TREM Devotional 19 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Don’t Stop Speaking

Topic: Don’t Stop Speaking [TREM Devotional Tuesday June 19, 2018]

“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.” Proverbs 18:20

Beloved, there is something about speaking to yourself every day. Therefore, develop the habit of waking up in the morning and declaring abundance to yourself and over your life. Look at yourself in the mirror and declare that this man is going somewhere. Declare to yourself that whatsoever you touch will increase. Declare to yourself that doors are going to open unto you. Declare that favour is attending your way.

The woman with the issue of blood spoke to herself. For she said, “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” (Mark 5:28 KJV) She was saying in effect “I am no more dying, I will live”. That was why she was not bothered whether Jesus saw her or not. As far as she was concerned, it was not about Jesus touching her. She just wanted to get there and touch Him. And as she was speaking to herself, strength was coming upon her.

Blind Bartimaeus said “I will no longer be a beggar.” They tried to shut him down, he said “you can no longer shut me down, I am tired of begging”. I will no longer be a beggar. My status must change because no one encounters Jesus and remains the same. So, he cried out to Jesus. When they told him to keep quiet, he could have listened and then complain later. He could have withdrawn into his shell, saying he does not want to be embarrassed. But he knew that neither of the two actions will result in his testimony. I am sure he said to himself: I have been blind for too long to be embarrassed by it. He threw caution to the wind, and not only spoke, he shouted. His shout drew the attention of Jesus.

As you keep speaking, I declare that you will draw the attention of heaven. Your heart’s desires shall come to pass. God will honour your faith and exceed your expectations in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens 19 June 2018 – Deep Thoughts, Deep Thanks

Topic: Deep Thoughts, Deep Thanks [Open Heavens 19th June 2018, Tuesday Daily Devotional]

Memorise: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: – Psalm 103:2

Read: Psalm 103:1-5 (KJV)

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Bible in One Year: 2 Kings 19-20, Acts 13:26-47

MESSAGE:

There is a wise saying in my native language which says, “If you don’t know how to think of God’s goodness, you are not likely to know how to give Him thanks.” Thinking about God’s goodness is one great attitude we need to learn from today’s Bible reading. In this passage of Scripture, David preached to himself on the need to praise, worship, thank and reverence God. He also outlined some of the reasons why he needed to be thankful. I believe we should emulate David’s attitude and borrow from his list of reasons to be thankful.

On his list of reasons to be thankful, David first considered the forgiveness of his sins. We so often take the blessing of forgiveness of sins for granted, but we need to remember that it is because of the Lord’s graciousness and mercy that He chooses to forgive our sins. It is not difficult to simply say “Lord I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins.” We also need to remember and be thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ is still engaged in intercessory prayers for us continually (Romans 8:34).

The next thing David mentioned on his list is the blessing of healing. The doctors often use a slogan that reads: “We care, God heals”. Who then besides God should take the glory? David also mentioned deliverance from destruction. We all know that evil pervades the world we live in; it’s only the mercy of God that keeps His children from harm. Do you thank Him for this? What about His lovingkindness: a kindness that is not ordinary but full of love? What about His tender mercies: mercy that is affectionate and adds no sorrow? Do you thank Him for the food you eat? He satisfies your mouth with good things so that you are energised to go about your daily tasks, and He renews your strength like that of the eagle. Do you thank Him for all these?

Beloved, be sincere with yourself today. Do you think you are grateful to this Great Father who has been sustaining you physically and spiritually? You have walked in the valley of the shadow of death several times and He has kept you. You have been tempted severally but you escaped the net of the devil and his agents. Take a look around you and count your blessings; name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done. It is expedient for you to spend quality time in God’s presence today to worship Him like never before. However, let this not be a one-off event in your life; ensure you sustain a habit of thanksgiving from today.

Action Point: Withdraw to a private place and worship God like never before.

Hymn 1: Now Thank We All Our God

1. Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices,
Who from our mother’s arms
Hath bless’d us on our way
With countless gifts of love
And still is ours today.

2. Oh may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in His grace,
And guide us when perplex’d
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next

3. All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Spirit blest,
Who reign in highest heaven,
The One eternal God,
Whom earth and heav’n adore,
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

Russia & Egypt Match at World Cup Could Test Countries’ Close Ties – Urban Christian News

Not since the Cold War days of the 1950s and 1960s has Egypt been as close to Russia as it is now.

But could the outcome of a crucial World Cup clash between the two nations damage their relations?

Probably not, but as is frequently the case with soccer, Tuesday’s game in St. Petersburg — home to most of the 224 victims of a 2015 Russian plane crash over Egypt — might test these ties given how high the stakes are.

