taken a strain on their family and they had found comfort in God.

He explained: “Our faith in God is what we have always built our lives on. Even before these allegations, these accusations and these problems came into our lives we’ve always stood on faith.”

Approximately 800,000 Rwandans – mostly Tutsis but also some moderate Hutus – died during 100 days of slaughter and ethnic cleansing in Rwanda in 1994.

CC

Peter believes the allegations against his father are revenge for strong criticisms he and his father have been making against Rwanda’s government over the years.

He continued: “It’s not unique to my father; this is something which is of a pattern with the government in Rwanda, when it comes to anyone who is critical or has been critical of the regime.”

CC

Celestin first became a target for authorities during the early 1990s when he helped establish the Union of Christian Democrats to opposing Rwanda’s ruling party, Peter said.

Peter claims he has also been the subject of threats from Rwanda over his criticism of the country’s alleged involvement in…
