Archbishop disappointed the Pope will not visit N Ireland on visit the Republic

There was an expectation the Pope would visit the north as part of the Ireland trip, but it was confirmed at a press conference on Monday that he will not cross the border.

Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, said: “We were really hoping this might be an opportunity and I think he really would love to come to Northern Ireland but I suppose the pressures of this particular event and all he wants to do for the World Meeting of the families has overtaken that.

“I don’t get any sense from those I have been speaking to that the Holy Father is ruling out the possibility of ever coming to Northern Ireland.

“I think there will have to be a specific visit and I hope it will be soon.”

As part of his trip, the Pope will be flown to Knock in Co Mayo for a visit to the Chapel of Knock Shrine.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Tuesday, 12 June 2018 – Just Look Unto Jesus

TOPIC: God’s Peaceful Thoughts (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Tuesday, 12 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 29:11-13

MEMORY VERSE: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”Jeremiah 29:11

The MESSAGE:

There was this bride that was very nervous before her solemnisation service. She was not sure she could even walk down the aisle. But her mother gave her some words of encouragement. She said to her, “Honey, there are only three things you need to focus on to be fine. *The first is*: Walk down the aisle of the church. I know it’s rather long, but just concentrate on that. Don’t get caught up with those on either sides of the aisle. Just focus on getting to the end. *The second is*: focus on the altar, for it is your destination today. Make your way down the aisle to the altar. There you will stand before God with the man you love, and will make vows to God and him. God will also make a vow to you. Focus on the altar that represents the love that God has for you in Jesus Christ. *Lastly*: focus on the hymn that the soloist will sing, in poetry and song. This embodies God’s love for you. So, to help you not to be nervous, focus on these things: walking down the aisle, standing before the altar and listening to the hymns.”

The bride was very appreciative of her mum. While she was walking along with calmness and determination, she was mumbling three things over and over to help calm her nerves. As she passed the huge crowd, they heard her say, “Aisle, Altar, Hymn.” She overcame her nervousness and had a hitch-free wedding.

Similarly, God’s words to us today are; “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you” declared the LORD. These are awesome words. When Jeremiah heard these words, he probably had in his mind the God of the Exodus, the God who wiped out the Egyptian armies or the God who punished the Israelites when they failed to worship Him or follow His Laws. Contrary to all these, the Scriptures assure us that God’s thoughts are “thought of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” What a loving God we have.

Just as the bride in the story above kept the words of her mum at her heart and did as she was instructed, much more is expected of you to God in respect of His words. It is expected that you will hold fast to God’s word as He gradually unfolds His thought towards you. He has promised you thought of peace, He will do exactly that if you hold fast to His promise. Remember, the bride was thankful to her mum, do not forget to thank God for everything in your life.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Thought of God is for all ages and brings peace than the thought of man.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The peace of God shall overwhelm your heart and life.

3. O Lord, increase my faith to trust in You alone, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

When it was published 15 years ago, The Unchurched Next Door provided insight into reaching those far from Christ with the gospel. Today, we review the book and the research that made it possible.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Gospel receptivity by the unchurched has decreased in the past 15 years.
  • Even for non-Christians, Sunday is still seen as the traditional day for corporate worship.
  • Midweek services geared toward the unchurched are often onramps to assimilating new members into the weekly rhythms of a church.
  • Church is often a fearful place for the unchurched who’ve never been.

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 12 June 2018 Devotional — Reminders

Topic: Reminders [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Tuesday June 12, 2018]

For we walk by faith…not by sight…. — 2 Corinthians 5:7

It doesn’t matter what kind of problem we have in our lives, we need self-control and discipline to gain and maintain the victory. I believe this is especially true with regard to our thought life and the battle for our mind. What begins in the mind eventually comes out of the mouth, and before we know it, we’re telling anyone who will listen how we feel. We have to discipline our mind, our mouth, our feelings, and our actions so that they are all in agreement with what the Word of God says.

Every quality of God that is in you and me, God Himself planted in us in the form of a seed the day we accepted Christ (see Colossians 2:10). Over time and through life’s experiences, the seeds of Christ’s character begin to grow and produce the fruit of His Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (see Galatians 5:22–23).

