Topic: Trust Him to Deliver You [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Tuesday June 5, 2018]

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee…. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. – Psalm 91:7,10

Naturally speaking, this is a terrifying world we’re living in today. A world that staggers from one disaster to another. Almost daily we hear about wars, about the dangers of nuclear weapons and chemical warfare, about oil spills and earthquakes and floods, about diseases on the rise and crime sweeping through our cities.

But in the midst of it all, God is promising to be a refuge and a fortress to those who will trust and dwell in Him.

“But, Gloria,” you might say, “He made that promise thousands of years ago when things weren’t in as desperate shape as they are today!”

That may be so, but you know what? That promise is right up-to-date. It was made for our generation. Just think about it. Back when Psalm 91 was written, man hadn’t even invented weapons that could destroy 10,000 people at once. We’re the generation that did that. So when He said, “No evil will befall you,” He was including us.

No evil will befall you. My, what a statement! You need to catch hold of it and believe it today. Believe that God wants to be God in your life. He wants to be your protection. He wants to be your security. He wants to be the first Name you call when trouble comes your way. He wants to be the One you trust in and look to, to keep you safe. And if you’ll do that, He’ll never, never let you down.

He can handle all the dangers that surround you. I don’t care how bad they are, He can handle them! He proved that with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were bound and thrown into a fiery furnace that was so hot that the men who threw them in were killed by the heat. Now you can’t get in any more trouble than that. But God brought them through and when they came out, they didn’t even smell like smoke. Hallelujah!

So, no matter how terrifying things around you seem to get, trust God. He’ll always be faithful. He’ll never be out doing something else when you need help. He’ll be right there to deliver you from any problem, any catastrophe, any kind of devastation.

Let Him prove in your life what He proved in the lives of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego: No other can deliver like He can!

Topic: Humility Before Honor [Andrew Wommack Tuesday June 5, 2018]

Matthew 18:4 “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

Text: Matthew 18:1-5; Mark 9:30-37; Luke 9:46-48

It is interesting that Jesus used a little child to illustrate humility. Although it is true that little children have a purity and humility that is many times missing in adults, they certainly are not selfless. A child comes into the world totally self-centered, wanting what he wants when he wants it. Parents are to train children out of this self-centeredness.

One of humility’s dominant characteristics is a God-dependency and not a self-sufficiency. The truth of humility being the key to greatness or success was not new. Jesus gave this truth new meaning by walking in humility as no one ever had before.

This path of self-denial to greatness is exactly opposite to the world’s path of exalting self at everyone else’s expense. The path of humility could not possibly work if there was no God. We would simply be trampled underfoot.

Humility is a step of faith – faith that God is the judge and that promotion comes from Him (Ps. 75:6-7), and faith that God will resist the proud but give grace unto the humble (1 Pet. 5:5). Humility is trusting in God and not in ourselves. This is why it is easy to be humble when we’ve failed, and conversely, hard to be humble when we’ve achieved great success. This is precisely why Paul commanded Timothy not to put a novice into a position of leadership in the church. Pride is self-sufficiency and self-exaltation while humility is self-denial and dependence upon God.

God’s kingdom is founded upon this principle of humility before honor. God’s kind of love is selfless as can be seen by Jesus’ own actions. Pride is the only reason that strife comes (Prov. 13:10); so remember, humility is the key to walking in love with our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! Luke 18:38

Some years ago a traveling companion noticed I was straining to see objects at a distance. What he did next was simple but life changing. He took off his glasses and said, “Try these.” When I put his glasses on, surprisingly my blurred vision cleared up. Eventually I went to an optometrist who prescribed glasses to correct my vision problem.

Today’s reading in Luke 18 features a man with no vision at all, and living in total darkness had forced him to beg for a living. News about Jesus, the popular teacher and miracle worker, had reached the blind beggar’s ears. So when Jesus’s travel route took Him by where the blind man was sitting, hope was ignited in his heart. “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (v. 38) he called. Though without sight physically, the man possessed spiritual insight into Jesus’s true identity and faith in Him to meet his need. Compelled by this faith, “He shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’” (v. 39). The result? His blindness was banished, and he went from begging for his living to blessing God because he could see (v. 43).

In moments or seasons of darkness, where do you turn? Upon what or to whom do you call? Eyeglass prescriptions help improve vision, but it’s the merciful touch of Jesus, God’s Son, that brings people from spiritual darkness to light.

Prayer: Father, open the eyes of my heart to clearly see who Jesus is and what He can do.

The Father’s delight is to give sight to those who ask Him.

