Parent’s Receive Miracle after Leaving Son’s Diagnosis “In God’s Hands”

Parent’s Receive Miracle after Leaving Son’s Diagnosis “In God’s Hands”

In July, Drew and Ariann Corpstein birthed a beautiful baby boy named Matthew expecting that he wouldn’t live longer than a few days.

During the Corpstein’s 20-week ultrasound the doctors discovered that the baby was missing most of his brain, diagnosing him with a terminal brain malformation. On the family’s GoFundMe page, they wrote, “Instead of a brain, it was replaced with cerebral spinal fluid. The fluid was going to continue to expand the head of our baby. The head size was measuring about 3 weeks ahead of normal. We were told our baby wouldn’t live past several days, if not hours, or die before birth.”

According to Fox News, the couple had experienced a miscarriage in 2016. With this in mind they began to prepare themselves to lose this baby as well. The couple chose to cease the day while they were pregnant with their son and went motorcycle riding and took a trip to Costa Rica.

Despite the fear they were facing in the potential death of their son, the couple continued to rely on God, saying, “Whatever happens, it’s in God’s hands.”

When baby Matthew was born the doctors discovered that their initial diagnosis was wrong. Instead of a terminal brain malformation, Matthew was experiencing hydrocephalus. This condition causes there to be extra fluid on fully developed brain tissue, meaning that the cerebral spinal fluid they thought…

SBC President JD Greear Responds to Critics After Attending Trump White House Evangelical Dinner

(Photo: Twitter/@FLOTUS)Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear smiles as he attends a dinner with about 100 other evangelical leaders and their spouses at the White House in Washington on Aug. 27, 2018.

Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear has explained why he chose to attend last night’s White House dinner to honor evangelical leaders despite his calls for the denomination to decouple itself from political partisanship.

As about 100 evangelical leaders and their wives attended the state-like dinner in Washington, D.C., there were some new faces in the crowd of pastors, evangelists and activists who had not previously engaged with the administration in a public manner.

Greear, who became the youngest SBC president in history this summer, was one who seemed to some critics to be a bit out of place because he represents a more progressive strain within the SBC and has decried Church entanglement with political parties.

Greear has also warned against church leaders declaring “a particular political strategy as God’s.”

Considering that President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were given a Bible signed by evangelical leaders that had an inscription that reads “History will record the greatness that you have brought for generations,” Greear…

Open Heavens 29 August 2018 – Arguing with the OMEGA?

Open Heavens 29 August 2018 Wednesday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Arguing with the OMEGA?

Topic: Arguing with the OMEGA?

Memorise: “Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.”- 1 Kings 20:11b

Read: Matthew 26:30-35 (KJV)

30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Bible in One Year: Psalm 81-87, Matthew 26:69-27:14

Open Heavens 29 August 2018 Wednesday MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, we see an overconfident Peter arguing with the One who’s Name is Omega. Perhaps Peter forgot that as the Omega, God knows the end from the beginning. You need to recognize that overconfidence is not synonymous with faith. While overconfidence ignores that which is ordained as if it were not, faith calls those things that be not as though they were. When God’s ordained word says “abstain from all appearance of evil and flee fornication”, it is overconfidence and not faith that makes a brother linger in a place where female nudity is on display. Your faith cannot annul God’s word. Some people believe that as new creatures in Christ, they are now super beings, no longer susceptible to weakness or temptations. Driven by overconfidence and not faith, such people throw wise checks and balances established in God’s word out of the window. No wonder they end up in the same pitiable state Peter found himself in after denying Christ thrice. After Jesus told Peter what would happen to him shortly, instead of praying for grace to stand firm or praying for a reversal of his impending denial, he was busy making “confession of overconfidence” and not “confession of faith” as he supposed. Hear his confessions in Matthew 26:35b

“…Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee.”

Unfortunately, the same mouth Peter used in making these confessions also denied Christ. Your confessions must be based on the totality of God’s word, if you don’t want to engage in a futile exercise. There is a place for making confession and affirmations, but basing them on an isolated portion of God’s word cannot override the generality of God’s principles.

