TOPIC: Jesus Our Righteousness

READ: Matthew 5:17-26 King James Version (KJV)

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

THE MESSAGE:

Jesus taught about the character, blessedness and influence of the citizens of heaven (verses 3-16). Here, He talks about the righteousness expected of His disciples. He begins by correcting the false impression that He came to abolish the Law and the Prophets. Jesus came to fulfill the Law and to show us its meaning by His obedience which becomes our very source of salvation. He fulfills the Law in His death in which we see the reality of the Laws demand for holiness. He fulfills the law in us, too, by His grace and by the work of the Holy Spirit, through which He writes again, God’s Law on our hearts. He fulfills it by living the quality of life which the Law aspired. The Law, therefore, implies far more than the Pharisees’ safe interpretations. Man looks on the exterior, but God examines the heart, which is often the root of sin.

Friend, no one can be righteous or be saved through the Law but only through Christ Jesus, Who is our Saviour and righteousness. He has fulfilled the demands of God on our behalf by His death on the cross. When you believe Him and put your trust and hope in Him, you will find acceptance before God as there is no other way of becoming righteous apart from Christ!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to daily conform to Your image and be clothed in Your righteousness.

Signs For Impact by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Signs For Impact

Signs are the spiritual heritage of the Children of God.

Isaiah 8:18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

When you walk in signs, the world cannot ignore you. If you desire to be a person of impact then you must work in signs. It is possible to be a producer of signs and a person of impact.

If you want to be a person of impact, your faith is the switch that turns on signs and wonders. Every born-again child of God is expected to produce signs and this is not just for pastors alone. When you work in signs, you command respect in your assignment. However faith is what it takes to turn on the switch of signs and wonders.

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Faith is to believe and act on God’s word in order to commit Him to do what He says He will do. Miracles are not only about healing the sick; miracles are for everybody. Miracle is simply God intervening in the affairs of men. You need miracles in your business and academics. There is no point being born-again if you do not believe in miracles because salvation itself is a miracle.

Also Read: Divine Visitation by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

To work in signs and wonders you must possess a healthy conscience. You need a healthy conscience to work in the miraculous. Faith will remain impotent without a good conscience, and signs and wonders are merely theoretical without a healthy conscience.

1 Timothy 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

You cannot be an instrument of signs and wonders without a healthy conscience. If you don’t possess a good conscience, you cannot be an instrument for signs and wonders. The impact you make is determined by your conscience.

Gehazi, Elisha’s servant could not produce signs and wonders with Elisha’s rod despite the anointing the rod carried. This was due to Gehazi’s bad conscience.

2 Kings 4:31 And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, the child is not awaked.

In 2Kings 5:20-27, Gehazi exposed himself as a man of unhealthy conscience when he collected money from Naman after he was healed of leprosy. Gehazi’s heart was for money and personal benefits and he ended up with leprosy. The anointing of Elisha could therefore not work in his hands. Elisha took over from Elijah and had twice the anointing but Gehazi had leprosy instead of the anointing.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

Acts 19:11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul.

God performed miracles through Paul because Paul had a clear conscience. The truth is that without a healthy conscience, you can never be in command. A bad conscience makes you walk in deceit while a healthy conscience makes you please God and constantly enjoy His presence.

The journey to glory begins with love. It is an important catalyst to living in the miraculous that would eventually herald your impact. God is not faith, hope, prayer, fasting, healing, prophecy, word of knowledge, neither is He word of wisdom. God is love!

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Possessing the nature of love is simply possessing God’s nature. When you walk in love, you walk in the nature of God. When you walk in love, you walk in the miraculous without sweat. To work in the supernatural, you must walk in love. The degree of your love for God determines the dimension of your operation in the supernatural because it takes the nature of love to flow in the miraculous.

When you want God to intervene in your life, thank Him first and you will see the supernatural hand of God.

John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

To raise Lazarus from the dead, Jesus gave thanks first. Anything can happen when you give God thanks.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

You can receive the promises of God when you live a life of thanksgiving.

No matter the prevailing situation it will be surmounted on the platter of thanksgiving. It is only men of gratitude that scale altitudes and become people of impact. It is time to walk in the miraculous in Jesus Name!

