Ministry can be disheartening at times. Today, we discuss how you can stay encouraged in ministry.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Encouragement is often elusive for pastors.
  • People who encourage you are a gift.
  • When we think of others before ourselves, we often find encouragement in seeing how God is moving in the lives of others.
  • The more time you spend around encouraging people the more encouraging you will be.
  • Get to know other pastors in your area and encourage one another.

The seven encouragement ideas we discuss are:

  1. Practice Acts 6:4
  2. Be an encourager
  3. Stay outwardly focused
  4. Spend time with encouragers
  5. Be a continuous learner
  6. Find a network
  7. Delegate draining tasks

Victims of innocent suffering: Biblical help and hope

Stories about innocent suffering make the news daily.

Five watercolor paintings attributed to Adolf Hitler failed to sell at auction last weekend, reminding us that the Nazi dictator was a failed artist before inciting the deaths of six million Jews and twelve million other victims in World War II.

Nearly one hundred children have died in Africa from the second-deadliest outbreak of Ebola in history. More than eight hundred people have reported symptoms.

And the appalling report about clergy sexual abuse in the Southern Baptist Convention continues to make news today.

Tragically, no organization is immune to such abuse. The Roman Catholic Church continues to respond to reports of clergy abuse over the last several years. Sexual abuse scandals have rocked the Presbyterian Church USA, the Boy Scouts, gymnastics, swimming, hockey, college football, and political leaders as well.

A study found that nearly five hundred schoolteachers were arrested in 2015 on sexual abuse charges. Shockingly, about 10 percent of children in eighth through eleventh grades were found to have been subjected to some form of sexual abuse by an adult at school (most often a teacher or coach).

Where is God when such tragedies occur?

“Why have you forgotten me?”

Job 9 poignantly describes the pain innocent victims feel when God seems to fail them.

Job pictures the omnipotence of the One “who alone stretched out the heavens and trampled the waves of the sea . . . who does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number” (vv. 8, 10).

But this omnipotent God seems impervious to Job’s cries for help: “If I summoned him and he answered me, I would not believe that he was listening to my voice. For he crushes me with a tempest and multiplies my wounds without cause” (vv. 16-17). In fact, according to Job, “When disaster brings sudden death, he mocks at the calamity of the innocent” (v. 23).

This must be how many victims of sexual abuse feel…

Hollywood actor Chris Pratt denies attending ‘anti-LGBTQ’ church

Page, who is openly gay, replied to a tweet that said Pratt was about to discuss his “spiritual side” during an appearance on a US talk show.

She said: “Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?”

Page (below), known for starring in films including Juno and Inception, later added: “If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed.”

Wikimedia Commons

Jurassic World star Pratt, 39, has now responded to the controversy and defending his place of worship.

However, he did not specify which church he attends, amid conflicting reports online.

Writing on his Instagram stories, he said: “It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti -LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth.

“I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”

Gage Skidmore

Pratt said the church was, “there for me every step of the way” during his divorce from actress Anna Faris, and that it offers “love and support” regardless of “sexual orientation, race or gender”.

Pratt added he is not a “spokesman for any church” and that “we need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes…

Joyce Meyer Devotional 12 February 2019 — Fear Not!

Topic: Fear Not! [Joyce Meyer Devotional 12 February 2019]

…the Spirit helps us in our weakness… — Romans 8:26

Satan is a liar. He lies to people and places images on the picture screen of their minds that show defeat and embarrassment. For this reason, we need to know God’s promises (His Word) so we can cast down the lies of the enemy and refuse to listen to him.

Fear seems to be an epidemic in our society. Are you afraid of anything? Is it rejection, failure, the past, the future, loneliness, driving, aging, the dark, heights, life, or death? The list of fears that people experience can be endless.

Satan never runs out of new fears to place in any individual’s life. At least not until they firmly make their mind up that they will not live in fear.

You can trade in pain and paralysis for power and excitement. Don’t allow feelings of any kind to dominate you, but instead remember that God says, “Fear not.” We must be determined that we will obey Him in this area. Fear may present itself as a feeling, but if we refuse to bow down to it, that is all it is… a feeling!