Apostle Paul got it right when he longed to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. In Philippians 3:12, Paul revealed his mindset with these words:

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.”

Unlike Paul, some people behave as if they have arrived. Some of such people even try to persuade me to slow down and rest upon what God has done for me over the years in the ministry. They forget that only those who endure to the end will be saved (Matthew 10:22). Beloved, continually search the scriptures, and make God’s word your compass in life. Pray earnestly also that the grace of Jesus Christ will be more than enough for you to finish well and strong.

Prayer Point: Open Heavens 29 August 2018 Wednesday

Father, I have no power of my own; help me to finish well and strong in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 29 August 2018 Wednesday Hymn 4: Trust and Obey

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Welsh cathedral axes music team

The director of music at St Asaph Cathedral in Denbighshire, Alan McGuinness and the assistant director of music, John Hosking, have both lost their jobs.

The Dean at St Asaph Cathedral, Very Rev Nigel Williams thanked the two men for their “exemplary performance, hard work and dedication”.

In a statement seen by local newspaper the Rhyl Journal, he said: “It is with the greatest regret that we are no longer able to sustain the employment arrangement of a director of music and an assistant director of music.

“Therefore, the posts in their current form, are being made redundant.

“We wish Alan and John all the best in their future careers.”

Very Rev Williams also said “modest temporary arrangements” were being introduced to ensure standards of music and worship at St Asaph’s Cathedral shall not suffer.

Earlier this month, he warned of budget cuts and a “small number of redundancies”, saying the attraction – thought to be the smallest Anglican cathedral in Great Britain – has been under “financial pressure for some time”.

How Faith Helped America’s Youngest Face Transplant Recipient Want to Live Again

(Screenshot/Photos: YouTube; Cleveland Clinic)Katie Stubblefield (L) before she shot herself in the face. Katie after the injury (C) and Katie as she now appears after a full face transplant (R).

Four years after she shot herself in the face in a botched suicide attempt that left her grossly disfigured at age 18, Katie Stubblefield has become the youngest person in America to receive a face transplant.

Now 21 years old, Katie is giving thanks to her faith, family and the work of a host of medical experts from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio where she underwent an intense 31-hour full-face transplant for her second chance at life.

“To reach this point of recovery has oftentimes been a difficult road to travel, but I’m thankful there’s been a road,” she said in a Cleveland Clinic release.

The injury to Katie’s face had left her unable to see, speak, breathe through her nose, swallow food, chew or move her tongue. The groundbreaking procedure replaced 100 percent of Katie’s facial tissue, and required the skills of experts from 15 specialties, including 11 surgeons who worked in two operating rooms.

Doctors replaced Katie’s scalp, forehead, upper and lower eyelids, eye sockets, nose, upper cheeks, upper jaw and half her lower jaw, upper and lower teeth, some facial nerves, facial muscles and skin to give her her new look.

Katie’s journey is chronicled in an extensive and graphic report by National Geographic in which her will to live is much more palpable than that fateful day in 2014 when her teenage self thought she would be better off dead.

“I’m just very thankful to be alive,” Katie said in…

Catholic Charities of Buffalo Closes Foster and Adoption Services over New York Rule

Catholic Charities of Buffalo Closes Foster and Adoption Services over New York Rule

Catholic Charities of Buffalo chose to end foster care and adoption services rather than end their practice of only placing children in homes with a father and a mother. The state of New York has a rule that forces registered foster care and adoption agencies registered with the state to see no difference between a husband and a wife and same-sex couples.

In explaining the difficult decision, Catholic Charities of Buffalo CEO Dennis Walczyk explained, “We’re a Catholic organization, so we have to practice what we do consistent with the teaching of the church.”

The agency’s leadership began discussing the issue over the summer when a same-sex couple applied to be foster parents through Catholic Charities. Some employees told The Buffalo Newsthat they were not aware that they would not place children in same-sex households until they received the same-sex couple’s application.

