Source Says Secret Witness in Turkey’s Case Against Andrew Brunson Is ‘Blackmail Extortionist’ – Urban Christian News

A person who claims to have been blocked from testifying on behalf of imprisoned Pastor Andrew Brunson in Turkey has shed new light on the case and offered concerning details about the identity of one of the prosecution’s secret witnesses.

The source, who chose to remain nameless, told Newsmax in a recent interview that the Turkish government has barred him from testifying on the 50-year-old Brunson’s behalf. The source went on to explain how one of the secret witnesses used by the prosecution is an extortionist who is known for taking advantage of religious leaders.

Brunson, a North Carolina native who has preached in Turkey for the past two decades, has been imprisoned since October 2016 and has been falsely accused of being connected to the Islamic Gulen movement and Kurdistan Workers Party.

The source explained that the testimony of the secret witness in question comprises a large part of the 107-page indictment against the pastor. They added that the secret witness has previously been involved in other cases against religious organizations.

The secret witness has been described as a person who has used blackmail and physical threats in recent years to try and extort “large sums of money” from several religious leaders.

The article didn’t specify what kind of religious leaders the man had extorted.

Sources told Newsmax that in one instance unrelated to Brunson’s case, the secret witness allegedly filed a legal case seeking $800,000 from a religious organization. However, the witness lost that case and its ensuing appeal.

Newsmax, which obtained a copy of Brunson’s…

Teens Open Heavens 7 June 2018 – Jesus: All Embracing Name

Topic — Jesus: All Embracing Name [Teens Open Heavens 7, June 2018]

Memorise: Wherefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name. Philippians 2:9

Read: Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 23-25, John 16:16-33

MESSAGE:

In an estate containing 15 houses, a fire broke out one day. It progressed from one house to the next. It was meant to engulf all the houses in that estate, but one of the houses was owned by a born again Christian. As she prayerfully resisted the inevitable, she simply engaged one word – Jesus. Her house was the eight on the row, the fire engulfed the first seven houses, jumped over her and burned the ninth and the rest.
Quite a lot of things are loaded into the name Jesus; your salvation rom sin, Satan and the world are in that Name. it is the only authentic, Heaven-certified, earth and hell recognized name capable of salvaging any mess. Are you in a mess and it seems there is no way out? Call the Name of Jesus and you will find permanent solution.

Key Point: When in danger or trouble, shout the Name Jesus.

Hymn 10:

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.

TREM Devotional 7 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – What Is Ahead Of You Is Greater Than What Is Behind You

Topic: What Is Ahead Of You Is Greater Than What Is Behind You [TREM Devotional Thursday June 7, 2018]

“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace saith the LORD of hosts.” Haggai 2:9

Have you ever seen a driver who is moving forward with his face turned to the back? It’s not possible, except the driver wants to have a fatal accident. So how then do we think we can move forward if we keep looking behind? Yes, I know you might have made some mistakes, you may have missed it at some point, but the Bible lets us know that where sin abounds, His grace abounds much more.

Beloved, it’s high time you looked ahead with anticipation. God wants to do some amazing things, but how ready are you? How prepared are you to receive what God is about to do? Isaiah 43:18-19 tells us to forget the former things, don’t dwell on it. Why? Because I will do a new thing, it will spring forth. I will make rivers in the desert, and roads in the wilderness. This is the Word of the Lord to us. But, if we do not yield to the instruction in verse 18, we will miss out on the new thing that God wants to do. God wants to make a way where there is no way, God wants to make impossibilities possible, God wants to give you a mind-blowing testimony, but you must make up your mind to focus on what is ahead. Stop looking behind you, the interesting thing about the past is that you cannot do anything about it, it has already happened. So, why waste your time dwelling on it? That is the lie of the enemy, to hinder you from moving forward, but you must not succumb to it. Greater things are ahead of you. Glorious things are ahead of you.

I declare to you that you will attain all that God has purposed for your life. Nothing will hinder you in Jesus’ name. I will hear your testimony.

Time Running Out for Rescue Chances at Guatemala Volcano – Urban Christian News

Emergency crews pulled more bodies from what remained of villages devastated by the eruption of Guatemala’s Volcano of Fire on Wednesday, but time was quickly running out to find survivors as the confirmed death toll rose to 99 with nearly 200 still missing.

Thousands of people displaced by the eruption have sought refuge in shelters, many of them of with dead or missing loved ones and facing an uncertain future, unable to return to homes destroyed by the volcano.

Firefighters said the chance of finding anyone alive amid the still-steaming terrain was practically nonexistent 72 hours after Sunday’s volcanic explosion. Thick gray ash covering the stricken region was hardened by rainfall, making it even more difficult to dig through the mud, rocks and debris that reached to the rooftops of homes.

