Seeds of Destiny 5 February 2019 Devotional – Confronting the Confrontation of Your Conviction

Topic: Confronting the Confrontation of Your Conviction [Seeds of Destiny 5 February 2019 Devotional]

SCRIPTURE: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Matthew 8:17.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you do not confront, you cannot conquer.

It has been confirmed that Revelation is key to possession; light is key to might and flight. What you perceive is what you possess and what you cannot see, you cannot seize. Therefore, light is very important in actualizing destiny.

However, there are confrontations against one’s convictions in life; they are things that confront what you believe to be true. When such confrontations arise, what to do is to confront them with God’s Word. When you confront them, they would give way for your conviction.

Now, let me give you a practical example: One day, a cousin of Papa Bishop David Oyedepo who is a doctor took his (Papa Oyedepo’s) blood pressure, and suddenly screamed at the result saying, ‘Aha! Sir, the machine shows that you have hypertension’. However, based on what God previously showed him from Matthew 8:17, he resisted the result vehemently and said, ‘No! I don’t have hypertension. What has been taken away on the cross cannot be there’. But the doctor said, ‘Sir, but the equipment is showing it’. Then Papa replied, ‘Well, maybe, it is your blood pressure that is showing on the machine because it is both of us that are touching the machine’. He confronted the confrontation of his conviction by resisting the result of the doctor and that was the end of that hypertension.

Beloved, what you do not confront, you cannot conquer. When the devil tries to tell you that what God reveals to you is not true, confront it by a prayer of faith and brutal word-based declaration.

Remember this: What you do not confront, you cannot conquer.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Refuse to believe every negative sign and symptom the devil is showing you in any area of your life.
  2. Confront every confrontation of your conviction by prayer and brutal word-based declaration.

PRAYER: O Lord, I refuse to accept everything that contradicts Your Word in my life. I confront every confrontation against my conviction in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens for Teens 5 February 2019 – Whatsoever Things Are Lovely

Topic: Whatsoever Things Are Lovely [Open Heavens for Teens 5 February 2019]

Memorise: “He hath made everything beautiful in His time:” – Ecclesiastes 3:11

Read: Philippians 4:8

8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Bible In One Year: Exodus 37-38, Matthew 23:23-39

MESSAGE:

Lovely things are things that are beautiful or attractive. Heaven, for example, is a very lovely place, everything in heaven is extremely beautiful and attractive. Heaven is also a place of extreme joy; no pain or sorrow in heaven. You should know that there is a correlation between thinking on lovely things and having joy.

Many teenagers are depressed today that they keep thinking of things that are lovely even though there are many lovely things around them to think of. If you find yourself in a state of depression, then it is time to quickly switch your thinking gear to the lovely things around you. It may seem like you do not have lovely friends, family or possessions to think of, look around you and think of God’s lovely creations; the birds singing with their lovely voices, the beautiful sky perfectly coloured in blue and white.

It may also seem like there is nothing lovely to think about in your past, think of the lovely future that God has promised you; that you will one day lend to nations (Deuteronomy 15:6), that you will heal the sick and raise the dead (Mark 16:17-18), that you will live a beautiful life with your children all around your table (Psalm 128:3).

Key Point:

Focus on the lovely things and let the joy of the Lord flow through you.

Hymn 10

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
  3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.

Our Daily Bread 5 February 2019 Devotional – Moves of the Heart

Topic: Moves of the Heart [Our Daily Bread 5 February 2019 Devotional]

Bible in a Year: Exodus 36–38; Matthew 23:1–22

Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. – Numbers 9:17

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Numbers 9:15-23

According to the US Census Bureau, Americans move from one address to another an average of eleven to twelve times during the course of a lifetime. In a recent year, 28 million people packed up, moved, and unpacked under a new roof.

During Israel’s forty years in the wilderness, the cloud of God’s presence led a whole family nation to make one move after another in anticipation of a new homeland. The account is so repetitious, it reads almost like a comedy. Over and over the huge family packed and unpacked not only its own belongings but also the tent and furnishings of the tabernacle, where the God of the cloud met with Moses (see Exodus 25:22).

Many years later, Jesus would give fuller meaning to the story of Israel’s moving days. Instead of leading from a cloud, He came in person. When He said, “Follow me” (Matthew 4:19), He began showing that the most important changes of address happen on roads of the heart. By leading both friends and enemies to the foot of a Roman cross, He showed how far the God of the cloud and tabernacle would go to rescue us.

Like changes of address, such moves of the heart are unsettling. But someday, from a window in our Father’s house, we’ll see that Jesus led us all the way.

Today’s Reflection
In what ways does choosing to follow God unsettle you? How might prayer help to strengthen your faith and trust in Him?

