Stealing lead from church roofs should be treated as a ‘hate crime’, says security expert

Nick Tolson, head of National Churchwatch, an independent organisation that provides advice on crime and security for places of worship, said when his church in Hampshire was attacked by arsonists in 2015 for a second time, just weeks after a Bible was left burning at the altar in a previous attack, it wasn’t treated as religiously motivated.

“If a crime happens in a mosque or a synagogue, it is assumed to be a hate crime unless proved otherwise, but if it happens in a church it is assumed to be a normal crime,” Tolson told The Times.

“Lead theft is a big one. People may think someone is only attacking the church because it has lead, but they know it is a church, that the church will have to pay for it and that the church is prevented from worshipping and can end up being locked up.”

His comments follow figures released by Church insurance company Ecclesiastical that found churches made more than 9,000 claims per year for metal theft in the four years to 2012.

All Saint’s Church in Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, are currently raising funds to cover a potential £400,000 bill  after the Grade-I listed building had approximately 20 tonnes of lead stolen over time.

It may only receive £15,000 from insurers for the replacement project.

The Crown Prosecution Service defines a hate crime as an action motivated by…

Justin Welby pays tribute to ‘prophet’ Charles on 70th birthday

The Most Rev Justin Welby said the heir to the throne had shown his “prophetic instincts” in his championing of the environment and his early warnings of the threat posed by plastic pollution.

The leader of the Anglican church was speaking as peers in the House of Lords hailed the Prince of Wales’ “outstanding service to the nation” and wished him “many happy returns” on turning 70.

Referring to accusations levelled at the prince of “meddling” in public affairs, the Archbishop said: “In the Church we politely say ‘being prophetic’.

“To some extent, his Royal Highness is a prophet.

“A prophet in the Old Testament is someone who sees slightly further into things than other people and, perhaps to some people’s discomfort at times, may bring them out and is then proved to be right.

“He has shown his prophetic instincts, not least in his welcome advocacy of the critical need to protect the environment and … his instincts around plastics pollution.

“Those efforts have been well ahead of most of us in this chamber.”

PA

The tributes in the upper chamber had been due to be led by Lords leader Baroness Evans of Bowes Park, but as a member of the Cabinet she was involved in the lengthy talks in Downing Street on the draft Brexit deal.

In her absence, deputy leader Earl Howe moved what is known as the humble address to mark the…

Cathedral launches gin to fund revamp

Blackburn Cathedral hopes bottles of Cathedra – on sale for £45 each – will eventually be sold at other cathedrals nationwide.

The Dean of Blackburn, Very Rev Peter Howell-Jones said: “This is not a novelty, this is a cathedral doing business.

“It’s about engaging with people, that’s our core business.

“Blackburn is not a tourism centre, it is not a rich part of the world, and we need to reach out to markets beyond our town and region to be sustainable long-term.”

Cathedra is one of several fundraising ventures aimed at helping Blackburn Cathedral raise £1 million to transform its crypt into a community, heritage and exhibition space.

Very Rev Howell-Jones added: “Gin is on trend, it is a developing market, and there is a long history of monastic communities brewing mead, wines and beers.

“I wanted to create a brand that would work across the country, that could create an income stream from which all English cathedrals can benefit.”

Blackburn Cathedral

If enough bottles are bought, there are hopes sales could also help fund education, music and social cohesion projects – currently benefiting 6,000 youngsters in 160 schools.

Joyce Meyer Devotional 15 November 2018 — Attitude Is Everything

Topic: Attitude Is Everything [Joyce Meyer Devotional 15 November 2018]

No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. — Joshua 1:5

Some of the challenges we face in life may be very difficult ones, but God never allows more temptation to come upon us than we can bear. In fact, with every temptation, He always provides a way out.

The scripture above not only says He provides a way out, but it also says He gives us the strength to bear up under trials with patience. That means we can go through them with a good attitude! Maintaining a good attitude in the midst of something unpleasant is the key to victory, and it enables us to enjoy the journey.

Prayer Starter: Lord, thank You for being with me through all of life’s difficulties. Help me today to keep a good attitude, knowing You are working on my behalf behind the scenes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Love: Foundation for a Healthy Family Relationship (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Love: Foundation for a Healthy Family Relationship (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic — Love: Foundation for a Healthy Family Relationship (Part 2)

Dear Reader,

You are most welcome to another interesting edition of these series of teachings. Last week, I started a teaching on the topic: Love: Foundation for a Healthy Family Relationship. I also defined some terms and I explained that the ultimate way to express your love, especially in marriage, is to practice love according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. This week, I shall be showing you how the man should demonstrate love to experience a healthy family relationship.

