MFM Daily Devotional 5 January 2019 – Believe God and His Prophet

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 5 January 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Believe God and His Prophet

TOPIC: Believe God and His Prophet (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 5 January 2019)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 18:19-27

MEMORY VERSE: “And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. – 2 Chronicles 20:20

The MESSAGE:

Micaiah told Ahab (the king of Israel) not to go into war for he would die. The other prophets assured Ahab of victory and safe return. Ahab did not believe in God’s prophecy and he died (2 Chronicles 18:1-34).

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat believed God’s prophet and won a battle. According to the Scripture, a good sign that a prophet is from God is that whatever he prophesies will come to pass. Micaiah was hated and despised by King Ahab. His prophecies, to Ahab, were always unfavourable. Micaiah chose to remain unpopular with the king and popular with the Almighty God. He did not change or falsify his message to suit the listener. He chose to be the odd one out, but he knew that truth would prevail.

Naaman almost missed his miracle but for his servants who persuaded him to do as Elisha had told him. Naaman dipped himself in River Jordan seven times and leprosy was kicked out of his life. His skin became as that of a child.

Beloved, many of us have missed out on great miracles and our days of visitation just because we failed to believe God and His prophet. God’s word is infallible, true and sure. The Bible says that God watches over His word to fulfil it. To doubt the authenticity of God’s word is to doubt God’s omnipotence and unparalleled ability to do all things. That is why God judges and severely punishes unbelief and doubt. Similarly God’s prophets are His oracles, when you believe them you will prosper.

Some years ago, a male graduate attended the MFM headquarters Wednesday service. Though a graduate, he was jobless and poor. Life was really miserable for him. Everywhere he went, he kept experiencing disfavour and closed doors. He knew he had a spiritual problem but could not identify the cause or source. So, he ran to Jesus. As the service was going on that day, a word of knowledge from the Lord went out saying, “There is a man here. You jilted a lady you were courting when she did not do anything to offend you. Since then your life has been miserable. But right there where you are, the Lord is setting you free today”. The brother later testified that he felt a cold chill run through his entire being. That night, he also had a dream and saw the lady for the first time in several years. In one week, he got a visa as well as all the money he needed to travel abroad. His life and fortune changed in one week because he believed the prophet of God. Be wise.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
GOD DOESN’T CHANGE HIS WORD. IF HE HAS PROMISED YOU SOMETHING, BELIEVE THAT IT IS DONE BEFORE ITS EXISTENCE.

PROPHETIC WORD:
God will give you a divine surprise today.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Every unseen fire burning in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I uproot the tree of unbelief growing in my life with the fire of God, scatter, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Dream acquired yokes in my life, break, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. My life, disobey the voice of enchanters, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Let multiple chaos pursue my pursuers, in the name of Jesus.

Christian ‘beaten and threatened by Islamic extremists’ in Pakistan faces imminent deportation from UK

Asher Samson, 41, who lived in Birmingham, was first detained attending a weekly signing event with the Home Office in Solihull on 26th November.

After spending Christmas away from his family he was released only to be held again on Friday and told he would be deported.

He spoke to Premier while he waited to be transported to a detention centre.

“They didn’t give me any notice last time and same again today,” he explained.

“The paperwork they’ve given me for the submission on 24th December – the date [now] says 4th January 2019. They just handed it to me when I came for the signing.”

Mr Samson first arrived in the UK in 2004 to continue theology training in order to become a pastor.

He said he decided to apply for asylum after receiving threats from Islamic extremists during visits home.

Mr Samson said he feared he would be in danger if deported.

“At the airport, they’re going to arrest me because of my profile here – it’s everywhere in the media and they know it,” he said.

“The next thing is where am I going to go? I’ve got no one there.

“At the moment my family and [I] are really struggling and I just spoke to my mum and she was crying and crying.”

He called on people to “pray that God opens the way and does what is right”.

More than 1,000 people have signed a change.org petition calling for the Home Secretary to grant Mr Samson asylum in the UK.

Ten New Year’s Resolutions for Every Pastor — Sam Rainer

It’s that time of year when people partake in the annual ritual of making well-intended promises. Most of them end up being broken by February. I also realize the presumptuous nature of this post—as if I could tell you what promises to make (and then inevitably break). However, I do believe every pastor should consider these ten resolutions. Perhaps they will get you thinking.

7 Reasons Staff Teams Sometimes Fall ApartChuck Lawless

I’ve seen it in local churches, and I’ve seen it on the mission field. When I ask church leaders what they most struggle with, it’s not uncommon to hear that interpersonal relationship battles are the biggest problem. In fact, I know folks who walked away from their calling because the relational issues took too big a toll. Here are some reasons that teams so often fall apart:

Congo’s electoral commission slams Catholic Church over remarks on poll

The church, a powerful voice in the heavily Catholic nation, has called on the electoral commission to publish the true results in “respect of truth and justice”.

The church, which deployed some 40,000 electoral observers in all polling centres, cannot say publicly who the clear winner appears to be, as Congo’s regulations forbid anyone but the electoral commission to announce results.

The commission accused the church of violating the regulations.

Observers have reported multiple irregularities as this vast, mineral-rich Central African country voted for a successor to departing President Joseph Kabila.

This could be Congo’s first peaceful, democratic transfer of power since independence from Belgium in 1960.

The ruling party loyalist whom Mr Kabila put forward as his preferred successor, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, already has said he expected to win, while polling before the election had top opposition candidate Martin Fayulu ahead.

