TREM Devotional 16 November 2018 – Learn To See Beyond The Immediate

Topic: Learn To See Beyond The Immediate [TREM Devotional 16 November 2018]

“And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. Genesis 50:24, 25 KJV

Joseph was not just a dreamer; he was a man that could see beyond the immediate. At a time when it didn’t look like it will ever happen, he told his brothers God is going to visit you in this land. That is the power of somebody who sees beyond the immediate. He said God is going to visit you in this land. Though all these things are coming against you, don’t bother about it, a visitation is coming. God is going to give you the land He promised your father. Therefore, when I die, don’t bury me in Egypt. Take my bones with you when God visits you because I know that God is surely going to visit you. It didn’t look like it but Joseph was fully persuaded of it.

In Exodus 13, when God’s people were finally leaving Egypt, they collected his bones and took them along for burial in Canaan land. The man saw himself in the Promised Land; therefore, he refused to be buried in Egypt.

Beloved, there is a promise that God has made to you. Do you see yourself there? The promise of good health that God has made to you, do you see yourself there? Are you going to go without? No! Develop the habit of always seeing beyond the immediate challenges around you. You are too loaded to fail. Believers fail when they refuse to see themselves beyond the immediate crisis and troubles they are experiencing. I declare that you will make it. When others are going backward you will go forward. A people you do not know shall serve you.

Open Heaven 16 November 2018 – Worship does it

Open Heaven 16 November 2018 Friday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Worship does it

Topic: Worship does it (Open Heaven 16 November 2018)

Memorise: “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.John 4:23

Read: Matthew 15:21-28 (KJV)

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 8-10, Luke 22:39-62

Open Heaven 16 November 2018 Friday MESSAGE:

Anyone who has a revelation of what worship does to true and genuine worshippers is blessed indeed. The story in today’s Bible text reveals the practical impact of worship. In that story, our Lord Jesus Christ was approached for help by a Syro-Phoenician woman whose daughter was grievously possessed by a demon. The Bible says He did not pay any attention to her, and so His disciples advised that He should just send her away. However, instead of sending her away, Jesus opened the door of opportunity to dialogue with her and bring her to the saving knowledge of the God of Israel. He said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” This was the hint this woman needed to turn the situation around. On hearing this, she did something which is the focus of our reflection today. Matthew 15:25 says:

“Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.”

This action by the Syro-Phoenician woman ensured that Jesus continued to hear her. In their ensuing dialogue, she demonstrated persistent faith which the Lord’s anointing could not resist. Jesus commended her faith which was borne out of spiritual humility, saying to her:

“O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” – Matthew 15:28b

There are many lessons to learn from this story, but central to these lessons is the art of worship. We should always remember that all men are the same before God, and the purpose of their existence is to worship their Maker. Whether mankind likes it or not, a day is coming when we shall all worship before God. Speaking concerning this, Psalm 86:9 says:

“All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.”

Our memory verse reveals that the Father seeks those who worship Him. Beloved, worship does what no other thing can do in the place of prayer. What can anyone do that would make God do what He wouldn’t have done otherwise? The answer is worship. David worshipped God and God established a dynasty for him. His son worshipped God through unprecedented sacrifice and got more than he bargained for (1 Kings 3:4-13). The Syro-Phoenician woman worshipped Jesus Christ and a dog outside the kingdom became a child of the kingdom. As a matter of fact, some dogs worship their owners and eventually eat from their master’s table! Beloved, I want to encourage you to always engage in genuine worship, and you will be amazed by the great breakthroughs you will begin to experience.

Open Heaven 16 November 2018 Friday Hymn 1: Now Thank We All Our God

1. Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices,
Who from our mother’s arms
Hath bless’d us on our way
With countless gifts of love
And still is ours today.

2. Oh may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in His grace,
And guide us when perplex’d
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next

3. All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Spirit blest,
Who reign in highest heaven,
The One eternal God,
Whom earth and heav’n adore,
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

Detroit May Rename Ben Carson High School Due to Trump Ties

Detroit May Rename Ben Carson High School Due to Trump Ties

The Detroit Board of Education opened a new high school in 2011 named for city native Ben Carson but now may take his name off the building due to his ties to the Trump administration.