God is the foundation of the family. Genesis 2:18 says: And the LORD God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. He decides each person’s family and has a heritage of peace for every home. God wants to give His people peace always and by all means Now the Lord of peace himself gives you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all (2 Thessalonians 3: 16).

The man has diverse roles to play in the family, but for in this edition, I will examine just three of his major roles.

1. A HUSBAND
A man is first a husband to his wife, and the Bible says: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (Ephesians 5:25) It is the responsibility of the man to known that he has a ministry to his wife by meeting her needs intimately, emotionally and psychologically. The verses in Ephesians 5 teaches that the husband is to cherish his wife, treat her with tenderness and affection. As it is written: The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife (1 Corinthians 7:3) NIV

Love; however, is to be fed if it must grow. You feed your love for your spouse through a warm demonstrative love relationship. The husband has the responsibility to love his wife in words, actions and expressions. The word of God admonishes clearly in this regard:

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered (1 Peter 3:7).

2. A FATHER
The word father means source and sustainer that is the man must be the provider and protector of the home. No wonder the Bible says: But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel (1 Timothy 5:8).

The all mark of a father is Responsibility. Fatherhood is not just about reproduction of babies but responsibility. The father has the core duties to earning a living to support his family. The dimension of the father in the home is as a financial provider; having to cater for the family’s food, shelter, education, etc. However, he does not only provide financially, but provides comfort, mentorship, guardians and protection for his family.

3. THE SPIRITUAL HEAD
The man is the spiritual head of the home, who should build capacity in the spirit to take charge of the spiritual atmosphere in the home against wicked force. The man is also responsible for consistent family prayers altar, Bible studies, to teach the children about God and His ways. He should live a spiritual exemplary lifestyle so that every member of the family can follow in his stead.

Every godly man should see to the spiritual development of his family by the life he lives and the direction in which he leads. He is to enforce discipline and teach his children to have the fear of God. This discipline should however be in love. Many times, discipline is administered without love. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:4, And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Again Colossians 3:21 says: Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The man is the principal figure in the family unit. God reckons with his position as head of the home and holds him responsible for any mishap that occurs in it. That is why as a man, you need the grace of God to function in all three capacities that is required of you. This grace can only come from God, the giver of all good gifts, including a peaceful home.

True love can’t be expressed without knowing God intimately and you cannot function fully in your capacity as husband, father and spiritual head without a genuine relationship with God. Loving God first is the way to love, but you can’t claim to love God without accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savoir, and becoming his child. Jesus is the expression of God’s love to humanity. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

You can be His child by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you have not asked Jesus to come into your life or may have neglected your initial love for Him, then you should say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today, teach me to love even as you loved us. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

The Products of God’s Power by Pastor Paul Enenche

POWER COMMUNION SERVICE – 14TH NOVEMBER 2018
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): ACTS 10:38; PSALM 62:11
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE PRODUCTS OF GOD’S POWER
BY: DR. PAUL ENENCHE

SERVICE OBJECTIVE: Understanding what the power of God has to deliver

The power of God is a very crucial asset for the child of God; it is a non-negotiable necessity for the Christian journey
The power of God is not just for pastors or evangelists or teachers, it is for every child of God (Acts 1:8)
The power of God is one of the most precious and prized possession that anybody can possess; it is one of the most important equipment that a child of God must possess in his/her journey of life

WHAT THE POWER OF GOD IMPARTS THE CHILD OF GOD TO ACHIEVE:
1. The capacity to prevail over the forces of life; the capacity to overcome your fears (Gen. 32:28; 1Sam. 16:13, 17:49-50)
Your life can easily be buried cheaply where power is lacking
Before a person can make progress, forces must be overcome
To attain victory and remain victorious requires power
The difference between travailing and prevailing through life is power
It takes power to win the battles of life; the battles of your life will answer to power (Eph. 6:12)
In order not to end as a victim, you need power

2. The capacity to overcome resistance and take delivery of your possessions (Deut. 8:18; Josh. 17:16-18; Prov. 11:16; Josh. 19:47-48; Matt. 11:12; Eph. 1:3)
It takes power to take what is yours
It takes power to take territories and enlarge spiritual territories
Powerlessness makes the devil to cheat a person out of their inheritance and makes one live below their rights
Many things are not in your hands now, not because God has not released them, but because there are forces resisting them from entering into your hands and it takes power to force them to release what is yours
What is yours does not come to you because you deserve it, but because you demand it (Matt. 11:12)
What you are going to take in God is determined by the level of spiritual force you are ready to unleash
The world doesn’t belong to the timid.

