MEMORY VERSE: “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” – James 4:10

The MESSAGE:

Jesus capped His model prayer with this golden line: “Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.” Anyone, king or subject, prince or pauper, rich or poor, great or lowly, who does not give glory to God (to whom all glory belongs) will experience shame and reproach. If the person is highly placed, he or she will be cast down into valley of ignominy.

Beloved, it is dangerous to ascribe God’s glory to yourself. Do not fail to give glory to God for all the things and in all things, all the time. When you do, the King of Glory Himself will manifest His glory, honour, power and blessing in higher dimension and endlessly in your life.

Why do people ascribe the glory that belongs to God to themselves? The first reason is pride. A proud person does not ever want anyone to be better than he is or will not admit that anyone is better. A proud person has exaggerated idea of his importance and puffs at everyone. The Bible says that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Be humble!

The second reason people ascribe the glory that belongs to God to themselves is failure to die to self or lack of brokenness. Seeking glory for oneself is the work of the flesh. You should die to self -daily. Beloved, when you make humility a lifestyle, when you die to self and make praising God a daily habit, you will be free from the temptation of ascribing God’s glory to yourself and escape the punishment attached to such a misdeed. Don’t try to take the glory that belongs to God. Be wise!

Text: Nehemiah 8:9-18 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them” (Nehemiah 8:12).

MESSAGE:

News had reached Nehemiah of the sorry state of the beloved capital of the Jewish nation together with the burning of it gates, thus exposing it to further desecration. He did first things first: he went to God asking for mercy and for the Lord to touch the heart of the king concerning his request to be away for God’s work in Jerusalem.

These petitions were granted and Nehemiah, now in Jerusalem promptly discerned the task at hand. He discovered the missing link in the returning Jews: they needed spiritual revival. Restoration was required to heal the nation’s tattered spirit that hung on them like old discarded garments. Revival did not lie in the words or homilies of man but in the word of God. The people must be led into the Law of Jehovah; they must be aware of His promises to comfort the despondent.

There was a season of mourning among the Jews, who appeared disconsolate in view of the widespread destruction of Jerusalem. But after the Law of Moses was delivered to them by Ezra the scribe and the Levites, their emotions changed to excitement and joy. It confirms David’s submission in Psalm 19:8: “The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

God is also addressing today’s world which desperately needs revival and joy. As the Jews had joy, revival and restoration through receiving the Word of God, the Word still heals the sorrowful, the weary and downcast. God is the Source of revivals that produce true joy.

SCRIPTURE: And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:34

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Praying in the spirit quickens, renews, revives, revivifies, revitalizes, animates, irrigates and vivifies your mortal body in order for you to stay healthy always.

The Scripture makes it clear that it is the will of God for His children to live in a state of perfect and permanent health (3 John 2). This is why God created us in His sick-less Image (Genesis 1:28). Even when this Image of the sick-less God was lost through Adam by the instrumentality of sin in the Garden of Eden, God restored us to a perfect state of Health by allowing His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the Cross of Calvary.

Now, how then do we access this permanent state of healthy living?

Let me give you three keys:

  1. Maintain vibrant faith
    A lively faith is key to living in Divine health (Mark 5:34). Faith is reflected in what you think, speak and do (Matthew 9:29).
  2. Maintain a steady diet God’s Word
    God’s Word is key to Divine health (Proverbs 4:20-22). To hear God’s Word is to be healed (Luke 5:15). When you feed your spirit with God’s Word, it keeps you in a state of perfect health.
  3. Maintain a vibrant flow of the Spirit
    Praying in the spirit is key to living a healthy life (Romans 8:11). Beloved, there is a strength that money cannot give; it is the strength that comes from praying in the spirit. Praying in the spirit quickens, renews, revives, revivifies, revitalizes, animates, irrigates and vivifies your mortal body in order for you to stay healthy always.

Beloved, when you combine a vibrant faith, steady diet of God’s Word with praying in the spirit, you have the guarantee of enjoying Divine Health.

REMEMBER THIS: Praying in the spirit quickens, renews, revives, revivifies, revitalizes, animates, irrigates and vivifies your mortal body in order for you to stay healthy always.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Maintain a vibrant faith for Divine health.
  2. Maintain a steady diet of the Word.
  3. Pray in the Spirit abundantly.

MESSAGE:

A report is the result of an action or event. There are good reports and there are bad reports. God is telling us today to only think on the good reports.

Many times, you get scared of trying something because somebody tried it and failed. Sometimes, you start doing it, but you keep thinking about the people who failed at it. God says “Think on the good reports”. Someone may have failed at it, but someone else also succeeded at it, think of that one person who succeeded. Someone might not have passed through what you are passing through now and did not pull through, but other people passed through it and they overcame, think of those ones that overcame.

There is a popular song by the legendary Dr. Ron Kenoly where the lead singer calls: “Whose report will you believe?” And everyone responds: “I Shall believe the report of the Lord, His report says I am healed, His report says I am filled, His report says I am free, His report says victory!

Key Point:

Kill the thoughts of the bad reports and focus on the good reports so that you can have victory.

