Christian fair trade business Traidcraft could stop selling goods

In a statement to supporters, CEO of Traidcraft plc Robin Roth said: “Traidcraft plc’s recent trading has been poor, and despite enormous efforts by staff, management, Fair Traders, and many fair trade shops over the last few years to reverse the company’s performance we have not yet succeeded.”

Traidcraft’s charity branch, Traidcraft Exchange, will continue to support farmers and lobby government through its charitable arm and the decision about closing the trading arm is still in a consultation period and not final.

Traidcraft plc started in 1979, selling fairtrade coffee, sugar and chocolate as well as rugs and handmade baskets from Bangladesh. They started selling at church stalls and at markets, with a philosophy of close interaction of those who made the products and cutting out the middle-man.

They went on to sell fair trade clothes and wine.

Roth went on to say in his statement: “Traidcraft plc’s mission to put the principles of fair trade into commercial practice is not, in any sense, fulfilled but we appreciate that it is time to consider new approaches.

“We are very much aware of the impact that this will have on our producer friends. Over the years we have built up personal and trusting relationships with many organisations and we deeply regret that these will be coming to an end. We are communicating with all our partners to see if we can help them…

Sir Cliff Richard joins BBC series line-up after privacy case victory

The Christian entertainer will join stars including Ed Sheeran and Paul Weller in this year’s Radio 2 In Concert series, it has been announced.

Other artists on the bill for the November shows include Boy George and Culture Club and Emeli Sande.

The full line-up for the series of intimate performances was announced by Jo Whiley and Simon Mayo on Radio 2 on Wednesday.

Sir Cliff, who will perform on 29th November, said: “With my first album of entirely new material in 14 years due to be released in November, I can’t wait to play some of the new tracks and, of course, will also include classic favourites for fans later this year.”

Sheeran’s show takes place on 15th November, after he finishes his US tour, and he said it would be “really good” to be home.

The singer-songwriter said he was “not sure” whether he would play any new material at the concert.

“I think the best thing to do at those sort of gigs is to play the songs people want to hear,” he said.

“That’s the kind of key thing as an entertainer, to entertain people, so I think I’m just going to play songs that people like.”

Jeff Smith, head of music, BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, said: “2018 has been a bumper year of live music for Radio 2 and I believe we will continue that with our stellar line-up for In Concert, featuring some of the world’s best-loved musicians.

Christian MP caught up in expenses scandal narrowly survives recall petition

The Christian and member of Parliament also hailed his family and “true friends” for sticking by him after he narrowly avoided a by-election.

Mr Paisley would have been ousted as an MP if 10 per cent of the electorate in his North Antrim constituency – 7,543 voters – signed the petition. In the event 7,099 people signed it (9.4 per cent).

The petition device, created following the Westminster expenses scandal, was initiated after Mr Paisley was banned from the House of Commons for 30 sitting days for failing to declare two 2013 family holidays paid for by the Sri Lankan government.

A parliamentary watchdog found in July that a year after the luxury holidays, Mr Paisley lobbied then prime minister David Cameron not to support a UN probe into alleged Sri Lankan human rights abuses.

In a statement to the Press Association, Mr Paisley said the “electorate had spoken”.

“In July I apologised for a mistake made almost six years ago.”

“The electorate was asked to pass judgment. 90.6% have accepted my apology.

“The electorate has clearly spoken.

“I would like to thank my true friends, family, the electorate who have stood by me with unwavering support. Hallelujah.”

The long-standing Democratic Unionist, whose late father the Reverend Ian Paisley founded the party, is currently suspended from the DUP pending its own internal investigation into his conduct.

Dwelling In Understanding (Part 2) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dwelling In Understanding (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Dwelling In Understanding (Part 2)

Dear Reader,

Last week, I started a teaching on how effective communication can help you in understanding your spouse. I also said that effective communication is the bedrock of every successful and meaningful relationship. Therefore, in understanding your spouse, communication line between both of you must continuously be open and effective.

Looking at the Adam family, it is easy to appreciate the importance of effective communication. God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Word of God says in Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Adam, I believe, failed to effectively communicate the seriousness of the instruction to Eve. She thought it was a minor issue.

Also Read: God wants your Home to Succeed (Part 4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

If you read the account carefully, you will find out that in Eve’s dialogue with the serpent, she mentioned that God said, not commanded: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die (Genesis 3:1-3). But God did not just say it, He commanded it. She could easily be deceived because she lacked good understanding. This, however, is not an attempt to exonerate Eve for her misdeed. It is just to emphasis the essence of effective communication.