Also Read: The Power of God By Pastor Paul Enenche

3. The capacity to fulfil your mandate and purpose in life (1 Sam. 10:1; Micah 3:8; Acts 10:38; 1 Sam. 16:13; Prov. 19:21; Ps. 27:10)
The capacity to become all that God wants you to become and reach where God wants you to reach requires power
You need power to be positioned in your life’s assignment
As a child of God you need to be wired rugged so that when the forces that stop others try to touch you, they shall encounter barbed wire!
You need power to become what witches and ancestral powers said you cannot become
Divine mandate always attract enemy battles; Divine assignment always attract enemy confrontation

4. The capacity to rescue souls and change lives for God (Acts 1:8; 10:38)
You need power to rescue generations and make a difference

5. The capacity to take territories and disciple domains for God (1Kings 17:1; Hab. 2:14; Exo. 4:17; Deut. 28:1-13`)
It takes power to dethrone the enemy over localities and to bring territories into subjection for God (Hab. 2:14)

SECRET OF POWER:
1. The life of prayer (Gen. 32:24-28; Luke 3:21, 9:29; 1Thess. 5:17; Eph. 6:18; Jam. 5:16-18)
To outgrow prayer is to outgrow power
Pray like you breathe
Your worship, praise and appreciation are part of your prayer
Pray when you feel like praying because God is trying to do something, and pray when you don’t feel like praying because the devil is trying to do something
To toil with prayerlessness is to embrace powerlessness

PRAYERS
Father, I make demands on a fresh baptism of prayer. I receive it now! Father, I receive a fresh baptism of fire and power to prevail over the forces of life, to overcome resistance and take my inheritance; power to fulfil Your mandate for my life, change lives, disciple domains and take over territories. I receive power for that NOW!

Father, by this Communion, I receive increase in spiritual fire power NOW, in Jesus’ Name

COMMUNION FOCUS (REVELATIONS 5:12):
Communion of power!

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
– Everything belonging to you that the devil has kept back is being released now!
– Receive increased spiritual fire power! Every demon of coldness, lukewarmness, powerlessness, and defeat is arrested in Jesus’ Name!
– Whatever my Father in Heaven has not planted in your life is uprooted right now!
– This communion tonight will break every family, ancestral, generational curse and everything preventing you from fulfilling God’s power for your life is broken!

Teens Open Heavens 15 November 2018 – Taking Grace For Granted?

Topic: Taking Grace For Granted? [Teens Open Heavens 15 November 2018]

Memorise: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? – Romans 6:2

Read: Romans 6:1-5 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 10-12, Hebrews 11:1-9

MESSAGE:

Just as certain as things are peculiar to champions, ex-champions also have things in common to them. When we look at the prayer of Samson, an ex-champion in Judges 16:28, the first he said was, “Remember me on Lord!” Why was he asking to be remembered? It is because people don’t easily remember ex-champions. It is the champion’s crown that is revered by many, not the one wearing the crown. When the crown goes, so goes everything the crown attracted. Samson also said “strengthen me”. Strength is an invisible force. Philippians 4:13 says you are enabled to do all things by the strength that Jesus supplies.

Another thing that Samson said was “strengthen me this once”. As a believer, you ought to learn a thing from this. He did not ask for restoration several times but just once. Have you been falling and rising? Do note that when Samson fell, he asked for restoration just once. God always receives backsliders, but not when you take His grace, mercy and love for granted. If you once fell and asked for forgiveness, remain in Christ. Stop taking His grace for granted.

Action Point: Do not take God’s grace for granted.

Hymn 7:

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

MFM Daily Devotional 15 November 2018 – Rejecting Partial Miracles

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 15 November 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Rejecting Partial Miracles

TOPIC: Rejecting Partial Miracles (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 15 November 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Mark 8:22-26

MEMORY VERSE: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” – Philippians 1:6

The MESSAGE:

To have anything in a partial form simply means to have it incomplete, and it also means to have it unfinished. To reject it is to say ‘No’, to refuse, to renounce and to discard. In the Fire Scripture, the blind man’s restored sight was not complete. If Jesus had not asked the man that simple question, the man could have been seeing men as trees, thinking that is the way normal people see. Or if the man was in a hurry to depart from Jesus, he would have left Him without receiving complete sight. The so-called miracles most of us are enjoying today may simply be termed partial miracles. To explain better, miracles do occur, but the problem is that majority of Christians are victims of partial miracles. When Jacob encountered the angel, the angel wanted to leave after the partial encounter, but Jacob refused, for he knew the encounter was not yet complete. He declared, “I will not let you go until you bless me…”

