Raymond Kethledge, a judge for the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, would be the sole evangelical Christian on the Supreme Court. Kethledge, 51, also would break the Ivy League mold (as would Barrett). Raised in Michigan, he earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan. He currently lives in the Great Lakes State and has said he writes his opinions in a rustic barn office overlooking Lake Huron with no internet, no cell phone reception and a wood stove for heat.
Among his decisions is Acosta v. Cathedral Buffet, Inc., which concerned a buffet restaurant owned and operated by Grace Cathedral Church, whose president is Ohio televangelist Ernest Angley. Angley was accustomed to recruiting volunteers from the pulpit to work at the buffet, a for-profit enterprise — a practice the Labor Department said violated minimum wage requirements.
The appeals court found that the volunteers weren’t underpaid because they didn’t expect to be: rather, they were happy to do God’s work. “The Department seeks to regulate spiritual conduct qua spiritual conduct, and to impose significant liability as a result,” Kethledge wrote in his concurrence with the decision. He cautioned that no government bureaucrat can make spiritual judgments about what motivated the churchgoers to do the work.

The Archdiocese claimed the incident happened after Canon Tom White was meeting and greeting parishioners on Saturday evening after Mass at St Alphonsus Church.
It said it all started right as the parade came by.
“Police – who had been guarding the church – were called away to deal with another nearby incident leaving the priest and parishioners defenceless,” the Archdiocese posted in a statement on Facebook.
“Canon White and parishioners were subjected to vile abuse … ‘Fenian b*****d’ being the most typical.
“The priest was spat upon. Spittle landed on the back of his head. He wiped it away. Another mouthful of thick spittle was spat into his eye socket. Again he wiped it away leaving his hand full of the vile liquid.
“He was then further insulted and lunged at by a man carrying a pole before police arrived to restore some kind of order.”
The Archdiocese questioned the integrity of the Orange Order marches.
“Why is the Orange Order still allowed to schedule its intimidating parades on streets containing Catholic Churches at times when people are trying to get in and out for Mass?,” it asked.
The Church also said: “What kind of society is it that allows ministers of religion and church-goers to be intimidated and attacked by a group which has a long history of fomenting fear and anxiety on city streets?”

The second phase is underway in the rescue of eight boys and their coach trapped in a cave in northern Thailand. Divers resumed their work around midnight ET; Reuters is reporting that one person has already been brought from the cave this morning. The operation is expected to last several hours.
A team of ninety expert divers–forty from Thailand and fifty from other countries–has been working in the cave system. The process includes walking, wading, climbing, and diving along guide ropes already in place.
As oxygen levels in the cave continued to drop and monsoon rains threatened to flood the cave system, the first efforts to rescue the boys began over the weekend. Thirteen specialist divers and five Thai Navy SEALs descended into the watery network of underground tunnels.
They rescued four boys, each of whom wore a full-face mask attached to an air bottle. Two divers accompanied each boy, one carrying his air supply. About halfway through the ordeal, they had to navigate a section called “T-Junction.” It is so tight that divers must remove their air tanks to get through.
The escape route is extremely dangerous. A former Thai Navy SEAL, thirty-eight-year-old Saman Gunan, died last Friday while trying to reach the group with oxygen.
Christians around the world have been praying for the boys and their coach. Now we must intercede for the divers as well. Each of them is risking his life to rescue someone he did not know before the ordeal began.

Courage is the need of the hour.
Few of us will ever risk our lives to rescue someone trapped in a cave. But serving Jesus in our post-Christian culture requires courage on a level unprecedented in my lifetime.

Bieber, 24, and Christian model Hailey Baldwin, 21, who have been in relationship for around one month, became engaged in the Bahamas on Saturday night.
Baldwin’s father – Christian actor Stephen Baldwin – appeared to confirm the news in a tweet, before swiftly deleting it.
In the now-deleted tweet, Stephen wrote: “Sweet smile on my face! me&wife (Kennya) Always pray 4 Gods will!!
“He is moving in the hearts of JB&HB. Let’s all pray for His will to be done. Love you 2 so much!!! #Godstiming #bestisyettocome.”

Dr David Mackereth claimed he has been deemed “unfit” to work as an assessor at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) over his view that gender is defined by God.
Concerned other professionals could be dismissed for holding such views, the 55-year-old father-of-four told the Sunday Telegraph: “I’m not attacking the transgender movement.
“But, I’m defending my right to freedom of speech, and freedom of belief.”
Dr Mackereth, who had a 26-year career as an NHS doctor, began training in May this year to become a health and disability assessor at the DWP.
The Reformed Baptist from Dudley reported that he was taken aside after questioning his instructor’s teaching that said patients should be referred to according to the gender they identified as.
He continued: “I said that I had a problem with this. I believe that gender is defined by biology and genetics. And that as a Christian the Bible teaches us that God made humans male or female.
“I could have kept my mouth shut. But, it was the right time to raise it.”
Dr Mackereth subsequently received an email from the agency that employed him and would have contracted his services out to the DWP, saying such an attitude could be considered harassment under the 2010 Equality Act. He was invited to undergo further training.

