L.A. Dodger’s Clayton Kershaw Talks Honoring God as He Heads into the World Series

L.A. Dodger’s Clayton Kershaw Talks Honoring God as He Heads into the World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers made their way to Fenway Park on Tuesday, as Major League Baseball’s World Series began. Among the team was starting pitcher and devout Christian, Clayton Kershaw.

While speaking with CBN News, the thirty-year-old MLB player described how he has carried his Christian faith into the major leagues saying, “I think getting to play baseball and the blessing that it is to go play every day is a platform to incorporate yourself with a lot of other different people that think baseball’s cool. If you tell people you’re a follower of Christ, that you’re a Christian, it can resonate with people a little bit more just because of the platform you have.”

Kershaw explains that God continues to teach and guide him saying, “What God’s teaching me about my life … first and foremost, that He’s in control of it, which is sometimes hard for me to grasp. I think He’s really teaching me to let go of the reigns a little bit and just give Him complete access to my life.”

The star pitcher speaks of his devotion to God, stating “He’s all-powerful, He brings joy to my life, He brings pain and sorrow to my life, all for a purpose. Instead of trying to figure that out all on my own, on my timing, He’s teaching me that I’m on His timing.”

Regarded by many as one of the best pitchers in baseball, Kershaw has spent 11…

Serita Jakes Weeps With Mother of Botham Jean as Potter’s House Honors Her

(Screenshot: The Potter’s House)Serita Jakes, wife of Bishop T.D. Jakes (R) weeps as she listens to Allison Jean, mother of Botham Jean, who received the Lady of Grace award from Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, during the God’s Leading Ladies gala at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Woman, Thou Art Loosed! Master Class conference on Oct. 17, 2018.

Serita Jakes, wife of popular televangelist Bishop T.D. Jakes, was visibly brought to tears last Wednesday as she listened to Allison Jean, mother of Botham Jean, talk about how she has been drawing strength from Scripture since her son was shot dead inside his Dallas apartment by local police officer Amber Guyger last month.

The emotional moment was captured in a recording of Jean addressing the audience after receiving the Lady of Grace award from Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, during the God’s Leading Ladies gala at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Woman, Thou Art Loosed! Master Class conference.

“When I received the email from lady Serita Jakes informing that I would be honored with the Lady of Grace award for the attitude which I displayed following my son’s death, I pondered long and hard about receiving it. This has been a most trying period for my family. The year 2018 dealt us challenges of health, accident, unemployment and…

Open Heaven 25 October 2018 – Things Money Cannot Do

Open Heaven 25 October 2018 Thursday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Things Money Cannot Do

Topic: Things Money Cannot Do (Open Heaven 25 October 2018)

Memorise: “But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”- Acts 8:20

Read: Luke 12:15-23 (KJV)

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 21-22, Luke 10:38-11:13

Open Heaven 25 October 2018 Thursday MESSAGE:

One of the fallacies of life is the notion that when you have money, you have everything. How untrue this is! My experiences in ministry have taught me that there is so much that money cannot do. For example, money cannot make a barren woman conceive. If you doubt this, ask the wealthy Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:8-17). It is amazing that when Elisha asked this woman what she desired, she momentarily forgot or pretended to forget that there was something she lacked which her money could not buy, which was a child (2 Kings 4:13). Irrespective of this, in 2 Kings 4:16, Elisha declared to her:

“…About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.”

Why did she doubt Elisha’s declaration? It was because she considered it too good to be true! She also probably felt that whatever money could not do, nothing else could do it. I have good news for a user of this devotional: that need that money has failed to meet in your life, which you have used good money to travel across several hospitals in the world to resolve to no avail, you will receive it this season in Jesus’ Name.