I have found that it is virtually impossible to operate in any of the other eight fruit of the Spirit unless we are exercising self-control. How can you and I remain patient, for example, in the midst of an upsetting situation unless we exercise restraint? Or how can we walk in love and believe the best of someone after they have repeatedly hurt us unless we use the fruit of self-control?

As Christians, we have the fruit of the Spirit in us, but we must purposely choose to exercise them. Not choosing to exercise the fruit of the Spirit is what produces carnal Christians—¬those who are under the control of ordinary im¬pulses and walk after the desires of the flesh (see 1 Corinthians 3:3). Whatever we exercise the most becomes the strongest.

Our thoughts and words are two areas in which the Holy Spirit is constantly prompting us to exercise self-control. The Bible says that “. . . as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he,” and “out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks” (Proverbs 23:7; Luke 6:45 AMPC). Satan is ¬constantly trying to get us to accept wrong thoughts about everything from God’s love for us to what terrible thing is going to happen to us next. Why? Because he knows that once we start accepting and believing his lies, it is just a matter of time until we begin to speak them out of our mouths. And when we speak wrong things, we open the door for wrong things to come into our lives (see Proverbs 18:20–21).

What if, instead of allowing our minds to go over all of the things that have hurt us, we would remind ourselves to think about all the good things God has brought into our lives? When we allow Satan to fill our minds with worry, anxiety, and doubt, we wear out our ability to make good decisions. Worry is also thankless by nature. I’ve noticed that people who worry rarely see much good in life. They talk about tragedy, failures, sickness, and loss. They seem unable to focus on the good things that they still have in life.

Try this. Each day, focus on the things God has done for you in the past. This will make it easier for you to expect good things in the future. As I wrote those words, I thought of the memorials mentioned in the Old Testament. Often the people stacked up heaps of stones as reminders that God had delivered them or appeared to them. As they looked backward and remembered, they were able to look forward and believe.

The psalmist wrote, “O my God, my life is cast down upon me [and I find the burden more than I can bear]; therefore will I [earnestly] remember You from the land of the Jordan [River] and the [summits of Mount] Hermon” (Psalm 42:6 AMPC). He was reminding himself of past victories. When he was having problems, he recalled God’s great work in the lives of the people.

When doubts try to sneak in, you can do what the psalmist did: You can look back and remember that God has always been with His people. All of us have had times when we wondered if we’d make it. But we did. So will you.

Prayer Starter: My great God, forgive me for allowing the little things of life to distract me and to take my thoughts away from You. Through Jesus Christ, help me always to remember that You are with me in the good times and in the bad times. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Accessing The Wisdom Of God – By David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Accessing The Wisdom Of God

Prov.3:35 -The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

It takes the wisdom of God for you to operate in your heritage in Christ Jesus

Rom.11:33 -O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Wisdom is the know-how about one’s goal or issues of concern. It is knowing the right thing to do from the Word of God and doing it. When you locate the right thing to do from the Word of God, it empowers your career and business to change status when implemented. Wisdom is knowing the right steps to take about your goals and issues of concern to you and taking it. It is knowledge to know something but wisdom to apply what you know.

Wisdom therefore is the applied knowledge of the truth to any issue of concern. It is wisdom that makes a man’s face to shine; hence, the wiser you become, the brighter you shine.

Eccl.8:1 -Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.

It takes wisdom to operate in another realm of glory as the wise shall inherit glory according to the scripture above in Prov.3:35. If you sincerely desire a change of level in career, business and life in general, you must connect to the wisdom of God.

To access this wisdom of God, you need the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of wisdom and the Word of God which is the wisdom bank. The word of God makes people wise.

Psalm 19:7 -The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

Psalm 119:98 -Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

By engaging the many-sided wisdom of God, you confuse the devil and overcome principalities. When you engage the wisdom of God regarding any area of your life, all the powers frustrating your life in that area will lose their grips.

If you don’t have the Spirit of God in you, it is time to go for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and begin to dig deep into God’s word so as build your wisdom walk with God and thereafter enjoy distinction in life.

