Distraught Parents of Suicide Victim Claim Minister Condemned Son During Funeral


The parents of a Michigan teen who took his own life were left in shock after a Catholic priest used the teen’s funeral as an opportunity to condemn his actions. Maison Hullibarger committed suicide on December 4, and his family scheduled the funeral to take place on December 8 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Father Don LaCuesta, the family’s local priest, was set to preside over the service.


Shockingly, however, Father Don LaCuesta took the opportunity to slate Maison as a sinner for committing suicide and even asked whether the teen had “repented in the eyes of God.” On multiple occasions, the priest bluntly doubted that the enthusiastic football player had managed to reach heaven following his death. The family expressed their discomfort with his remarks, but the minister continued on his awful rant.


The parents of the University of Toledo freshman, Jeff and Linda, met with LaCuesta before the service to indicate what they wanted him to say at their son’s service. When he decided to instead preach a sermon emphasizing the sinfulness of suicide, Jeff was quick to react. The hurt father approached the priest in the middle of his condemning sermon, pleading “Father, please stop.” LaCuesta did not halt the sermon, but continued to fling words of conviction.

World’s first Christian airline to take off

Currently a private operator serving missionaries in Texas, Judah 1 says it has been granted permission by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to become a recognised air carrier.

In a message posted on its website, founder Everett Aaron said: “This means Judah 1 will have the freedom to transport as many different churches and mission organisations as we can.

 

“This is a huge honour and privilege and we give God all the glory! Thank you so much Judah 1 partners and friends for making this possible!”

Founded in 2013, Judah has already been using smaller aircraft to transport hundreds of missionaries from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to their mission fields.

Under ambitious new plans, a 140-seat MD-83 aircraft (pictured below) has been purchased with a view to operating flights from North Texas Regional Airport.

Explaining the need for a bigger plane, Mr Aaron told local news channel KTEN: “Not only will we be carrying the missionaries, but we’re also going to transport their cargo on the same flight.”

Judah 1 says its new status hinges upon receiving certifications from the Department of Transportation and the FAA.

Teachers Incorporating Buddhist-Type Meditation in Public Schools


Public schools across the U.S. are incorporating meditation practices in the classroom and placing children who don’t wish to participate in the hallway, according to a religious liberty legal group.


The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) says the practice is “similar to anciently established Buddhist and Hindu practices” and violates the U.S. Constitution.


The schools use a program called Inner Explorer. 


“By allowing inherently religious programs, like Inner Explorer, into the classroom, public schools are promoting a religion in violation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution,” ACLJ’s Christina Stierhoff wrote in a story on the organization’s website. “Parents need to be assured that they can trust public school systems to properly educate their children, not indoctrinate them.”


Inner Explore says on its website its mission is to “provide mindfulness in schools for PreK-12 classrooms, helping children develop self-awareness, self-control, resilience and compassion.” 


“Each series contains 90 audio-guided practices that can be used every day by simply logging in and pressing play,” the Inner Explorer website says. “Students and their teachers participate together in the brief (5-10 minute) daily practices. No prep, planning or curriculum changes required.”

Religious freedoms campaigners are concerned there could be a repeat of the suicide bomb attack at a church in the city of Quetta exactly one year ago. Nine people were killed.

 

Speaking to Premier from Pakistan, Mehwish Bhatti from the British Pakistani Christian Association (BCPA) said: “So many lost their lives just because they were attending a Christmas service.

“So many were injured and there were different casualties. It really makes a Christian feel very insecure in Pakistan.”

A memorial service for the victims was held by the Bishop of Karachi Rt Revd Sadiq Daniel at Bethel Memorial Methodist Church – under the watch of security services.

The BPCA says it has been helping scores of families affected by the attack to meet funeral costs and medical fees. The youngest victim, an 18-month old girl, lost a leg in the incident.

Local church leader, pastor Adil said: “Those who lost family members wept but also rejoiced that those lost are now in heaven.

“We sang our carols exuberantly as we remembered Christ who came that we might all now have access to the kingdom heaven.”

U.K. Students to Learn that Boys Have Periods, Too


Students in one United Kingdom city now will be taught that boys have periods, too, as part of new curriculum recommendations approved by the city council.


The report for students in Brighton & Hove recommends that “language and learning about periods is inclusive of all genders, cultures, faiths and sexual orientations.”


Teachers are to use language such as “girls and women and others who have periods,” according to the report.


The Brighton & Hove city council approved the recommendation, according to The Telegraph.


“By encouraging effective education on menstruation and puberty, we hope to reduce stigma and ensure no child or young person feels shame in asking for period products inside or outside of school if they need them,” the city council said in a statement. “We believe that it’s important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation together… Our approach recognises the fact that some people who have periods are trans or non-binary.”


Feminine products will be available in boys and girls restrooms.


But the report has plenty of critics. David Davies, a members of Parliament, told The Mail it was “insanity” to teach children that boys have periods.

Dr John Davies revealed he has lost his temper numerous times while putting up Christmas tree decorations at home.