There is need for every couple to ensure that there is effective communication between them because as you talk together, you will be able to discover and understand each other better. Understanding is what makes anything outstanding. If the relationship between you and your spouse must be outstanding, there must be effective communication. Lack of effective communication can lead to shame, like that of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Effective communication is a vital key in every successful relationship. I have proved it and it has worked for me and I am too sure that as you give yourself to the dictates of the Word of God on this matter, your relationship shall witness a total turnaround in Jesus’ name. While discussing with the serpent Eve showed that she lacked effective communication in her marriage. If she had a good communication link with her husband, I don’t think she would have had time to communicate with the serpent. Please, dear reader, maintain good communication channels with your spouse before he or she begins to communicate with the devil.

You can make your home heaven by engaging in effective communication. Don’t assume you know each other well enough. Take time to talk together about your destiny and future. Talk with and about your children, talk about your finances. Discuss together about your dreams and goals in life and God will surely see to it that you do not fail.

There are certain benefits derived from effective communication. Intimacy is one of them. To be intimate means to be detailed and obtain knowledge of somebody by deep study or long experience. Intimacy always bridges the gap of loneliness but when there is no togetherness and no communication, there cannot be intimacy. When there is no togetherness, a gap is created, and when a gap is created, the enemy is given the opportunity to come in. But as you share together your innermost dreams and aspirations as a couple, you gain advantage over the enemy.

The scripture says in Ecclesiastes 4:9, Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Also, it is written in Matthew 18:18, Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

It is not possible for you to gain full understanding of your spouse except by the help of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth and understanding. Your access to the Holy Spirit of God is by accepting Jesus, the giver of all understanding as the Lord of your life. Therefore, if you want to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, say this prayer, Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 20 September 2018 Devotional — No More Same Old Same Old

Topic: No More Same Old Same Old [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Thursday September 20, 2018]

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever. — John 14:16 (AMP)

In today’s Scripture, God says He is doing a new thing. As you move into the future He has for you, you will encounter all kinds of new opportunities, and challenges. The days ahead will be full of new experiences, things you have never done before. You may not know how to do them, but you will learn. Everything you are doing today was new to you at one time—and look, now you can do it.

Continuing to face new challenges and develop new abilities is extremely important to your growth and maturity. As you walk with God into your future, you will hear Him say, “You have not done this before, but don’t be afraid. I’m taking you to a place you have never been before. I’m going to ask you to do something you don’t know how to do!” God has already been where He is leading you, and He has prepared the way. Step out in faith, and you will experience the faithfulness of God.

We think and say, “It’s time for a change! I need something new,” and then we hesitate to embrace that new thing when it comes. If you are ready for something new and fresh, don’t be afraid to embrace it when it comes.

Don’t stay trapped in the past. Let go of what lies behind and press into the great future God has planned for you. I can promise you: God is with you. He will lead you. He will strengthen you. He will help you.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for constantly bringing about change and new beginnings. Help me to embrace every new thing You bring into my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TOPIC: Mind Your Eye Gate (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries Thursday, 20 September 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 30:37-43

MEMORY VERSE: “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” – Matthew 6:22

The MESSAGE:

Our Fire Scripture today tells us how Jacob enriched himself from Laban’s flock through the principle of image capturing by the eyes of the animals. This principle is often used by satan to destroy the destiny of God’s people. He manipulated Eve to cause man to lose his inheritance. Genesis 3:6 records that “when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes… She took, ate, and gave also unto her husband”. It was the eye that got Ham into trouble whereas Shem and Japheth saw no reason why they should behold their father’s nakedness (Genesis 10:22-23). Joseph found grace in the sight of Potiphar, but the eyes of Potiphar’s wife landed him in prison. What shall we say about the load of affliction that confronted David and his family from the time he saw the nakedness of Uriah’s wife, the woman that was very beautiful to look upon. In the third temptation of Jesus, which satan might have considered to be the “joker”, he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory before demanding worship with a promise (Matthew 4:8-9).

