The Holy Spirit Will Overshadow You – Anglican Communion 25 March 2019

The Daily Fountain Daily Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) 25 March 2019 – The Holy Spirit Will Overshadow You

TOPIC: The Holy Spirit Will Overshadow You

READ: Luke 1:26-38 King James Version (KJV)

  1. Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
  2. to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
  3. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
  4. But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
  5. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
  6. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
  7. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
  8. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
  9. Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
  10. And the angel answered and said to her, “ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
  11. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
  12. For with God nothing will be impossible.”
  13. Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

THE MESSAGE:

Angel Gabriel told Mary that she had been chosen to become the mother of Jesus. This message contravened scientific laws guiding human conception. However, the angel assured her that a visitation of the Holy Spirit turns impossibilities to possibilities. Mary’s miracle was already discussed, concluded and packaged in heaven without her knowledge. Heaven visited her on an unexpected day.

Note that Mary created an environment for her divine purpose to be accomplished. She was chaste, though engaged (verse 7), an eroded quality today among the young and old. She was open to learn (verse 34) unlike some who are content to sit in ignorance about biblical truths and doctrines. Mary believed God’s word, acted by faith and spoke positively even before seeing changes in her body (verse 38). Learn from Mary. Always create a positive environment for heavenly visitation.

The Holy Spirit will come and overshadow your family and challenging situations. He will change the situations which have defied human strength and knowledge. So get ready for you are packaged for a miracle.

Prayer: Father help me to always expect and create an environment for heavenly visitation.

Seeds of Destiny 25 March 2019 Devotional – Discerning The Voice Of God

Topic: Discerning The Voice Of God [Seeds of Destiny 25 March 2019 Devotional]

Inside the verse, there is a Voice and when you are familiar with the Voice in the verse, you can hear the Voice anywhere you are.

SCRIPTURE: The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. Psalms 29:3

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Inside the verse, there is a Voice and when you are familiar with the Voice in the verse, you can hear the Voice anywhere you are.

The Voice of God is very important in the fulfilment of life and destiny. The Voice of God reveals the thoughts and ways of God. The Voice of God is key to upliftment in life and destiny. When you know what to do, you would leave where you are. So, the Voice of God is key to a change of status.

Now, it is important to know that the Word of God connects a person to the Voice of God. According to our anchor Scripture, the Voice of the Lord is on the waters (Psalms 29:3). This means, if you want to hear the Voice of the Lord, look for the waters and what is the waters? It is the Word of God (Ephesians 5:26).

Beloved, the Word is the surest and easiest way of hearing God. The truth of the matter is, you can familiarize yourself with the Voice of God through the Word of God. When you hear His Voice from the Word, you can recognize it outside the Word. When you hear the Voice of God from the Word of God, you can recognise it outside the Word of God. Inside the verse, there is a Voice and when you are familiar with the Voice in the verse, you can hear the Voice in the bus, market place, kitchen and anywhere you are.

My counsel is, familiarise yourself with the Word of God always in order to recognise His voice outside the Word.

Remember this: Inside the verse, there is a Voice and when you are familiar with the Voice in the verse, you can hear the Voice anywhere you are.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Familiarize yourself with God’s Word by constant studies.
  2. Look out for the Voice of God in the Verses of the Scripture whenever you study God’s Word. As you study, ask, ‘Lord what are You saying here?’ and listen for what He says.

PRAYER: O Lord, I ask that You speak to me as I study Your Word. Help me to be acquainted with Your Voice from Your Word, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna 25 March 2019 – A Balanced Diet

Topic: A Balanced Diet [DCLM Daily Manna 25 March 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Matthew 10:34-42 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34).

MESSAGE:

Life is not always a bed of roses. Sometimes, a man passes through resilience beyond measure. At other times, life is simply “sweet”, too rosy to dismiss. In sum, life is a mixed grill of the good and the bad.

The Lord Jesus had shared with His disciples eternal perspectives and then some mountain-top experience conferred power and authority on them. While they were basking in that excitement, He immediately proceeded to tell them of the grim reality that they would face and a possible backlash from those who lacked maturity and might turn from the faith. The Great Shepherd surely knew and still knows how best to feed His flock!