God bless you

The Family: God’s Delightful Place (Part 1) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic — The Family: God’s Delightful Place (1)

Dear Reader,

With joy unspeakable full of glory, I sincerely welcome you to this wonderful month in Jesus’ Name. This month, by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at: The Family: God’s Delightful Place.

The family is God’s delight. This is evident because He (God) instituted marriage and family life. When He did so, His plan was for a peaceful and fulfilling home. It is clear from the Word of God that family life was not only meant to be just a good experience for the Christian but a very good one. God’s Word says: And God saw every thing that he had made (including family life), and, behold, it was VERY GOOD… (Genesis1:31).

“VERY GOOD” should be the description of the experience you are having in your home and family life as a Christian. However, some families feel that God has forsaken them, that He does not care about their case and that all hope seems lost. Well, I have good news for you. God is not against you and your situation is not hopeless.

This week, via the Word of God you will see how to make God your delight and so make your home a delightful place to be.

It is important that every family understands that God delights (takes pleasure) in them. He wants your family life to be very good and to be a place of joy and gladness. God’s Word says: Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. For then shalt thou have THY DELIGHT IN THE ALMIGHTY, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee (Job 22:26 emphasis mine).

When God delights in you and you delight in Him, He makes your life and your home a delightful place. If it is joy you need, He gives it to you. If it is money that is in short supply, God releases it. If it is peace that is required, He brings peace. Everything it takes for your family to succeed is made available. When God delights in your family, every enemy of progress is silenced and you enjoy all-round security and speedy answers to your prayers.

Furthermore, when your delight is in Him, your life will always be on the increase (Psalm 18:19). God will promote you and ensure that you enjoy abundance in every area of your life. God’s Word says: Thou shalt no more be termed forsaken; neither shall thy land anymore be termed desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord DELIGHTETH in thee, and thy land shall be married (Isaiah 62:4 emphasis mine). This is God Word’s for you right now.

From the above passage, God’s Word is saying that you shall no longer be regarded as forsaken or desolate, but you shall be a delight to God. Delight means great pleasure, joy, or enjoyment. If you are feeling forsaken, abandoned and hopeless especially because of your family situation, and you just feel like giving up, DON’T! Don’t think God has forgotten you because He hasn’t.

The Word of God says: The Lord hath been MINDFUL of us:…(Psalm 115:12). So, don’t look at the seemingly hopeless situation around you whether it is your children that are problematic, your husband that is not understanding or your parents that are always quarrelling. Rather, look at God’s Word and believe Him today that whatever experience of desolation you have been through in time past or you are going through, shall be the last one in Jesus’ name. You can make your home a delightful place. You can enjoy the riches of God in your home!

Since God has declared via His Word that He delights in you and your family, you also should delight in Him and your family. Don’t give up on your family. If you were submitting to your spouse and he or she seems not to take notice of that, don’t give up. Keep doing it for God is about to touch his or her heart. Or if you have been loving your wife and she has been very stubborn and unyielding, keep doing so. God is about to soften her heart. You have a duty to ensure you don’t give up on your family responsibilities. Keep doing what is right; keep delighting in your family. God’s Word says: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord… (I Corinthians 15:58).Keep on obeying the instructions the Lord has given concerning your family, and God shall turn your situations around for good.

However, until God becomes your delight, your home cannot become a delightful place. If you really delight in the Lord, you also need to be certified a bonafide child of God. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through [email protected], 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

TREM Devotional 12 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Dare To Believe

Topic: Dare To Believe [TREM Devotional Tuesday June 12, 2018]

“And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” 2 Chronicles 20:20

One of the tragedies facing the Church today is the inability to believe the Word of God. The more you try to rationalise it, the more impossible it becomes. God has not called you to understand Him; He called you to BELIEVE.