I was once invited to preach in an area where the “who is who” in Nigeria reside. When I got to the particular house I was invited to and saw money in action, I decided to change my sermon to something like “It is good to bless the Lord”, because I could not imagine that family having a single need; but I was wrong. Before long, I realized that there was a problem that money could not solve in that family, so I introduced them to the God with whom there is no impossibility. At the end of the day, God solved the problem that money could not solve for them. God will solve the problem that has defied the power of money in your life today in Jesus’ Name. Today’s Bible reading narrates the interesting story of a man who was very successful in his farming business. Although most rich men are never satisfied with the amount of wealth they possess, this particular one was so rich that he planned to retire from creating more wealth, unfortunately, he did the same night he conceived his plan. His money could not prevent death from snatching him away from enjoying his hard-earned wealth. Shame to money that cannot save its owner from death! If money cannot save from physical death, how would it save a person from eternal death? Jesus said the foolishness of this rich man is applicable to those who lay up earthly treasures for themselves but are not rich towards God (Luke 12:21). Are you one of such people?

Open Heaven 25 October 2018 Thursday Prayer Point:

Father, please bestow on me blessings that surpass what money can buy in Jesus’ Name.

Pastor Greg Laurie Calls for a Jesus Revolution

Pastor Greg Laurie Calls for a Jesus Revolution

“Let’s not sacrifice the Gospel for coolness … what this generation needs is not more cool stuff, they need Jesus Christ,” Harvest Christian Fellowship Pastor Greg Laurie said of today’s young people.

Laurie sat down with PureFlix’s Billy Hallowell last week for an episode of the streaming service’s Pure Talk interview series to discuss his book Jesus Revolution: How God Transformed an Unlikely Generation and How He Can Do It Again Today and the need for another Jesus Revolution in America.

Laurie warned that the culture of today is similar to the toxic culture of the 60s and the 70s that was filled with riots, racism, heavy drug use and war.

“America was in flames. Upheaval, turmoil, riots in the streets, young men coming home from Vietnam in body bags, our leaders being assassinated before our very eyes… there was such chaos in the culture,” Laurie said.

But somewhere between the issuing of a 1966 Time magazine cover that begged the question “Is God Dead?” and the 1971 Time magazine cover sporting the phrase “The Jesus Revolution,” Laurie said, there was a “spiritual awakening.”

In Laurie’s book, he talks about how the Jesus Revolution saved his life overnight.

He said, “I was a 17-year-old kid. I was using drugs every single day. I was going in the wrong direction in my life,” until one day he fell upon a bible study outside of his high…

Pizza Shop Manager Drives 3 Hours to Bring Dying Man His Favorite Pizza

Pizza Shop Manager Drives 3 Hours to Bring Dying Man His Favorite Pizza

A Steve’s Pizza manager named Dalton Shaffer drove three hours across state lines to deliver pizza to a dying man.

Shaffer is a manager at a pizza place called Steve’s Pizza in Battle Creek, Michigan, where Richard and Julie Morgan use to live decades ago. According to CBN News, the couple loved the pizza at Steve’s, even going as far as to say no other pizza compared.

When the couple learned that Richard’s cancer was progressing quickly and he was losing his fight to the disease, they reached out to friends and family members to inform them he would be going under hospice care.

In a statement on Facebook Julie wrote, “Rich is home under hospice care and we are enjoying every minute reminiscing and visiting with family and friends.”

In an effort to do something special for the couple in their time of need, Julie’s father called Steve’s Pizza, and knowing how loved the restaurant was to his daughter and her dying husband, he asked them if they could send a card. Shaffer, however, had a different plan.

Julie wrote, “Unbeknownst to us, my dad contacted Steve’s Pizza and spoke to Dalton, a manager there. He told Dalton a little bit about our situation and asked if the shop might send a friendly text or card to us. Without hesitation, Dalton asked what kind of pizza we wanted, and told my father he would bring it to us.”

The couple lives in…

‘Excessive force’ used against Coptic monks in Israel

According to Middle East Concern, the security forces used “unprecedented force” against the monks who were opposing alleged violations of church property by the Israeli government.

It’s reported one monk was arrested and detained, but later freed after intervention from the Egyptian Embassy.

The dispute is linked to the Chapel of Archangel Michael in Deir Sultan which sits next to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It has been contested for many years after an Ethiopian congregation was permitted by the Israeli government to take control of the property, despite a court ruling upholding the property rights of the Coptic Church.

Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London, Archbishop Angaelos labelled the video “alarming”.

