Seeds of Destiny 17 September 2018 – The Products of Faith

Topic: The Products of Faith [Seeds of Destiny 17 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Hebrews 11:1-2

Thought For The Day: Faith transforms possibility into reality.

Message: Faith building is a process that guarantees tangible products. Faith is a spiritual process with measureable spiritual products. The Book of Hebrews Chapter Eleven outlines the products of faith. It is important, therefore, to look at the products of faith.
Now, what are the products of faith?

1. Faith Gives Substance to Hope
Faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). Faith allocates substance to hope. This means, faith makes hope to become reality. Faith converts expectation to manifestation. Faith transforms possibility into reality. Faith takes intangibility and makes it tangible. Faith gives you a substance to handle.

2. Faith Gives Evidence to the Unseen
Faith is the evidence of things not seen; every man of faith sees what other people cannot see. A person of faith does not lack evidence or what to show.

3. Faith Gives Birth to Good Report
By faith, the elders obtained good report (Hebrews 11:2). Every man of faith is a man of news; that is, positive and result-oriented news. If you are not faithless, you cannot be news-less. To be faith-filled is to be news-full. There is something positive to hear about you always.

My counsel is, make up your mind to cultivate a life of strong and solid faith.
Remember this: Faith transforms possibility into reality.

Assignments:
1. Make up your mind to develop a lifestyle of faith continually

DCLM Daily Manna 17 September 2018 – The Middle Man

Topic: The Middle Man [DCLM Daily Manna 17 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain (1 Kings 18:41).

MESSAGE:

From Bible days to this contemporary period, spiritual awakening or revivals often began with a man or people standing in the gap through prayers.

Elijah had practical confidence in God’s word. As soon as the word of the Lord came to him, nothing could stop him from plunging into action. With all the prophets of Baal killed, their was a mighty spiritual reformation. The judgment of heaven had been executed; the people had confessed their sins and acknowledged the God of their fathers. Now the curse was to be withdrawn and the land refreshed with rain. “Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain”, Elijah had said to Ahab. Then the prophet went to the top of the mountain to pray. In humility, Elijah pleaded with God on behalf of repentant Israel. He sent his servant repeatedly until a visible sign of answer to his prayer was seen. With the undaunted faith and persistent prayer of this intermediary, the expected miracle took place.

God still needs men and women like Elijah, Abraham, Daniel and Esther who will stand in the gap between Him and the people. It is only through persistent prayer of faith that we can experience the needed revival (James 5:17).

As you face this new day, endeavour to quit your comfort zone and be “detained” in the place of prayer. The increase of iniquities in the land and the lukewarm credentials of so-called believers should ignite burden and passion in true believers to stand in the gap till God rains righteousness on the earth.

Thought For The Day: Stand in the gap and make a difference for God in the world.

Open Heavens 17 September 2018 – God’s Love

Open Heavens 17 September 2018 Monday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – God’s Love

Topic: God’s Love (Open Heavens 17 September 2018)

Memorise: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.1 John 3:1

Read: Isaiah 49:14-18 (KJV)

14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.

Bible in One Year: Proverbs 26-28, Mark 9:14-37

Open Heavens 17 September 2018 Monday MESSAGE:

The Bible declares that our God is love (1 John 4:8). He is love because no one else can love like Him. What greater love can a man have for his friends than to lay down his life for them? Our God’s love is incomparable with any other. People may claim to love, but you will find out that when their love is tested, it fails woefully. In contrast to this, God’s love never fails! He loves us so much that He has our names inscribed on His palm (Isaiah 49:16). Irrespective of the number of children He has all over the world, He knows every single one of us by name (Isaiah 43:1). Even every strand of our hair is important to Him, so much so that He numbered each one and not a single strand can fall without Him noticing (Luke 12:7). His love is unconditional, because while we were still living in sin, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Believe it or not, a breastfeeding mother can forget her child, but our God can never forget us. He loves us even more than our earthly parents do, and nothing can separate us from His love. He will never withhold anything good from us; all we have to do is ask Him.

With man, love comes with conditions. Some people only love people of the same or higher social class, and they treat every other person with contempt. As wealthy and highly placed as our God is, He does not behave this way. He came down from His kingdom and many mansions and golden streets to be born in a manger amongst animals, just so that He could associate and help us out of condemnation. He does not see you as a liability; rather He sees you as a friend to be treasured. Believe me honestly, God has His eyes on you all the time. He loves you so much that He doesn’t want you to get hurt, you may ask, “why then am I going through all these troubles?” our God did not promise that the road would be smooth all through life, but He promised that He will be with us all the time (Isaiah 43:2). His presence with you is assurance that no trouble can consume you, and that you will rejoice at the end of the day. However, have you given your life to Christ? He wants to take away your heavy burden, but He can’t do that if you are not ready to accept his yoke of Lordship. In Matthew 11:28-30, He says:

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Accept God’s offer of love today. Surrender your life to Him and begin to live a new life of great possibilities.

Open Heavens 17 September 2018 Monday Hymn 8: The Great Physician

1. The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!

Chorus:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest Name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2. Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heav’n,
And wear a crown with Jesus.

3. All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s Name,
I love the Name of Jesus.

4. His Name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The precious Name of Jesus!

A movement to awaken Christian women will take place in Washington D.C. in two weeks to embolden them to speak out as “Deborah’s” and minister to others who have been abused.

What is being called Deborah’s Voice “Awake. Arise. Advance.” will occur Sept. 29 at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Diane Mullins, who with her husband co-pastors a non-denominational church in Hamilton, Ohio and is the founder of Deborah’s Voice, said in a phone interview with The Christian Post Friday that the genesis of this began in January of last year. As she watched the news the day after the inauguration of President Trump she saw thousands women marching on Washington saying all kinds of things with which she disagreed.