God bless you

Topic: Be Unflustered; Maintain Your Victory

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Sometimes in our walk of faith, we encounter circumstances that pose some serious challenges to our faith. It could be in your health or your finances; you’ve done everything you thought you should do, and applied all the principles you know of, yet nothing seemed to have changed. Now, you’re thinking what next to do.

First, it’s important you realise that there’s an adversary who’s all out to oppose the Gospel and God’s children. 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” Then, Ephesians 6:10-11 says, “…be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Satan, the adversary, is a defeated foe; he has no power. All he functions with are his wiles and stratagems. However, according to the Scriptures, you’ve already overcome him: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). What you’re expected to do is act on the Word; act on what we read in Ephesians 6:10-11: put on the whole armour of God.

Those who don’t have the whole armour on are vulnerable. Verse 12 of Ephesians 6 lets us know why you’re to keep the whole armour on. It says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Satan, the adversary, tries to sway you from the truth of God’s Word; He tries to get you to cave in under pressure, and give up on the Word. But refuse to give up or give in; rather, do what the Word says: resist the devil. James 4:7 says, “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony….”

No matter what the enemy throws at you, be unflustered; maintain your victory. Keep affirming who you are in Christ, your trust in His unfailing Word and power, and you’ll always prevail.

CONFESSION
I’m more than a conqueror; I’ve overcome Satan, the world, and its systems. I’m reigning in life through Jesus Christ, and walking in the light of my divine inheritance. All things are mine in His Name. Hallelujah!

Withstand [the devil]; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace…will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen and settle you. – 1 Peter 5:9-10, The Amplified Bible

No matter how long you’ve been living by faith, no matter how much you’ve learned about it, every once in a while you’re going to suffer a setback. You’re going to run into some circumstances that just don’t turn out the way you expect them to.

When that happens, remember this: Those setbacks are just temporary. You may have lost a battle, but you’re not going to lose the war. Just get up and go at it again.

“But I don’t understand it,” you say. “I did the best I could. I walked in all the truth I knew to walk in. Why didn’t I get the victory?”

Because there was something you didn’t know! It shouldn’t shock you too much that there are things you don’t know about the realm of the spirit. Ken and I have been in the ministry since 1967. We’ve spent untold hours in the Word. Yet it seems like the more we learn, the more we realize we don’t know.

So, when we get to a situation where we can’t seem to get victory we have to ask God for more wisdom. If you’ll look in 2 Samuel 21, you can see a time when King David had to do that. His country had been suffering from a famine for three years and David just didn’t understand it, so he inquired of the Lord. You know what the Lord told him? He told him the famine had come because of something Saul had done! Isn’t that amazing? Saul had been dead for years, yet what he’d put in motion in the realm of the spirit was still affecting his country.

David could have just given up when his usual confessions of faith and ways of praying didn’t drive out that famine, but he didn’t. He inquired of God for more wisdom. He used his temporary setback to cause him to seek more knowledge from God.

Follow his example! Overcome the habit of quitting because of temporary setbacks. Refuse to let them knock you out of the game. After all, this thing’s not over till it’s over. And the Bible says when it’s all over, you’ll have won. So just be steadfast in your faith. In the end your victory is guaranteed.

Luke 8:14, ‘And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.’

Luke 8:5-14

This third type of ground is characteristic of a large part of the Body of Christ today. These are people who have received God’s Word, committed themselves to it to the degree that they are able to remain faithful in persecution, but because of being occupied with the affairs of this life, the Word sown in their heart is choked and no fruit is produced. Just as weeds in a garden will steal all of the nutrients and starve the plant, so the pleasures of this life, if we allow them to dominate our thinking, will stop the fruit that the Word would have produced.

Throughout history, the Church has always grown in size and strength during persecution. This is because during persecution we get our priorities straight. We realize our life is in Jesus (Jn. 14:6) and not in things (Lk. 12:15), and we focus all of our attention on the Lord. However, prosperity has been far more damaging to the Body of Christ for the exact reason stated here in this verse. God wants to bless His children with things (Ps. 35:27; Mt. 6:33), but a preoccupation with these things will choke God’s Word and make it unfruitful. If we would follow God’s formula for prosperity found in Matthew 6:19-34, we would have the Word bringing forth fruit and we’d enjoy the physical blessings of this life, too.