When Dr. Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine was opened and then dedicated seven years ago – with Carson in attendance – he was the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

But Carson then ran for president and then became President Trump’s secretary of Department of Housing and Urban Development. That irked some school board members, according to The Washington Post. Carson graduated from Detroit’s Southwest High School in 1969.

“It is synonymous with having Trump’s name on our school in blackface,” school board member Lamar Lemmons told The Post.

Carson “is doing Trump’s bidding, and he has adversely affected the African American community in Detroit as well as the nation with his housing policies,” Lemmons said.

“And he’s allied himself with a president that says he is a white nationalist and sends dog whistles that even the deaf can hear,” Lemmons added.

There is widespread support, Lemmons said, for changing the name. He said he regularly gets letters from citizens about the issue.

“What really bothers me is he is a person that grew up in poverty and took advantage of all the social service…

Franklin Graham’s Son Encourages Christians to Step Up to Help Wildfire Victims

Franklin Graham’s Son Encourages Christians to Step Up to Help Wildfire Victims

Will Graham, the son of evangelist Franklin Graham, recently sat down with CBN News to encourage people to pray for the victims of the wildfires in California.

When asked why churches and Christian organizations are often among the first to respond Graham said, “I think as Christians, we should be the first ones to be responding because we represent the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and we should be the first ones responding to anybody in need.”

He continued, “Pray with them; help with physical needs as well, and there’s going to be a lot of physical needs going forward.”

The Evangelist noted that he is grateful for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s act of sending chaplains to California in this time of need.

Graham said, “One of the greatest things you can do, and that’s one thing I’m so excited about the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we send chaplains simply just to sit there and pray with people; cry with people; hold people.”

He continued, “People have lost everything – they’re devastated, and they don’t even know where the next step begins, and we just sit there, and we just start praying.”

The executive director of the Billy Graham Training Center added, “We’ll see some people come to know Christ, but I don’t think we’ve ever been there when someone said, ‘No, don’t pray for me.’ People in times like this,…

House Democrats Band Together, Threaten Hobby Lobby Supreme Court Ruling

House Democrats Band Together, Threaten Hobby Lobby Supreme Court Ruling

Following the midterm elections, which turned control of the House over to the Democrats, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act may be in jeopardy.

According to CBN News, 50 more Democrats have decided to band together to co-sponsor legislation that would destroy the 25-year-old Act. This increase in support brings the total number of Democratic Congressmen opposing the act to 172.

Signed into law in 1993 by President Bill Clinton, the RFRA works to protect employers’ religious liberty by rejecting the idea that employers are required to provide medical insurance coverage for abortion-inducing contraception.

According to The Washington Examiner, the bill Democratic congressmen are moving to support, H.R. 3222, would make it so LGBT rights and other progressive causes would trump religious freedom.

The outlet also states that if the H.R. 3222 is passed into law it would reverse Supreme Court’s rulings in the Hobby Lobby and Masterpiece Cakeshop cases.

“Pushing this are progressive groups which claim that religious beliefs are just a cover for discrimination, bigotry, and hate,” the Examiner writes.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who supports the bill, said during a meeting last month by the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution that she was more concerned with the appearing “school of thought that weaponizes religious liberty” then about…

Church of England’s social media presence buoyed by royal wedding

Videos and a prayer celebrating the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this summer were seen more than five million times on websites including Facebook and Twitter.

The occasion helped boost monthly reach from 1.2 million last year to 2.44 million this year.

Newly released figures also show the number of people attending C of E services on an average Sunday stood at 256,000 in 2017 – down from 279,000 in 2016.

But the number of people regularly attending church rose slightly last year to 1.14 million.

The Bishop of London, Rt Rev Sarah Mullally said: “While there’s a downward pattern in Sunday attendance, the fact that membership figures are stable shows that for many people, being part of the Church is more than just a matter of what they do on a Sunday morning.

“We are also reaching more people than ever through social media, providing a Christian presence to those who might not otherwise walk through the door of a church.

“And millions encounter the Church in their daily lives, through its commitment to the most vulnerable from food bank provision to night shelters, lunch clubs and community cafes.”

In contrast, attending Christmas services rose for a fourth successive year to 2.68 million – a 3.4 per cent increase on the previous year. It’s the highest figure…

Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer Michael Avenatti Is Arrested for Domestic Violence, Denies Allegations

Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer Michael Avenatti Is Arrested for Domestic Violence, Denies Allegations

Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Stormy Daniels and Julie Swetnick – one of the Kavanaugh accusers – has recently shut down accusations of domestic violence after being arrested near his Los Angeles apartment on Wednesday.