“And what bothered me about it is that they began to say they were speaking for the women of America,” Mullins said.

“I got very frustrated because they weren’t speaking for me.”

As a socially conservative Christian she felt her views were not represented “but I also want to minister in…

Ex-Crossroads Pastors Launch New Church After Patrick Garcia Firing; Over 500 Attend

(Screenshot: Facebook.com / The Hills Church)Pastor Darryl Marin (L) speaks during a service of The Hills Church in Evansville, Indiana on Sept. 8, 2018. He is joined on stage by pastors Dave Bowersox (M) and Rick Kyle (R).

Pastors who either resigned or were ousted from the multi-campus Crossroads Christian Church in Indiana have started a new church that has seen as many as 500 people in attendance for a pre-launch “mini service.”

The Hills Church in Evansville, Indiana was created this month by former pastors who were affiliated with Crossroads before the elder board fired lead pastor Patrick Garcia last month due to what the church deemed “philosophical differences in church leadership.”

Along with Garcia, teaching pastor Rick Kyle was also let go and pastors Darryl Marin and David Bowersox resigned in protest of Garcia’s firing. Additionally, pastor Paul Linge also resigned in recent weeks.

Led by Kyle, Bowersox, and Marin, The Hills Church will officially launch in October but…

If All You Had Was Scripture, What Would Church Look Like?

(Photo: Pulse)Francis Chan addresses thousands of Christians gathered at Together 2016 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on July 16, 2016.

Francis Chan is urging the rising generation to reengage the Scriptures about how church is done, stressing that the U.S. model has gotten many things wrong, even though motivated by good intentions.

In an Sept. 4 interview with Relevant podcast, the pastor spoke of what he has learned in the years since he decided to step down from his position at Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, California and began a house church movement in the San Francisco Bay area called We Are Church.

“I got tired of hearing my own voice,” Chan said, explaining why he stepped down, something he writes about at considerable length in his latest book, Letters To The Church.

“And I felt like people relied on my voice too much and they weren’t getting in the Word for themselves, that they weren’t seeking God on their own.”

Yet because he did not give all of the reasons for why he left, people started making assumptions. Through several conversations with his elders and his own journey of poring over the Scripture about what the church ought to be, he came to the conclusion that he could no longer abide the status quo.

He tried to make some changes…

Bishop Rachel calls for reform for female prisoners

The Right Revd Rachel Treweek introduced a debate in the House of Lords, calling for a change to the way women are treated in the justice system.

She said, “We know that women in the justice system get caught in the so-called revolving door with short prison sentences. Women lose their homes; they often lose custody of their children, even to adoption. This often then exacerbates the downward spiral into more serious offences and an inability to secure employment.

“Properly resourced women’s centres can provide an opportunity for a different path, where women can receive a holistic trauma-informed approach of rehabilitation. We know that it costs approximately £47k per year to keep a woman in prison, but women’s centres can work effectively with approximately £4k per woman each year.”

Bishop Rachel said there are around 4000 women in prison, making up only 5% of the prison community, but that they have specific challenges.

“The majority of women offenders have experienced some sort of abuse, whether from a partner or a family member. According to the excellent organisation ‘Women in Prison’ 53% of women in prison have experienced emotional, physical or sexual abuse during childhood; 46% report suffering domestic abuse violence; and over 30% spent time in local authority care as a child.

“As a Christian I believe that our humanity and flourishing is…

Most British Christians believe God does not have a human gender identity

The report found that 41% of all Christians think God does not have a human gender identity, followed closely by 36% thinking God is male, 19% don’t know, 3% say a different human gender identity and 1% of all Christians think God is female.

The survey was prompted by Ariana Grande’s song ‘God is a Woman’, pictured.

More Christian women than men think God is male – 41% and 30% respectively.

The Sunday Telegraph report that the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev Rachel Treweek, tries to avoid using male-gendered language, saying: “I don’t want young girls or young boys to hear us constantly refer to God as ‘He'”

She likened it to going to a website and seeing all-white people and said she prefers to just say ‘God’.

The Rt Rev Rd Jo Bailey, the Bishop of Dorking, says she uses male and female imagery in prayers.

The poll also assessed people’s beliefs on God’s gender along other categories, such as which way they voted in the EU referendum, whether they were Catholic or Protestant and age.

Almost half of 18-24 years old believe God to be decidedly male, while older generations were more likely to think of God as without human gender. But with 2% of the youngest age group thinking God is female, they held the highest percentage on that issue than any other category.

Pray for Churches in the Carolinas

This week, Hurricane Florence made landfall in Southeastern North Carolina. As with any Hurricane, the strong winds have done a great deal of damage to cities on the coast. However, for the past few days Florence sat over the lowlands of the Carolinas dumping inches upon inches of rain. The rain has causes extreme flooding in the region and has displaced several thousand residents. The death toll—much of it from rising waters and flooding—currently stands at 11. Church buildings in North Carolina have also been affected. Many of them have taken on water as the flood waters have risen. Several churches also had structural damage to worship centers, educational spaces, and family life centers.

Please be in prayer for the churches, pastors, church members, and community residents affected by Hurricane Florence. Also Send Relief and the North Carolina Baptist Men are in preparation mode to move in once the storms and rain waters subside to aid in the recovery. Please pray for these volunteers as well as everyone who will be assisting in cleanup and recovery later this week. Storms like Florence may last only a week, but their impact is often felt for months, and sometimes years, to come. Please pray for the recovery and give to aid the causes in the Carolinas if you feel led to do so.