Notice Jesus said that no fruit was brought to perfection. This type of person will exhibit some fruit, but it will always be small and far short of what it should be. Do you feel frustrated because you are just getting by and are not really experiencing the abundant life that Jesus came to give? (Jn. 10:10) Examine your lifestyle and see if the cares of this life, deceitfulness of riches, or pleasures of this life could be choking God’s Word.

He hath made him to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God . . . — 2 Corinthians 5:21

Augustine was one of the greatest theologians of all time. He was a wild, intemperate, immoral youth. In spite of his mother’s pleadings and prayers, he grew worse instead of better. But one day he had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ that transformed his life. His restlessness and the practice of sin disappeared. He became one of the great saints of all time. John Newton was a slave trader on the west coast of Africa. One day in a storm at sea he met Jesus Christ. He went back to England and became an Anglican clergyman. He wrote scores of hymns, one of which has become the modern popular song, “Amazing Grace.” This is what Christ can do for anyone who puts his trust in Him.

Prayer for the day: Your amazing grace transformed even my unworthy life—I love You, Lord Jesus!

Written by Billy Graham, Founder of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(BGEA). BGEA exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by every effective means and to equip the church and others to do the same.

TREM Devotional 11 April 2019 – Increase Your Capacity

“Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few… and it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, there is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed” – 2 Kings 4:3, 6 (KJV)

The widow, according to 2 Kings chapter 4, found herself in a terrible situation. Not only was she mourning her husband; who was a child of God and a committed, devoted prophet, she also had to deal with the huge bad debt that her husband left for the family. Now, the creditors had come to take her two sons as slaves, as payment for the debt. Consequently, she ran to meet the Prophet, Elisha. He asked her what she had in the house and she told him, ‘nothing except a small flask of oil.’ We then see in verse 3 that Prophet Elisha instructed her to go and borrow vessels. And if you read carefully, he said, “…borrow not a few”. In other words, don’t borrow one or two vessels, but borrow as many as you can lay your hands on, because your capacity determines the extent of the supply.

Beloved, you can no longer afford to do small things. Look around you. The rest of the world is making giant strides and taking territories. Why would believers who have the ‘dominion mandate’ do any less? The time has come for you to arise. God’s intention for you is to be at the forefront of the different sectors of our society. But if you lack the capacity to receive the mighty things that God has released, your lack of capacity will place a cap on His supply.

Child of God, you serve the Unlimited God. There is no limit to His supply! So why are you coming to Him with a little vessel? Why are you going to fetch water from the ocean with a bottle? Beloved, increase your capacity today!

TOPIC: The Feast of Esther (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 11 April 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 17-18; Luke 11:1-28

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Esther 3:1-6

MEMORY VERSE: “The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.” – Psalms 33:10

The MESSAGE:

There are several feasts in the Bible. Each of even has its purpose and significance. The feast of Esrher is particularly striking and important. There are also several lessons to learn form it.

First, it was a feast held by Queen Esther to commemorate and celebrate the dramatic and timely deliverance of her people (the Jews) from an arch enemy who plotted to use his position to exterminate them. Haman, the Agagite, plotted, schemed and used the vulpine cunning of the fox to seek the destruction of millions of Jews through king Ahauserus, but God frustrated Haman’s plan. The feast was instituted to continually express appreciation and glorification to God who is mighty to save and mighty to deliver.

The lessons in this story are as follows: First, God frustrates the counsel of the heathen and makes their devices to be of non-effect (Psalm 33:10). Haman had an evil plot to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, in the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions (Esther 3:13). He also cunningly got the consent of the king. The Jews were perplexed and in that precarious situation, only the God of heaven could deliver them. Did He? Yes, Jehovah heard the cry and prayer of His children and fulfilled Psalm 33:10 in their lives! He made Haman’s evil counsel to come to nought and made his devices to be of no effect on the Jews.

