“And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; …..” Genesis 26:2&3

Isaac wanted to run away from the land of famine. He had already packed his bag to run before God came to him and said Isaac you are going nowhere. You don’t belong to the heritage of those who quit. No! Isaac, you are not running away! There is a mandate of blessing over your life. Your father laid hands on you and gave you his all. In Genesis 25 the bible tells us that Abraham gave his all to Isaac. With that blessing, he can change his situation. We are not of them that withdraw unto perdition or cast away their confidence.

God told Isaac to sow in that same land. Isaac said but no one has ever done it before. Child of God, why are you bothered if somebody hasn’t done it before? You are not like them. Your case is different. Others may not have done it but you are different. Yes, in the time of famine people do not sow but God’s instruction is sowed in the land. In other words, do the unusual! If it is the norm, then it is not new. He has designed you for new things. I don’t know about you; I am expecting unusual things this year. I am expecting God to do something that will make people stand in awe of Him.

God said sow in that land and the scriptures told us in Genesis 26:12 that Isaac sowed in the land and in that same year he reaped a hundred-fold. And the bible said he waxed great and went forward, he grew until he became very great. In the name that is above every name that will be your testimony! You will wax great. You will go forward until you will become very great.

John 11:44 “And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

Symbolically, Lazarus is like many Christians. The Bible speaks of us passing from death unto new life when we get born again. But it is also true that in the physical and emotional realm, we bring our “graveclothes” from our old life with us (i.e. habits, attitudes, etc.), and we need to be “loosed” to fully enjoy our new life.

Our emotions and attitudes follow what we think. When we focus our attention on our problems, they are magnified out of proportion. When we neglect our problems and think on God’s provision, the answer is magnified and the problem shrinks. Whatever we think upon is going to dominate us. If we think on depressing things, we’ll be depressed. If we think on uplifting things, we’ll be uplifted. If we think, “by His stripes, we are healed”, we’ll be healed. If we think on sickness, we’ll be sick.

Godly contentment isn’t dependent upon circumstances. That is totally opposite of the way most people think today. No one really desires depression but very few feel any responsibility or authority to maintain positive emotions in the face of negative circumstances. They think emotions follow circumstances. That’s not true. Emotions follow the way we think, and we can chose to think on things that are lovely, true, of good report, and so forth regardless of our circumstances. As we think, is how we respond emotionally.

Focus your attention on the invisible truths of the spiritual realm that are eternal, instead of the visible things of this physical world that will pass away.

With a frequency that is amazing, the Bible affirms the fact of the bodily resurrection of Christ. Perhaps the most direct of all its statements is Luke’s account in the book of Acts, where he reports, “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days” (Acts 1:3). What are we going to do with these “many infallible proofs”? Someone asked my colleague George Beverly Shea how much he knew about God. He said, “I don’t know much, but what I do know has changed my life.” We may not be able to take all of this evidence into a scientific laboratory and prove it; but, if we accept any fact of history, we must accept the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

Prayer for the day: All the arguments concerning Your existence are refuted, Lord Jesus, as I feel Your presence each day. It causes my soul to rejoice knowing that You, my living Lord, are with me!

Open Heavens 13 August 2018 MESSAGE:

Food can be very powerful. Adam and eve lost their life of bliss, peace and abundance, glory and honor to food. It is rather unfortunate that many people today are still losing their great destiny to food. It is amazing that in spite of the abundant food provided by God for Adam and eve, they still developed an appetite for that which was forbidden. It is quite easy to look at them now and judge them, but when you look at the world today and see how food is wrecking the lives of many, you will be shocked. To fast is the most difficult thing for some people because their belly has become their master, and even in some cases, their god (Philippians 3:19). When you read the account of how food destroyed Esau’s destiny and consider that the devil also tried to use food to destroy the destiny of our Lord, you will realize that addiction to food can actually devastate a person’s life.

In Genesis 25:29-34, poor Esau had just returned from his hunting expedition with juicy bush meat. However, instead of settling down to prepare a meal with it, he lusted after Jacob’s pottage, which was ready to eat. Unknown to him, Jacob had been eyeing his privilege as the first born. It did not take Jacob mush time to start bargaining with Esau for what he had always desired from birth. While Esau lusted for food, Jacob lusted for the birthright of the firstborn. Within a few minutes, they struck a bargain: Esau got the food he desired and Jacob went away with the privilege of the firstborn. By the time Esau realized the value of the birthright he sold for food, it was too late (Hebrews 12:16-17). It may sound unbelievable, but many ladies have sold their pride of virginity for food. Many housewives have become unfaithful to their husbands because of the generosity of a man who comes to their aid when there is no food at home. A good number of men are now polygamous because they could not control their appetite for delicious meals of strange women. Beloved, here’s the good news: although the first Adam fell for food, the second Adam triumphed over the temptation of food brought by the same tempter (Luke 4:3-4). As seen from Christ’s example, the only way to avoid falling into the devil’s temptation is to heed the word of God. If you will overcome the devil in the area of food, the end can never justify the means for you. A stone that is turned into bread will never digest if you happen to eat it; it is just a lie designed by the devil to steal from you. So please, don’t eat your destiny. Rather, be guided by the word of God. A job you get by sleeping with the personnel manage will not last; it will only bring sorrow and great disappointment to your life. Be wise today.

Prayer Point: Father, please help me to value faithfulness to Your word above anything like food that represents a means of survival.