Yes, I tend to be an optimist.
I am not, however, that type of optimist who refuses to face reality. If you have been a reader of my blog or listener to my podcasts, you know I am not hesitant to face harsh realities head on.
So, when I say a revitalization wave is about to come to our churches, I am serious about it. Indeed, I am obnoxiously optimistic about the future of congregations. In this post, I will address how churches will be impacted from a high-level perspective. In my post on Wednesday, I will share why I see this major trend on the horizon.
First, let’s agree there are 350,000 churches in North America. You can quibble with our estimates. Some say less; some say more. The exact number is not that important.
Second, let’s also agree there are 300,000, or 85%, of all churches needing some level of revitalization, from modest to radical revitalization. Bear with me until my Wednesday post where I make my case for these numbers.
So, how will these 300,000 churches in need of revitalization be impacted by the wave that is coming? Let’s look at three major categories.

The MESSAGE:
Our God is a great God. He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. He has solutions to all problems before they even started. This is the account of a pleasant and well located city, the city of Palms, Jericho, but its water (the very source of life) was bad. Water which is one of the most important substances that sustain life was bad in this city. The bad water had caused death and barrenness, so it was useless using it. The inhabitants of the city came to the prophet of God to seek deliverance for the city. They must have faced terrible hardship living in the city. The step of action the inhabitants took brought about deliverance for the land. God always has a solution.
Are you going through a similar situation in your life? Are you facing opposites, evil twin of good and bad taking place at the same time? Good education but no job, rich but sick, wonderful couple but no child, beautiful and at the right age for marriage but no husband? The good news is that we have a God who cares; if we apply His principles, there shall be solution.
Elisha, the prophet of God, asked them to bring salt and a new vessel. First, understand that you are vessels in the house of God. Deliverance is made easy when you are born again. Become a new vessel, thereby receiving a new source for your life through Jesus. Second, Elisha used salt, a preservative to heal the water at its source. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). Your life must impact people who are around you positively. You must evangelise. Through you, people must be lifted, encouraged and blessed. This is the quick formula for getting out of the bitter-water situation.
As you go about doing good and also committed to the things of God, you will be anointed (Acts 10:38) and the anointing will destroy the yoke (Isaiah 10:27) of evil twin. Therefore, quickly surrender your life to Jesus, be sure you are born again, and go preach the gospel. You shall receive your miracles, in Jesus’ name.

Text: Psalms 101:1-8 (KJV)
Key Verse: “I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing” (Psalms 101:1)
MESSAGE:
Music is said to be food for the soul. It plays a vital role and has a controlling effect on one’s life. The music one sings and listens to could control one’s personality, yet not all musics appeal.
The psalmist understood the importance of music to man; hence, he took a balanced and godly decision on the song that mattered to him. His resolve was to have his songs focused on God and His righteousness to set the direction of his life. He knew it will be inconsistent to sing righteous songs and then do things that are ungodly.
One of the blessings of singing godly music is that it governs our thoughts and keeps us from sin. Holy songs encourage a perfect walk with God. It inspires the singer to redouble his efforts to walk blamelessly before God in everything he does. A Christian is identified by the music he listens to. He does not delight in worldly music that glorify the devil and gratify the flesh. Christians should only listen to music that honour God and have powerful impact on not only the singer, but also on the listener.
Lewd lyrics and ungodly music appeal to the fancies of the world, which is ready to impose them on others. These should be off limits to heaven-bound souls. A child of God must always sing and proclaim convicting songs. One can witness through singing sobering Christian music that attract sinners to listen to the gospel. It draws the listener to carefully consider the words and enables the Holy Spirit do His work in the listener’s heart, bringing him to conversion.
Thought For The Day: Glorious music is the tonic of the soul.

Thought For The Day: When God wants to save people, He opens the door of Ministry and kingdom missions.
In the beginning, God created man in His Image, placed him in the Garden of Eden and entrusted him with authority and dominion to rule the earth. However, the devil, having fallen from heaven, became jealous of man and made man to lose his place in God through sin.
But God in His infinite mercy sent Jesus, His only begotten Son to die for our sins in order to restore man to God. So, whoever believes in Jesus Christ should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
This is possible by the preaching of the gospel of Christ. The preaching of the gospel is the Power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). When God wants to save people, He opens the door of Ministry and Kingdom missions.
The door of Ministry and Kingdom missions refers to the opportunities for soul winning, rescue of souls and invasion of territories for God. It is the door of impact, territorial takeover and Kingdom expansion. The people whose hearts were previously hardened and lands that were previously closed would begin to open up; opportunities to impact lives for God would abound when this door opens.
The opening of this door gives you access to impact your generation, community, organization or even your family for God.
The opening of this door is marked by the influx of souls into the kingdom of God.
Beloved, make up your mind to impact lives for God in your generation by the power of the gospel.
Remember this: When God wants to save people, He opens the door of Ministry and kingdom missions.

1. Be actively involved in the soul winning mandate; set a vision of wining at least a soul per week.
2. Distribute evangelism materials like tracts, Seeds of Destiny Devotional, books and CDs to impact lives positively for God.