The electoral commission’s statements on Friday were in a letter to the church and were confirmed by the commission’s president, Corneille Nangaa.

CC

In a separate statement, DR Congo’s ruling party called the church’s attitude “irresponsible and anarchist”.

International pressure is growing on Congo to restore internet service, blocked in an apparent attempt to calm election speculation,…

Woman jailed after stealing handbag from worshipper in church

Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard how Victoria McKay, 28, and a co-accused carried out the theft at Sandy Row Methodist Church in the capital on 7th October last year.

A woman attending the Sunday service left her handbag unattended beside her chair while she went to get lunch being served.

When she returned her bag, containing her purse, cash and cards had vanished.

Police found and arrested the suspect and her male accomplice a short time after the pair was seen leaving the church by a witness.

She handed the bag and its contents to the police.

District Judge Paul Copeland told McKay she deserved to be imprisoned.

“It was mean, it was planned, it was a breach of trust,” he said.

“You are a convicted thief, a persistent thief and a remorseless thief.

“You took advantage of a trusting and innocent member of the public who was at a church service, a respectable individual who the right and expectation to trust those around her.

“But you weren’t there for any good reason, you were there to steal what you could, and that’s exactly what you did.”

While McKay has been sentenced to six months jail time, Mr Copeland agreed to release her on bail pending an appeal against the sentence.

Christians called to honour marriage as 13 people apply online for divorce on Christmas Day

They were among 455 online divorce applications submitted to HM Courts & Tribunals Service between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

Graham Nicholls, director of Affinity – a network of evangelical churches said in a statement: “The idea that some relationships have come to an end this Christmas is a very sad reality for some.

“We all find living together as married couples challenging at times and sometimes this can be amplified during holiday periods, especially when we are in each other’s company for a longer time than normal.”

He said the Bible makes a case for fighting for marriages to work instead of opting for a divorce.

“We marry to be happy and when it stops making us happy we want to stop being married,” he said.

“This is the antithesis of the biblical model of sacrificial living for the other which ironically leads to true and deep mutual happiness.

“Another pressure on marriage is the expectation that divorce is always available as an option to resolve unhappiness in a marriage.

“In practice, a culture that supports marriage as a commitment for life does not imprison us but provides the security which gives great freedom to be open with our thoughts and feelings.”

On Christmas Eve, 26 people submitted divorce applications, there were 23 on Boxing Day and 77 on New Year’s Day.

“As Christians, I believe we need to uphold marriage as a lifelong covenant…

Church mourns 5 children killed on way to Disney World

The children were travelling in a large passenger van from Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, on Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Patrick Riordan.

A lorry and a passenger vehicle collided in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 and continued across the central reservation and into the path of another HGV and the church van, investigators said.

“Once those semis struck, they both caught fire,” Lt Riordan said during a news conference on Friday in Alachua, south of Gainesville.

He said a fifth vehicle came through and either struck people who had been thrown from the wreckage or debris. About 50 gallons of diesel spilled, worsening the fire that also damaged the road in spots.

At least eight people were taken hospital with injuries.

The Louisiana district office for the United Pentecostal Church said on Facebook that Karen Descant, wife of Pastor Descant, suffered multiple injuries. A pregnant woman was stabilised and another women suffered non-serious injuries. Four other children “all have injuries, but the medical staff feel that all of them will heal and recover.”

Kevin Cox, superintendent of the church district told CNN: “Please pray for the families who lost precious children, the other accident victims, all involved in the rescue efforts, and the church family. They will need our prayers in the coming weeks and months.”

The aftermath closed…

OPENING HYMNS

1. Praise, my soul, the King of heaven,
To His feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like Thee His praise shall sing
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Praise the everlasting King.

2. Praise Him for His grace and favour
To our fathers in distress;
Praise Him, still the same for ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless;
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Glorious in His faithfulness.

3. Fatherlike, He tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows;
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes;
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Widely as His mercy flows.

4. Angels help us to adore Him;
Ye behold Him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before Him;
Dwellers all in time and space;
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Praise with us the God of grace

1. Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow’rfull hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

2. Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through,
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield
Be Thou still my strength and shield

3. When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Bear me thro’ the swelling current,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee
I will ever give to Thee.

TREM Devotional 5 January 2019 – Embrace The Love Of Christ

Topic: Embrace The Love Of Christ [TREM Devotional 5 January 2019]

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 KJV

That is the summary of the love of God. He did not wait for you to clean yourself up, like the songwriter said, “Just as I am without one plea”. He took you in with all your mess. He knew it was totally impossible for you to clean yourself up, so He took the initiative. You did not beg Him, He chose to come. He knew that to redeem man, He has to come as a man, walk the earth and pay the price and He did it all. Why then are you still bent on paying for your sins?

Beloved, the very fact that you were born of a woman is all that made you a sinner and there is no way you can save yourself: so, quit trying. Accept the price that Jesus as paid and thank Him.

In actual fact, the refusal to accept the finished work of Calvary is the highest show of pride. That is because what your action is saying is that you can save yourself, which is totally impossible. No man can save Himself, that was why Jesus came. I challenge you today to stop struggling. Stop and embrace the love of Christ. Thank Him for loving you so much that He paid the price for you. Rejoice in what He has done and then go into all the world and share that love with the dying world.

There are so many out there who do not understand the fact that the price has been paid in full. They are running helter-skelter looking for a solution to sin. It is, therefore, your responsibility to show them the love of Christ. Be that channel through which the love of Christ will flow into your world.