Today’s religious people prefer sugarcoated messages which arouse their sensual dictates and massage their ego. No wonder healing, prosperity, and so-called dominion theology have seemingly relegated to the background the cross of Christ, holiness, self-denial and heaven. Mercifully, the foundation of God stands sure and those who mutilate, manipulate and twist the Word for carnal considerations, do so to their own eternal peril.

To maintain a mature Christian life that can usher us into God’s holy kingdom, we must have a balanced diet of every part of His commandment. No part of the word of God must be put aside as too hard, too simple or irrelevant.

Hearing or teaching only the “sweeter” side of the gospel without accepting the sacrifices, consecration and the cross to bear, is like feeding only on meals with a heavy sugar content without taking into consideration the possibility of one’s health being impaired eventually. Whether sweet or bitter, the whole counsel of God must be heartily accepted and graciously applied (James 1:22).

Thought For The Day: The milk and the bone of God’s word must be readily received and humbly obeyed.

MFM Daily Devotional 25 March 2019 – Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (I)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 25 March 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (I)

TOPIC: Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 25 March 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 19-21; Luke 2:25-52

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 12:10-15

MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.” – Genesis 12:7

The MESSAGE:

God gave Abraham the land of Canaan where all the promises made to him were to be accomplished. It was Abraham’s personal decision to go down to Egypt without consulting God and obviously this was outside the plan of God. The decision eventually made Abraham to take over the control of his life from the hands of God who had made wonderful promises to him. He left God out of his calculations and soon became a victim of self-imposed circumstances.

In the first instance, he considered a strange land better than the one God had given him because of the famine in Canaan. He failed to realise that God alone is in control of circumstances. You are safer in a famine in His will than in a palace out of His will. The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you. Abraham failed the test of circumstances and turned from the will of God. Once in Egypt, Abraham faced a new set of problems. If you run away from one test, you will soon face another. Once you enroll in “the school of faith”, you are not allowed to “drop out” just because of one failure. God has purposes to fulfil in you and through you; He will do all that is necessary to make you succeed (Psalms 138:8; Philippians 1:6).

In Canaan, all Abraham had to deal with was a famine; but in Egypt, he had to engage in deception as a means of survival. This is what often happens to many people who leave their homeland for uncertain opportunities in a strange land. Abraham moved from trusting to scheming as he abandoned his altar in Canaan. When you stop trusting God’s word, you start leaning on man’s wisdom; and this leads to trouble. When you find yourself scheming in order to escape problems with people, beware, worse trouble is coming! Abraham also moved from confidence to fear. When you are in the place of God’s choice, you do not need to be afraid for faith and fear cannot dwell in the same heart. The fear of God is the fear that conquers every fear, but the fear of man brings a snare (Proverbs 29:25). God had repeatedly said, “I will” to Abraham, but now Abraham was saying “They will” (Genesis 12:12). He took his eyes off the Lord and started looking at people.

Another change took place in Abraham’s life. He moved from “others” to self. He lied and traded off his wife so that it might be well with him. As the husband, Abraham should have thought first of his wife before going to Egypt, and not thinking selfishly of his own safety upon getting to Egypt. This shows that a husband operating outside the will of God can bring untold trouble to his wife and family. His lie led to the near loss of his wife if not for divine intervention. By this, he moved from bringing blessing to bringing judgement upon Pharoah and his household. Abraham lost his testimony before unbelievers and had to face embarrassment and rebuke.

Abraham eventually learned his lesson, repented and went out of Egypt. When you disobey the will of God, the only right thing to do is to go back to the place where you left Him and make a new beginning. No failure is permanent in the school of faith. Abraham went back to his tent and altar and the life of a pilgrim and stranger. If your altar is presently abandoned or sick, retrace your steps, go back to the Lord and firm up your relationship afresh that it may be well with you and your household. The peace of God be with you, in Jesus’ mighty name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
NEVER ABANDON YOUR ALTAR AND NEVER LEAVE GOD OUT OF YOUR CALCULATIONS.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Heaven shall favour you today.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O God my Father, have mercy on me and deliver me from lying lips, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Every spirit of insecurity making me to shift my Christian grounds, release me and die, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Every embarrassment and ridicule I have suffered resulting from lying lips, blood of Jesus, wash it away from my life, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. Powers that have captured my most precious gift, release it now by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  5. O God my Father, I return to You today, revive Your fire in my life, in the name of Jesus.
  6. My altar, receive fresh revival fire, in the name of Jesus.
  7. My Father, I come before You today, lead me in the way I should go, in the name of Jesus.