“Nobody is going to be able to get them out or say how many are buried here,” Efrain Suarez said, standing amid the smoking holes dotting what used to be the village of San Miguel Los Lotes on the flanks of the mountain.

“The bodies are already charred,” the 59-year-old truck driver said. “And if heavy machinery comes in they will be torn apart.”

Once a verdant collection of canyons, hillsides and farms, the land is now a barren moonscape. Rescuers poked metal rods into the ground, sending clouds of smoke pouring into the air in a sign of the super-hot temperatures still remaining below the surface, which firefighters said reached as high as 750 to 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit (400 to 700 degrees Celsius) in some places.

At a shelter in the Murray D. Lincoln school in the city of…

Seeds of Destiny 7 June 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Pathways To Mental Renovation

Topic: Pathways To Mental Renovation [Seeds of Destiny Thursday June 7, 2018]

Scripture: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2.

Thought For The Day: To increase the value of your life, you must renovate your mind.

It has been confirmed that what goes on inside a man’s mind is what he would eventually become in life. This means, in order to have a quality life and destiny, the first place to focus on is the mind. When the mind is changed, life can be changed. That is to say a change of life is preceded by a change of mind.

Now, how can one change one’s mind in order to have a changed life and destiny?
i) Access correct information
If you want to change your mind, you need the right information, correct and insightful information. Read the Scriptures and listen to message tapes. Read quality books and other helpful materials. These materials, especially God’s Word will let you know who you are and what you have. It is more profitable to spend money on materials that will enhance your spirit than on material things that can only gratify your flesh.

ii) Communicate Effectively
You need effective communication for a change of mind. This is a situation where you speak to yourself on a continuous basis. It is important to know that no one can talk to you more than yourself. This is what David did. He encouraged himself in the Lord and told himself, ‘The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want’. At this time, his pocket was obviously empty but he told himself, ‘I shall not want’. Beloved, if you are waiting for external encouragement, you might die of discouragement.

3. Associate Correctly
If you want to change your mind, avoid associating with people of negative minds, avoid pessimistic people. Your association affects your mentality. Iron sharpens iron so does a man sharpen the countenance of his friends (Proverb 27:17). You cannot associate with micro-minded people and have a mega destiny.

Beloved, when you combine correct information with effective communication and the right association, you are on your way to becoming who God created you to be.

Remember this: To increase the value of your life, you must renovate your mind.

Assignments:
1. Develop the discipline of reading and accessing correct information.
2. Speak to yourself consistently from God’s Word. Make positive declarations about your life and destiny.
3. Surround yourself with the right association.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the grace to access positive mind-changing information. I ask for the grace to speak to myself always from Your Word and surround myself with the right people, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Andrew Wommack’s Devotional 7 June 2018 – God Likes Us

Topic: God Likes Us [Andrew Wommack Thursday June 7, 2018]

Matthew 18:14 “Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”

Text: Matthew 18:12-14

One of the greatest truths of the Bible and also one of the hardest to comprehend, is that we are the objects of God’s love. God didn’t just pity us or feel some sense of moral obligation to save us. He saved us because of His infinite love for us (Jn. 3:16).

God loves people. He even loves those who have gone astray. As Jesus said in a similar parable (Lk. 15:7), “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

Once we experience the life-changing power of Christ, there is a tendency to become harsh and impatient with others who continue to live their lives without Him. We sometimes forget that it was the love and goodness of God that brought us to repentance (Rom. 2:4), and we become condemning and judgmental toward the lost. This is not the attitude that Jesus had, nor the attitude He wants us to have.

“Even when we were spiritually dead because of our sins, God’s forbearance was working on our behalf. He was tolerant, patient and kind towards us. God abounded in excessive proportion with good will, compassion, and desire to help us. His disposition was kind, compassionate, and forgiving in His treatment of us. He wanted in abundant supply to alleviate our distress and bring relief from our sins. He did this by giving us life in place of death.

It was with Christ that this salvation was secured. By grace, kindness, and favor we are saved. All of this was the result of God’s extremely large degree of love wherewith He loved us, always seeking the welfare and betterment of us. God likes us” (Eph. 2:4-5 paraphrased by).
God loves YOU!

Billy Graham Devotional 7 June 2018 – Reconciliation

Topic: Reconciliation [Billy Graham’s Devotional Thursday June 7, 2018]

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son . . . — Romans 5:10

The word “reconcile” means literally “bring into a changed relationship.” It means to bring together two parties who should have been together all along. The Bible speaks of the human race as enemies of God. You may say that you are no “enemy” of God, but according to Scripture we are either passive or active enemies of God, apart from Christ. Reconciliation means “brought back into full relationship and fellowship with God.” This is what Christ accomplished on the cross. What a thrilling thought!

