TREM Devotional 17 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Position Yourself For Increase

Topic: Position Yourself For Increase [TREM Devotional Sunday June 17, 2018]

“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.” Proverbs 11:24

God wants you to enjoy increase and abundance, but you must be positioned to receive. Develop the habit of quick response to the payment of your vows. Don’t make vows that you do not intend to redeem. Take a quality decision to always give your best in your offering. Give proportionately to how much He has blessed you. Honour Him in your offering. Why should you come to church and you are unable to give God a quality offering. Quality is not about what you gave, but what you have left. If you cannot give God a quality offering, it shows that you placed no value on Christ.

It is so true that where your treasure is, there your heart is also. God saved you and brought you into the Kingdom of abundance. That is your abode! That is your home. Now if you are in the kingdom and you are suffering, it is not God’s fault. God has made all things available to you. Indeed, all things are yours, but you must be rightly positioned. I believe that the widow of Zarephath to whom God sent prophet Elijah was a giver. That was why the man of God told her what to do and she did not argue. If you do not have the heart of a giver, you will argue every instruction to give.

God so loved the world that He gave. If you love God, give to Him. If you love Him, sow into His kingdom. No one, including students, should come into His church and say: “I don’t have anything to give”, you go home and you are happy. If you are a student and you have pocket money, give tithe from it and give offering from it. Practise giving from now because God is building you up to become a billionaire. How can you get there when you are already holding back from God? You must learn it from now.

DCLM Daily Manna 17 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Worthy Of Praise

Topic: Worthy Of Praise [DCLM Daily Manna Sunday June 17, 2018]

Text: Matthew 2:1-15 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and …they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11).

MESSAGE:

C.H. Spurgeon, taking a stroll with a friend, noticed a weather vane, which had the inscription “God is love”. Spurgeon remarked to his friend that he did not consider a constantly changing vane appropriate for advertising a very constant and unchanging love of God. “I don’t agree with you, Charles” replied his friend. “You misconstrue the meaning. What the weather vane is telling us is that whichever way the wind blows, God is love”.

The love of God, from the beginning, has no boundaries. “God so loved the world…” (John 3:16). There was a prophecy that from Bethlehem in the land of Judah, a governor that would rule Israel shall come and cannot be disputed. Still His coming was revealed not to wise men in Jerusalem but to wise men (philosophers) in the east. And these men showed Israel how to honour a king. When they heard of the news of His birth, they set out on a long journey to see and worship. The key verse in the text captures the demonstration of their wisdom in recognising divinity personified in the Infant in a lowly manger.

The visit of the Magi to the baby Jesus presents a lot of lessons to believers and to unbelievers alike. Many believers complain through life, rather than daily enter His court with thanksgiving (Psalm 100: 1,2). Ingratitude attracts divine disapproval and shuts heaven’s open door. God’s gracious works in our lives, such as our manifold redemption, deliverance from all evil and sanctification among others, should spur our hearts to constantly lift up His name.

Unbelievers should learn that Jesus is the King of kings, Saviour and Redeemer who has paid the price of sin for the whole world. All they need to do is repent, confess and forsake their sins and join the happy saints in joyful adoration of God’s name.

Thought For The Day: Praise decorates humanity.

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 17 June 2018 – Open Their Eyes to the Light

Topic: Open Their Eyes to the Light [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Sunday June 17, 2018]

If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

Since God doesn’t save anyone against their will, does it really do any good to pray for people who consciously refuse to receive Jesus as Lord?

Yes. Yes! Yes! It does!

You see, in spite of the fact that most all unbelievers who have purposely refused to receive Jesus as Lord think they’ve made that decision of their own free will, the truth is, they haven’t. The Word of God says they’ve been blinded by Satan. He’s blocking their perception of the truth. So their decision hasn’t been freely made at all.

That’s important for you to grasp. Because through the prayer of intercession, you can interfere with the satanic forces and help take those blinders off! You can also change circumstances with your prayers and help create situations that will bring them in contact with the Lord. You’re well within your spiritual rights when you do that.

I prayed with a friend of mine once who’d been praying for his lost brother for years. Jesus said in Matthew 12:29 to first bind the strong man and then enter his house and spoil his goods. So we said, “You spirit blinding the eyes of __________, you stop what you are doing to keep him out of the kingdom of God. In Jesus’ Name, you stop now!”

Jesus also said in Matthew 9:38, “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” So we prayed, “Lord, send someone to ______________ with the Word of God. You know who he will listen to. We claim __________________ for the kingdom of God. We believe we receive his salvation and deliverance. In faith we praise You for it.”

In almost no time at all his brother called him. “What have you been doing up there?” he asked. “In the past few days, everyone I’ve come across has started preaching to me!”

Our prayers had interfered with the forces Satan had been using to blind this man to Jesus and created the circumstances to bring him into the kingdom. Sure enough, within a few days, he was born again.

