FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 4:38-41

MEMORY VERSE: “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” –Obadiah 1:17

The MESSAGE:

Prophet Elisha was at Gilgal and there was a dearth (famine) in the land. The sons of the prophet visited him and of course he did the needful by asking his servant to set the pot for them. Unfortunately, one of them included wild vine in the pottage that was to be served; they all ate and trouble started. Their story was, “Thou man of God, there is death in the pot.” They could not eat again. They were afflicted and they were dying. They ate poison and a stranger of untimely death entered into their lives. Fortunately, the man of God was around, and he arose and there was a divine intervention that changed their story. Beloved, the wild vine is a contaminant, and whenever it finds its way into any pot, there must be trouble.

Spiritually speaking, the pot is your destiny, it is your dream life, it is your body, it is your foundation, it is that container that is serving your life all its required benefits. Therefore, the “pot” represents your career, your business, your source of livelihood, it is that your grown up child that is supposed to be your source of blessings and much more. The “death in the pot” is anything whatsoever that has been put into your pot as a contaminant, and it is either making it useless for you or making it useless to you. When a career that is supposed to be a tool for your elevation turns out to give you demotion and financial embarrassment, there is “death in the pot”. A business that ought to feed you and to be a tool to take care of your household is now pulling you into avoidable debt and backwardness. There is “death in the pot” when your body, which is the temple of the Lord that ought to give you strength to work and make money is always taking you to the hospital and defies all medications. There is “death in the pot”, when your grown up child, already trained by you and by now should be your source of joy and blessing, is now nowhere to be found. He does not bother about you and has neglected you. You should know that a demon of irresponsibility has taken over his or her life. There is “death in the pot”. Today, we have a serious assignment, and it is to kill all deaths in any pot of your life. You need to pray like a young man who graduated with a first class and got no job. He attended one of our programmes and the Lord said “Someone is here whose certificate had been urinated upon”. All of a sudden the power of God fell on him, and later he came and said it was his certificate. He was finally delivered and his certificate was sanctified.

Every death inside any pot of your life preventing you from moving forward shall die.

1. Father, I thank You for You have the power to deliver us from the power of death, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every evil seed already planted in the temple of my life, growing into the fruit of sudden death, die, in Jesus’ name.
3. Every incurable sickness hidden or known to me in my body, collide with the blood of Jesus and die, in Jesus’ name.

EVENING
4. Death in my dream life, what are you waiting for, die, in the name of Jesus.
5. Death in my business and career, it is your time to die, die by fire, in Jesus’ name.
6. Diabetes, cancer, HIV, skin diseases in the temple of my life, I send Holy Ghost fire against you, be melted away, in Jesus’ name.
7. Every evil medical report and story about my life, change to testimony, in Jesus’ name.

MESSAGE:

The name of Naaman’s maid was not mentioned, but I have believe that when we get to Heaven, the Lord will introduce her to us as the one who brought salvation to Naaman. I want Jesus to talk about me to God. This is more important that when men sing your praise.

Do you know that by declaring God’s goodness in your life or His saving grace, you are sowing seeds? Each time you preach Christ to someone, you sow a seed that releases its harvest in Heaven and propels Jesus to take your matter to God and speak so well about you so that the Father is compelled to grant all of your wishes. How often do you talk about Jesus and all of His great benefits? In my early days as a Christian, I always waited earnestly for testimony time on Sunday, I was usually the first to raise my hand because I was eager to tell everyone about Christ and the good things that He had done for me.

Key Point:

You can determine how popular you will be in Heaven by how popular you make Jesus here on earth.

Topic: Let God Minister To You [Andrew Wommack Devotional 13 October 2018]

John 13:8 “Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.“

Text: John 13:5-8

Peter’s refusal to let Jesus wash his feet came from a knowledge that he was totally unworthy to have the sinless Son of God serve him as a common servant would. Peter was correct in his assessment of his relative worth, but what he missed was that God doesn’t minister to us because of our worth but because of His love.

Even though Peter’s attitude looked holy and humble, he was actually resisting God’s will and committing an act of pride. Pride is not only exalting yourself above what is proper, but also, it can be debasing yourself below what is proper. Pride is simply self-centeredness or being self-willed instead of God-centered and submitted to God’s will. Peter should have been humble enough to know that Jesus knew what He was doing and he should have submitted himself to God’s will.

Likewise today, some people refuse to let God bless them, thinking they are unworthy of His favor. While it is true that our actions don’t warrant God’s goodness, a truly humble person will receive the Lord’s blessings as an expression of His love and grace toward them. Misguided humility is every bit as damaging as exaggerated pride.

Peter wanted to serve Jesus, but did not want to be served by Jesus. Jesus was telling Peter that unless he received His ministry to him, Peter would be unfit to serve Him. We cannot cleanse ourselves or others. We are totally dependent on the work of God’s grace in our lives. Then and only then, are we equipped to minister to others. Before we can be the blessing that we desire to be to God or to others, we have to let God be the blessing to us that He desires to be.