In a statement he said: “With this alarmingly and escalating situation, we pray safety and peace for His Eminence Archbishop Antonios and his clergy and community in Jerusalem.

“We also pray wisdom, discernment, and true visionary and reconciliatory leadership for Israeli authorities, as they find a legitimate path through this now complex situation in the very birthplace of Christianity, especially as it affects a community that represents the largest Christian presence in the Middle East, continues to face persecution, is recognised and respected around the world for its spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation, and has been a peaceful and…

Pastors to Hold “Blessing” of Ohio Planned Parenthood Facility

Pastors to Hold “Blessing” of Ohio Planned Parenthood Facility

A group of Ohio pastors will gather next month to “bless” an abortion clinic. The Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice will host the even on November 9that Planned Parenthood of Ohio’s East Columbus Surgical Center.

The event will “ask God’s blessing upon Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio’s East Columbus Surgical facility, the abortion providers and staff, and all those who pass through the center.” Organizers of the “interfaith gathering want to show that “Anti-abortion advocates do not have a monopoly on faith or God” and that “Many faith leaders and people of faith hold that accessing and providing abortions are good and godly decisions.

The “blessing” will feature prayers, “testimonies about receiving and providing abortion care,” and a message from Rev. Susan K. Smith of Crazy Faith Ministries.

The Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice claims to work for a “just society,” which in their view is defined as “one where people can live according to their beliefs without coercion. The Coalition says that it seeks “to raise the voices of the faith community to ensure that all people can access the reproductive healthcare they need. Regardless of income, race, or background. Free from judgment and intimidation.”

The Coalition joins other pro-abortion advocates who use moral and religious language to argue…

21% UK evangelicals disagree that Jesus is only way to salvation

Comres conducted a poll for Ligonier Ministries, a discipleship organisation founded by the American theologian R.C. Sproul, to look into what self-professing Christians in the UK thought.

They asked a series of in-depth questions about the Trinity, the authority of the Bible, the nature of Jesus and his role in salvation and whether people thought it was necessary to evangelise.

Some of the responses revealed that many evangelicals had parted from doctrines previously considered Biblical truths.

For example, 64% agreed either strongly or somewhat that God accepts the worship of those in other religions.

42% strongly disagreed with the statement “Even the smallest sin deserves eternal damnation”, with a further 20% disagreeing somewhat.

Dr Stephen Nichols, Chief Academic officer at Ligonier Ministries and the President of Reformation Bible College in Florida, told Premier Christian Radio: “This is a pretty intense survey and it has pretty intense questions and so it’s a way of diving deep beneath the surface to really uncover what people believe about God, the Bible, Jesus, salvation and also some key ethical issues.

“What we’re seeing here is the influence of the culture around us, the pluralism of our day, the ethic of simply tolerating religious views and we’re taking our cues from culture when we really need to be taking our cues from God’s word and from…

Amid Lottery Mania Hype, Franklin Graham Reminds People to Keep Their Faith in God

Amid Lottery Mania Hype, Franklin Graham Reminds People to Keep Their Faith in God

On Tuesday night, someone in South Carolina won the $1.537 billion Mega Million jackpot, but evangelist Franklin Graham wants to remind believers to put their faith in God instead of ‘lottery mania.’

Graham took to Facebook to write, “The media is calling it Lottery Mania! Mega Millions and Powerball are at record jackpot levels in the US—crossing two billion dollars. But the odds of winning are minuscule. I want to tell you about something that’s a SURE THING.”

Graham continued, “Every person is going to die and face eternity—money and material things won’t matter at all. The most important question will be: What did you do with Jesus Christ? The answer to that determines where you will spend eternity.”

He noted, “You can know for sure today that you will spend eternity in Heaven if you put your faith in Jesus Christ.”

“If you believe that God sent His Son to earth where He was born, lived a sinless life, took our sins upon Himself and carried them to the Cross, where He was crucified, died, buried, and raised to life on the third day. Turn to Him today in repentance and faith and accept this gift that lasts for eternity,” Graham continued.

The Evangelist then offers a bible verse saying, “The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). That gift is…