The state of New York has no intentions of bending their rules to accommodate Christian agency’s objections to same-sex marriage. New York Office of Children and Family spokeswoman Monica Mahaffey said, “Discrimination of any kind is illegal and in this case (Children and Family Services) will vigorously enforce the laws designed to protect the rights of children and same sex couples.” Then she added, “There is no place for providers that choose not to follow the…

Wife of Pastor Andrew Stoecklein Left ‘Completely Heartbroken’ After Suicide

(Photo: Instagram)Kayla and Andrew Stoecklein discuss their struggle with the late pastor’s mental health problems at Inland Hills Church in Chino, Calif. on August 12, 2018.

She was perhaps his greatest cheerleader but the miracle Kayla Stoecklein hoped and prayed would pull her husband from the depths of despair and anxiety never materialized and now she is “completely heartbroken.”

“Please pray for me and the boys. I don’t know how I am going to face this, I am completely heartbroken, lost, and empty. Never in a million years would I have imagined this would be the end of his story,” she wrote on Instagram Sunday.

Kayla’s husband, Pastor Andrew Stoecklein, 30, took his own life last weekend after an open battle with depression and anxiety.

The couple, who have three sons together, had been frank with their congregation at the nondenominational Inland Hills megachurch in Chino, California. They were all believing together that God would give him the strength he needed to overcome a succession of unexpected challenges he experienced as he tried to lead the church his father had only recently left behind.

Andrew’s father, Dave Stoecklein, founded Inland Hills Church in 1987 and it flourished under him. On Oct. 9, 2015, at age 55, Dave Stoecklein died from cancer, leaving…

Nigerian Christian girl held captive for her faith begs for freedom

The 15-year-old Christian teenager was kidnapped in February by Boko Haram in Dapchi in Yobe state, Nigeria, along with 109 of her classmates.

While five died during the ordeal and the rest were freed, it’s been reported Leah’s captors kept her because she refused to convert to Islam.

In the clip released by a Nigerian news agency The Cable, Leah, who is seen in pictures wearing a hijab, asked for help in the Nigerian Hausa language.

“I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted in GGSS Dapchi. I am calling on the government and people of goodwill to intervene to get me out of my current situation,” she said.

“I also plead to the members of the public to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament. I am begging you to treat me with compassion, I am calling on the government, particularly, the president, to pity me and get me out of this serious situation. Thank you.”

Sources told The Cable that the audio and pictures provided were part of the proof of life requirement needed to renew negotiation efforts between the government and the Islamic State West Africa Province, which is the breakaway faction of Boko Haram that kidnapped the schoolgirl.

Amnesty International Starts Campaign Calling for the Release of Four Iranian Christians

Amnesty International Starts Campaign Calling for the Release of Four Iranian Christians

Amnesty International is calling for the release of four Iranians who were sentenced to prison for “practicing their Christian Faith.”

Amnesty International’s report is asking the Iranian government to “quash the convictions and sentences of Victor Bet-Tamraz, Shamiram Isavi, Amin Afshar-Naderi, and Hadi Asgari, as they have been targeted solely for the peaceful exercise of their rights to freedoms of religion and belief, expression, and association, through their Christian faith.”

The prisoners are out on bail and awaiting appeal decisions.

Amnesty International is asking its supporters to write letters to the government to “stop harassment, arbitrary arrest and detention, and imprisonment of Christians, including converts, in Iran.”

The Assyrian pastor Victor Bet-Tamraz and wife Shamiram Isavi were both arrested in 2014 during Christmas celebrations.

Victor was charged with “conducting evangelism” and “illegal house-church activities.” He was given a 10-year sentence and his appeal was heard in court in June.

His wife also appealed her own five-year prison sentence for “acting against national security and against the regime by organising small groups, attending a seminary abroad and training church leaders and pastors to act as spies.”

Representatives for Article 18, an organization that supports Christians in…
