DCLM Daily Manna 12th August 2018 – Guard Your Salvation Jealously

Topic: Guard Your Salvation Jealously [DCLM Daily Manna 12th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: Genesis 25:27-34 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?” (Genesis 25:32).

MESSAGE:

When King Ahab coveted Naboth’s vineyard and requested to take it, Naboth declined, saying: “The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee” (1 Kings 21:1-3). Though he eventually lost his life through Jezebel’s plot, it was a noble act of bravery and protection of his inheritance.

Isaac’s family was marred by ungodly preferences – Isaac loved Esau and Rebekah preferred Jacob. The children on their own did not help matters either, as the struggle for headship started from the womb. Esau’s request for pottage from his brother would have been uneventful were it not for this deep-seated rivalry. So, Jacob demanded for Esau’s birthright as an exchange for the food. Surprisingly, Esau acceded to the request and even swore to it. He got the food but lost the birthright. Today, Satan still makes demands on people, including believers, to surrender their “birthright” to him in exchange for some kind of “pottage of lentils” in the form of position, wealth or fame.

The salvation from sin that Christ brought is the greatest gift ever given by God to man. As a believer, rejoice that your name is written in heaven. Paul counted all things “but dung”, and all his sufferings as “light affliction”, because he understood what salvation meant. He was ready to pay any price to keep it.

The sad story of Esau should be an eye-opener to every heaven-bound citizen to preserve his “birthright” through watchfulness, constant prayer and obedience to the counsel of God.

Thought For The Day: Keep your “birthright” with all diligence.

Seeds of Destiny 12 August 2018 – The Therapy for a Lifestyle of Strife and Bitterness

Topic: The Therapy for a Lifestyle of Strife and Bitterness [Seeds of Destiny 12 August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14.

Thought For Standard: You cannot strive with the person you pray for consistently.

Previously, we identified the dangers of the lifestyle of strife and competitive jealousy; we saw that progress is arrested where strife is in place; focus is distracted where strife is established, competition equals limitation, and the presence of strife is the absence of God.

It is important to understand the therapy for a lifestyle of strife and bitterness in order to fulfil destiny.

Now, what are the therapies for the life of strife and bitterness?
i) Struggle only to be what God wants you to be
Do not struggle to be like others or do what another person is striving to achieve, rather struggle to be who God wants you to be. What you are to be should be what God wants you to be (Philippians 3:14).

ii) Refuse every temptation to jealousy and competition
Avoid every invitation to compete or strive with someone (2 Corinthians 10:12).

iii) Wish everybody well
Pray for those who try to strive and compete with you. Tell God, ‘O Lord, bless my sister or brother, may they not become anything less than what they were created for. May they fulfil their life’s assignment’ When you do this from the depth of your heart, every hatred will die. You cannot tell God to make somebody everything He wants them to be without God making you to become all He wants you be.

Beloved, life is a seed; life is practical. Decide to pray for people because you cannot strive with the person you pray for consistently.

Remember this: You cannot strive with the person you pray for consistently.

Assignments:
1. Decide to be what God wants you to be
2. Determine to wish everyone well
3. Remain focused on your purpose for existence; refuse to be stagnated by jealousy and competition

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You give me the focus to be what You want me to be. I receive the grace to wish everyone well and pray for them, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Andrew Wommack 12th August 2018 Daily Devotional

Topic: Groaning In the Spirit [Andrew Wommack 12th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

John 11:33 “When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.”

The Greek word that is translated “groaned” expresses that Jesus was deeply moved, but not necessarily with sorrow. It was more a groan of anger at Satan who had caused all the grief Jesus was seeing around Him. Jesus came to “destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Heb. 2:14), and He was grieved to see the pain that His enemy had inflicted on those He loved.

This is the type of groaning that the Holy Spirit does for us. It is not just the Holy Spirit sympathizing with us, but it is the Holy Spirit doing battle for us when we don’t know how to pray. In this case, it was the Holy Spirit doing battle through Jesus against death and the doubt of those present, that would have kept Lazarus in the grave.

Everyone who has the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit has or will have this happen to them. This groaning of the Holy Spirit is not just grief but a groan of anger and resistance against Satan’s devices in our lives. Many times Christians don’t discern this because they think it is just them grieved with their situation. But this is the Holy Spirit desiring to get into intercession with us against our problems.

