Joyce Meyer Devotional 25 January 2019 — You Have Spiritual “Power of Attorney”

Topic: You Have Spiritual “Power of Attorney” [Joyce Meyer Devotional 25 January 2019]

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?…And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? — Matthew 6:25, 27

Oh, how wonderful it would have been to have physically walked with Jesus. But He told His followers they would be better off when He went away, because then He would send His Spirit to dwell in every believer.

He told them that even though they were sorrowful at the news of His departure, they would rejoice again just as a woman has sorrow during her labor but rejoices when the child is born.

Jesus knew they would change their minds when they saw the glory of His Spirit in them and the power available to each of them through the privilege of using His name in prayer. He was literally giving to them—and has given to all those who believe in Him—His “power of attorney,” the legal right to use His name. His name takes His place; His name represents Him.

Jesus has already been perfect for us. He has already pleased the Father for us; therefore, there is no pressure on us to feel that we must have a perfect record of right behavior before we can pray.

When we come before the Father in Jesus’ name, we can confess our sin, receive His forgiveness, and boldly make our requests known to Him.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You that I can come to You in Jesus’ Name! Right now, because of the authority given to me through Jesus, I lift up my needs to You and boldly ask for Your strength, guidance, wisdom and healing today—for me and my entire family. I ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

MFM Daily Devotional 25 January 2019 – Not God’s Idea (II)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 25 January 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Not God’s Idea (II)

TOPIC: Not God’s Idea (II) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 25 January 2019)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:22-28

Bible In One Year: Exodus 12-13; Matthew 16

MEMORY VERSE: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” – Isaiah 1:19

The MESSAGE:

Marriage is a covenant involving God, a man and a woman. It is also a life-long affair. A covenant is a binding agreement between two people and it leads to honour and dignity for the parties involved. Hebrews 13:4 affirms that marriage is honourable. This is true if you do it and run it in God’s way.

In the marriage convenient, the man and woman involved have individual responsibilities that God has given them. When a marriage is working and successful, it is because the man and woman involved are obeying God’s instructions for marriage. Where the marriage is not working, it is because the covenant is being violated either by the man or the woman or both of them. God is never at fault.

Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good is the lands.” To enjoy the blessings of marriage, dear brother, you must know and fulfill your God-given responsibilities in marriage. Similarly, to enjoy the blessings of marriage, dear sister, you must know and abide with your responsibilities.

Learn how to become the husband God desires you to be. Fulfil your responsibility as a husband. Someone said that responsibility is the price of greatness and a life without responsibilities is a liability. Ephesians 5:25 is God’s standard that summarises a husband’s responsibility to his wife in the marital covenant relationship: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” The same Ephesians 5 but verse 22 reveals the wife’s responsibilities to her husband in marriage, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Dear brother, do you love your wife as Christ loves the church?

A marriage where the husband or wife shirks their responsibilities is not God’s idea. Dear sister, are you submissive and obedient to your husband as unto the Lord? If you have not been obeying God’s covenant of marriage in your marital life, ask God for the grace to obey and turn a new leaf today. God rewards the obedient. Your marriage will begin to experience a turnaround, in Jesus’ mighty name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
LOVE IS A GAME THAT TWO CAN PLAY AND BOTH CAN WIN.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The enemies of your marriage shall be disgraced.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. I retrieve my marriage from every evil attack, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I receive power to scatter the agenda of the enemy, in the name of Jesus.
  3. O God, arise and answer Your name in my marriage, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. I plead the blood of Jesus over my life and my marriage, in the name of Jesus.
  5. I command every evil thing planted in my marriage to be uprooted, in the name of Jesus.
  6. I redeem my marriage by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
  7. O heavens, arise, kill the enemies of my marriage, in the name of Jesus.

Our Daily Bread 25 January 2019 Devotional – Free from Frostbite

Topic: Free from Frostbite [Our Daily Bread 25 January 2019 Devotional]

Bible in a Year: Exodus 14–15; Matthew 17

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. – Psalm 119:35

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Psalm 119:33-48

On a winter day, my children begged to go sledding. The temperature hovered near zero degrees Fahrenheit. Snowflakes raced by our windows. I thought it over and said yes, but asked them to bundle up, stay together, and come inside after fifteen minutes.

