When you have given your heart to Christ, you need to begin to obey what Jesus said concerning sowing and reaping. When you now obey Him in your finances, then you are on your way to financial abundance. The common excuse is: “But I don’t have”. Beloved, everyone has something to give. And some of you sit in church and you say I am not working. My Pastor knows that I am not working so I cannot give tithe. You are shooting yourself in the leg. Yes, you are not working I know, but has somebody ever given you money, either for upkeep, pocket money or simply a donation, no matter how small? Once any money comes to you, take out one-tenth of it, don’t touch it.

Let me ask you something. Those of you who don’t pay tithe, if you are in a business deal with somebody and he is supposed to give you $1 out of $10 and the person suddenly takes your own $1 and his $9, will you be happy? No! So, you get upset when they take your own and you want God to be happy when you take His own.

Beloved, God owns everything! But He says take 90% and give me 10%. I think that is a fair deal! There is no man that will do that with you. God does not ask us to give because He is in lack. God asks us to give because He wants to bless us abundantly. Our giving secures the flow of God’s abundance into our lives. Don’t ever cut back in your tithing, your offerings and your seed faith. Giving is God’s wisdom for financial increase. Walk in this wisdom.

During a vacation, my husband and I signed up for a leisurely rafting tour down Georgia’s Chattahoochee River. Dressed in sandals, a sundress, and a wide brimmed hat, I groaned when we discovered—contrary to the advertisement—that the trip included light rapids. Thankfully, we rode with a couple experienced in whitewater rafting. They taught my husband the basics of paddling and promised to navigate us safely to our destination. Grateful for my life jacket, I screamed and gripped the plastic handle on the raft until we reached the muddy bank downriver. I stepped onto the shore and dumped water from my purse as my husband helped me wring out the hem of my soaked dress. We enjoyed a good laugh, even though the trip had not turned out as advertised.

Unlike the tour brochure, which clearly left out a key detail about the trip, Jesus explicitly warned His disciples that rough waters were ahead. He told them that they’d be persecuted and martyred and that He would die and be resurrected. He also guaranteed His trustworthiness, affirming that He would guide them toward undeniable triumph and everlasting hope (John 16:16–33).

Although it would be nice if life were easier when we follow Jesus, He made it clear that His disciples would have troubles. But He promised to be with us. Trials won’t define, limit, or destroy God’s plan for us, because Jesus’s resurrection has already propelled us to eternal victory.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the promises in Your Word that assure us You’ve planned our path and remain with us and for us, no matter what comes.

Jesus promises to be with us through the roughest waters.

Topic: Jesus Paid It All [Andrew Wommack Saturday June 16, 2018]

John 8:28 “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”

Text: John 8:12-30

This is the second of three times that Jesus spoke of Himself being “lifted up” (1st – Jn. 3:14; 3rd – Jn. 12:32-33). As the scripture explains in John 12:33, this was a reference to crucifixion as the means of His death. The lifting up is speaking of being lifted up from the earth and suspended on a cross in crucifixion. The Jews understood that Jesus was speaking of death.

The crucifixion didn’t just happen. It was planned by God. Does this mean that God bears all responsibility and those who were actually instrumental in the rejection and crucifixion of Jesus are not guilty? Not at all. Jesus came to the earth to die in our place and thereby purchase redemption for us. That was His plan but He didn’t force anyone to fulfill it. His ministry and message placed Him in direct opposition with the devil and his followers. Their hatred for Jesus caused them of their own free will to crucify Jesus.

God, in all His wisdom, simply knew what man would do and He determined to use their rejection of His Son to accomplish His will. He never controls our will to accomplish His.

If a person truly understands the message of the cross, then he understands grace. Jesus didn’t just make a token sacrifice for us. He paid it all. There’s no sacrifice that we can make that will add to or replace the sacrifice of Christ. He did it all, and we can thank Him forever!