When you were born again, you weren’t half-reborn, you weren’t made half-righteous or a quarter righteous. You were made the righteousness of God in Christ! You were made a “joint-heir with Him.” According to Strong’s Concordance that term joint heir refers to “a personal equality based on an equality of possession.”

Jesus went to the cross to give you what He already possessed. He rose again so you could be recreated in His image. You are the victory of Almighty God! You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. You are everything to the Father that Jesus is. John 17:23 actually says that God loves you as much as He loves Jesus.

Once you dare to accept that fact, your life will be forever changed. You’ll no longer be satisfied to just sit around whining and wishing things were different. You’ll want to step up to the position of authority that Jesus has given you, to take your rightful place beside Him and learn to operate the way He does.

As His people, we are everything to God that Jesus is.

If you’ll receive that message, if you’ll dare to believe it, if you’ll dare to put it into action, it will radically alter your life. It will take you from religion to reality!

“So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bare a son”. Ruth 4:13

You will discover that from the time Boaz said to Ruth, “I will do to thee all…”; he literally took it upon himself and began to speak for her. Boaz did everything for her to the point that he got married to her. It was not even his turn to marry her. Boaz said there is somebody closer to you than me. Let’s tell him, if he refuses, I will step in. You know the story, the man refused, and Boaz stepped in. Why? Boaz was rich and Boaz was close to her. So, Ruth was redeemed. Ruth got married to Boaz and they gave birth to Obed. Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David and down to the lineage of Jesus Christ: our kinsman Redeemer. Jesus is your kinsman Redeemer. When you fall at His feet, He takes over your problems and difficulties. Beloved, Jesus came down and identified with you as a man. So He feels what you feel. And not only that, he willingly laid down his life. Jesus was not killed, He laid down his life. He paid the supreme and ultimate price with His life. You were redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

The book of Galatians 3:13 says ‘Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us”. He has redeemed you. Eph 1:7 says “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”. You see, we already have it. You have been bought back. How dare you look down on yourself. You are so precious that he paid the supreme price.

Topic: He Carried Our Burden [Our Daily Bread 13 October 2018 Devotional]

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

It’s not unusual for utility bills to be surprisingly high. But Kieran Healy of North Carolina received a water bill that would make your heart stop. The notification said that he owed 100 million dollars! Confident he hadn’t used that much water the previous month, Healy jokingly asked if he could pay the bill in installments.

Owing a 100-million-dollar debt would be an overwhelming burden, but that pales in comparison to the real—and immeasurable—burden sin causes us to carry. Attempting to carry the burden and consequences of our own sins ultimately leaves us feeling tired and riddled with guilt and shame. The truth is we are incapable of carrying this load.

And we were never meant to. As Peter reminded believers, only Jesus, the sinless Son of God, could carry the heavy burden of our sin and its weighty consequences (1 Peter 2:24). In His death on the cross, Jesus took all our wrongdoing on Himself and offered us His forgiveness. Because He carried our burden, we don’t have to suffer the punishment we deserve.

Instead of living in fear or guilt, the “empty way of life handed down to” us (1:18), we can enjoy a new life of love and freedom (vv. 22–23).

Prayer: Lord, sometimes our guilt and shame can feel so heavy. Help us to release our past and its pain to You and experience Your peace, knowing You have carried it all and have set us free.

Jesus carried the burden of our sin so He could give us the blessing of life.

Insight:
Our natural instinct is to lash out against injustice. But Jesus’s example (which is what Peter called it in 1 Peter 2:21) calls us to higher ground. Notice verse 23: “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.” Rather than returning what, arguably, His tormenters deserved, Jesus refused. In a sense, He chose to look up to the Father rather than down to those who caused His pain. Perhaps that was behind His prayer, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). In entrusting Himself to the Father, Jesus felt no need for retaliation.

Christ is the answer to sadness and discouragement. This is a world of thwarted hopes, broken dreams, and frustrated desires. G.K. Chesterton says, “Everywhere there is speed, noise and confusion, but nowhere deep happiness and quiet hearts.”

A Hollywood columnist wrote about a famous movie star, “The bright, carefree radiance has gone from her pretty face.” Optimism and cheerfulness are products of knowing Christ. If the heart has been attuned to God through faith in Christ, then its overflow will be joyous optimism and good cheer.

You will never be free from discouragement and despondency until you have been tuned to God. Christ is the wellspring of happiness. He is the fountainhead of joy. Here is the Christian’s secret of joy.

Prayer for the day: By Your love I experience the delight of a quiet heart. Deep down is the joy that cannot be taken away. Lord, may I always keep my eyes on You, my source of joy.