It’s Official: Boy Scouts Now Accepting Girls

It’s Official: Boy Scouts Now Accepting Girls

The Boy Scouts of America made history Friday when it officially changed its name and began accepting girls into all its scouting programs.

The 109-year-old organization had announced in 2017 it would make the historic transition. The change became official on Feb. 1 this year. The new name: Scouts BSA.

Troops will continue to be single gender, the organization said.

One mom of a girl now in Scouts BSA said her daughter wanted the same opportunities a brother had.

“We won’t be camping together,” mother Kim Foli told ABC News. “We won’t be infiltrating boy troops or taking over boy space. Boys still do have their own thing. This is just opening up the gates to allow for a new challenge for girls that want it.”

It is but the latest cultural shift for an organization that formerly was embraced by social conservatives. It voted in 2013 to allow gay Boy Scouts, and then in 2015 to permit gay adult leaders. In 2017, the then-Boy Scouts announced a policy to allow transgender children into Scouts.

A Christian alternative to the Boy Scouts, Trail Life USA, has seen growth in its membership since the Boy Scouts started changing its membership rules.

The Girl Scouts of the USA blasted the change to allow females when it was first announced.

“The Boy Scouts’ house is on fire,” the Girl Scouts told ABC News in 2017. “Instead of addressing systemic issues of…

Cathedral Bombing Appears to Make Terrorist Statement after Referendum in Philippines

Cathedral Bombing Appears to Make Terrorist Statement after Referendum in Philippines

MINDANAOPhilippines, February 4, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Christians in the insurgency-scarred southern Philippines who hoped for peace after the region won official status as an autonomous, Islamic sub-state last month received a mortifying message when Islamist terrorists bombed a Catholic cathedral on Jan. 27.

Members of the Islamic extremist rebel group Abu Sayyaf, which claims allegiance to Islamic State, aided the suicide attack and turned themselves into authorities over the weekend, lending credence to speculation that Islamist terrorists were sending a message in the bombing: There will be no peace.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año stated on Friday (Feb. 1) that Islamic State-affiliated terrorists were responsible for the twin suicide bombing of the worship service at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Jolo, Sulu Province, which killed at least 22 people and wounded more than 100 others.

Islamic State (IS) representatives took responsibility for the bombings in online postings shortly after the explosions, one inside the cathedral on Jolo, a small island off the coast of Mindanao, and another about 12 to 15 seconds later outside the doorway. Año said two Indonesian suicide bombers, one who went by the nom de guerre Abu Hud and his wife (unnamed), were guided by local rebels from the Islamic extremist Abu Sayyaf, which claims…

500 Inmates Are Saved after Texas Megachurch Opens Campus in Maximum Security Prison

500 Inmates Are Saved after Texas Megachurch Opens Campus in Maximum Security Prison

Gateway church announced last Sunday that they have opened up a new campus, and it’s at a nearby prison.

According to Relevant Magazine, Lead pastor Robert Morris for Gateway megachurch in Dallas, Texas, announced during Sunday’s service last week that a new campus had been planted at the Coffield Unit maximum security prison in Anderson County.

Fox News reports that 650 inmates attended the first Coffield Gateway service in November and since then over 500 men have dedicated their lives to Jesus.

“At Gateway Church, we’re all about people because God is all about people,” Morris told Fox News. “Many of the men and women inside prison have been forgotten by society, but we want them to know we love them and God loves them, and they are our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

According to Fox News, the Coffield campus is set up to run like any other campus and gives inmates the opportunity to serve. Inmates are tasked with greeting service attendees, being ushers, operating audio and visual equipment, forming a worship team, and staffing the service, the outlet reports.

The campus is pastored by Stephen Wilson who is an ex-offender. After getting out, Wilson turned his life around and went to seminary school which led him to share the gospel in prisons. Wilson told Fox that the plan for this ministry started seven years ago, and now it has…

3 Arrested after 7-Year-Old Boy Dies from Punishment for Not Knowing Bible Verses

3 Arrested after 7-Year-Old Boy Dies from Punishment for Not Knowing Bible Verses

Three people have been arrested for the death of a 7-year-old boy after they allegedly punished him for failing to memorize a list of Bible verses.

According to Fox News, 7-year-old Ethan was in Timothy and Tina Hauschultz care when they, along with their 15-year-old son, forced him to hold a log weighing nearly 50 pounds for two hours every day for a week.

The Medical Examiner determined that the 15-year-old hit and kicked Ethan around 100 times and put Ethan’s head in a puddle before rolling the 44-pound log on his chest and standing on his head and body. The teen then buried Ethan under a pile of snow causing him to die from hypothermia and blunt force trauma in April of 2018.

Fox News reports that the 15-year-old confessed to police that he was tasked with overseeing Ethan and his twin brother’s punishments. Reportedly, both children were undergoing this cruel treatment because they were unable to memorize 13 Bible verses selected by Timothy.