Prayer for the day: Your cross, dear Savior, brings me to my knees in humble gratitude. Thank You, for forgiving all the past and giving me strength to live each day in Your power.

Our Daily Bread Devotional 7 June 2018 – And in Truth

Topic: And in Truth [Our Daily Bread 7 Thursday June, 2018]

Read: Zephaniah 1:1–6; 2:1–3, Bible in a Year: 2 Chronicles 28–29; John 17

In his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Years ago, I attended a wedding where two people from different countries got married. Such a blending of cultures can be beautiful, but this ceremony included Christian traditions mixed with rituals from a faith that worshiped many gods.

Zephaniah the prophet pointedly condemned the mixing of other religions with faith in the one true God (sometimes called syncretism). Judah had become a people who bowed in worship to the true God but who also relied on the god Molek (Zephaniah 1:5). Zephaniah described their adoption of pagan culture (v. 8) and warned that as a result God would drive the people of Judah from their homeland.

Yet God never stopped loving His people. His judgment was to show them their need to turn to Him. So Zephaniah encouraged Judah to “Seek righteousness, seek humility” (2:3). Then the Lord gave them tender words promising future restoration: “At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home” (3:20).

It’s easy to condemn examples of obvious syncretism like the wedding I attended. But in reality, all of us easily blend God’s truth with the assumptions of our culture. We need the Holy Spirit’s guidance to test our beliefs against the truth of God’s Word and then to stand for that truth confidently and lovingly. Our Father warmly embraces anyone who worships Him in the Spirit and in truth (see John 4:23–24).

Prayer: When I am in trouble, where do I turn? A crisis reveals where I put my trust. Is my faith completely in God? What do I need to give over to Him today?

God is always ready to forgive and restore.

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 7 June 2018 – Put the Rumor to Rest

Topic: Put the Rumor to Rest [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Thursday June 7, 2018]

And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt…but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. – Exodus 10:22-23

Years ago Satan started a rumor. He told a few Christians they had to live like the world, sharing all the same misfortune, defeat, poverty and failure as those around them. Well, the word spread. You may have heard the rumor yourself. But I am telling you right now that it is a crafty lie.

The Word of God says in Psalm 91:10, that evil can’t even come near your house if you are abiding in Him.

In John 16, Jesus Himself says He has deprived the world of power to harm you. And Exodus 10:23 says that when thick darkness surrounded the Egyptians, the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

By these and other scriptures, you can see that God never intended you to experience all of the junk that the world suffers. He’s always wanted His children to live above it, to stand out as light in a dark world.

In the Old Testament, God’s fame was established because of the miracles He had worked for His children. That same thing should be true today with you and me. We should be glorifying God by the miraculously victorious lives we live. People should be coming up to us and saying things like, “I’ve heard how God healed you.” Or, “I’ve heard how your children were delivered from drugs,” or, “God has really brought you out of a financial crisis.”

Can you see now why Satan would spread a rumor that would make you believe you have to suffer with the world instead of live as victor over it? He doesn’t want people running after you asking where you get your power, your peace, your health and prosperity.

But that’s exactly what God wants to happen. So, put the Word of God to work and dare to receive the blessings He has promised to you. Let the light of God’s power in your life put the devil’s dark rumors to rest!

DCLM Daily Manna 7 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Wait On The Lord

Topic: Wait On The Lord [DCLM Daily Manna Thursday June 7, 2018]

Text: 1 Samuel 13:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering” (1 Samuel 13:12).

MESSAGE:

There is no middle course to a life. One will either live by faith or by sight governed by the dictates of sensual judgments. You either possess a faith mentality or rely on sensual capacity. Either choice will definitely impact positively or negatively on your destiny.

King Saul took it upon himself to offer a sacrifice, which he was not permitted to do, because he saw the people scatter from him when Prophet Samuel’s arrival delayed. The consequence of his action was that there would be no kings from his lineage anymore.

Many believers today, out of fear and desperation, take costly steps and impulsive decisions. Faced by some threatening circumstances, they easily lose faith and confidence in God to the point of seeking solutions from unimaginable quarters. Thus, they complicate their cases. We must understand that there is no triumph without challenges. Only those who stick to God in faith will always sing the victor’s song.

The presence of challenges in one’s life currently does not invalidate the authenticity of God’s word concerning him/her. King Saul forgot this fact and thus, landed himself in trouble. He also forgot that challenges are to prove that God’s word is reliable.

The devil does not contest a life without treasures. He may try to frustrate you in various forms. Do not fear or run. If you patiently hide under the banner of our Lord Jesus Christ, you are safe.

Thought For The Day: They that wait upon the Lord shall not make haste.