Avenatti told reporters, “I have never struck a woman, I never will strike a woman.” Shortly after his Wednesday arrest, he posted his $50,000 bail.

The lawyer claimed to have been a supporter of women’s rights throughout his career and has no doubt that he will be acquitted of any wrongdoing.

While police waited to make details of the incident public, Officer Tony Im, an LAPD spokesman, revealed that the victim has evident injuries.

Avenatti, who found fame representing Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who claims to have had an affair with Donald Trump in 2006, released a statement through his law firm calling the domestic violence allegation “completely bogus,” and one that was fabricated with the intention of damaging his career.

“I wish to thank … the LAPD for their professionalism,” Avenatti said a statement. “They were only doing their jobs in light of the completely bogus allegations against me.”

“I have never been physically abusive in my life nor was I last night. Any accusations to the contrary are fabricated and meant to do harm to my reputation. I look forward to being fully…

Government urged to do more to prevent violence against children

A report by World Vision UK found the government spends only 2.5 per cent (£35m) of its annual humanitarian budget to protect children in emergencies.

The Christian charity wants this to increase to at least ten per cent.

The recommendation follows the unveiling of a graffiti mural depicting a child soldier in London Waterloo’s iconic graffiti tunnel on Wednesday evening.

Launching the new campaign called ‘It Takes A World’, where Kingdom Choir member Sharlene Monique performed, the charity urged guests to add their signatures to a petition that aims to show the UK government that the public is concerned about child protection in some of the most dangerous countries.

Rhian Beynon, campaign manager at World Vision UK told Premier: “Millions of children are trapped in conflicts and other emergencies around the world. They need protecting from violence as much as they need shelter, food and other basic necessities.

“Yet the UK government – a leading aid donor – spends a relatively small amount of its aid budget to protect them. Some countries where children are at the most vulnerable receive no funds…

Widow of Missionary Killed in Cameroon Forgives Her Husband’s Killer

Widow of Missionary Killed in Cameroon Forgives Her Husband’s Killer

The widow of a missionary who was killed last month says she forgives the man who shot her husband.

Stephanie Wesco said she “has no bitterness in her soul against anyone.”

Stephanie was riding in a car with her husband Charles Truman Wesco when he was shot in the head during a firefight between separatists and soldiers in Cameroon.

Wesco had eight children.

“We’ve all lost a friend, haven’t we?” said Pastor Randy King at a service for Wesco. “Charles definitely loved the people of Cameroon. So do we, having lived there with those precious people for 30 years. We love the Cameroonians. All of them, including the person who killed Charles.

“We love them because Christ first loved us and came to save us from our sins,” he continued.

King said Stephanie and her family was praying for the man who shot Wesco.

“We do not know the name of that man. But I pray as a missionary to Cameroon that I or her brother Ben Sinclair might one day have the opportunity to meet Charles’ killer to express our forgiveness to him and in love, seek to lead him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior that he might also receive God’s forgiveness for what he did.”

In a message to family and friends, Stephanie said that her husband’s life goal was to help “others love Jesus and serve him.”

“My prayer is that somehow someway Jesus will be…

Will Graham Says Christians Should Be ‘First Ones’ Responding as Death Toll Rises

(PHOTO: BILLY GRAHAM EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION)California’s “Camp Fire” has destroyed nearly 9,000 homes and forced at least 52,000 people to evacuate.

Will Graham, grandson of the late evangelist Billy Graham, has urged Christians to help victims of the California wildfires, saying that believers “should be the first ones to be responding because we represent the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”

“I think as Christians, we should be the first ones to be responding because we represent the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and we should be the first ones responding to anybody in need,” Graham told CBN News.

“Pray with them; help with physical needs as well, and there’s going to be a lot of physical needs going forward,” he continued.

California is experiencing the deadliest wildfires in its history, as at least 59 people have died and some 130 people remain unaccounted for, including many in their 80s and 90s. The number of those missing, authorities say, is only expected to rise.

Just 35 percent contained as of Thursday morning, the “Camp Fire” alone has destroyed a staggering 8,650 homes and scorched 138,000 acres in Northern California. Overall, more than 10,000 structures have burned down, officials said. As a result of the fires, air quality alerts have been…