Although the groaning is unutterable, you can discern it, and many times people react with audible groans or other outward acts. This has led to religious doctrines and traditions that are unscriptural and offensive to many people. There is nothing wrong with us reacting to the inner working of the Holy Spirit as long as we don’t confuse our reactions with the Holy Spirit’s actions. This intercession cannot be uttered. Any counterfeits that religion may have produced only serve to illustrate that there has to be a genuine. The genuine groaning in the Spirit is priceless.

Billy Graham 12th August 2018 – Poverty of Soul

Topic: Poverty of Soul [Billy Graham Daily Devotional 12 August 2018]

For my people [are] foolish, they have not known me . . . — Jeremiah 4:22

No man is more pathetic than he who is in great need and is not aware of it. Remember Samson? Standing there in the valley of Sorek, surrounded by the lords of the Philistines, ” . . . he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.” It has been truly said, “No man is so ignorant as he who knows nothing and knows not that he knows nothing. No man is so sick as he who has a fatal disease and is not aware of it. No man is so poor as he who is destitute, and yet thinks he is rich.” The pitiable thing about the Pharisees was not so much their hypocrisy as it was their utter lack of knowledge of how poor they actually were in the sight of God. There is always something pathetic about a man who thinks he is rich when he is actually poor, who thinks he is good when he is actually vile, who thinks he is educated when he is actually illiterate.

Prayer for the day: Might I always remember the poverty of my soul before Your love invaded my life, Lord Jesus, and I knew You as Savior.

Keys to Family Increase by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Keys to Family Increase (Part 1)

Dear Reader,

I welcome you to this exciting moment in God’s presence in Jesus’ Precious Name! Do you know that there is a life of increase in God? I am talking about increase in every area of your life and family – home, finances, business. Are you longing to experience this in your family life? Then come along with me as we delve into the Word of God this new month. May the Lord give you quick understanding.

This week, we will be looking at The Source of Increase. Our God is a God of increase, and He delights in your increase. Increase is making positive progress to satisfaction. It means where you were yesterday is not where you are supposed to be today. It means that when you assess yourself, family life, finances, they are all moving forward. I see you moving forward in every area of your life today in Jesus’ name!

There was a time that God told Moses to tell the children of Israel to go forward; not marking time on a spot. Beloved, are you going forward in your family life? Are you making satisfactory progress in your finances? Is the Word of God having positive effects in your family?

However, genuine increases can only come from God. God’s Word says: I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase (1 Corinthians. 3:6). It must come from God, if it is to last and be peaceful. Until God becomes your source of increase in your health, finances, relationships, etc;it will be short-lived. Don’t be deceived by anti covenant shortcuts. For instance, if you want increase in the area of good health for your family members, let no one deceive you to begin to look for one herbalist or the other around the corner. They have nothing to offer. Make God the source of your health. Let Him be your Jehovah-Rapha.

Anything God cannot handle, forget it; no man can. In your finances, they may tell you there is one money doubler somewhere and one get-rich-quick magician. Never listen to them; it is a trap in disguise. Even if such money comes, it flies off immediately. It is characterised by sorrows and pains. God’s Word says: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).

It is only the blessings of God that makes rich without additional sorrow. In your place of work, never seek abundance by giving or receiving bribe. Don’t alter figures to favour your pocket. That’s not the way to long-lasting peaceful increase. Let God bless you and all around you shall see it. When God is the source of your increase, He backs it up, and the increase will stand the test of time.

Look at this testimony:

God increased my salary, and made sure it was paid, unlike the salary increase announced by the Federal Government, which some workers in the country are yet to enjoy. You need to know about my financial background to appreciate what the Lord has done for me.

I am a civil servant on Grade Level 07, earning less than two thousand naira as my take-home pay every month. With a family of five, it became compulsory for me to borrow money in order to survive every month. In fact, I was indebted to the tune of 35,000 naira. As a professional, I tried everything to get a better job, but all my efforts proved abortive. But today, I give God all the glory, because He has changed my financial status from a borrower to a giver; not just a lender! He blessed me and has made me a blessing to others.

