MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 4 September 2018 – The Power to Overcome Evil in the World

TOPIC: The Power to Overcome Evil in the World (Mountain Of Fire And Miracle Ministries Tuesday, 4 September 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Galatians 1:3-5

MEMORY VERSE: “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”John 15:19

The MESSAGE:

The creation narrative states that what God made was good but the world became evil through man’s disobedience to God. Since the fall of man, the good and beauty in the world can best be discerned and enjoyed by those who have God within them. These are the blessed and the meek, which are described in the third beatitude (Matthew 5:5). They are the ones who inherit the earth, who enjoy its original purpose. This generation of evil will continue only for a time. Jesus did not come the first time to put an end to the generation, but He will put an end to it at a future time when He will come again in His glory.

The first time Christ came as a Lamb to take away the sins of the world. He saved individuals within this world, but He does not take them out of the world. He preserves the redeemed in the world during this age. He will come again to judge the world, and at that time, our human bodies will be changed. Christ’s death saves us from sin while we are still in this evil world. Christ’s death was a voluntary gift. His love for us prompted Him to give Himself for us while we were still enemies of God and at home in this evil world. Christ’s death was necessary because of our sin. When He did that, our sins were removed from us once and for all. They were buried in the depths of the sea, so to speak. He forgave our sins. The death of Christ thus deals first with our sins by removing them from us. He gave His own body, voluntarily accepting death for the sake of our own dead bodies. Our bodies were dead because of sin. Moreover, with His own resurrection, He also raised unto newness of life all those who believe in Him. He substitutionally gave His life to us at His resurrection. Thus, Jesus through His death and resurrection took away our sins and endowed us with His life. This guarantees our justification before God.

When Christ presents the believer to the Father and declares that the sinner, through the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, has accepted His offer, then the Father declares the sinner guilt-free. He is then justified and obtains peace with, and access to God. At this time, the sinner is changed to a new creature: he or she becomes just. He acquires God’s righteousness and nature. If we do not recognise our sinful nature, His death for us is ineffective.

When Christ removed our sins, He changed us completely (2 Corinthians 5:17). But the world and age in which we live continues to be the old, fallen, unredeemed world. It will not change until Jesus comes to reign forever and ever. Christ’s sacrifice is therefore the power to deliver the believer from the spirit of this evil age. However, this does not mean that He takes us physically away from the world, but He gives us victory over sin while we are in an age permeated with evil. We can be in the world, but not of the world, as our Lord prayed: “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil” (John 17:15). The will of God is that we should not be affected by any evil in the world.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
JESUS GAVE US HIS LIFE AND ACCESS TO THE FATHER, BY VIRTUE OF HIS DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Christ’s sacrifice will deliver you from the spirit of this evil age.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Every snare of this evil life targeted at wasting my life, catch fire and burn to ashes, in the name of Jesus.
2. Holy Spirit, separate me from the evil influences of my environment, in the name of Jesus.
3. Anything in me that attracts worldliness, die now by fire, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. O Lord, keep me away from the evil of this world, in the name of Jesus.
5. Holy Spirit, keep me spiritually alert at all times, in the name of Jesus.
6. I shall not drown in the ocean of life, in the name of Jesus.

David Ibiyeomie: Strive to Improve

Strive to Improve by David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Strive to Improve

God hates stagnation. Life is supposed to be progressive and dynamic and not static.

Prov.4:18 -But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

What many people are celebrating today will become obsolete tomorrow. Success you don’t improve on will become failure tomorrow. God wants you to improve on daily basis. What may be termed flashy today may become shabby tomorrow. What you are celebrating today as a result may be disgusting tomorrow; never settle for mediocrity.

On the road of excellence, there is no speed limit. To strive for continuous improvement on your road to excellence, you must avoid complacency and embrace continuous self-education. Schooling is different from self-education. School gives you information while self-education gives you transformation. Self-education is personal discoveries that can make you to recover your destiny in life. Great men succeed via self-development. You have to go beyond what school has taught you.

Another way to strive for continuous improvement is to major and improve on your comparative advantage. Your comparative advantage is your unique selling point. Continuously improve on your strength and not your weakness.

