A Belfast-bound British Midland Boeing 737 crashed on an embankment of the M1 at Kegworth after suffering engine trouble on the night of January 8 1989.
As well as the 47 deaths, the crash resulted in 74 serious injuries, with Kegworth villagers joining emergency services to help tend the wounded.
The parish council will host a service at St Andrew’s Church at 11am.
Survivors, the families of those who died as well as emergency service personnel who tended to the casualties have been invited.
The plane developed a problem with one of the engines as it was en route from Heathrow to Belfast with 126 people on board.

Tyneside Vineyard Church was informed by the City Council its proposals to move onto a derelict Greggs headquarters in South Gosforth lacked adequate safety measures for pedestrians.
Senior pastor David Bass told local newspaper the Evening Chronicle: “We were disappointed to receive the refusal notice, without any further communication, only days before Christmas.
“We had all been praying and hoping that the council would work with ourselves and Adderstone Group [local developers] to create a fantastic space that would be an asset to the local community, but it was not to be.”
A growing congregation without a permanent home of its own, Tyneside Vineyard has been holding services in a civic theatre and a community centre.
Church leaders said the facility on Christon Road would have been “perfect” for their congregation and they hope to appeal the decision.
But Newcastle City Council said it was “concerned” about allowing members of the public onto a working industrial estate “without adequate pedestrian safety measures such as footpaths and crossing points”.
A spokesperson added: “We therefore did not feel that we could support the application as submitted and it was refused.”
According to Adderstone Group, Tyneside Vineyard would have unfairly needed to pay more than £59,000 on safety improvements for pedestrians.

The Word says that Jesus had a habit of going up the mountain to spend time with God. Luke 22:39 says, And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed Him (AMPC).
Jesus formed a habit of communicating with God every morning.
It has been said that if you do something consistently for 30 days, it will become a habit. You can either make or break a habit by consistently doing the same thing. Follow Jesus, and form a habit of starting your day with prayer.
Prayer Starter: Father, I want to make a habit of spending time with You. You are my Source of help and strength, and I can’t have any real success in life without You. Help me to today to begin spending regular time with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When you choose to confess and meditate on the thought, I trust God completely; there is no need to worry, you will eventually form a new mindset that will enable you to put your trust in God with ease.
You will habitually look for what is good and magnify it, thanking God for each victory along the way. Life is very enjoyable when we decide to pray about everything and worry about nothing.
Don’t be discouraged if forming mindsets seems difficult in the beginning. You may have to say that you will trust God and not worry 1,000 times before you start to feel the effects of doing it.
Just remember that each time you think and say the thing that agrees with God, you are making progress. Satan will relentlessly try to get you to give up, but if you will relentlessly decide to trust God, I guarantee that you will see the result in due time.

And being not weak in faith, [Abraham] considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. – Romans 4:19-20
In the years I’ve spent living by faith, there’s something I’ve learned to do that helps me receive from God in the toughest of situations. It’s something I call stepping over the faith line.
A faith line is what you need when you want God to do the “impossible” in your life. It’s what you need when you want to be firm in your faith and yet you keep wavering back and forth between your circumstances and God’s promises—believing first one, then the other.
It’s what can make you like faithful Abraham. You know, Abraham had natural facts to deal with just like we do. He knew there was no natural way for God’s promise to him to come true.
Yet the Word says Abraham considered not his own body. In other words, Abraham ignored the natural evidence around him and believed only God’s promise.
Somewhere he stepped across the line of faith.
He made an irreversible decision to go with the Word of God. He made a final commitment. He chose to step past the point of no return. And if you and I are ever going to see God do the impossible in our lives, we’re going to have to do the same thing!
How do you draw that faith line?
Begin with the Word. Search the promises of God and purposely believe what He has said, and is saying, about your need. Meditate on those promises until faith rises in your heart.
Then draw the line of faith. Draw it in your mind and heart. Draw it across the floor in your prayer room. Say, “In the presence of God, in the presence of all the angels in this room, and in the devils face, I am stepping across the line of faith. From this moment on, I consider this matter done. From this day forward, I give God the praise and the glory in the Name of Jesus.”
From that moment on, speak only as if your miracle has already happened. Turn your back on the problems, on the doubts, and turn your face toward Jesus.
God will do the impossible in your life. Dare to step across the faith line!