To believe is to accept that He who promised is able and faithful to perform. To believe is to conclude that He can and will do as He has said. It is not a function of your ability or capacity, but that of God. Think of it, if a multi-billionaire promises to buy you a car, you leave that place dancing and testifying of the car, not because you have received it, but because you have accessed the person who made the promise and you have concluded within yourself that he can buy the car. The same thing happens if you meet the Chairman of a business conglomerate who promises you a job. The fact that he said to you “See me tomorrow and pick your employment letter” makes you rejoice; not because you have received the offer, or that you have resumed, but because you judged him able to give you that job.

Why then do you remain sad and unmoved when God speaks to you? Is God not bigger than the multi billionaire or the chairman of a business conglomerate? It is time to truly believe. Stop and think about the awesomeness of God. Think about the things He has done in time past and be convinced that He who did that can do anything that He has promised.

I challenge you today to dare to believe God. Receive every word and every promise with all of your heart and see His word come to pass in every area of your life.

Seeds of Destiny 12 June 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Identifying Negative Patterns and Habits

Topic: Identifying Negative Patterns and Habits [Seeds of Destiny Tuesday June 12, 2018]

Scripture: And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage. Genesis 47:9.

Thought For The Day: What cannot be identified cannot be rectified; what is not defined cannot be refined.

Previously, we have seen so far how negative patterns and habits could limit one’s life and destiny.

Now, it is important to know how to deal with them.
The first key to dealing with negative tendencies or habits is identifying them. Identifying the negative tendencies means recognizing and pointing them out. Identifying the negative tendencies or habits is important because you cannot deal with what you have not identified.
You need to know the particular problem/challenge in your life and its manifestations so you can deal with it. Identifying the negative pattern or habit helps you to know what you are dealing with.

Identifying the negative pattern and habit is also important because what cannot be identified cannot be rectified; what is not defined cannot be refined. So, it must be identified in order to be rectified; it must be defined in order to be refined; it must be diagnosed in order to be treated.

As you examine or study your life, you may identify a particular negative tendency or habit, a negative pattern of life you have been battling with, that you have observed; until this is done, you cannot deal with the negative tendencies and habits.

Identifying the pattern is pointing out a particular negative occurrence in your family. For example, the cycle in your family may be that of rising and crashing in life’s endeavours. You may have identified that your father rose to a point in business and suddenly crashed. It was the same story with your uncles who also rose at one time in their lives but are now struggling in life. Maybe your father started a building project in the village and could not finish; and now, the same pattern is being repeated in your own life. Identify the pattern, and trust God to deal with it.

Remember this: What cannot be identified cannot be rectified; what is not defined cannot be refined.

Assignments:
1. Ask God to reveal to you the negative patterns and habits in your life and lineage.
2. Identify the visible and reoccurring pattern in your family and lineage and trust God to deal with them.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You open my eyes to see any reoccurring pattern and habit in my life and family. Expose the root of my life challenges, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna 12 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – On God’s Side

Topic: On God’s Side [DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday June 12, 2018]

Text: Exodus 1:15-22 (KJV)

Key Verse: “But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive” (Exodus 1:17).

MESSAGE:

In all ages, enemies are known to have plotted against the people of God. Although such hardened foes do not easily succumb, yet, God has always manifested His great power in the lives of people who truly trust Him to deliver them from all afflictions.

At this time because the Egyptians could not stop the growth of Israel through cruel slavery, they resorted to terminating the lives of all male children at birth. But their plot fell through, as the midwives decided to yield themselves as instruments of service in God’s hands. And because they feared God, the midwives were blessed with families by Almighty God. The king of Egypt did not stop at that; he ordered that the newly born children should be thrown into the river and be drowned.

The heartless plans of the king of Egypt could not stop the plan of God in delivering the people of Israel from bondage. Despite his oppression and harsh edict, Moses miraculously escaped death and was even brought up in the king’s house. The devil will stop at nothing to try to destroy a child of God, yet, he will never succeed.

Believers must not yield themselves as instruments of oppression against the children of God. We must, like the midwives, have the fear of God. It was not as if they were expecting any reward from God for saying ‘No’, to the devilish order from the king. We must, at all times, shun all forms of evil, cleave to what is good and endeavour to stand for what is right in the sight of God before all men.

Thought For The Day: God’s counsel always prevails.