Judges 20:16 – Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.

The men in the above scripture were chosen because of their peculiarity; not because of their uniformity. If you want to continually improve, sharpen your strength and stop going for your weakness. Don’t do something everybody is doing; do something you can easily do and sharpen that skill. Your comparative advantage is in that your strength; that is where the world will know you from. Keeping improving on what you have proved and not in some other person’s area which you have not proved. David refused to use Saul’s armor to fight Goliath because he had not proved Saul’s armor. What brought David to limelight was a sling and a stone; not a military weapons.

1Sam.17:39 -And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

Striving to improve is simply looking at your unique selling proposition; using your energy to develop it. So, strive for excellence in the area of your strength. Stop celebrating your weakness and start encouraging your strength. May your strength announce you to your world in the name of Jesus!!

Furthermore, you have to embrace paradigm shift. A paradigm shift is about how we think, how we see things and how people see things differently. Don’t be blinded by your success of yesterday; rather improve it with what is happening today. Many people allow their successful pasts block the vision of their future. Thus, you need to open your mind to new ideas and be willing to exploit different ways of doing things; you must always open yourself to new things.

Success is a progressive realization of a worthy goal; it is not synonymous to rigidity and dogmatism. Success will become failure if you refuse to change with new ideas.

Isaiah 43:18-19 -Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

If God is embracing new things, you cannot afford not to embrace and do new things. You need a paradigm shift. It is not possible to make continuous progress when you are not teachable and correctable.

God bless you

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 4 September 2018 – Let God Be Glorified

Topic: Let God Be Glorified [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 4 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

And Jesus went forth…moved with compassion…and he healed their sick…. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. – Matthew 14:14; 15:30-31

Religious tradition says that God gets glory when we bear up nobly under the agony of sickness and disease. But that’s not what the Bible says. It says God gets glory when the blind see and the lame walk and the maimed are made whole!

In India or Africa where people haven’t been taught those kinds of religious traditions, when someone stands up and announces, “I come to you as a messenger from the Most High God,” people believe what he has to say. When they hear that Jesus, the King of kings, shed His blood for them; when they hear that He’s sent His messenger to tell them that He’ll deliver them from sin and sickness and death today, they get excited. They don’t argue with the Word of God. So you know what happens?

People begin to get healed. People start throwing away their crutches and flinging off their bandages! When we learn to hear the Word of God like that, the same thing will happen to us. God is no respecter of persons. His Word works for everyone. It’s how we receive it that makes the difference!

Our Daily Bread 4 September 2018 Devotional – Beyond the Stars

Topic: Beyond the Stars [Our Daily Bread 4 September 2018 Devotional]

Read: Psalm 8:1–9, Bible in a Year: Psalms 143–145; 1 Corinthians 14:21–40

You have set your glory in the heavens. Psalm 8:1

In 2011, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration celebrated thirty years of space research. In those three decades, shuttles carried more than 355 people into space and helped construct the International Space Station. After retiring five shuttles, NASA has now shifted its focus to deep-space exploration.

The human race has invested massive amounts of time and money, with some astronauts even sacrificing their lives, to study the immensity of the universe. Yet the evidence of God’s majesty stretches far beyond what we can measure.

When we consider the Sculptor and Sustainer of the universe who knows each star by name (Isaiah 40:26), we can understand why the psalmist David praises His greatness (Psalm 8:1). The Lord’s fingerprints are on “the moon and the stars, which [He] set in place” (v. 3). The Maker of the heavens and the earth reigns above all, yet He remains near all His beloved children, caring for each intimately and personally (v. 4). In love, God gives us great power, responsibility, and the privilege to care for and explore the world He’s entrusted to us (vv. 5–8).

As we study our star-spattered night skies, our Creator invites us to seek Him with passion and persistence. He hears every prayer and song of praise flowing from our lips.

Prayer: Loving Creator of the universe, thank You for being mindful of us.

The greatness of God is evident in His awesome vastness and intimate nearness.

Seeds of Destiny 4 September 2018 – God Is Not A Man To Lie

Topic: God Is Not A Man To Lie [Seeds of Destiny 4 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

Thought For The Day: God is too truthful to lie, too reliable to reverse, too dependable to deceive and too faithful to fail.

