Text: Deuteronomy 32:15 (KJV)

Key Verse: “But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation“ (Deuteronomy 32:15).

MESSAGE:

Often, those who were once marvellously helped by God turn out to be rebellious ingrates. The case of Jeshurun in our text typifies this ugly nature of some humans. How and why do some individuals turn out to be ingrates to God and other benefactors? The answer is not hard to come by. “But Jeshurun waxed fat and kicked; … then he forsook God which made him and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation”.

Pride of success and accomplishment in secular endeavours often lead some people who initially depended on God for strength and succour to lose sight and fellowship with their Maker and Helper.

Are there repercussions for leading such life? Yes! The Lord warned His disciples on what would happen to such individuals, when He said, “Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep” (Luke 6:25). This scathing remark is what the Judge of the whole earth has for people who think they have made it in this life and as such have no need of God and His mercies upon their lives. We should not be foolhardy; God formed us.

Yes, He created us for His pleasure and fellowship and we should not allow the passing glories of this world to detach us from Him. The consequences of failure in this regard are grievous and regrettable in time and eternity. To escape being spiritual ingrates, we need to genuinely repent, reconcile with and reconnect to the God of heaven from whom all blessings flow. Thereafter, we must stay connected to Him until we see Him in glory.

Thought For The Day: Those who forsake the mercies of God today, should prepare to weep and mourn forever.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 25:23-27

MEMORY VERSE: “From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” – Galatians 6:17

The MESSAGE:

Divine identity is the mark that differentiates an individual from others. It is what you see in a person that may not be in the other person. It is divine when it is from God. It is the mark of God on you that makes you different from others. No wonder, the Memory Verse (Galatians 6:17) describes it as the mark of our Lord Jesus Christ. One important thing to note is that every one of us God created has a divine identity, and it has the power to give us all we need in life.

Abraham was singled out of his father’s house even though he was not the first-born. David was singled out even though he was the youngest and the one that was always looking after the family’s livestock. The special mark of divine identity on David, which no one could share with him, was defeating Goliath contrary to all expectations. There are no two people with the same identification. No two people could have qualified to be on the throne with David at the same time.

Your divine identity is your key to open your doors of opportunities. It is the hammer you need to break through, the symbol of your identity, the carrier of your star, your personality. With the mark, you become a terror to the enemies in your environment, it is your divine identity that gives you recognition where nobody seems to notice you; it is the mark that will make you rule over where you seem to be rejected.

Beloved, it is important to note here that divine identity cannot work for you if you are in a wrong place, and that it can remain unnoticed, unused and can be lost or stolen. Jacob and Esau were twin brothers. They came out from the same womb almost at the same time, but God Himself told Rebekah that two nations and two manner of people were in her womb before they were even born. It means that the two of them carried different identities and from the day Jacob stole from Esau, his life never remained the same until God in the form of an angel visited him. Divine identity can therefore, be manipulated and destroyed by the devil. Do not compare yourself to other people because each individual carries a specific identity.

1. If my divine identity has been neglected, stolen or destroyed, O Lord my Father, visit me by fire, in Jesus’ name.
2. Powers that are using my identity to survive, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. Any one representing me in my place of blessing and breakthrough, and causing hardship for me, die, in Jesus’ name.

EVENING
4. My divine identity, arise, come out from bondage and work for me by fire, in Jesus’ name.
5. Anything the Lord has deposited in me to take me to the top, which is passive now, receive the fire of the Holy Ghost and become active, in Jesus’ name.
6. O Lord, if my location is affecting my identity negatively, arise and take me to my place of honour, in Jesus’ name.
7. My Father, today, take my David to the palace, in the name of Jesus.

Scripture: This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. Jeremiah 17:5 (NLT).

Thought For The Day: There is nothing in the hand of a man of God outside of God.

Sometime ago, as I was ministering on a Sunday service and making declarations on the altar, a young girl confirmed that she was seeing exactly what I was declaring. The declaration I made was: there is an angel here with a curved vial of oil anointing people. She saw the angel with that curved vial of oil anointing the people.

Now, amongst other things she said, the most amazing thing was that while I was laying hands on the people I called to stand on a queue, she saw Jesus touch them before my hand came on them. However, she said that there were persons Jesus did not touch; He passed them and touched the next person on the queue.

At this point, I realized that the heart condition of people determines what touch they can receive from God. It is possible that the persons that Jesus bypassed were looking for a man to touch them so Jesus had to bypass them for the man to touch them. But Jesus touched the people who anticipated the touch of God before the hand of man could reach their heads.

Beloved, there is nothing in the hand of a man of God outside of God. The man of God is just flesh and blood from dust. So, to look up to a man or believe more in a man than in God makes frustration to continue.

Remember this: There is nothing in the hand of a man of God outside of God.

Assignments:
1. Whenever you are in Church, look up to God for a touch, not the pastor.
2. Ask God for mercy if you have ever depended on man for anything.
3. Make demands on the touch of God.

Topic: A Mother’s Love [Our Daily Bread 23 November 2018 Devotional]

He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91:15

When Sue’s parents divorced when she was young, the legal tussle over her custody and other matters resulted in her being sent to a children’s home for a while. Bullied by bigger kids, she felt lonely and abandoned. Her mother visited only once a month, and she hardly saw her father. It was only years later, however, that her mother told her that while the home’s rules prevented her from visiting more often, she had stood at the fence every single day, hoping to catch a glimpse of her daughter. “Sometimes,” she said, “I would just watch you playing in the garden, just to check if you were okay.”