He told Premier: “This year, I managed to slice a chunk of the top of one of my fingers doing it…”

 

Teasing ahead to his Christmas message, Dr John Davies also said he will be urging Christians to be “reflective” during a time of year dominated by “commercialism”.

The Anglican leader continued: “It’s very, very easy for the Church at this time of year to be critical of commercialism and so on and so forth.

“But that’s all part and parcel of the season nowadays – whether it’s the Christmas season for Christians or the secular season.

“I’m calling on people to pause and to reflect on what we’re called to be, as Christians; the ambassadors, the agents, the advocates for the kingdom [Jesus] represents.”

 

The married father-of-two said spending New Year’s Eve together with his adult children and NHS worker wife was what he is looking forward to most about the festive season this year.

Muslim Democrat Mocks Mike Pence’s Christian Faith


A Minnesota Muslim Democrat Congresswoman took to social media Tuesday to mock Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith. 


Congresswoman-elect, Ihlan Omar posted a photo of Pence to during Tuesday’s Oval Office meeting to Twitter. According to WND, Pence, who was in a meeting where President Trump, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer were arguing over the U.S.-Mexico border crisis, was photographed with his eyes closed.


Omar took this opportunity to post the photo of the Vice President to Twitter and captioned it, “Jesus take the wheel!” She also included in the caption “#BorderWall.”  


While Omar may have found the comment to be comical, many found the photo offensive. Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch wrote, “Just imagine the establishment media uproar that would ensue if Pence had mocked Omar’s faith. But in this case, leftist ‘journalists’ will just join in with Omar and mock Pence themselves.”


On Twitter, one user named NikT wrote, “Not a good look for your faith, your election as a representative of your entire district & especially as an American woman. Do better. Love not hate.”

Emma Jeffrey says she was dismissed from 1st Abbeydale Rainbows last week after breaking a rule that youngsters recite a secular pledge introduced five years ago.

The 45-year-old, who had been volunteering at the division for seven years, was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “I’m not trying to shove religion down people’s throats – just offering them a choice.

 

“The very name Rainbows is taken from the story of Noah’s Ark. It was a given to Noah as a gift from God.”

The Rainbows pledge was reworded in 2013 with the phrase “I promise that I will do my best – to love my God” changed to “- to develop my beliefs”.

Girlguiding told Premier it is open to girls of all faiths and none, and each of its 100,000 volunteers are expected to adhere to a code of conduct.

 

The spokesperson said: “We have one version of the Promise which is used by all members of Girlguiding.

“The wording of the Promise was chosen after a large consultation with our membership, who stated that they wanted to be united by one Promise rather than differing versions.

The Philippines’ Catriona Gray won last night’s Miss Universe pageant. Steve Harvey hosted the event again; competitors from ninety-four countries and territories participated.

Among them was Spain’s Angela Ponce. She earned the title of Miss Spain in June, defeating twenty-two other competitors.

She is also the first transgender woman to compete in the pageant.

I recognize that Jesus’ statement, “He who created them from the beginning made them male and female” (Matthew 19:4), is an unpopular position these days. Our culture celebrates the “courage” of those who “transition” from male to female or vice-versa.

For me to suggest that sex reassignment surgery (known today as “gender affirmation surgery”) may not be in a patient’s best interest is to risk being branded intolerant and prejudiced. This despite a review of more than one hundred international medical studies of post-operative transsexuals that “found no robust scientific evidence that gender reassignment surgery is clinically effective.”

The director of the study stated: “There is a huge uncertainty over whether changing someone’s sex is a good or a bad thing.” I could point to numerous other studies (such as this report) that suggest similar caution.

However, my purpose today is not to debate transgender issues. It is to note that engaging in such a debate demands a level of courage that was not necessary even a few years ago.

Our culture has moved rapidly to codify a host of unbiblical moral positions. For instance, sex outside of marriage is now so normalized that many universities are making emergency contraception available in vending machines on campuses.

To speak up for biblical truth on moral issues risks the wrath of the public. Jobs are being lost and teachers suspended for taking such stands.

Speaking exclusively to Premier, Sadiq Khan has been explaining his disappointment in some of the dialogue coming from Parliament in recent weeks.

 

“One of the things which inspires me about our churches is a simple word – kindness.

“The Church does kindness so well – treating each other with civility and respect and I wish us politicians learnt from that.

“The way we talk together, how we don’t even have the patience to hear someone else’s argument, giving people the benefit of doubt.”

Mr Khan was speaking to Premier from the London Carols event at Wembley Arena hosted by Hillsong Church.

Addressing the estimated 10,000 in attendance, he thanked the Christian community for the “huge contribution” they make to London.

He told Premier he’s often inspired by the Church within his own work.

He said: “One of the great things about the Church is when they’re helping a rough sleeper or someone involved in violent crimes, they don’t say, ‘Are you a Christian? Are you practicing? What are your views?’ – they want to help you.

“I think that’s inspirational and that’s one of the things I try to engender in my own life.”

London Carols is by some margin the biggest Church Christmas event in the UK.