Lies and deceits are major elements of the decadent and fast degenerating system of the world. Most systems of the world are built on lies, deceits and falsehoods. We live in a generation where what most people say may appear true but are actually lies. Many business transactions and day-to-day activities of some people are based on falsehood or falsification of certain information.

However, it is important to know that we serve a God who is not a man to lie. Unlike man, God is too truthful to lie, too reliable to reverse, too dependable to deceive and too faithful to fail. Our God is a lie-less God. The lielessness of God also means the faithfulness of God.
Now, how do you experience the lie-less-ness of God? In other words, how do you see the manifestation of the truthfulness or faithfulness of God in your life? (Psalms 18:25).

1. Be Sincere with God
If you want to experience the sincerity of God, you must be sincere with Him. You must be dependable; let God be able to know and predict you (Psalm 18:25).

2. Be Authentic as a Christian
Being authentic means refusal to be hypocritical. There are many fake people today. Do not be fake. Let people see the authenticity of God in your personal life even if they hate you.

3. Be Truthful in Word
Do not say things that you don’t mean. To develop a high level of faith is to be a man of your words. You are truthful when you make promises and keep them.

My counsel is, mean what you say and always say what you mean; be authentic and sincere, both to God and to man.

Remember this: God is too truthful to lie, too reliable to reverse, too dependable to deceive and too faithful to fail.

Assignments:
1. Make up your mind to be sincere with God.
2. Be an authentic Christian in word and in action.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You forgive any area of lies, falsehood and deceit in my life. I receive the grace to be sincere, authentic and truthful in Word and in action, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna 4 September 2018 – He Who Is Hallowed

Topic: He Who Is Hallowed [DCLM Daily Manna 4 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: Psalm 104:1-23 (KJV)

Key Verse: “He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works” (Psalm 104:13).

MESSAGE:

The marvellous works of creation are a testimony to God’s power and majesty. The unfathomable number of the world’s valleys, the numerous expanses of landscapes, the breathtaking artistry of hills and the unspeakable varieties of land, water, animals and God’s greatness continually beats the imagination of science and philosophy.

In the passage today, a number of things about the Lord are revealed. He is “clothed with honour and majesty” (Psalm 104:1). He also covers Himself “with light as with a garment” and “… stretchest out the heavens like a curtain” (Psalm 104:2). Among other things, He “…maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire” (Psalm 104:4). He directs and controls nature the way He pleases (Psalm 104:5-23). Also, we learn from the psalmist that the Lord is good to all His creatures: “He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works” (Psalm 104:13). Even the beasts of the earth and all creation bow before Him.

The psalmist demonstrates an example of how believers should worship the Lord. In doing this, they fulfil their divine purpose on earth: “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” (Isaiah 43:21). The Lord adorns His redeemed in superlative proportion as: “a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a chosen generation and a peculiar people” (1 Peter 2:9). This awesome description is a reflection of His incredible glory and majesty. Therefore, we need to heartily worship God fittingly in the beauty of His holiness and majesty.

Thought For The Day: Praise and true worship constitute the believer’s heavenward indebtedness.

TREM 4 September 2018 Daily Devotional – You Have Been In-Christed

Topic: You Have Been In-Christed [TREM 4 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; all things are become new.’’ 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Oftentimes, the problem with us as believers is that we fail to appropriate what God has already done for us in Christ. Beloved, whenever you see yourself as flesh, you are limited and you miss the point. God does not see you as you are in the flesh. He does not see you as a sinner or failure. No! He sees you in Christ because you have been ‘in-Christed’. When you made Jesus your Lord and Saviour, you became one with Him in the Spirit. Colossians 1:27 says that “… Christ in you, the hope of glory:” Beloved, simply put, Christ in you is the end of shame, embarrassment frustration, disappointment and failure. Remember, He quickened you, raised you up and made you to sit with Christ in heavenly places far above principalities and powers. That is why you can never fail.