When Sue shared this story, it gave me a glimpse of God’s love. Sometimes we may feel abandoned and alone in our struggles. How comforting it is to know that God is in fact watching over us all the time! (Psalm 33:18). Even though we can’t see Him, He is there. Like a loving parent, His eyes and His heart are constantly on us wherever we go. Yet, unlike Sue’s mom, He can act on our behalf at any time.

Psalm 91 describes God delivering, protecting, and lifting up His children. He is more than a refuge and a shelter. As we navigate the dark valleys of life, we can take comfort in the knowledge that the all-powerful Lord is watching over us and is active in our lives. “I will answer [you],” He declares. “I will be with [you] in trouble, I will deliver [you]” (v. 15).

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the assurance that we’re always under Your watchful care.

Our heavenly Father is ever near.

INSIGHT
Psalm 91 celebrates the safety and security of those who trust in God, who have made the Lord (the Most High) their refuge, fortress, and dwelling place (vv. 2, 9). The psalmist affirms that our God is powerful and faithful and therefore trustworthy (vv. 1–8). He also testifies of God’s protection and deliverance in a dangerous and destructive world (vv. 9–16). In the New Testament, Satan misquoted verses 11–12 to tempt Jesus to test God’s protection by jumping from the top of the temple (Matthew 4:6). In response, Jesus says that God’s promise is for those who love and obey Him (Psalm 91:14–15) and not for those who presume upon God’s grace (Matthew 4:7).

Open Heaven 23 November 2018 Friday MESSAGE:

In Deuteronomy 15:11, the Holy Spirit revealed that there would always be poor people in the land. The Lord also confirmed this in Matthew 26:11. Nevertheless, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-12, we also understand that the will of God is for His children to live in abundance and even lend to nations. So, while the poor will always be in the land, the wealthy will also be there always. The choice of remaining poor or becoming wealthy is therefore yours to make. To help you make your choice, remember Proverbs 22:7 says the borrower is servant to the lender, and that the rich will always rule over the poor. Do you want to be the ruler or the ruled? Do you want to be the lender or the borrower? Do you want to spend the rest of your life as a servant? The choice is all yours. The sad thing is that many Christians are even afraid to prosper. They believe that once they prosper, they won’t go to heaven. This is a lie from the pit of hell. If this is a notion you have lived with, you have to discard it immediately, or else the devil will continually use it as a weapon to hold you back from prospering. You may be the poorest man in the world, but if you are not born again and live holy, you will go to hell. You can also be the richest man in the world and still make heaven: provided you are born again, living holy and serving God. Moreover, it is God’s will for you to prosper, so don’t insult God by choosing to be poor. There is no humility in being poor. A poor man is a servant and I refuse to be a servant. Nothing in poverty will bring glory to God. God will not be glorified by your wearing rags. God is not glorified by you being a tenant till you die. If your Father has mansions in heaven, you should at least have a bungalow here on earth. He has all it takes to prosper you.

Now that you know God wants you to prosper, you may be wondering what you have to do to be prosperous. Very simple: be a friend of God. It’s as simple as that. If you know who will help you to succeed, wisdom demands that you draw near such a person. Secondly, you must fear God. Psalm 25:14 reveals that God’s secret are with those who fear Him. If you fear God, He will reveal the secrets of wealth to you. Also, you must meditate on the word of God day and night, so that you can be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. It is not enough to be willing to prosper; you must also be willing to obey God. There is one other point that is very important: many Christians want to prosper but they don’t want to work. God is not a fraudulent person; He will give you the idea and tell you what to do, but nothing will happen or change if you don’t actually do what He says. If you don’t want to work hard, then don’t ask God for financial breakthrough. There is a difference between magic and miracles. My Father is a miracle-worker, not a magician. Are you ready to prosper?

Topic: Obey Him in the Little Things [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 23 November 2018]

He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much. – Luke 16:10, The Amplified Bible

Have you ever wanted to take on some really big project in the kingdom of God, but the Lord just wouldn’t seem to let you? If so, there’s probably a good reason why.

You can see what I’m talking about if you’ll read about what God did with the children of Israel after He brought them out of Egypt. He wanted to take them on into the Promised Land. But before He could do it, God had to know if they would obey Him. He had to know if they would listen to His voice. Because if they didn’t, the enemies they were about to face would wipe them out.

So, do you know what He did? He tested them in a small matter.

Exodus 16:4 tells us about this simple test. “Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”

God took a little, insignificant matter—the food they ate—and used it to see if they would listen to Him or not. He told them how much of it to gather, when to gather and when not to, and what to do with it after they brought it in.

And the Israelites went right out and violated those instructions. They showed God by their actions that His voice was not important to them. They were not willing to obey even His simplest commands.

God works the same way today. Before He sends you on a major mission, He gives you the opportunity to prove you can be trusted with small instructions.

But many of us miss that opportunity. We pray, What do You want me to do, Lord? Where do You want me to go? I’ll do anything You say. But then when the Lord says, I want you to get up and pray in the Spirit one hour every morning, we fail to obey Him. We say, “Oh yeah, that would be good. I ought to do that.” But somehow we never quite get around to it.

Don’t make that mistake. Start today obeying God in the little things. Let Him see that He can trust you out there in a place of much authority. Let Him know you’ll be faithful to His words and to the voice of His Spirit. Once He knows you won’t let disobedience wipe you out, He’ll start sending bigger assignments your way.