Out of love, I created those rules so my children could play freely without suffering frostbite. I think the author of Psalm 119 recognized the same good intent in God as he penned two consecutive verses that might seem contradictory: “I will always obey your law” and “I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts” (vv. 44–45). How is it that the psalmist associated freedom with a spiritually law-abiding life?

Following God’s wise instruction allows us to escape the consequences that come from choices we later wish we could undo. Without the weight of guilt or pain we are freer to enjoy our lives. God doesn’t want to control us with dos and don’ts; rather, His guidelines show that He loves us.

While my kids were sledding, I watched them blast down the hill. I smiled at the sound of their laughter and the sight of their pink cheeks. They were free within the boundaries I’d given them. This compelling paradox is present in our relationship with God—it leads us to say with the psalmist, “Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight” (v. 35).

Today’s Reflection
Dear God, give me a love for Your ways like the psalmist had. I want to worship You with the choices I make every day.

TREM Devotional 25 January 2019 – Don’t Fall into the Trap of Tradition

Topic: Don’t Fall into the Trap of Tradition [TREM Devotional 25 January 2019]

“And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand and called that place Ramathlehi” Judges 15:17, KJV

When Samson had finished using the uncommon weapon that God showed him, without any argument or equivocation, he threw it away. He did not keep it. Child of God the fact that something worked in 1960 does not mean that it will work in 1970. It doesn’t mean it will work in 1980, 1990 or in 2000. Check it out whether there are things that worked before that you are still trying to use. Always ask the Holy Spirit for fresh ideas so that you can stay at the cutting edge and remain relevant.

Do you know that I have been trying to see where I can buy an audio cassette Walkman because there are a lot of audio cassettes I bought back then that I felt like listening to now? But it is difficult to get, not even abroad! I sent messages to my sons in the UK. They got me one that is not so wonderful because the shops are no longer selling them. What they now sell are CDs, DVDs, and iPods. You can no longer find a cassette walkman. It worked then but it’s outdated now.

Beloved, there are ideas that worked and advanced what you were doing some time ago. You see, the fact that it worked then does not necessarily mean it will also work now. Don’t lay hold on something and not let go simply because it worked then. When you begin to lay hold on something because it worked, you may end up falling into the trap of tradition. And the Bible says that tradition makes the Word of God of no effect. People don’t like to change certain things or find out how best it can be done. There is always a better way of doing things. Search it out!

Samson threw away the jaw bone and he told God he was thirsty. God made a hole in the same jaw and put water there, and his thirst was quenched.

Kenneth Copeland Devotional 25 January 2019 – You Hold the Keys

Topic You Hold the Keys [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 25 January 2019]

I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them…. they are fallen under my feet. – Psalm 18:37-38

If you’ve been standing around wringing your hands and worrying about what the devil is doing, it’s time you made a switch. It’s time you put that devil under your feet!

Jesus has already given you all the power and authority you need to do it. He’s given you the keys of the kingdom. He’s promised you that whatever you declare locked on earth is locked in heaven and whatever you declare unlocked on earth is unlocked in the heavenlies (Matthew 16:19). That means you can speak the Word and bind wicked spirits. You can speak the Word and loose the angelic forces of God to work in your behalf.

What’s more, you’ve been given the power of attorney that enables you to use the mighty Name of Jesus. A Name that’s above every other name. A Name which will cause every knee to bow—in heaven, in earth, and under the earth (Philippians 2:9-10)!

So, don’t waste time worrying about the devil. Take authority over him. Bind the evil spirits that try to destroy your home, your church and your nation. Loose God’s Word in the earth and enforce it with the Name of Jesus.

You hold the keys. Learn to use them and before long the devil will be wringing his hands worrying about you!

Billy Graham Devotional 25 January 2019 – Don’t Lose Sight

Topic: Don’t Lose Sight [Billy Graham Devotional 25 January 2019]

. . . when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem . . . — Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine holiness, and not intramural bickering and carnal disputes. We read in the second chapter of Luke that Joseph and Mary lost Jesus one day. Where did they lose Him? They lost Him in the most unlikely place in all the world-the Temple. I have seen many people lose Jesus right in the church. I have seen them lose Him in a dispute about who was to be choir director, who was to play the organ, who was to be an elder, or who was to be the minister. Yes, because we are human, though Christian, it is easy to lose sight of Jesus right in the temple!

Prayer for the day: Don’t let me lose sight of You, Lord, in the complex logistics of everyday life.