All the masterpieces of art contain both light and shadow. A happy life is one filled not only with sunshine, but one which uses both light and shadow to produce beauty. The greatest musicians, as a rule, are those who know how to bring song out of sadness. Fanny Crosby, her spirit aglow with faith in Christ, saw more with her sightless eyes than most of us do with normal vision. She has given us some of the great gospel songs which cheer our hearts and lives. In a rat-infested jail in Philippi, Paul and Silas sang their song of praise at midnight to the accompaniment of the jailer’s whip. But their patience in suffering and persecution led to the heathen warden’s conviction.

Prayer for the day: Let my heart learn to sing when everything around me seems so dark. Give me Your grace to praise You, Lord Jesus.

Topic: The Inevitable Appointment [Seeds of Destiny Tuesday June 5, 2018]

Scripture: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27.

Thought For The Day: Everyone on earth has an inevitable and unchangeable appointment with death.

Our Anchor Scripture makes us to understand that there is an inevitable appointment with death and the inescapable judgment. The consciousness of this imparts caution to action. Many people live anyhow on earth because they are not aware of the inevitable appointment and inescapable judgement.

Now, I will like you to take note of the following key facts:
1. Everyone on earth is scheduled on an appointment
Everyone on earth has an inevitable and unchangeable appointment with death. This is what many people do not like to hear but the truth is, it is appointed unto men once to die… (Hebrews 9:27). Many people live on earth as if we have a limitless time on earth.

2. Our days on earth are numbered
Whether one is going to live for seventy or eighty years and above, one’s days on earth are numbered (Psalms 90:10, 12). We have a limited time on earth. As you are reading this message right now, there are people whose time just expired on earth; there are those whose time on earth will expire before the end of today or the arrival of tomorrow. This is not a curse but the truth. Statistics show that one hundred and five people die around the world every single minute. Beloved, you do not have unlimited time in this world; your days are numbered. You may still have up to thirty or forty years to live, but your days are numbered.

3. Nobody can live wisely who does not think deeply
Nobody can live wisely who has a shallow thought. To live wisely, you must think deeply. When you number your days, you apply yourself to the wisdom of wise thoughts. Those who live wisely are those who understand that their days are numbered. There are many people living carelessly as if this world will continue to exist for ever.

Beloved, my counsel is, arm yourself with the mentality that no one is to too wise, strong, rich, beautiful, influential or powerful to escape the appointment with death.

Remember this: Everyone on earth has an inevitable and unchangeable appointment with death.

Assignments:
1. Go through today’s message again.
2. Live with the consciousness of the inevitable appointment with death so you can re-order and re-organise your life.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the grace to always live with the consciousness of the inevitable appointment and inescapable judgement so I can live rightly, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

Bible in One Year: 1 Kings 18-19, Acts 6:1-7:2

MESSAGE:

One of the lies of the devil, which every child of God must reject, is that you have nothing good in your hands that can bring profit to your life. To perpetuate this lie, the devil may trivialize that gift of God in you as though nothing substantial can come out of it. Contrary to this lie, in Job 8:7, the Holy Spirit says to you:

“Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”

Our memory verse also encourages us not to despise the day of small things. This was the problem with the unprofitable servant in Matthew 25:14-30. He thought he was not given enough talents to trade with and so he went ahead to hide what he was given. The consequence of this was that even the talent he was initially given was taken away from him, and he was punished for being slothful, indolent and insubordinate.

Beloved, what is that physical or spiritual gift you are looking down on? The Lord asked me to tell you to value it well so that it will not be taken away from you. Are you given an assignment that you think belittles your status in the Church or in your secular place of work? Please embrace it and do it as unto the Lord. In John 6:1-14, we read of how the disciples nearly missed the miracle of multiplication because they could not see how five loaves and two fishes could be used to feed several thousands of people. The widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 also had a fantastic source of income, but she did not know it until the Lord had mercy on her and led her to Prophet Elisha, who opened her eyes to the “oil well” in a corner of her house!

Another lesson from the feeding in the desert is the blessing attached to giving. Imagine if the boy in this story had refused to release his fish and bread under the assumption that it was too small to feed the multitude! Some people die in abject poverty because they are stingy. They refuse to give from what they have until they become millionaires and have enough to spare! Many people think that they need millions before they can start a business that will lead to financial breakthrough. Beloved, all you need to do is to ask God what line of action you should take. Ask Him to take the lead and to be your senior partner while you follow. I pray that the Lord God of increase will increase you this season in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point: Father, please increase the little I have today in Jesus’ Name.
