TBS is preparing to premiere a new show about God and it’s starring the man who played everyone’s favorite wizard, Daniel Radcliffe. 

According to CINEMA Magazin, TBS’ new show, Miracle Workers, depicts Heaven as if it was grimy and industrial and as if God was checked out. But the limited anthology series comedy is also said to have a positive message.

The show stars Radcliffe (Harry Potter) as a lower level angel named Craig, Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) as God and Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers) and Karan Soni (Deadpool) as angels. 

The show’s description on IMDb notes that the comedy, which is set in the “offices of Heaven Inc.,” tells the story of two angels who are put to task to try to convince God not to destroy the Earth. According to the description, the two angels bet God that “they can pull off their most impossible miracle yet: help two humans fall in love.”

According to The Christian Post, Owen Wilson was originally cast as God in the seven-episode limited series, but several weeks into production the Zoolander actor left the show due to creative differences.

Not even two months after Christian mother Asia Bibi was acquitted of charges of blashphemy, two more believers have received death sentences. Lehore natives Qaisar and Amoon Ayub were detained in 2015 as a result of one of the men was accused of publishing objectionable content against the Islamic faith on their website.

The brothers have been held in the Jhelum District Jail since their arrest, where they awaited trial.

On December 13, their case was heard within the walls of the prison due to security concerns. Vatican Newsreports that additional Session judge Javed Iqbal Bosal sound both of the men guilty and gave them death sentences.

Since the beginning of the ordeal, the Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS) has been representing Quisar and Amoon. 

“CLAAS has decided to challenge the decision before the Lahore High Court Bench at Rawalpindi as soon as possible,” the organization stated in a press release on the case. “CLAAS believes that in blasphemy cases the judges always remain under threat from religious fanatics and that is why the trial judges convict those accused of blasphemy.”

The campaign group made its opinion clear, noting that the Judge in the case “did not apply his judicious mind” and “convicted the accused in a very casual manner.”

HYDERABAD, India, December 19, 2018 (Morning Star News) – Police and news media further joined forces with Hindu extremists in recent attacks in southern India, including one where a mob terrorized children in Sunday school, sources said.

 

In Tamil Nadu state, Pastor Selva Raj was leading a worship service in Amathur village, Virudhunagar District, when a mob of some 300 Hindu extremists on Nov. 11 charged in and demanded that they vacate the building immediately, he said.

 

Members of the extremist Hindu Munnani destroyed a shed in front of the building and began threatening the children gathered for Sunday school in foul language, he said.

 

“They took away the Bible storybooks and some song and activity books from the children and tore them into pieces,” Pastor Raj told Morning Star News. “They scared the children away by telling them that they will be beaten up if they are seen in the church premises ever again.”

 

As he was trying to calm the children, police arrived and told him that a complaint had been filed against him, and that he should go with them to the police station, he said. Upon arrival, a huge mob of hard-line Hindus had already gathered, demanding that he promise in writing that he would leave the village and never return.

Two prominent pro-life groups are calling for the removal of National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins following comments he made in support of government-funded fetal tissue research. 

Collins said in a magazine last week “there is strong evidence that scientific benefits can come from fetal tissue research, which can be done with an ethical framework,” according to Politico. He also said he was hoping to “assure the skeptics” during an ongoing review process.

Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, said Tuesday Collins “must be replaced with someone who recognizes that children who are killed by abortion should be mourned, not experimented on.”

“Experimenting on the bodies of babies killed by abortion is never ethical, but only adds to

the victimization of these innocent children,” she said. “…Abortion is a barbaric and horrific human rights violation. It is unconscionable that taxpayers are forced to fund the gruesome baby body parts trade and that our tax dollars have been used to create demand for aborted children’s parts.”

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini agreed, saying “Collins’ actions are inconsistent with the pro-life policies of this administration. It is time for his departure.”

Other pro-life groups, though, stopped short of calling for his removal.

A new church, independent of the Russian Orthodox Church, is being created in the Ukraine.

According to CBN, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the church would not be under Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s control or under the control of the Russian Orthodox Church.

He said the creation of the new church was “spiritual independence, which can be likened to political independence.”

“This day will go into history as a sacred day… the day of the final independence from Russia,” he said.

“Ukraine will no longer drink Moscow poison from the Moscow cup,” he added.

Last week, some 200 priests, bishops and other church leaders elected Metropolitan Epiphanius as the head of the new church.

“Today is a truly historic event,” Metropolitan Epiphanius said, according to The New York Times, “We were able to overcome various temptations, disagreements and unite in one church.”

Meanwhile, the split may signal more tension between Russia and the Ukraine. The two countries are already facing some conflict.

“Ukrainian officials have been raising alarms about what they say is a huge buildup of Russian troops, tanks and artillery pieces along their border that could signal preparations for an invasion,” the New York Times reported.

A pastor at the California megachurch “Bethel” has written a long-winded and fervent Instagram post in which he deemed the American abortion epidemic the “greatest atrocity of our time.”

Kris Vallotton wrote: “Remember this “fetus” is not human, it’s not a person, and therefore it’s not protected by our constitution. It is simply a blob of cells easily removed from the mothers, oops I meant woman’s womb without any side effects,” before adding, “have you ever heard such bull-crap in your life?!”

The post was accompanied by a photo depicting a newly-formed fetus.

Vallotton held nothing back, asserting that people “will do anything to justify their selfish lifestyles,” and implying that the massive number of babies whose lives are ended out of simple convenience.

In the biting post, Pastor Kris accosted Planned Parenthood and anyone who backs its activities, stating that the organization is “still funded by your tax dollars and by the harvesting of organs from these non-humans.”

A Texas-based aviation ministry announced last week that they are working to become the first Christian airline in the world.

According to CBN News, the ministry called Judah 1 shared last week that the Federal Aviation Administration had accepted their application to become its own airline as opposed to a private operator. 

Currently, Judah 1 is providing their service to Christians traveling domestically and internationally for mission trips and religious tours, CBN News reports.

“We serve missions minded Christian people of all denominations traveling to the mission fields of the world.  Our planes have delivered hundreds of missionaries and transported thousands of pounds of cargo.