Use this same prayer for your loved ones and believe when you pray and you’ll see the same results.

Don’t sit by and let the devil take your friends and loved ones without a fight. Pray. Pray! Pray! Come against the “god of this world.” Take off the blinders and open their eyes to the glorious gospel of God.

Our Daily Bread Devotional 17 June 2018 – Our Safe Place

Topic: Our Safe Place [Our Daily Bread 17 Sunday June, 2018]

Read: Psalm 91, Bible in a Year: Nehemiah 7–9; Acts 3

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2

My very first job was at a fast-food restaurant. One Saturday evening, a guy kept hanging around, asking when I got out of work. It made me feel uneasy. As the hour grew later, he ordered fries, then a drink, so the manager wouldn’t kick him out. Though I didn’t live far, I was scared to walk home alone through a couple of dark parking lots and a stretch through a sandy field. Finally, at midnight, I went in the office to make a phone call.

And the person who answered—my dad—without a second thought got out of a warm bed and five minutes later was there to take me home.

The kind of certainty I had that my dad would come to help me that night reminds me of the assurance we read about in Psalm 91. Our Father in heaven is always with us, protecting and caring for us when we are confused or afraid or in need. He declares: “When they call on me, I will answer” (Psalm 91:15 nlt). He is not just a place we can run to for safety. He is our shelter (v. 1). He is the Rock we can cling to for refuge (v. 2).

In times of fear, danger, or uncertainty, we can trust God’s promise that when we call on Him, He will hear and be with us in our trouble (vv. 14–15). God is our safe place.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for being my Rock and my safe place.

The living God will always be our shelter.

Andrew Wommack’s Devotional 17 June 2018 – Sonship Or Slavery

Topic: Sonship Or Slavery [Andrew Wommack Sunday June 17, 2018]

John 8:34 “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

Text: John 8:34-36

The devil has been deceiving the world about sin since the Garden of Eden when he told Eve that through sin she could be like God. Time has proven, not only to Eve, but to each one of us, that this is not true. Sin brings death and not life. Jesus is making it clear that sin enslaves. We become slaves not only to the sin itself, but also to the author of sin, the devil. We are either servants of God through obedience or servants of the devil through sin.

Jesus is likening the bondage that sin produces to slavery, while comparing the freedom that comes through serving God to being a beloved son. No one would doubt that being a son is better than being a slave. Likewise, obeying God is better than yielding to sin. True freedom is found only in serving God. There is a false freedom that Satan has been promoting since the Garden of Eden. He has deceived all of us at one time or another into thinking that God is a tyrant who really doesn’t want us to enjoy life and consequently has told us not to do certain things. Because we believe this lie, we disobey God (or sin) in the name of freedom.

However, the Word of God and personal experience conclusively prove that the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). Jesus is stripping sin of any glamour with which the devil may disguise it. Sin brings bondage. The only true freedom is found in Jesus. Jesus not only dealt with the original sin that contaminated the human race, but He also dealt with each individual act of sin. Even if an individual could stop all sinning, he could not change his sin nature with which he was born. That’s the reason we must be born again.

Fighting Rages Around Airport in Yemen Port City of Hodeida – Urban Christian News

Saudi-led forces fought to retake the international airport of Yemen’s rebel-held port city of Hodeida, Yemeni officials and witnesses said on Saturday, as their Shiite Houthi rebel rivals denied the coalition had seized the facility that is the starving nation’s main gateway for food shipments.

With battles raging at the southern side of Hodeida International Airport, the military of Yemen’s exiled government said it had entirely seized the compound, and that engineers were working to clear mines from nearby areas just south of the city of some 600,000 people on the Red Sea.

“The armed forces which are supported by the Arab coalition have freed Hodeida International Airport from the Houthi militias and the engineering teams have started to clear the airport and its surroundings from mines and bombs,” the military said on its official Twitter account.

Sadek Dawad, spokesman of the Republican Guards force loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, said government forces had battled their way onto the airport’s grounds.

Dawad also said the southern gate of Hodeida city was captured by pro-coalition forces.

“The military operations to liberate the city of Hodeida will not be stopped until we secure the city and its strategic port and that won’t last too long,” he told The Associated Press.

Houthi-linked civil aviation authorities, however, denied that their rivals of the Saudi-led coalition and Yemeni forces have taken control of Hodeida’s airport.

A statement posted Saturday on the Houthis’ official news agency, SABA, quoted Ahmed Taresh, the head of Hodeida airport, as…

Glasgow School of Art Badly Damaged by a 2nd Fire in 4 Years – Urban Christian News

Glasgow has suffered a major blow as a second severe fire in four years has gutted the historic Glasgow School of Art, one of the Scottish city’s most beloved cultural treasures.

Fire officials said Saturday the fire was mostly under control and that there seemed to be no casualties, but said that every floor of the historic building at the heart of the city center was damaged.