Stop Bullying – Open Heavens for Teens 25 March 2019

Topic Stop Bullying [Open Heavens for Teens 25 March 2019]

Memorise: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.” – Isaiah 35:3
(Give strength to hands that are tired and to knees that tremble with weakness. GNT)

Read: Matthew 15:1-2

1.Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2.Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 14-15, Luke 4:33-44

MESSAGE:

Bullying is intentionally abusing, intimidating or aggressively dominating someone else. Bullies are those who chose to make other people feel unsafe and afraid. The most common type of bullying is physical bullying like picking on someone obviously smaller than you and beating them up. But there is also another form of bullying, that you must be aware of and desist from. This is verbal bullying, it is intentionally saying hateful and hurtful things about someone, it also involves intentionally spreading rumours, persistent teasing and name calling.

You must always remember that God loves everyone on earth and he cares very deeply for everyone of us. It is with this same love and care that God expects us to treat everyone we meet. In fact, when you decide to treat people badly, God is unhappy (Matthew 25:34-44). You are to be good to everyone, you are to treat everyone with respect and honour. As Christian, you are the one to stand up against bullies. You should be fighting for and shielding the weak around you.

Key Point:Make it a point of duty to treat everyone you meet with love and respect.

Hymn 13:

1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

2. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying
The Savior who does on the cross

3. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation?
To those who are dying in sin?

4. We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.

Be Sensitive – Billy Graham Devotional 25 March 2019

Topic: Be Sensitive [Billy Graham Devotional 25 March 2019]

If a person isn’t loving and kind, it shows that he doesn’t know God—for God is love. — 1 John 4:8 (TLB)

Jesus wept tears of compassion at the graveside of a friend. He mourned over Jerusalem because as a city it had lost its appreciation of the things of the Spirit. His great heart was sensitive to the needs of others. To emphasize the importance of man’s love for men, He revised an old commandment to make it read, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart . . . and thy neighbor as thyself.” This generation is rough and tough. I heard a little boy boasting one day about how tough he was. He said, “On the street I live on, the farther out you go the tougher they get, and I live in the last house.” Until you have learned the value of compassionately sharing others’ sorrow, distress, and misfortune, you cannot know real happiness.

Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus, sensitize my heart with Your compassion so that I may truly love.

Open Heaven 25 March 2019 – Sinner Turned Saint

Open Heaven 25 March 2019 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Sinner Turned Saint

Topic: Sinner Turned Saint (Open Heaven 25 March 2019)

Memorise: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”- 1 Timothy 1:15

Read: 1 John 1:7-10 (KJV)

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Bible in One Year: Ephesians 1-3, Jeremiah 5:1-17

Open Heaven 25 March 2019 Monday MESSAGE:

Some people make defeatist statements about sin in order to justify their sinful lifestyle. Such people admit that everyone born of a woman is a sinner, but they hypocritically ignore the fact that has made provision available to turn every sinner into a saint by the power of atonement in the Blood of Jesus. One of the foremost apostles of Jesus Christ, Paul, in today’s memory verse affirms that a sinner can become a saint if he or she is willing to be transformed. The unwillingness of a sinner to be transformed into a saint through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ is what condemns him or her to eternal damnation. John 3:18-19 says:

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

God is not interested in condemning anyone, and this is why He says to all in Isaiah 1:18-19:

“18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:”

Jesus is still calling all those who labor and are heavy laden under the yoke of sin to come to him for rest (Matthew 11:28). When anyone comes to Jesus with a repentant heart and cry for mercy, He will abundantly pardon their sins (Isaiah 55:7). It is therefore important for people to take responsibility for their sins in order to receive pardon. Many people shift the blame for their sinful lifestyle to everything but themselves. Instead of acknowledging and confessing their sins and deciding to abandon the sinful act that have held them bound or so long, they keep making excuses. For example, some thieves and harlots will blame their sinful lifestyle on the economic recession in their country. If you have been wallowing in sin and passing the blame, I invite you today to come to Jesus Christ for pardon and experience a pleasant turnaround. In prayer, acknowledge and confess all your sins, asking Jesus to cleanse you with His Blood and to receive you into His family. Also, promise Him never to go back to your old lifestyle again. If you do this, Christ will cleanse you and transform you into a new creature in Him as He promised in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

1. Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

2. Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

3. When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white!
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for His presence bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

4. Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Christian parent sues London school over gay pride event

Izoduwa Montogue refused to allow her 4-year-old son to take part despite being told he couldn’t be removed from the class at Heavers Farm School in Croydon.