Some, who doubt that the Bible is the true Word of God, doubt it because they are unwilling to ascribe to God anything they cannot themselves achieve. If you have any uncertainty about the inspiration of the Bible, go back and look at it again. Look at it in the light of a person who has been staring at a mud puddle all his life, and who is confronted for the first time by a view of the ocean!

Perhaps you are only now catching your first glimpse of God’s unlimited power. Perhaps you are only now beginning to understand Him for what He actually is. For if God is the Spirit that Jesus declares Him to be, there is no problem of providence, there is no problem of His sovereignty in the affairs of men, there is no problem of His inspiration of the men who wrote the Bible. Everything fits into place, once you understand who and what God really is.

Prayer for the day: My Father and my God, as I read the Scriptures each day, You open my eyes to more of the glories of Your wondrous love.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. – Isaiah 55:11

Did you know that the battleground for the problem you’re facing right now is in your mind and on your lips? If you’ll hit the devil with the Word and cast the care of the situation over on God, you’ll win.

Let me warn you though, hanging on to the Word isn’t always easy. The devil knows that if he doesn’t steal it from you, you’ll use it to enforce his defeat.

So don’t be surprised when he sends an evil spirit to exalt itself against the Word of God. If you’re sick, he may begin to tell you, “You’re not healed. You know that healing’s not for today. Even if it were, it wouldn’t work for you. It might work for someone else but not you.”

If he starts to tell you that kind of thing, don’t buy it! Don’t start worrying around about it and thinking, Oh my, I’m afraid I’m not going to get healed. I sure don’t feel healed. Why, I’m probably going to just get worse and worse….

Remember this: It’s the Word that does the work, not the one holding on to it. It’ll work for anyone who’ll put it to work. It’ll work for you just like it worked for Jesus when He walked the earth.

He told Satan, “It is written!” No matter what the devil tries to tell you, refuse to let go of the Word. Tell him what is written concerning your situation. Let the Word fight its own fight. It’ll whip the devil every time.

I want to ask you today the same question Paul asked the believers in Corinth centuries ago: Do you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? You are the home of God! Are you loving yourself, God, and others by caring for your physical body, treating it well, and using it for God’s purposes?

Some Christians focus only on the spiritual side of life and they fail to properly care for their bodies. Other people have such low self esteem or a shame based nature that they don’t feel their bodies are worth caring for. But God’s plan for us involves maintaining spiritual, emotional, and physical health. He wants us strong in every way! He wants us to feel good physically so we can serve Him and others, and be able to enjoy the life He has provided for us.

No matter what shape you are in physically, it’s never too late to improve and do some repair or maintenance on your temple. You can start by learning the basic principles of good nutrition, drink lots of water, employ stress management, exercise, and rest. Laughter is also important. It has been scientifically proven to improve your health. It’s amazing how much better you can feel if you will begin to make positive changes in these areas. Give it a try; I promise, you’ll be glad you did.

Prayer Starter: Father, I ask for Your grace to take practical steps toward good physical health. Help me to treat my body with respect so I can serve you to the best of my ability. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Topic: Replacing Negative Tendencies/Habits With Positive Ones [Seeds of Destiny Saturday June 16, 2018]

Scripture: And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. Genesis 32:26.

Thought For The Day: If you attack a negative tendency, attract the positive one.

The Scriptures make it clear that negative tendencies and habits limit a person from fulfilling God’s purpose for his life. Previously, we itemised ways of dealing with them.

However, dealing with these negative habits leaves a vacuum that needs to be filled. Thus, when these negative habits are dealt with, it is very important to replace them with positive ones.

When Jacob realized that a curse was after his life, he decided to make demands on the blessing of God instead of the curse. He told the angel “I will not let you go until you bless me”. What he meant was that he knew something (a curse) other than the blessing had been following him, so, he asked God to replace it with the blessing.

Beloved, if you notice and deal with rejection in your life, for example, then make demands on acceptance; you do not only break the curse in your life; you also need to receive the blessing. If you attack a negative tendency, attract the positive one. When you rebuke stagnation from your life, release progress and acceleration upon your life and destiny.