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Acts 9:1-22

Before I met Jesus, I’d been wounded so deeply that I avoided close relationships in fear of being hurt more. My mom remained my closest friend, until I married Alan. Seven years later and on the verge of divorce, I toted our kindergartner, Xavier, into a church service. I sat near the exit door, afraid to trust but desperate for help.

Thankfully, believers reached out, prayed for our family, and taught me how to nurture a relationship with God through prayer and Bible reading. Over time, the love of Christ and His followers changed me.

Two years after that first church service, Alan, Xavier, and I asked to be baptized. Sometime later, during one of our weekly conversations, my mom said, “You’re different. Tell me more about Jesus.” A few months passed and she too accepted Christ as her Savior.

Jesus transforms lives . . . lives like Saul’s, one of the most feared persecutors of the church until his encounter with Christ (Acts 9:1–5). Others helped Saul learn more about Jesus (vv. 17–19). His drastic transformation added to the credibility of his Spirit-empowered teaching (vv. 20–22).

Our first personal encounter with Jesus may not be as dramatic as Saul’s. Our life transformation may not be as quick or drastic. Still, as people notice how Christ’s love is changing us over time, we’ll have opportunities to tell others what He did for us.

Specific Religious Groups Denied Funding by Western Kentucky University


A Kentucky based university is marking some religious organizations ineligible for their annual $15,000 scholarship.


According to CBN News, Western Kentucky University awards the $15,000 “Citizenship & Social Justice” scholarship to several student organizations each year for their “ability to demonstrate a well-articulated vision, detailed plan, and high level of commitment to a substantial applied learning experience.”


Applicants are charged with pitching a service-oriented idea to the school that they will be expected to work on locally, domestically or abroad.


Not all organizations who demonstrate this ability are eligible for the award, however. According to Campus Reform, WKU’s Center for Citizenship & Social Justice Director Leah Ashwill said “faith-based projects that include proselytizing or evangelizing as part of the service experience” cannot receive this award. 


This would mean any religious group, including Christian groups, who work to share their religious beliefs, would be disqualified from eligibility.


Other groups that are ineligible include “projects which promote or advocate for a political candidate or party and internships that are required by a student’s degree program.”


According to Campus Reform, any religious group that does not practice evangelism is allowed to apply for the scholarship. This means that in order for…

Students at Sundance Explore Film through the Eyes of Faith


(RNS) — More than 200 seminary and Christian college students, faculty and others who view films through the eyes of faith attended the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, recently. They joined the nearly 125,000 celebrities, directors, producers, distributors, publicists, critics and fans who were attending the independent film festival, hosted annually in the small town.


The students were part of Windrider Forum, an initiative that began in 2005 with a few dozen students from Fuller Theological Seminary and Biola University. Now an official partner with the festival, Windrider hosts screenings for students from more than 20 Christian schools.


Keri Putnam, executive director of the Sundance Institute, welcomed the Windrider group to the festival, the key industry event for independent films made outside of the Hollywood production system. Putnam sees Windrider as a way to reach the faith community with story-driven films that probe important issues.


Windrider participants attended a private screening of “Clemency” and had an intense question-and-answer session with the director and producer of the film, which won the festival’s top prize: the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize Award.

Democrats Block Bill Banning Infanticide of Babies Who Survive Abortion


Democrats blocked a Senate bill Monday that would have required doctors to keep alive any baby that survives an abortion and “immediately” transport and admit it to the hospital.  


The bill was sponsored by Republican Sen Ben Sasse (Neb.), who requested “unanimous consent” for passage – an action that allows any one senator to block it. Democratic Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.) spoke up and objected, saying laws already existed to prohibit infanticide. She also said Sasse had misinterpreted the bill.


The bill, known as the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, applies only to cases “of an abortion or attempted abortion that results in a child born alive,” according to the text.


It says “any health care practitioner present” during such a case must “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child” as a “reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”


The bill further requires that the child born alive be “immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.”


Doctors, and not mothers, would be charged if a violation occurs. The bill builds on the Born-alive Infants Protection Act, which President Bush signedin 2002. That earlier bill gave protections to babies who survive…

A Netherlands church band together to stop the deportation of an Armenian family, and after 96 days of prayer, the government is allowing the family to stay.


According to NBC News, the Bethel Church in The Hague welcomed the Tamrazyn family into their church and then held a 96-day prayer service to prevent them from being deported. Netherlands’ laws prohibit police from entering houses of worship while services are underway, so, as long as the church was participating in a service, the Tamrazyns were safe from deportation. 


Relevant Magazine reports that after more than three-month of prayer and worship, the service finally ended on Tuesday when the country’s Cabinet decided to allow the Tamrazyns and several other families who were rejected for permanent residence to stay in the country. 


The family of five fled to the Netherlands some nine years ago, where they sought asylum from the Armenian government. After a strenuous process of seeking a legal asylum that yielded no results, the family, along with many others, were ordered to return to Armenia – a country the Dutch government deemed to be safe.


According to NBC News, immigration has long been an issue in the Netherlands. The outlet reports that the Netherland’s Liberal party, which has control of the parliament’s Lower House by one seat, is expected to lose its Senate majority in the…