She claims her family has been victimised since she made a complaint.

Mrs Montogue said: “After I complained about my young child being forced to take place in an event that goes against our Christian beliefs, the school’s attitude towards me changed completely. I know other parents who are afraid to speak up because of how the school has treated me.

“It was like being bullied. They stopped treating me like any other parent but were antagonistic towards me. I believe that they retaliated against me by unreasonably excluding me from the premises, victimising my child and not taking my safeguarding concerns seriously.

“I wasn’t even trying to stop the Pride event. I just wanted my child to receive an education, rather than indoctrination.”

She’s now taken formal legal action against the school and Croydon Council alleging a breach of her parental rights, victimisation and harassment at the hands of the school.

The parent has also filed a complaint with Damian Hinds, the education secretary, asking him to “use his authority to remedy the pervasive nature of LGBT proselytism within Heavers Farm Primary School”.

Montogue is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.

Spokesman Roger Kiska told Premier he’s been…

The Message of Faith – Rhapsody of Realities 25 March 2019

Rhapsody of Realities 25 March 2019 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome – The Message of Faith

Topic: The Message of Faith

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

When Jesus ministered, faith came alive in the hearts of His hearers. He let them know who God is, His eternal will, and what He’s already done for them. He said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). In Mark 11:22-23, He taught the people, saying, “…Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Neither the Pharisees nor the Sadducees ever taught the people about having the God-kind of faith, about believing and receiving. Many were enthralled by His message, because it inspired faith in their hearts towards God. They had thought that God only blessed whomever He chose. They had assumed that God wasn’t concerned about them. But Jesus taught that God loves everyone unconditionally, and all it takes to receive from Him is to simply believe: “…If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23).

As they watched Him cast out devils, open blind eyes, unstop deaf ears, and even raise the dead with an unusual demonstration of authority, many were convinced and had faith in the Father’s love for them. The Bible says many believed in His name, when they saw the miracles that He did (John 2:23). His message made it possible for them to believe and relate to a God that they couldn’t see physically. He made the Father real to them through His message of faith.

That’s the same message He sent us to preach and teach around the world. He said in John 20:21, “…as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” If today, you’re faced with a situation that seems to have defied solution, you can trust God for a miracle. It makes no difference what the case is; only believe! It makes no difference if it’s a dead womb, a dead body, a dead business, or some other problem. He’s the God who “quickens” the dead! He gives life to the dead, and can breathe life into any seemingly dead situation. Glory to His Name forever!

PRAYER
Dear Father, you’re the great God of glory, and I worship you for your greatness, your love, your mercy, and your kindness. Thank you for giving me a victorious and glorious life in Christ; I win today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Christian charity urges prayer for all at sea as Britons tell of ‘frightening’ evacuation from cruise

Two hundred Britons were on board the Viking Sky ship which sent a mayday call after losing engine power.

Footage online appeared to show the ship rocking dramatically, with debris falling from the ceiling and furniture including chairs sliding across the floor as passengers sat waiting to be rescued.

Derek and Esther Browne, from Hampshire, said the “whole boat was swaying, it was very rough” before they were airlifted to safety.

Mr Browne told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Stephen Nolan: “We had a few people on stretchers, several with cuts, two with broken limbs, but fortunately we were alright. We were airlifted onto the helicopter which was quite a frightening experience.”

PA

Addressing the dangers of being sea travel, John Green from the Apostleship of the Sea said: “Obviously, the passengers are on their holiday, on a vacation and this really is something that they wouldn’t have expected, but what it really highlights is actually the sea, despite our advances in technology is really still a force to be reckoned with.

“The crew on the other hand, they would have received training for such circumstances but when such an eventuality like this does occur, the levels of stress and the demands on the crew are really going to be quite high.”

Calling on Christians to use this case as a reminder to pray for those at sea, he said:…