The cause of the fire has not been established. It came near the end of a multimillion pound (dollar) project to restore the building to its former glory after a 2014 fire.

Now the rebuilding project will have to start again — if the structure is still sound enough.

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the government is ready to provide “any support that may be required” in the aftermath of the blaze.

“This is a very sad morning in the city of Glasgow,” she said. “Glasgow School of Art is an institution that is loved not just by its students, staff and the people of this city, but by many around the world.”

The arts school building, known as the Mackintosh Building, was designed by celebrated Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and built between 1897 and 1909.

It was regarded as his masterpiece, and officials had spared no expense in the restoration that began after the 2014 fire.

Sam Patterson, vice president of the Glasgow Institute of Architects, said the spread of the fire throughout the entire building would make any restoration effort extremely difficult.

“It’s difficult really to say much until there’s an evaluation or report on the building. But certainly…

Illegal Industry Prompts Plans in South Africa for Rehabilitation Center for Pangolins – Urban Christian News

Monitored by a conservationist, a young pangolin slurped ants with a long tongue near a veterinary hospital that became a temporary home after the animal was found near the body of its mother, killed by a jolt from an electric fence. The six-month-old scaly anteater foraged on a hillside, building up strength in a tiny step for a campaign to save one of the world’s most heavily trafficked mammals.

Traffickers often sell the pangolin meat locally and ship the scales for use in traditional medicine in Asia, mainly China. The growing illegal industry has prompted plans in South Africa for a rehabilitation center for sick or rescued pangolins as well as the deployment of sniffer dogs specially trained to detect the scales’ pungent aroma.

Africa’s four species of pangolins are under increasing pressure from poachers because Asia’s four species have been decimated, according to experts. While commercial trade in all eight species is forbidden, international confiscations of African pangolin scales amounted to about 47 tons in 2017, more than double the quantity seized in the previous year, said the African Pangolin Working Group , a conservation organization based in South Africa.

“The rate of escalation is astounding,” said Eric Ichikowitz, director of a South African foundation.

The Ichikowitz Family Foundation , which has previously trained dogs to detect rhino horn, has funded the training of several dogs that will check for hidden pangolin scales at South African borders, Ichikowitz said.

The foundation has also acquired land near Johannesburg for construction of a…

China Raises Tariffs on US Soybeans, Electric Cars, & Fish – Urban Christian News

China fired back Saturday in a spiraling trade dispute with President Donald Trump by raising import duties on a $34 billion list of American goods including soybeans, electric cars and whiskey.

The government said it was responding in “equal scale” to Trump’s tariff hike on Chinese goods in a conflict over Beijing’s trade surplus and technology policy that companies worry could quickly escalate and chill global economic growth.

China “doesn’t want a trade war” but has to “fight back strongly,” said a Commerce Ministry statement. It said Beijing also was scrapping agreements to narrow its multibillion-dollar trade surplus with the United States by purchasing more American farm goods, natural gas and other products.

The United States and China have the world’s biggest trading relationship but official ties are increasingly strained over complaints Beijing’s industry development tactics violate its free-trade pledges and hurt American companies. Europe, Japan and other trading partners raise similar complaints, but Trump has been unusually direct about challenging Beijing and threatening to disrupt such a large volume of exports.

“In this trade war, it’s the U.S. who is playing the role of provocateur, while China plays defense,” said the Global Times, a newspaper published by the ruling Communist Party. “China is a powerful guardian and has enough ammunition to defend existing trade rules and fairness.”

Beijing will impose an additional 25 percent tariff starting July 6 on 545 products from the United States including soybeans, electric cars, orange…

Pakistan Calls Killing of Taliban Leader ‘Significant Development in the Fight Against Terrorism’ – Urban Christian News

Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk described the killing of Pakistan Taliban chief Mullah Fazlullah in a U.S. drone strike in Afghanistan as a “significant development in the fight against terrorism.”

Mulk made the comment in a telephone conversation Friday night with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and thanked him for sharing information about Fazlullah’s killing, said a Pakistan government statement.

The call was initiated by Ghani, who tweeted that Fazlullah’s killing was “the result of tireless human intel by Afghan security agencies.”

A U.S. official said the U.S. believes that it is likely the strike killed Fazlullah, but efforts are ongoing to confirm his death. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss preliminary information.

In his tweet, Ghani said he also called Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa. In both conversations Ghani said he urged Pakistan “to take practical steps to bring Afghan Taliban residing in Pakistan to the negotiation table.”

Thursday’s drone strike, which reportedly killed Fazlullah and five other insurgents when missiles slammed into the car in which they were driving, occurred just hours before Afghanistan’s Taliban began a three-day cease fire.

The cease-fire, which took effect at midnight Thursday, marks the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which follows the Muslim holy month of Ramadan when the faithful fast from sunrise to sunset. The Afghan Taliban announced their cease-fire after Ghani unilaterally declared a temporary cease-fire for the holidays on June 7.

In Afghanistan’s eastern…