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22 KJV
If all you do is to listen to the Word of God and you do not practise it, the Bible says you are simply deceiving yourself.
The worst type of deception is self-deception. When you get to a point where you can no longer tell yourself the truth, then you have lost it. Even if no one knows you, you know yourself. The whole world may be hailing you and calling you a prayer warrior, you know how much you pray. You may have been in the Church since the days of Methuselah but that does not change a thing. The Word that will benefit you is the Word you act upon.
Apostle James was so explicit in our text for today; verse 23 says anyone who is not a doer of the word is like the person that looks into the mirror, sees something out of place on his face, refuses to remove it or clean it out, turns away and continues as if nothing is amiss. He may choose to ignore it, but the truth remains that the thing is there. The question you would want to ask yourself is: why go to the mirror if you will not correct what is out of place?
That is the exact question you need to ask yourself if the Word is not changing you. You can never become immured to the Word of God. Don’t rush through your devotion, no matter how common the scripture for the day is; slow down and read it with meaning and as you read, the Lord will keep speaking into your heart and the more you yield to His voice, the clearer the Word becomes to you, and the more like Jesus you become.

TOPIC: How to Become Great in the Kingdom of God (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 8 January 2019)

The MESSAGE:
We established yesterday that the motives and criteria for becoming great in the kingdom of God are not the same as the motive and criteria used by unbelievers in the world. Jesus Christ advised His followers (and that includes us) to jettison the attitude of the world as well as its criteria for seeking greatness. How does one become great in the kingdom of God? The Bible has not left us in the dark concerning this.
The first key to becoming great in the kingdom of God is to embrace humility. Someone said that humility is the solid foundation of all virtues. I agree with him. Proverbs 3:34 says, “The Lord opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” What this simply means is that humility attracts favour and blessings while pride repels them. Charles Spurgeon, defined humility as “making a right estimate of oneself.” It is not denying the power or gifting you have, but admitting that the gifting is from God and the power comes through you and not from you. It was humility that made John the Baptist say, “I indeed baptise you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: whose fan is in His hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.” You can only serve others if you are genuinely humble, and serving others is the key or ladder to greatness in God’s kingdom.
Where you are on the servanthood scale is determined by whether you are humble or proud. Humility will make you use your God-given gifts to serve the church and others without eye service or seeking self-glory. Humility will immune you from the ungodly attitude of engaging in strife for positions and undue recognition in the church. Humility will help to focus your attention and efforts on the essentials: rendering faithful service to God and working on where you will sit at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb (Revelation 19:6-11).

Text: Exodus 5:1-14 (KJV)
Key Verse: “And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves… ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God” (Exodus 5:6-8).
MESSAGE:
Life experiences have shown that most often, things seem to get worse just before they get better. As such, one is encouraged not to give up hope when it appears that one is experiencing the worst downturn in life.
The children of Israel had been in captivity of the Egyptians for over 400 years now. Their situation was seemingly getting worse with each passing year. Now, it was time for God to fulfil the promise He had given to their great grandfather, Abraham. Having called Moses, God sent him with Aaron to Pharaoh to release the children of Israel to go and worship Him. Instead of listening to their request, Pharaoh was rather enraged and decided to inflict more hardship on the people. They had with joy welcomed Moses and the message of deliverance that he brought. But now, instead of the promised deliverance, they were experiencing the contrary.
As Christians, there may be times we receive a promise of breakthrough, deliverance, healing or answer to one prayer request or the other. We may have even been prayed for by an anointed man of God and have received a clear prophecy of breakthrough. But instead of experiencing the victory immediately, matters may seem to be getting worse. At such a time, there is a tendency to want to feel dejected and give up in despair. But you don’t have to! If the Lord has given you the promise of breakthrough or deliverance, he will surely fulfil it.
Keep believing, confessing and expecting your triumph. Pharaoh turned down the request of Moses to let the Israelites go many times but Moses never gave up. He kept confronting him over and over again until he had no choice but to let the Israelites go. Keep your eyes on the promise and your faith on God, and no matter how tough or stubborn your situation may seem, deliverance will surely come!
Thought For The Day: When your situation is toughest then your breakthrough is nearest!

Woman in Vegetative State Gives Birth in Long-Term Care Facility
An Arizona woman in a vegetative state gave birth last month in a long-term care facility, and police are investigating the incident.
According to NBC News, a Phoenix woman, who is unable to move or speak, gave birth to a baby boy on December 29, at the Hacienda HealthCare facility.
According to Global News, the staff at the facility were unaware that the woman, who had been housed there for about 10 years, was pregnant. Employees only realized that the woman was pregnant when she began to make moaning sounds while she was delivering the baby.
Global News reports that the baby is safe and healthy, but the question of how this happened still remains.
In a statement, the facility said, “we have recently become aware of a deeply disturbing incident involving the health and safety of a Hacienda resident.”
“As an organization, Hacienda HealthCare stands fully committed to getting to the truth of what, for us, represents an unprecedented matter,” the statement continued.
The facility, which has room for over 50 patients, is currently under investigation by police and the Arizona Department of Health Services. According to NBC News, the Arizona DHS has conducted a welfare probe, but at this time, no new information about the rape and birth have been released.