For Egypt, a draw or a win is crucial to keep alive its hopes of advancing from the group after it lost its opening match 1-0 to Uruguay on Friday. A loss would leave the Egyptians with a mathematical chance of survival.

The Russians are in better shape. They thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 on Thursday and will be looking for maximum points from the Egypt game, which could ensure progression before their final group game against Uruguay on June 25.

The Russians, the lowest FIFA ranked team in the 32-nation tournament, will be riding high from being on home territory and will want to prove that their emphatic win over the Saudis wasn’t a fluke. The Egyptians, on the other hand, will be striving not to lose two consecutive games in their first World Cup campaign in 28 years and disappoint millions of fans at home.

Thousands of Egyptian fans, some flying to St. Petersburg on private jets, are expected to be at the stadium Tuesday rubbing shoulders with Russian fans.

But Egypt’s social media users and influential talk show anchors are notorious for harming their country’s relations with foreign nations, including close allies and major economic benefactors. Their…

Russian Lawmaker Wants to Ban ‘Mockery’ of National Soccer Team – Urban Christian News

A conservative legislator in Russia says he wants to ban “mockery” of the national soccer team because the players are “fighting for the honor of our country.”

Vitaly Milonov told The Associated Press on Monday that soccer players and their coach should be considered like “our diplomats, our army,” notably during the World Cup that Russia is currently hosting.

The national team — and especially its coach — were the butt of widespread jokes and a popular parody song leading up to the tournament.

Milonov is part of a group of Russian lawmakers in the State Duma who drafted a bill imposing a fine of 10,000 rubles ($160) against anyone who criticizes the team. Milonov is best-known as the author of Russia’s law against gay “propaganda” toward minors.

“During the World Cup these people are fighting for the honor of the country,” he said in an interview in his hometown of St. Petersburg four days after Russia thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 to open the World Cup. “It’s the responsibility of the state to defend its representatives from verbal abuse.”

“This is not just about football. This is about our national identity,” he said. Milonov said that the bill is directed exactly against “very brazen, ugly, fake and dirty” insulting comments regarding the Russian national team, and not casual jokes.

While Milonov is from the dominant pro-Kremlin party, it’s unclear whether the bill would win enough Duma support to become law.

Fans have mixed feelings.

“I think it’s harmful to move in such direction. It may finally lead to the situation when it won’t…

Former Mexico President Vicente Fox Joins Board of Marijuana Publication High Times – Urban Christian News

Former Mexico President Vicente Fox, who calls himself a soldier in the global campaign to legalize marijuana, is joining the board of directors of venerable cannabis publication High Times to advance his agenda.

Speaking with The Associated Press about his views on cannabis and his new appointment, Fox said he foresees a day when a robust legal marketplace will produce new jobs and medicines while sharply reducing cartel violence in his home country.

He also sees pot being part of the North American Free Trade Agreement among Mexico, Canada and the U.S., where some 30 states are embracing legalized marijuana in some form.

Fox’s appointment to the magazine’s board points to the growing acceptance of the once-scorned industry. Earlier this year, former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, an Ohio Republican, reversed his long-held position against legalization and became an adviser to a cannabis company.

WHY GO LEGAL?

Reason one, Fox says, is freedom, “which is maybe the highest value that human beings have.”

“I don’t think that governments will ever have the capacity to impose behaviors, to impose conduct, to human beings. At the very end, prohibitions don’t work. What works is your own free decision.”

Then, it’s history. “The war on drugs has been a total failure” since the days of former President Richard Nixon, Fox concludes.

Fox also cites the experience in Mexico, where tens of thousands of killings have been attributed to drug violence.

The trend toward legalization “is moving out of a crime activity, a criminal activity that causes death and blood on the…

Man Completes 150-Mile Personal Prayer Walk, Says World’s Greatest Tragedy Is ‘Un-offered Prayer’

(Photo: Facebook)Tony Thornton (R) on his walking mission trip in Bossier City, La.

A Louisiana man who walked approximately 150 miles over seven days offering prayer and uplifting conversation to those who would have it says he believes the world’s greatest tragedy is “un-offered prayer.”

“Man what a journey. God has sustained me every day to get to this day,” the praying father Tony Thornton, a member of First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, declared on Facebook at the end of his mission on Sunday before going on to thank God and everyone who helped him complete his mission.

“I want to thank God first because he is the only reason I finished. Second my wife and kids for being my support crew during the day and the recovery crew when I got home,” he said.

Thornton told KSLA that he got the idea for his personal mission trip while sitting in church one Sunday.