The relationship between the Ethan and the Hauschultz is not known at this time, but Ethan and two of his siblings, including his twin, were placed under the guardianship of the Hauschultz by court-appointment.

As the incident was unfolding, Ethan’s birth mother, Andrea Everett, was called to the scene, and upon arriving she learned that her son was dead.

She told Fox News, “When I got there…

Church minister warns school lessons on mindfulness should be fully secular

The plan was announced by the Education Secretary, Damian Hinds on Monday and involves children learning how to use a range of methods including breathing exercises to manage their emotions.

The trial will run until 2021and has been launched to mark Children’s Mental Health Week.

Shaun Lambert, who is senior minister at Stanmore Baptist Church and the author of a number of books on mindfulness, told Premier that Christian parents should check that the content of the teaching is fully secular and not tending towards Buddhism and other philosophies.

He said: “As Christian parents, we can practise discernment, so certainly under this sort of major trial, there should only be sort of tried and tested secular mindfulness practices that are being introduced. So there shouldn’t be anything that has a faith element to it. That’s the sort of question you can ask as a Christian parent.

“If these practices enable our children to sort of pay attention more clearly, to get less distracted, to cope better with exam nerves, you know, these are good things, but I think information and being well-informed is really important. And I think that’s one of the confusions – we’re not really sure what mindfulness is.”

Lambert said we all have capacities given to us by God which are mindful capacities, for attention, awareness, being able to regulate our emotions, being able to know what is…

Disney’s first-ever official LGBTQ parade, “Magical Pride,” is set for June 1 at Disneyland Paris.

“Dress like a dream, feel fabulous and experience Walt Disney Studios Park like never before – loud, proud and alive with all the colours of the rainbow,” Disneyland Paris says on its website.

The parade will kick off Pride Month.

“Diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year, we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender or sexual orientation,” a spokesperson for The Walt Disney Company told NBC News. “We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all of our Guests where magic is for everyone.”

While a “Magical Pride” parade has unofficially taken place at the park since 2014, this year’s parade is the first official pride event organized by Disney, a Magical Pride representative told CBS News. The parade will go through the streets of Walt Disney Studio Park.

The June 1 event will also feature late-night park hours and a dance party.

This is the latest new feature from Disney to celebrate and to support the LGBTQ community. In 2018, Disney started selling rainbow Mickey ears, the “Mickey Mouse Rainbow Love” hat, at its parks.

Open Heaven 5 February 2019 – Prepared For The Storm?

Open Heaven 5 February 2019 Tuesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Prepared For The Storm?

Topic: Prepared For The Storm? (Open Heaven 5 February 2019)

Memorise: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”- Hebrew 4:16

Read: Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Bible in One Year: Luke 20-21, Isaiah 32:9-33:9

Open Heaven 5 February 2019 Tuesday MESSAGE:

As seen in today’s Bible reading, the Holy Spirit often uses the characteristics of storms figuratively to teach about human situations. I therefore believe that understanding the nature of storms will help us triumph over the challenges of life. In the physical realm, storms are violent disturbances of the atmosphere, usually accompanied by rain, strong winds, thunder, lightning or snow. Approaching with high speed, storms often render their victims virtually helpless, leaving them with few or no options in terms of defense or counter attack. For this reason, storms can leave behind a trail of destruction of life and property of catastrophic magnitude.

The good news is, irrespective of their nature, God has control over storms! Even the strongest storms are subject to His authority. Nahum 1:3 declares that the Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and several other passages of the Bible depict God as walking on the wings of the wind and riding on storms (2 Samuel 22:11, Psalm 18:10, Psalm 104:3). Job 38:1 tells us that God answered Job out of the whirlwind as though He has been reclining there, and in Mark 4:39, amidst a terrible storm, Jesus Christ arose, rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still!” in obedience to His command, the wind immediately ceased, and there was a great calm. In the Name that is above all other names, I command every raging storm in your life to cease now.

Since little or nothing can be done to neutralize a raging storm by way of prevention or defense, the Holy Spirit teaches that the wise thing to do is to prepare for it. Preparing for the storms of life ranks so high in importance that today’s Bible reading classifies all of mankind according to their preparedness. The well prepared ones are tagged wise, while the unprepared are called foolish. Note that both the wise and foolish will be subjected to the adversity of the storm, and no one will be exempted. You therefore need to be adequately prepared for storms by holding on to Jesus, who is a shelter in the midst of the storm! God will deliver you from every storm of life in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 5 February 2019 Tuesday Prayer Point:

Father, please grant me the wisdom to adequately prepare for the storms of life. You know all things before they happen, please guide my feet to the place of all-round security in You in Jesus’ Name.