When you stop being in the company of drunkards and alcoholics and sitting in pubs, ensure to always be in the House of God serving Him permanently (Psalms 27:4). As you stop gratifying your flesh, decide to please God; engage in deep worship and communion with the Holy Spirit. Saturate yourself with God’s Presence. This is because nature abhors vacuum; the absence of seed equals the abundance of weed. The absence of light is the appearance of darkness; so, if you want darkness to be far from you, ensure that you stuff yourself with the light of God’s Word (Matthew 12:43-45).

Remember this: If you attack a negative tendency, attract the positive one.

Assignments:
1. Replace negative lifestyles and habits with positive ones.
2. Stay in God’s Presence always to attract His character.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You give me the grace to replace every negative pattern and habit in my life with positive ones. I ask for the revelation and impartation of Your Character on me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Fasting That Pleases God [DCLM Daily Manna Saturday June 16, 2018]

Text: Isaiah 58:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity” (Isaiah 58:9).

MESSAGE:

During the time of Prophet Isaiah, people were in the habit of denying themselves food and assuming postures of mourning and disguised humility as an offering to the Almighty. They would pray to God for His recognition and blessings but would continue living in unrighteousness. They would set apart a time to make themselves generally uncomfortable, go without meals, spread sackcloth and ashes over themselves and even call upon God for His favour. Yet, their lives were full of injustice and selfishness. They thought a mere abstinence from food without accompanying contrition and charitable spirit, was enough to receive blessings from God.

God wanted a fasting of repentance and holy living. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981), the pastor of Westminster Chapel in London said, “Fasting, if we conceive of it truly, must not… be confined to the question of food and drink; fasting should really be made to include abstinence from anything which is legitimate in and of itself for the sake of some special spiritual purpose. There are many bodily functions which are right, normal and perfectly legitimate, but which for special peculiar reasons in certain circumstances should be controlled. That is fasting.”

Fasting is very common in many circles today. And most have little or nothing to do with repentance from sin. True fasting involves repentance and total break from sin. This is the fast, which God chooses. Such fasting and self-denying life will attract the favour and blessings of God.

Topic: An Eagle For Christ? [Open Heavens 16th June 2018, Saturday Daily Devotional]

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

MESSAGE:

I have taught my children on several occasions to imbibe the characteristics of eagle. One of these outstanding characteristics is that eagles fly alone. It is not out of pride or the empty feeling of self-sufficiency that they do this; rather, it is because keeping company with other birds during flight is a form of weight and distraction for them. A disciple of Christ must emulate this attribute of the eagle if he or she would safely arrive home in heaven at the end of his or her life.

The problem with many children of God is that they seem to have lost sight of the fact that the path they are following is so narrow that it cannot accommodate a crowd (Matthew 7:14). This is the reason why a disciple of Jesus Christ must possess this characteristic of flying alone. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, Paul clearly admonished that evil communication corrupts good manners:

“14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?”

It is disheartening to note that there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing in the Church today, which is why every purposeful believer needs to have the mindset of an eagle.

Another noteworthy characteristic of eagles is that they are selective about what they eat and where they live. Moreover, they never fly against the wind. As a purposeful believer, you also must be selective about what you consume: what you listen to, what you look at and what you expose your mind to. What you regularly feed your spirit, soul and body with will determine what you will draw on in the day of trouble. You just be selective of the company you keep because your companions strongly influence what you are exposed to. Like the eagle that never flies against the wind, the purposeful believer must also be mindful of the move of the Holy Spirit and ensure that he or she is never aligned against His work.

Beloved, I encourage you to choose to be an eagle for Christ from today, and the Lord will renew your strength according to Isaiah 40:31. You cannot fly by your own strength, but the Holy Spirit wil help you if only you give yourself completely to Jesus Christ today.

Prayer Point: Father, make me an eagle for Christ today and cause me to fly for You.