With Jesus on the inside and working on the outside, you have more than what it takes to succeed. Jesus didn’t have to die, but He did so you can walk in royalty. He wants you to be blessed, so refuse to be satisfied with the crumbs. Put on a success mindset. Think big! Talk big! Meditate regularly on these truths and no power or circumstance can overwhelm you. Let the enemy know that the Greater One lives in you and he will flee from you. Don’t ever forget that what God has done for one is an evidence of what He will do for another. You will not be denied. I cancel every delay in your life. My God will grant you speed. He will compress time for you. I declare over your life that the things that hitherto stood against you will begin to bow to you. Whatever has resisted in the past will submit to you.

Billy Graham 4 September 2018 – The Greatest Work of Christ

Topic: The Greatest Work of Christ [Billy Graham Daily Devotional 4 September 2018]

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. — Ephesians 6:12

Jesus worked all His life. But the greatest work that Jesus did was not in the carpenter’s shop, nor even at the marriage feast of Cana where He turned the water into wine. The greatest work that Jesus did was not when He made the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dumb to speak, nor even the dead to rise. The greatest work that Jesus did was not when He taught as One having authority, or when He scathingly denounced the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. The greatest work that Jesus did was not in the great ethical program He presented to mankind—that program which has become the foundation for Western culture. What, then, was His greatest work? His greatest work was achieved in those three dark hours on Calvary. Christ’s greatest work was His dying for us.

Prayer for the day: The battles of life must be faced, but I know they will not be faced without You, my heavenly Father.

Firefighters Try to Save Relics as Fire Engulfs Rio Museum – Urban Christian News

A huge fire engulfed Brazil’s 200-year-old National Museum in Rio de Janeiro, lighting up the night sky with towering flames as firefighters and museum workers raced to save historical relics from the blaze.

The esteemed museum, which houses artifacts from Egypt, Greco-Roman art and some of the first fossils found in Brazil, was closed to the public at the time of the fire, which broke out at 7:30 p.m. Sunday local time, it said in a statement.

There were no reports of injuries, the museum said, and it wasn’t immediately clear how the fire began.

Roberto Robadey, a spokesman for the fire department, said 80 firefighters were battling the blaze and that by midnight local time it was “just about under control” and should be out within a few hours.

President Michel Temer called it “a sad day for all Brazilians.”

“Two hundred years of work, investigation and knowledge have been lost,” Temer said in a statement.

According to its website, the museum has a vast collection related to the history of Brazil and other countries, and that many of its collections came from members of Brazil’s royal family.

Robadey said firefighters got off to a slow start fighting the blaze because the two fire hydrants closest to the museum were not functioning. Instead, trucks had to be sent to get water from a nearby lake.

But he added that some of the museum’s pieces had been spared.

“We were able to remove a lot of things from inside with the help of workers of the museum,” Robadey told Globo News.

Connected to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the museum has expositions…

Myanmar Court Sentences Reuters Reporters to 7 Years in Jail – Urban Christian News

A Myanmar court sentenced two Reuters journalists to seven years in prison Monday for illegal possession of official documents, a ruling met with international condemnation that will add to outrage over the military’s human rights abuses against Rohingya Muslims.

Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo had been reporting on the brutal crackdown on the Rohingya when they were arrested and charged with violating the colonial-era Official Secrets Act, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. They had pleaded not guilty, contending that they were framed by police.

“Today is a sad day for Myanmar, Reuters journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, and the press everywhere,” Stephen J. Adler, Reuters editor-in-chief, said in a statement. He said the charges were “designed to silence their reporting and intimidate the press.”

The case has drawn worldwide attention as an example of how democratic reforms in long-isolated Myanmar have stalled under the civilian government of Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, which took power in 2016. Though the military, which ruled the country for a half-century, maintains control of several key ministries, Suu Kyi’s rise to government had raised hopes for an accelerated transition to full democracy and her stance on the Rohingya crisis has disappointed many former admirers.

As the verdict was announced in the hot Yangon courtroom, Kyaw Soe Oo’s wife started crying, leaning into the lap of the person next to her. Outside the court, police and journalists shouted as the two Reuters reporters were led to a truck to be taken away.

“This is unfair,” Wa Lone…