In Psalm 112:9-10, the Bible says that the horn of the righteous will be exalted. The wicked will see it and be grieved. He will gnash with his teeth and melt away. The desire of the wicked shall perish. Again, these scriptures were fulfilled in God’s judgement against Haman. Mordecai whom he hated was promoted while he (Haman) was demoted. Haman’s desire against Mordecai and all the Jews in the kingdom of Ahauserus perished because God who rules in the affairs of men rose in defence of His people, the Jews. Truly, God will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Beloved, God has done more for you than He did for Mordecai, Queen Esther and the Jews in Ahauserus kingdom. As Esther, in the Old Testament deemed it fit to hold a feast in honour and glory of the Almighty who saved them from their arch-enemy, individuals, families, organisations, churches and nations ought to be thankful to God for His merciful kindness that is so great and His innumerable blessings. Give God the feast of high praise continuously.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
HE WHO SPRINKLES ASHES SHALL THE ASHES FOLLOW.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Every effort of the enemy over your family shall be in vain.

Text: Proverbs 17:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife” (Proverbs 17:1).

MESSAGE:

There is nothing on earth that can be equated to a peaceful family life. A peaceful and harmonious family, no matter how poor, is a great blessing. There are families where the spouses and even some of the children have fat bank accounts and yet without peace. A Christian home where Christ is the Lord and King, no matter its level of penury and indigence, will always experience heaven on earth.

The text opens with a shocking revelation that supports the claim above. This is to say that the family is the bedrock of any society. It predetermines the future of its inhabitants.

God reveals the foolishness of an individual by trying the heart through affliction. Foolishness is a soft and euphemistic way of describing wickedness in the Bible. Foolishness is like a smoke, it cannot be permanently covered. It can be detected through lies, flatteries, mockery, rejoicing at the calamities of perceived enemies, graceless speeches, unforgiving spirit, constant mentioning of the offences of a partner, stubborn refusal to accept reproof and correction, rebellious spirit, vengeance, contentious and implacable spirit.

Verse six of the text reveals how lucky the children who have godly parents are. Equally, parents with godly children are blessed. Therefore, every Christian family must endeavour to bring up the children in the fear and admonition of the Lord by showing them practical examples of godly living at home. Our families should endeavour to live in peace and harmony at all times. Unbelieving families should not fail to realise that a family without Christ will be full of crises. The only way of escape is to accept Christ as their Saviour by repenting and forsaking all sin.

Thought For The Day: A home in Christ is crises free.

Seeds of Destiny 11 April 2019 Devotional — The Attitude Of Effective Praise

Topic: The Attitude Of Effective Praise [Seeds of Destiny 11 April 2019 Devotional]

Read Previous MESSAGES by Pastor Paul Enenche

A noise that is joyful is better than praise that is joyless.

SCRIPTURE: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalm 100:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A noise that is joyful is better than praise that is joyless.

Yesterday, we saw that we owe God an unfinishable debt of praise in time and in eternity and we have so many reasons to praise God daily – divine health, the knowledge of God, supernatural supplies, the frustration of the agenda of the wicked, etc.

Today, I would like to show you the things that make your praise effective:

1. The attitude of gratitude, excitement and joy (Psalm 100:2).

Gladness must precede singing for it to be acceptable. Without joy, your praise is lifeless. Praise equals noise without joy; and a noise that is joyful is better than praise that is joyless. Do not waste your energy praising God in depression. Cast out that devil of depression. Expel depression from your life and praise God with excitement.

2. Praise God with revelation. When your praise is with revelation, you move from the realm of appreciation to the realm of celebration. When there is a Scriptural verse that gives you a certain assurance, it shifts your praise to another level.

3. Praise God in the beauty of holiness (2 Chronicles 20:21). Sin is a killer of praise; it kills the power of praise. You must relinquish sin in your life if your praise must be accepted by God. When you do this, the earth will release to you what belongs to you.

REMEMBER THIS: A noise that is joyful is better than praise that is joyless.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make a list of all the things that God has done for you from the beginning of the year till now and begin to thank Him for them.
  2. Praise God today with a heart of gratitude.

PRAYER: O LORD, I ask that You clothe me with the garment of praise. I will praise You forever, in Jesus’ Name.
