Topic: Reliability – A Key To Authority [Seeds of Destiny 28 October 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes…and the king thought to set him over the whole realm…forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Daniel 6:3-4

Thought For The Day: Your voice of authority is amplified by the weight of your reliability.

Reliability refers to the quality of being trustworthy, faithful, dutiful or dependable before God and man in all you do.

From our anchor Scripture, we can see that forasmuch as Daniel was faithful or reliable, the king placed him in authority. Therefore, reliability is key to authority. Nothing takes a person up in life like faithfulness. Thus, the limit of your reliability is the limit of your authority.

Nothing gives voice like authority, and nothing reduces a person’s voice like mediocrity. Your voice of authority is amplified by the weight of your reliability. Nobody can be in authority who is not reliable. That is why it is a pity for any nation to have her leader sponsored into authority on the platform of corruption and mediocrity and not on the basis of mentality and reliability. Scarcity and underdevelopment can’t be far from such a nation.

I prophesy to Nigeria and to other African nations that the days where people of low quality mentality rule over high quality thinkers and excellent people have ended. God shall empower the reliable, faithful, excellent and the dutiful to take over authority in such nations, in Jesus’ Name.

My counsel is, be reliable and faithful to God, yourself, your family and other people.

Remember This: Your voice of authority is amplified by the weight of your reliability.

Assignments:

1. Determine to be a reliable and faithful person to God, yourself, spouse, children and other people.
2. Live your life to such a point that people can trust you even when you are not with them.

Prayer: Lord, I make demands on Your grace to be reliable, dependable and faithful to You and to people around me. Deliver me from an existence in mediocrity Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Fiance of Murdered Journalist Jamal Khashoggi Declines White House Invitation – Urban Christian News

The fiance of slain Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi says she declined President Donald Trump’s invitation to the White House, explaining she believed the sentiment as one aimed at influencing public opinion in favor.

Hatice Cengiz talked about her fiance in-depth with Haberturk, a Turkish media organization, marking her first televised interview since Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi Arabia consulate in Turkey.

Trump said he wanted to invite Cengiz to the White House amid intensifying speculation that Khashoggi had been tortured, murdered and dismembered inside the consulate by Saudi officials.

“Trump invited me to the United States but I perceived it as a statement to win public favor,” Cengiz told Haberturk, according to a translation of the interview.

Cengiz broke down multiple times during the interview but made it a point that those responsible for her fiance’s death should be held accountable.

“I demand that all those involved in this savagery from the highest to the lowest levels are punished and brought to justice,” she said.

Saudi officials offered a barrage of conflicting explanations over what happened to Khashoggi since he walked into the consulate on Oct. 2 to handle some paperwork for his upcoming marriage.

Cengiz was waiting for him outside, but Khashoggi never left.

Open Heaven 28 October 2018 Sunday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Relevant Forever?

Topic: Relevant Forever? (Open Heaven 28 October 2018)

Memorise: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”- Hebrews 13:8

Read: James 1:16-18 (KJV)

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 27-28, Luke 12:8-34

Open Heaven 28 October 2018 Sunday MESSAGE:

In today’s memory verse, the Lord Jesus Christ is revealed as never changing. If you can catch a revelation of what this means in your spirit, your life will never remain the same. One benefit of His eternal consistency is that the works He did over two thousand years ago, He can still do today in the lives of those who believe and are yielded to him. Not only are His works unchanging, His word also never changes. No wonder the Holy Spirit said in Psalm 119:89:

“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”

If you want your life to be built on a sure foundation in this world of uncertainties, then build your life on His word. When you live by the word of God which is forever settled in heaven, it will cause you to remain relevant forever. If you want your life endeavours to outlive you, make sure they are founded on God’s word. I am appealing to you today to embrace the word of God which is forever settled. The world we live in is changing but God never changes, and His standard never changes either. For example, thousands of years after God commanded Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect, Jesus Christ came and echoed the same words to His disciples (Genesis 17:1, Matthew 5:48).

In our Bible text today, we have fundamental truths that cannot be wished away if you want to forever remain relevant spiritually and in the kingdom of heaven. It says:

“16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” – James 1:16-18

One of the truths contained in this scripture is that every good and perfect gift is from God, the Father of lights. You know He is your Father indeed, when like Him you illuminate the darkness of this world. Another of these truths is that this Father of lights does not change, and there is no shadow of turning with Him. As human beings, we may restructure, modernize, amplify and contextualize His printed word in our hands, but His original word is forever the same with Him in heaven. Lastly, the most effective instrument He has been using since the world began is His word (John 1:13). Through this same word are we born again and made perfect. His word is indeed magnified above His Name (Psalm 138:2). Beloved, the extent of your relevance depends on the extent to which your life complies with the word of God. Do you abide by His word?

Open Heaven 28 October 2018 Sunday Prayer Point:

Father, please help me through Your Holy Spirit to comply with Your word, and make me relevant to Your work here and hereafter Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 28 October 2018 Sunday Hymn 2: I Need Thee Every Hour

1. I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.

Chorus:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

2. I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.

3. I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

4. I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

5. I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.

What the Foreign Office thought of clergy meeting with President Assad

What the Foreign Office thought of clergy meeting with President Assad

The papers reveal government departmental staff believed the Anglican priest Rev Andrew Ashdown and fellow trip organisers were “parroting” the propaganda of leaders in Damascus.

Their latest trip, which took place six months ago, was “used by the regime as propaganda to undermine the UK’s position on Syria”, an FCO document seen by The Times claimed.

The Grand Mufti of Syria – the nation’s top Muslim cleric – welcomed Rev Ashdown, Christian peer Baroness Caroline Cox and Anglican priest Rev Giles Fraser to the Syrian capital in April (pictured below).