This is the same principle used by Jacob when he designed a rod and used it to achieve a desired purpose. The devil also puts many lustful images, icons and pictures for humans to see, conceive and be consumed by what their eyes have beheld. The heart and mind can be captured through the eyes. Many are slaves to all kinds of sinful habits: pornography, adultery, fornication, idolatry, hatred, pride, greed, envy, wrath, strife, covetousness, theft, murder, drunkenness, gluttony, among others, because of the wrong use of the eyes. Believer’s bodies are God’s temple, which must be kept pure and holy continually. In all humbleness of mind and watchfulness, we must focus on Jesus at all times: seek to please God in your secret chamber and in the open, knowing that nothing can be hidden from His eyes. He promised to supply your needs, so mind the use of your eyes.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
THE HUMAN HEART AND MIND CAN BE CAPTURED THROUGH THE AGENCY OF THE EYES.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Divine anointing to overcome temptation shall fall upon your eyes.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Instruments of bewitchment set to capture my destiny, scatter, in Jesus’ name.
2. Any power that wants to use my eye to destroy my life, die, in Jesus’ name.
3. Any power hired to rubbish my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Environmental powers limiting my manifestation, scatter by fire, in Jesus’ name.
5. Powers hired to cause stagnation or retrogression in my life, scatter by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Divine revelation that will move my life forward, come upon me now, in Jesus’ name.
7. O God my Father, give me angelic visitation tonight, in Jesus’ name.

TREM 20 September 2018 Daily Devotional – Your Strength Is Restored

Topic: Your Strength Is Restored [TREM 20 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

“Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven”. – Judges 16:22 (KJV)

Beloved, I am glad that the story of Samson did not end in shame. I am glad that God restored strength to him, in spite of his self-inflicted woes. How many times have you gotten yourself into some trouble, and yet, God did not desert you? That is why I love Jesus; He never abandons His own. Today’s text reads, “Howbeit, the hairs of his head began to grow again…” That was a huge encouragement for Samson. This tells me that your strength, regardless of the reason why it was lost in the first place, is being restored to you, in Jesus’ name.

The Bible says when the hair began to grow, something happened. The Philistines had gathered for a convention, to celebrate the capture of their enemy, and they had him chained to mock, humiliate and embarrass him. Now put on your imagination; imagine how Samson must have felt. For someone who was used to being the victor, the conqueror, now in a helpless, victimized state. Unlike some of us, Samson did not call a pity party, or begin to cry. Rather, Samson beckoned on the lad to guide him to the pillars that supported the building, which the lad did. Samson then placed his hands on the pillars. That posture with his hands spread across on the pillars, was representative of the Cross; meaning that he leveraged on the power of the finished work and pulled down the whole convention ground. Eventually, he did more in his death than he had done all through his lifetime.

Child of God, I don’t know what challenge you are facing right now; but get set to recover all. By virtue of the finished work on the cross, I prophesy that you are recovering all. I don’t care how much ground you have lost or what the devil has done, I have an assurance from heaven that whatever you have lost in the past shall be restored. Restoration is coming to you. Receive it in the name of Jesus.

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 20 September 2018 – Time to Get Serious

Topic: Time to Get Serious [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 20 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee…. I [will] remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Psalm 63:1,6

If you’re going to live in divine health, there are going to be times when you’ll have to be downright extreme about the Word of God. Times when you may be facing a sickness so severe that you need more than just a few moments in the Word and a quick prayer to receive your healing.

I want to tell you, in very practical terms, what I would do in a situation like that.

The moment I woke up in the morning, before I did anything else, I’d take Communion. I’d say, “Lord, I dedicate my body all day today to the service of my Lord Jesus Christ. I take Jesus’ pure blood shed for me.”

Then I’d put the devil in his place. I’d say, “I rebuke you, Satan. You’re not going to put any sickness and disease on me today. Regardless of the symptoms, regardless of what my body thinks about it, by the power of Jesus through His Spirit, I have overcome this sickness because He who is within me is greater than he who is in the world.”

Then, all day long, I’d thank God for my healing. I’d choose some teaching tapes that would fill my mind and my spirit with the anointed Word of God, and I’d listen to them throughout the day. In the afternoon, I’d praise God and receive Communion again to remind myself that the blood of Jesus is in my veins, that I’m part of God’s family.

You don’t have to wait until the second Sunday of each month or whatever to receive Communion. Jesus just said, “This do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:25). And if you’re facing a serious attack of the devil, you need to remember Jesus all day and all night. You need to consider Jesus until thoughts of Him push the thoughts of that sickness right out of your mind.

That night before bed I’d receive Communion again, then I’d praise myself to sleep. If I woke up in the night, I’d reach over and get my Bible and read all the healing scriptures and make the devil sorry he woke me.

When the devil launches a serious attack against your body, don’t mess around. Get serious about the Word. Put yourself under its constant care and it will take good care of you.