Miracles are partial when you receive the promise, the revelation, the dream but no physical manifestations; they are also partial when you begin to receive the signs that the miracles have started happening physically but get terminated before it is completed. Miracles are partial when you begin to tell people that God had started working: you got the signs but no perfection. Miracles are partial when you have manifestation during prayer sessions, demons jumped out, but physically no signs and wonders follow. Miracles are partial when your case is being mentioned by the man of God, but no physical manifestation occurs. A sister believing God for the fruit of the womb had dreams several times that she was pregnant after series of prayers, but she was still awaiting the blessing of a baby. Men of God might have confirmed this with good revelation but no physical manifestation.

Partial miracles can sometimes be more dangerous than lack of miracles. It may be allowed by God to test our faith, perseverance and our calmness. Sometimes these partial miracles are due to satanic interferences. Inability to pray until something happens may be a reason for partial miracle. Over familiarity with God, not recognising and acknowledging the Holy Spirit, as the Chief Executive Officer, complaints, murmurings and having little faith are among the reasons for partial miracles. As you pray the following prayers, the Lord Jesus shall give you a perfect and second touch, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
WHEN THERE IS NO CHANGE AND REPENTANCE, THERE WILL BE NO COMPLETE DELIVERANCE.

PROPHETIC WORD:
By the power that perfected the creation of the earth, your life shall be perfected.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. O Lord, arise and give me my complete miracles, in the name of Jesus.
2. Powers accusing me before my God, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3. Wicked spirits in the heavenly places saying “No” to my complete miracles, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Powers of failure and disappointment at the edge of breakthroughs, die by fire, in Jesus’ name.
5. My Father, lead me out of my village’s hindrances and darkness into my city of miracles, in Jesus’ name.
6. As from today, I refuse to see men as trees, in the name of Jesus.
7. My Father, make me whole and complete all You have started in my life, in Jesus’ name.

TREM Devotional 15 November 2018 – Your Story Will Change

Topic: Your Story Will Change [TREM Devotional 15 November 2018]

“Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not” Genesis 45:9 KJV

Joseph became the Prime Minister in Egypt. What he saw about himself finally came to pass. His brothers came and bowed before him just like he said. By this time, his brothers didn’t recognize him. He had to tell them: “I am Joseph”. His story has changed. Your story will change! By the time God is through with you, all your peers will not recognize you. Your detractors will not recognize you.

You see, Joseph’s brothers couldn’t recognize him but he could recognize them because they have not changed. They have not changed because they failed to see themselves the way God saw them. When you fail to see yourself the way God sees you, there will be no change. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV)

In the midst of lack, what are you seeing? What are you seeing about your meal barrel? What are you seeing about yourself? Are you going to die in penury? What you see is what you will manifest. While you are in your one room apartment, are you seeing yourself in a flat? Are you seeing your dining table? Are you seeing your settee? Don’t ever forget; what you see is what you get. The devil is trying to make you paint a different picture of yourself with the present-day situation. You don’t belong there. You belong to the kingdom of great people. Your father is a great God. That is your root. Your root is the root of greatness. Don’t settle for anything less.

DCLM Daily Manna 15 November 2018 – Seek The Lord

Topic: Seek The Lord [DCLM Daily Manna 15 November 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Zephaniah 2:1-15 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger (Zephaniah 2:3).

MESSAGE:

Our God is merciful; yet, He is a God of judgment. He has reserved a day in which he would judge the world for her wickedness. Jesus established the certainty of this end-time judgment: “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven…and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24:30, 31).

Verse 4 to 15 of the text explains the inevitability of God’s judgment upon nations that made themselves enemies of Judah. Similarly, God’s judgment upon all categories of sinners and backsliders all over the world is imminent. “The great day of the Lord is near, it is near; and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly” (Zephaniah 1:14).

The only escape route from the imminent indignation is to “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6, 7). Mercy and pardon await every penitent sinner who comes to the Lord in genuine repentance.

Sinners should repent and turn away from their sins and come to Him with a broken and contrite heart to receive forgiveness and pardon. It is dangerous to face the awful judgment of God!

Thought For The Day: Seek God to avoid His wrath.
