1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

Open Heaven 20 February 2019 Wednesday MESSAGE:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. – Philippians 2:6-8

The above verse beautifully captures the extent of Christ’s sacrifice in order to bring salvation to all of mankind. Even though He was God, he brought Himself low for the purpose of extending His mercy to all sinners, irrespective of how much evil they had done. Speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Luke 1:78-79, Zechariah described Christ’s coming as salvation brought to us through the tender mercy of God:

“78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

This salvation did not come to us as a reward for any good deeds on our part: rather, it is a gift given to us by God’s mercy, through the spotless righteousness of Christ. When a sinner realizes that he or she is in a hopeless situation, condemned to eternal death and in incapable of doing anything to change the situation, and he or she comes in faith to receive a new beginning from Jesus Christ, the merciful Saviour, this person is ushered into a new covenant with God. One of the articles of this new covenant which begins to work in the life of such a fellow is described in Hebrew 8:12, which says:

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

How marvelous is the mercy of our God to wash away our past into the sea of forgetfulness!

Salvation is the exclusive prerogative of God alone; there is no human effort involved in securing it. So then, it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God who shows mercy (Romans 9:16). God has worked out everything in our favour through Jesus Christ His Son. He has shown us His mercy by granting us salvation, making it available for all mankind, irrespective of race, color, language or culture. The least you can do to express your gratitude to Him is to accept His love and mercy today by giving your life to Jesus, proclaiming Him as your Lord and Saviour. When you do this, He will give you peace, joy and eternal life.

Topic: Out Of Satan’s Jurisdiction

Giving thanks unto the Father…Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Colossians 1:12-13).

The word translated “delivered” above is the Greek “rhuomai,” which means to pluck or take something out of where it is, and pull it to yourself. God didn’t just take us out of the domain of darkness and leave us in limbo; He brought us into the Kingdom of His love-Son, to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the Kingdom of light.

You’ve been taken out of the power, dominion, control, and authority of darkness, into absolute safety; the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Therefore, you’re not under Satan’s jurisdiction; he has no authority over you whatsoever; he can’t decide what happens with you.

There’s nothing of darkness in you. Darkness represents evil; evil powers and all their works. It represents all that’s destructive, and negative to you; everything that makes a lie and works against the purposes of God. Darkness refers to Satan’s dominion. But thanks be unto God! You’ve been taken out of all such influences, and brought into God’s marvelous light.

What is it that hurts or binds? Is it sickness that’s attacking your body? Is fear trying to take a hold of you? Is it fear of failure, fear of darkness, fear of the future, or any other kind of fear? All of these belong in the domain of darkness, the jurisdiction of Satan; but you live far above them!

Ephesians 2:6 says God has “…raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” You occupy the position of power, authority and dominion, where you reign and rule with Christ over Satan and his works of darkness.

Even now, you can release yourself from any bondage of the mind; free yourself from the shackles of deception. Tell yourself, “I’m not under Satan’s jurisdiction,” and walk free. It’s that simple. It doesn’t matter what your experiences might have been before now, you don’t need deliverance from the devil; act on the Word and walk free!

Notice again the tenses in our theme scripture: God already transferred or catapulted you out of Satan’s domain; you don’t belong there. Therefore, you have the right to cast-off anything, and everything, that’s of darkness. All it takes is your word; give the word and effect a change. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I dwell in the Kingdom of God’s love-Son, wherein is no darkness at all; I’m reigning in union with the Lord, enjoying my blessed life in Christ. Glory to God!

Topic – Joy: A Very Real Force [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 20 February 2019]

The joy of the Lord is your strength. – Nehemiah 8:10

Joy. It’s not a warm, happy feeling you’re supposed to have now and then when things are going well. It’s much more than that. Joy is one of the most powerful spiritual forces in the world.

Look again at Nehemiah 8:10 and I’ll show you why. If you were to diagram that scripture and remove the phrase, “of the Lord,” you would find what it’s truly saying is this: Joy is strength. The two are interchangeable.

That’s what makes joy so crucial. You can’t live a life of faith without being strong in the Lord—and when God wants to make you strong, joy is what He uses to do the job!

Joy is not just a state of mind. It is not a fleeting emotion. Joy is a very real force, and the devil doesn’t have anything that can stand up against it. Just as fear has to yield to faith, discouragement has to yield to joy.

Since joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, you already have it residing within you. But you must develop it, confess it and live by it if you want to enjoy its power.

Whatever circumstances you are facing today, you can be full of joy. You can be strong in the Lord. You can draw on the supply of the Holy Spirit within you and come out on top.

Rejoice!

Mark 1:37, “And when they had found him, they said unto him, All [men] seek for thee.”

Text: MK. 1:35-39; LK. 4:42-44

This is an amazing statement. Jesus’ ministry was only a few months old and the masses of people were already seeking him out.

This is even more astonishing when you realize that Jesus had not used any of the conventional methods of publicity. In fact, Jesus had already rejected publicity during His first ministry in Jerusalem (Jn. 2:24-25). There was no natural explanation for Jesus’ success.

God is the one who promoted Jesus. And He used supernatural means to do it. It was not the slick techniques of Madison Avenue that brought the crowds–it was the awesome manifestation of God’s power.

Just the day before, Jesus had cast the demon out of a man at the synagogue in Capernaum (Mk. 1:21-28). This caused the whole city to gather at Peter’s house and Jesus healed every one of them (Lk. 4:40).

Jesus’ display of the miraculous power of God was the spark that the Holy Spirit used to light a fire in the hearts of these people. Jesus had this power because of His intimate relationship with His father. It is no accident that He was praying while all men were seeking Him.

As you seek to touch others with the new life that you’ve found in Christ, let God confirm His Word with the miraculous manifestations of His power through you.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. — Psalm 119:11

When temptations come, let me suggest that you ask God for strength-and also to show you the way He has prepared for your escape. One other word of counsel; be very sure that you do not deliberately place yourself in a position to be tempted. All of us are not subjected to the same weaknesses and temptations. To one, alcohol may be the temptation; to another, it may be impure thoughts and acts; to another, greed and covetousness; to another, criticism and an unloving attitude. Regardless of what it may be, be sure that Satan will tempt you at your weak point, not the strong.

Our Lord has given us an example of how to overcome the devil’s temptations. When He was tempted in the wilderness, He defeated Satan every time by the use of the Bible.

Prayer for the day: With the shield of Your Word, I will face temptation, almighty God.