The meeting, hailed as a sign of solidarity with the country’s Christian minority, took place hours after UK warplanes struck suspect chemical weapons facilities.

The airstrike followed Prime Minister Theresa May’s condemnation of an alleged chemical weapons attack in the Syrian town of Douma as an “atrocity” and “stain on our humanity”.

In September 2016, Rev Ashdown was part of a British delegation of clergy and peers which met President Assad (pictured below).

The trips have been defended as “pastoral” and “fact-finding” in nature. Rev Ashdown was quoted by the Church Times in April as emphasising the need for dialogue with Syria’s leaders.

He said: “There are very good people in the Syrian government, and also some very bad.

Jordin Sparks’ Husband Dana Isaiah Tackles Sex, Purity, Social Media in Powerful Devotional

(PHOTO: INSTAGRAM/JORDIN SPARKS)Dana Isaiah Thomas, who married American Idol alum Jordin Sparks in 2017, is releasing a powerful new devotional for young adults.

Dana Isaiah Thomas, husband to “American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks, is releasing a powerful new devotional tackling issues all young adults face, from sexual temptation and social media to busyness and betrayal.

With a foreword from Christian rap/hip hop artist Lecrae, A Higher Calling: Claiming God’s Best for Your Life includes 31 “mini chapter” devotions reminding young readers that events that seem like setbacks can actually be springboards to a closer, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Thomas told The Christian Post that every devotional, which also includes a discussion guide for group use, is written from personal experience. The 26-year-old husband and father admitted he has made mistakes in the past — and wants to encourage other young people to understand that they, too, can have a fresh start through Christ.

“I wrote these devotions because these are issues I can personally address,” he said. “If you have someone my age who is open about their mistakes and willing to admit where they’ve messed up, others will listen. Mistakes are going to happen; they’re inevitable. But, I want young people to…

Man held on suspicion of trying to steal the Magna Carta

The 45-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning and remains in custody in Melksham, Wiltshire.

Police said in a statement that shortly before 5pm yesterday, alarms at the cathedral were activated following an attempt to smash the glass box surrounding the Magna Carta.

The man matching the description given by witnesses was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage.

Only four known copies of the document exist, with the version held at Salisbury considered by historians to be the best-preserved.

UK Government ‘committed to religious liberty’

UK Government ‘committed to religious liberty’

Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, who was appointed in July as the Prime Minister’s special envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief, also praised those who stand up for the right to exercise faith freely.

He said: “I am committed and I shall continue to push for a world where people of all faiths and none can live their lives free of discrimination, free of fear, free of persecution.”

In a video released by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office – where he serves as a minister of state – Lord Ahmad said it was right to remember those “who have suffered and continue to suffer” for their faith.

He added: “We salute those who stand courageously for these rights, who promote tolerance and respect between communities, different faiths and religions.”

It is estimated 75-per-cent of the world’s population live in countries where freedom of faith is not guaranteed.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), a charity which highlights incidents of religiously-motivated persecution around the world, encouraged Christians to pray about the issue.

5 Reasons Why You Need Financial Goals — Art Rainer

“I want to get financially healthy. I want to give generously, save wisely, and live appropriately.” You may have found yourself making similar statements. But as time went by, you found yourself no closer to financial health, no closer to giving generously, saving wisely, and living appropriately. What happened? Without goals, good intentions quickly dissipate. As you embark on your journey to financial health, goals are a must. This is why we provide the 8 Money Milestones in The Money Challenge. You need goals. Here’s why:

Your Church Is Not a Restaurant — Trevin Wax

In a consumer-oriented society, the default orientation for church attenders is to see their local congregation as a dispenser of religious goods and services. I say “default” not because it’s inevitable that everyone who goes to church perceives their congregation this way, but because without serious and sustained effort to have a more biblical approach people will naturally gravitate toward a view of the church that is influenced by a consumerist imagination.

Man held on suspicion of cathedral Magna Carta theft bid is bailed

The 45 year old has been released until 20th November while investigations continue into an attempted theft at the Wiltshire landmark on Thursday.

A hammer-wielding man who tried to smash his way into a display housing the ancient manuscript was wrestled to the ground by staff shortly before 5pm.

The text was saved from being “very seriously damaged” by a second layer of protective glass, according to the Dean of Salisbury Rev Canon Nicholas Papadopulos (pictured below).

An alarm rang and tourists watched on in horror at events unfolded in the building’s Chapter House area.

While three holes were left in the display, the artefact – one of the oldest surviving copies of the Magna Carta – was not damaged. No one was hurt.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We are still appealing for witnesses; if you were in the cathedral at the time and have not spoken to police, please get in touch via 101 and quote crime reference number 54180101438.

Royal wedding gospel choir surprises BA plane passengers

Travellers on-board a British Airways (BA) flight to Australia earlier this week were treated to a rendition of the popular soul track Stand By Me from the Kingdom Choir.

Global public relations manager for BA, Emily Coen said: “The passengers were delighted and surprised as they were tired after such a long flight.”

Several passengers captured the event on their phones, while others got out from their seats to dance and sing along.

On their Twitter page, Kingdom Choir said: “We had such a brilliant time performing Stand By Me and surprising some very unexpecting passengers on board our flight with British Airways to Australia.”

Choir members had subtly taken their seats on the plane before appearing one by one at the latter stages of the journey to entertain their unsuspecting fellow passengers.

Fans expressed their glee on social media. One posted on Twitter: “Awesome! The very best kind of in-flight entertainment possible.”

Another said: “Why does stuff like this never happen to me when I fly? I’m jealous! Beautiful performance.”

The Kingdom Choir received international…