As soon as I responded to all the teachings and divine instructions from this altar and the Bible, things turned around for me financially! I discovered through the help of the Holy Spirit that as a civil servant and particularly a driver, it is possible for me to prosper. But He gave me a strong warning to do away with pride. Also, I prayed to God on behalf of my boss in the office, and God answered my prayer. He promoted my boss, and by his promotion, I was also promoted automatically. God has changed me from a civil servant to a ‘civil lord,’ because it is what I command that happens in my office now! I am now pleased and contended with my job.” – A, O.

Abundance is a covenant and covenant is a binding agreement usually between two people. In the case of abundance (Increase), it is a covenant between God and man (Deuteronomy 8:18). Furthermore, in a covenant, there are personal responsibilities which must be fulfilled on the part of the two people involved.

To have access to increase, you must be connected to God, the source of increase. If you are already born again, rejoice because your case is settled. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Open Heavens 12 August 2018 – Let Them Clean You Up

Topic: Your Help Comes from the Lord [Open Heavens 12 August 2018 Sunday Daily Devotional]

Memorise: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”- Proverb 28:13

Read: Luke 19:1-10 (KJV)

1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Bible in One Year: Job 36-38, Matthew 18:21-19:12

Open Heavens 12 August 2018 MESSAGE:

Many people will end up in hell on the last day because they refused to allow God clean up their mess now. The Bible makes it clear that the Almighty God cleanses the lives of those who are yielded to Him. In Isaiah 1:18, He made a call to all those who will listen:

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

One man who heard this call and yielded to it was Zacchaeus. Today’s Bible reading narrates how the Lord Jesus Christ cleaned up his terrible past, even though he was chief among the tax collectors. He had fraudulently and violently enriched himself with other people’s wealth. This explains why he longed to see Jesus for cleansing. When he could not reach Jesus, he climbed up a sycamore tree in order to catch a glimpse of Him, and he got what he desired. How could such a terrible man get the attention of the Most Holy One? The Lord gave him attention because He had already made this promise in Jeremiah 29:13:

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

This scripture was fulfilled in the life of Zacchaeus as it will be fulfilled in yours today. Your case will catch Jesus’ attention today and all your guilt shall be wipe away. An interesting aspect of this story is that while Zacchaeus was savoring the saving and cleansing grace of our Lord, some other people were busy murmuring that the Redeemer was ushering a lost sheep of the Father into the cleansing room of eternal life.

Another recipient of God’s cleansing was David. He caught the revelation of the cleansing grace of God, even in the dispensation of the Old Testament. In Psalm 51:2 & 7, he cried to God to purify him, saying:

“Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

Beloved, something more effective than hyssop is now available, and it is the Blood of Jesus Christ. In 1 John 1:7 & 9, the Holy Spirit said:

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

This Blood is still available for you today. Beloved, have you been involved in terrible acts which you are so ashamed of? Surrender your life to Jesus today in genuine repentance, confess your sins to Him and allow Him to clean you up with His precious Blood.

Action Point: Take every mess in your life before the throne of grace and ask God to please clean you up.

RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 12 August 2018 Lesson 50 – The Crucial Judgment

TOPIC: The Crucial Judgment [RCCG Sunday School Manual 12 August 2018]

Opening Prayer: Father, do not ever let me go back to sin, in the name of Jesus (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School Manual 12 August, 2018 Hymn)

Bible Passage: Revelation 20:11-15 (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 12 August 2018)

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

MEMORY VERSE: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”Hebrews 9:27

INTRODUCTION:
Judgment is one of the common destinies awaiting all men – Heb. 9:27. Believers and unbelievers, the young and old, the rich and poor, will all face judgment. The judgment will not be corporate but personal. As there is more than one resurrection, there is more than one judgment. Some of the judgments the Bible speak about include the believers’ self-judgment at the communion table – 1Cor. 11:29-31, the judgment of the believers at the judgment seat of Christ- 2 Cor.5:10, the judgment of the nations, Matt. 25:32, and the judgment of the unsaved at the Great white Throne, Rev. 20:11. In this lesson, our focus is on the judgment of the believers and the judgment of the unsaved.