Prayer Starter: Father, help me to “fear not” as I go about my day. When I am anxious, nervous, worried or fearful, remind me of Your great love. Help me to lean on Your Word and constantly expose the lies of the enemy. Thank You for being with me today and always. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TREM Devotional 12 February 2019 – Connect To The Word

Topic: Connect To The Word [TREM Devotional 12 February 2019]

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63 KJV

Beloved, you can continuously connect to the supernatural by connecting to the Word of God. The Word is Spirit, which means if I have the Word of God, I am operating in the Spirit. “It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing” Stop looking for ‘I must see it before I know it is supernatural. Since I didn’t see, He has not moved.’ No, it is the Spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing. When the Bible talks about flesh, it is talking about carnality. Carnality is not totally a bad word. It means people who walk by their sight, who go by their feelings, who go by what they hear and who go by what they touch. ‘Until I can see and touch it, I won’t believe God has done it.’ That is carnality!

Jesus said it is the Spirit that makes alive. It is the Spirit that energises you. “The flesh profiteth nothing. The word that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” That means if I connect to the Word, I will be operating in the Spirit and life, in Zoe, God’s kind of life! When I am connected to what He said about me, I will be operating in the Spirit. Not only that, I will be walking in His own kind of life. When you received Christ into your life, your life moved from natural to supernatural. Everyone that is born-again is supernatural. You are not ordinary! The only reason you live in this natural world is to express your supernatural manifestation.

Your assignment is to connect to the Word. “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 KJV) Only the Word has the capacity to penetrate every aspect of man.

MFM Daily Devotional 12 February 2019 – Too Busy To Pray (I)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 12 February 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Too Busy To Pray (I)

TOPIC: Too Busy To Pray (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 12 February 2019)

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 13; Matthew 26:26-50

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Daniel 6:3-11

MEMORY VERSE: “Pray without ceasing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

The MESSAGE:

One of the evil of our time is that Christians become too busy with all kinds of activities and abandon prayer; their lifeline and life wire. Some become so busy, engrossed and passionate about their career and business that they don’t even observe their Quite Time before they get out of the house in the morning and are too tired to even pray by the time they return very late in the night. Their lives have become such an unpleasant routine. Some ministers too are guilty of this. They are so busy with church programmes and activities day in day out, that they hardly devote sufficient time to personally wait on the Lord and renew their own strength.

Failure to do Quite Time (study the Bible and pray consistently everyday), is one of the causes of powerlessness in our age. Modern day Christians are too busy to seek God, too busy to pray and too busy too study their Bibles. Many are busy serving tables instead of focusing on the ministry of the word and prayer. How are they serving tables? The same people who have no time for the word of God and prayer devote their time and God-given resources to throwing parties and attending parties almost every weekend. They give quality time to their career and business but no time to develop their spiritual lives. That is why many are very vulnerable and are easy preys for the devil. They are empty and defenseless spiritually. They receive just one blow from the devil and they are on the floor.

If you are too lazy to study the word and pray and build quality relationship with God, your life will be dry and meaningless. There is no true success outside God. When such spiritually lazy folks run into problems, they go to pastors who pray for them, then tell them to fast and give them prayers to pray. They often tell such pastors, “Sir, I have never fasted before. In fact the doctor said I have ulcer. I am on a medication. Can you help me to do the fast and the prayer? Just tell me any amount to pay. I will pay it.” Those are the lazy Christians. They are only deceiving themselves.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
PRAYER DOES NOT CHANGE GOD BUT IT CHANGES THE ONE WHO PRAYS.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your prayers shall bring you dumbfounding testimonies.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O God, help me to understand the privilege and benefits of prayers, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Anything assigned to keep me from praying, die, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Father, deliver my spiritual life from dryness, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. I reject satanic distractions, in the name of Jesus.
  5. O Lord, plug me into the socket of Your power, in the name of Jesus.
  6. I will not abandon God’s word and prayer to serve tables, in the name of Jesus.
  7. O Lord, deliver me from spiritual laziness and ignorance, in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of Destiny 12 February 2019 Devotional – Surely, There Is An End!