Andrew Wommack Devotional 25 January 2019 – Knowing Who We Are

Topic: Knowing Who We Are [Andrew Wommack Devotional 25 January 2019]

Matthew 4:3, “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”

Text: MT. 4:1-11; MK. 1:12-13; LK. 4:1-13

Two of Satan’s three temptations began with the words, “If you be the Son of God.”

Jesus was God, but he did have a human body that had to grow in the knowledge and wisdom of God (Jn. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:16; Lk. 2:52). It took faith for the physical mind of Jesus to believe the witness of the Spirit within Him that he was the Messiah. Satan was attacking the most basic of His beliefs. This must have been a temptation to Jesus or Satan would not have used it.

Satan is very subtle in his temptations. It may have looked like he was trying to get Jesus to perform a miracle, but he was actually trying to make Jesus waiver in His faith of who He was. He tried to get Jesus to draw on the supernatural power of God to confirm it to the devil and Himself.

Unlike Jesus, we sometimes fall for this trick of the devil. We may say that we are arguing for some truth of the gospel, but many times we are hoping to convince ourselves. Someone who really knows who they are and what they believe, doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone.

Isaiah 30:15 says, “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…” Let the Lord build your confidence in who you are in Christ.

Open Heaven 25 January 2019 Friday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Not For Sale!

Topic: Not For Sale! (Open Heaven 25 January 2019)

Memorise: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”- Matthew 10:8

Read: Daniel 5:10-17 (KJV)

10 Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

12 Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

14 I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

15 And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

16 And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Bible in One Year: Luke 2-3, Isaiah 24:1-20

Open Heaven 25 January 2019 Friday MESSAGE:

In His omniscience, our God has chosen not to endow His spiritual gifts on many of His children and ministers, even though they earnestly desire and seek these with fasting, prayer and long periods of waiting upon Him. His refusal is because He knows they will make merchandise of His gifts, and He does not want them to face the damnation that will follow. The Holy Spirit warns us concerning this in 2 Peter 2:3:

“And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ in today’s memory verse laid bare His principles for operating in spiritual gifts, saying, “Freely ye have received, freely give.” Contrary to this principle, some ministers of God are merchandising the gospel in order to meet their personal needs. Beloved, if you belong to this category of people, I advise that you repent, because it is better not to preach than to preach for money. Whoever is in contention with this truth should read the story of Gehazi over and over again in 2 Kings 5:16-27.

Daniel was an upright prophet of God who chose not to make gain from his prophetic office. Even though he was offered great riches and political appointment if he could read the writing on the wall and tell its interpretation, he declined these gifts. In Daniel 5:17, he said:

“…Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.”

In other words, Daniel was saying “My prophetic gift is not for sale.” Faced with a similar circumstance, Peter said to Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8:20:

“…Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”

This is the character that our Lord wants to see in those who minister before Him and among His people. The mentality of merchandising the gift of God must be discouraged in the Church of God today. May God help His ministers to keep to the ethics of their calling in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 25 January 2019 Friday Prayer Point:

Father, please deliver the ministers of Your gospel all over the world from greed that may cause them to merchandise Your spiritual gifts.

Israel Launches Iron Dome Missile System to Tel Aviv

Israel Launches Iron Dome Missile System to Tel Aviv

Israel launched the Iron Dome missile system to Tel Aviv on Thursday as conflict rose between Syria and Hamas in Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at an army base in southern Israel Wednesday, saying he was “confident of our ability to defeat the enemy.

“Iran has declared its intention to destroy us with nuclear weapons, weapons we must interdict. But they are also building up forces in our region, a forward base in Lebanon, with the help of Hezbollah, and a southern front, supported by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Now they want to set up another front, on the Golan, right on our border. We must fight all these things,” Netanyahu added.

Most recently, fighting broke out Wednesday when “unknown assailants” opened fire on Israeli soldiers along the Syrian border. No injuries or deaths were reported.

IDF says it is “determined to defend the citizens of the State of Israel.”

However, Tuesday, Syria’s envoy to the United Nations said Damascus could attack Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv if the United Nations did not stop Israeli attacks.

Earlier this week, there were two other border fights with Hamas where one IDF soldier was injured. Israel retaliated by destroying terror targets in the Gaza Strip.

Also this week, the IDF released a video of its Iron Dome defense system intercepting a rocket over a ski resort in the Israeli-occupies area of the…