“I’m sitting in church one Sunday and go, ‘you don’t have to go 1,000…

Penn. Local Council Rejects Multi-Site Church’s Request to Move Into Former Grocery Store

(Photo: Facebook/Monroeville Assembly of God)Worship held at Monroeville Assembly of God, in Pennsylvania.

A Pennsylvania municipality has voted down a rezoning request from a multi-site church to develop a former grocery store building.

The Penn Hills Council voted 4-1 earlier this month to reject the Monroeville Assembly of God’s application to develop the former Bottom Dollar grocery into a new campus for both worship and charity events.

Rejection of the application came from a belief that the building should remain available for commercial use, for even when unused it generates $40,000 in annual taxes, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Mayor Sara Kuhn, one of the Council members to vote no, told Monroeville Lead Pastor Lance Lecocq during a meeting that the grocery building “is difficult for us to give up.”

“You chose the heart of the Penn Hills business district. We appreciate the services the church could provide, but we have to put…

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 19 June 2018 – A Miracle Inside You

Topic: A Miracle Inside You [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Tuesday June 19, 2018]

Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. – Zechariah 4:6

I remember the first time I went with the Oral Roberts crusade team to a healing meeting. I was a student and a member of his aircraft crew. I had been a believer a little over four years and knew so little about the things of God, especially meetings like these. However, I was part of the team and eager to learn.

I followed the team inside this huge auditorium. It was filled with sick people. The place smelled, it was so full of disease. Just walking in there sent chills of fear up my spine.

I turned around and headed for the side door as fast as I could, talking to God under my breath. “Listen, I don’t belong here,” I told Him. “I’m getting on a Greyhound bus and heading home right now. They can get that airplane home without me.”

Once I was outside the door, I started talking louder. Then suddenly, I froze. My feet wouldn’t move. I knew it was God who’d stopped me because, inside, I was still on my way to the bus station. But outside, I was stuck to the sidewalk.

I looked up and hollered, “Turn me loose!” But I couldn’t move.

Desperately, I prayed, Please, let me go! I don’t have anything for those people.

That’s when God spoke back to me. Every cell in me heard it. He said, I know you don’t have anything to give them. But I do and that’s why I baptized you in My Spirit.

My feet suddenly turned loose and I knew I had a choice. One was life and one was death. So I turned around and went back.

I was ready to run. But God stopped me. He knew He was in me, and if I’d just stay and stir up what was in me, miracles would happen—and they did.

You have that same miracle-working God inside you. And there are people all around you who need Him. So quit waiting to feel like you have the power to do it and get out there. Once you do, you’ll discover that the power you’ve been waiting on has been right there inside you all the time…waiting on you!

Laura Bush, Beth Moore, and Others Condemn New Immigration Policy

Laura Bush, Beth Moore, and Others Condemn New Immigration Policy

Author and preacher Beth Moore says a new immigration policy that separates children from their parents if they are caught illegally crossing the border is “wrong.”

“Jesus loves the little children. Every wrong performed against them He takes personally,” adding Matthew 18:10, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven,” Moore wrote on her Twitter page.

“It’s the responsibility of the people of Jesus to take the stand of Jesus. Always. Despite the cost. We plant our feet where He’d plant His. The Gospels reveal what He was like. Our job in this world is to be like Him in this world. Social Justice Warriors? No. Actual CHRISTIANS.”

Moore’s comments come after Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a directive to separate the children from their parents if they are caught. Reports have said thousands of children have been taken from their parents because of the directive.

According to a report released by the government, some 1,995 children have been separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border between April 19 and May 31. The “zero tolerance” policy was announced in May by Sessions.

Former first lady Laura Bush also released a statementabout the policy, saying it was “cruel” and “immoral.”

“I live in a border state. I…

Soul Survivor raises more than £1.7m for new building

The founder of the church that Soul Survivor and the Naturally Supernatural festivals grew from led a campaign alongside senior pastor Andy Croft to raise funds to have more space for worshippers.

In a video released before Sunday’s gift day, the co-pastors said the current building in Warehouse 5 felt “claustrophobic” and left newcomers questioning “whether there was room for them”.

Speaking on Sunday morning in the special service which saw the children join in with praise and worship, Pilavachi said the large number of children struggling to fit in the front of the church illustrated why another building is needed.

Attendance of children has increased 20 per cent each year for the last three years, with an average of 150 attending Sunday morning services. According to the website, the church is sometimes forced to turn families away – which are often those that are newcomers.

The plan is to demolish Warehouse 5 and build a new, better designed space that will accommodate a lot more people.

Soul Survivor

The total estimated cost – including architects’ fees and fitting out the building is £5.1m.