TEXT REVIEW: REVELATION 20:11-15:
At the Great White Throne:

iv. Book of life would also be opened. Rev. 20:12a

v. Individual will be judged based on the contents of the books. Rev. 20:12a

vi. Death and hell will release their captives to be judged accordingly. Rev. 20:13

1. The judgment of the saint
2. The judgment of the sinners

THE JUDGEMENT OF THE SAINTS:

A. THE SAINTS:
Believers will no longer be judged for sin, as long as they do not go back to sin. The believers sins, which have been repented of and forsaken, have been judged in Christ at Calvary. Rom. 8:1.However, there is a judgment the believers must go through. This is the judgment of the believers works for the purpose of rewards. Matt. 16:27

B. ABOUT THE JUDGMENT:
i. The focus of the judgment: The quality of work, the motive behind every work and the level of faithfulness. 1Cor.3:113; 2Tim. 2:20; 2Cor. 5:10

ii. The candidates for the judgment- The resurrected ‘dead in Christ’and the living who remain in Christ when He comes at rapture. 1Thess.4:16-17

iii. The place of the judgment:- The judgment seat of Christ. 2Cor. 5:10

iv. The time for the judgment: After Christ’s coming at rapture, during the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Rev. 19:9; Rev. 20:1-5

C. THE RESULTS OF THE JUDGMENT:
i. Rewards and crowns for the faithful. 1 Cor. 3:14; 2 Tim. 4:7-8

ii. Losses for those whose works lack the required divine quality. 1 Cor. 3:15

This is the final judgment that will climax the end o this age. The judgment of sinners is certain. Prov.11:21.

i. The candidates for the judgment: those whose names are not in the Book of Life. Rev20:15. These include the abominable [homosexuals, lesbians, etc], all liars, sexually immoral, the friends of the world, idolaters, murderers, thieves, etc. Rev. 21:8

ii. The place of the judgment: The GreatWhite Throne. God, the impartial and all knowing God sits on the throne. Rev. 20:11

iii. The time for the judgment: After the millennial [[One thousand years], reign of Christ on earth. Rev. 20:5-6

iv. The result of judgment: sinners shall be cast into the lake of fire. Rev. 20:15; Ps. 9:17

iii. Both the sinners and the saints have a choice to make now!

CONCLUSION:
Earthly judgment can be influenced and compromised, but divine judgment cannot. It is judgment in righteousness and truth. The judgment of both the saints and the sinners is certain. Gal. 6:7-8

CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, do not allow to turn my back at you. Let me follow you to the end.

ASSIGNMENT:
Use five (5) points to differentiate between the earthly judgment and the judgment of the sinners.

John Gray Compares Trump Meeting to Jesus’ Visit With Tax Collector Zacchaeus and Lepers

(Screenshot: Twitter/@realDonaldTrump)President Donald Trump speaks with a group of black Christian leaders at the White House on Aug. 1, 2018. He is seated next to megachurch pastor John Gray (L) and Alveda King (R).

Pastor John Gray responded to a critic on social media this week by comparing his recent roundtable meeting with President Donald Trump to Jesus’ meeting with a hated tax collector.

On Wednesday, the pastor of Relentless Church in Greenville, South Carolina, responded to a fellow African-American pastor on Instagram after he criticized Gray and a group of about 20 other black pastors for meeting with Trump last Wednesday at the White House to discuss issues related to prison reform and urban job creation.

Pastor Keith McQueen, who founded Powerhouse Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, wrote that he “can’t respect” Gray’s decision to “condone the behavior of an egotistical, misogynistic, narcissistic clown that has turned our country into a circus with his quarrelsome and divisive rants.”

McQueen further argued that Gray, who previously served as associate pastor at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, “has affirmed the behavior of this man by sitting at the table to ‘discuss’ prison reform and urban revitalization with a man that has never cared…

Church of Scotland minister says sorry for ‘hurt’ at LGBT event

Rev Scott Burton from Matthew’s Church in Perth delivered an address on Saturday afternoon at the city’s first ever Perthshire Pride event which celebrates LGBT identities.

He was quoted by Dundee-based The Courier newspaper as saying: “I am absolutely over the moon to be invited to open this fabulous occasion, it is an incredible honour.