Topic: Surely, There Is An End! [Seeds of Destiny 12 February 2019 Devotional]

SCRIPTURE: For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. – Proverbs 23:18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no endless night situation of life.

Our anchor Scripture reveals that there is an end to every situation of captivity in life. Everything that has a beginning equally has an end. You might be passing through some difficult situations of life and may be thinking that there is no end; but the truth is, there is an end.

Therefore, I would like you to take note of the following key facts:

  1. There is no night that has no end
There is no endless night situation of life. No matter how dark a night may appear, the day must break. In the same way, no matter how dark the night situation of your life may be, your day must surely break.
  2. There is no endless journey
Any journey of life that has a beginning equally has an end; there is no journey that continues forever. Beloved, no matter how far you have gone on the journey of life, that journey must come to an end.
  3. There is no endless examination
There is no endless temptation; there is no endless examination. There is no test of life that lasts forever. So, do not let any devil deceive you that what you are passing through would never end.
  4. There is no door without a key
There is no keyless door. Even if the key is lost, the lock can be changed or even broken for a possible entry. Beloved, no door can be closed against you forever; it can be opened.

My counsel is, arm yourself with the revelation that no matter what the condition of your life is, there is an end.

Remember this: There is no endless night situation of life.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Go through today’s message again.
  2. Ask God to fulfil His promises in your life.

PRAYER: Father, I ask that You bring every night situation of my life to an end today, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY READING: Exodus 34:1 to 35:9, Matthew 27:15 to 31, Psalm 33:12 to 22, Proverbs 9:1 to 6.

AMAZING FACT: Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.

TODAY IN HISTORY: 12/02/1809 – On this day, Abraham Lincoln was born; he later became the 16th president of the United States.

Open Heavens for Teens 12 February 2019 – Restoring Divine Communication

Topic: Restoring Divine Communication [Open Heavens for Teens 12 February 2019]

Memorise: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10

Read: Luke 15:11-20

11 And He said, There was a certain man who had two sons;

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the part of the property that falls [to me]. And he divided the estate between them.

13 And not many days after that, the younger son gathered up all that he had and journeyed into a distant country, and there he wasted his fortune in reckless and loose [from restraint] living.

14 And when he had spent all he had, a mighty famine came upon that country, and he began to fall behind and be in want.

15 So he went and forced (glued) himself upon one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed hogs.

16 And he would gladly have fed on and filled his belly with the carob pods that the hogs were eating, but [they could not satisfy his hunger and] nobody gave him anything [better].

17 Then when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have enough food, and [even food] to spare, but I am perishing (dying) here of hunger!

18 I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.

19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; [just] make me like one of your hired servants.

20 So he got up and came to his [own] father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with pity and tenderness [for him]; and he ran and embraced him and kissed him [fervently].

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 14, Matthew 26:55-75

MESSAGE:

When the governance of the earth changed hands from men to Satan, communion with God was destroyed (Genesis 3:9-10). Adam ran from God because he was in sin. A sinner will keep running from the face of God until he deals with his sins (Proverbs 28:1). When a man sins, the first thing that happens is that he is cut off from God because sin is an abomination unto Him (Isaiah 59:1-2). The good news is that a lost communion with God can be restored if you examine yourself, locate areas of disobedience to God and repent. As long as you are sweeping sins under the carpet or retaining what He forbids, God can blank out on you.

It is a terrible thing to be cut out from God, it is better not to have known Him at all. David wrote the entire Psalm 51 crying for God to restore communication with Him after he had sinned. If you already know God, hold fast to Him through holiness so that you will never experience the torment of being ex-communicated from Him.

Key Point:

Have you experienced a broken communication with God? As you repent from its cause, it will be restored today in Jesus’ name.

Hymn 14

1. O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2. The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3. Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4. O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
