Awake to righteousness, and sin not…. – 1 Corinthians 15:34

When your alarm clock goes off tomorrow morning, don’t just wake up to another day. Do what the Word says to do and “awake to righteousness”! Reawaken yourself to the glorious fact that you’ve been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and given right-standing with Almighty God.

Why? Because tomorrow—and every other day of your life on this earth—Satan is going to try to convince you that you don’t have any right to the things of God. He’s going to try to bring you into bondage again to sin in order to control your life. But he won’t be able to do it if you’ll reawaken yourself every day to who you really are in Jesus.

Here’s a prayerful confession to help that revelation come alive in you:

“Father, I confess anew Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior today. Lord, You are the head of my life. I completely yield myself to You. My will is now Your will. My plans are now Your plans.

“As a new creation in Christ Jesus, I accept the gift of righteousness and all that gift includes: health, prosperity, peace, joy and life abundant. I put aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets me. I now look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.

“According to Your Word, I can now reign in this life as a king. The power of sin and death in my life has been overcome. No longer am I ruled by the forces of evil but by the God above all gods. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me.

“I determine today to walk conscious of my right-standing with You, Lord, and with every step to draw closer and closer to You. Thank You for the gift of righteousness. Because of that gift, I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

“In Jesus’ Name. Amen!”

MESSAGE:

The eagle is a super bird. It is known to take higher flights because it wants to remain different and out of the league of other birds. In today’s Bible reading, our Lord Jesus Christ is compared to an eagle. He rides on the higher places. Ephesians 1:20-21 says Christ is raised above all and made to seat far above all dominion, power or throne. Being a child of the Eagle, you become an eaglet yourself, and so you have in you the traits of the eagle.

Unfortunately, many believers become ‘doubting Thomases’ when it comes to this, or they simply refuse to act it out. Any believer who is constantly living in failure and defeat is ignorant of who he or she is in Christ. You are far above fear, failures and defeat. Do not live below your original/spiritual position!

Action Point: Search through the scriptures and write out passages that talk about your spiritual placement and authority. Believe, confess and enforce them.

Topic: Call Upon His Name [TREM Devotional Friday May 25, 2018]

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

The Word says that “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. He is not just saved from sin but saved from sickness, from diseases and from pains. The word ‘save’ is a robust word that is all-encompassing. Realize that everything you will need for this time and for eternity is included in it. Have you ever called upon the name of the Lord? Praise the Lord. With that scripture, you have a guarantee that some of our loved ones that we thought would go to hell didn’t go to hell. Maybe they called upon the name of the Lord when they were dying. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10 verse 14 says “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” How can they call upon the Lord for healing when they don’t believe? How can they call upon Him to answer their prayer for the fruit of the womb when they don’t believe? How can they call upon Him for them to pass their exams when they don’t believe? How can you call upon him to give you money, to prosper your business or touch different areas of your life if you have not believed in Him?

And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? Did you notice that? How would they believe somebody they’ve not heard about? Child of God, fill your spirit with His Word continually. Believe Him and call upon His name today and it shall be well with you.

Topic: Laying Aside The Weights Of Life [Seeds of Destiny Friday May 25, 2018]

Scripture: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,”let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrew 12:1

Thought For The Day: Weight limits speed in life; weight weighs down your destiny.

Weight is a burden; it weighs a person down, wears out life and slows down the speed of destiny.

Many people are not where God wants them to be in life because of an unclear conscience. An unclear conscience is a conscience laden with the weight of sin, guilt, bitterness, malice, etc. They sleep and wake up with guilt. Our anchor Scripture admonishes us to lay aside every weight and the sins that easily besets us. Iniquity is a weight; guilt is a weight and weight is the enemy of speed. There can be no speed in your life as long as there is weight in your life. Weight limits speed in life; weights weigh down your life and destiny.

When you, for instance, live with a woman that you have not married, you are carrying a terrible weight of iniquity on your life. This weight of iniquity also includes working with a certificate you did not earn, using a false age declaration to work, watching ungodly movies, the lifestyle of drinking alcohol, etc.

If you want to go far on earth, and if you want to make it to eternity with God in heaven, you must drop your weights.

Beloved, God wants to take you far in this world; He wants you to end your journey with Him in eternity if you give Him the chance in your life. Surrender your life to God and let Him remove every weight from your life.

Remember this: Weight limits speed in life; weight weighs down your destiny.

Assignments:
1. Identify the different weights that pull you down always from fulfilling destiny.
2. Ask God to give you the grace to lay them aside.
3. Make a conscious effort to lay them aside.

Prayer: O Lord, I lay aside every weight in my life. I ask for the grace to remain pure in order to fly high in life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Not A Blind Commitment [DCLM Daily Manna Friday May 25, 2018]

Text: Luke 14:25-35 (KJV)

Key Verse: “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33)

MESSAGE:

In the passage, great multitudes followed Jesus. This afforded Him the opportunity to deliver the most fundamental teaching on Christian discipleship: complete surrender to His lordship. He did not want the crowd to follow sheepishly without counting the cost. It was not a question of sheer large numbers.

He warned that He did not desire blind or naïve decisions that anticipated only blessings. His teaching asked for love greater than that shown to one’s family. Jesus’ concern is that as a wise builder prudently plans what it will cost to erect a structure, a disciple should also think deep about his determination to follow the narrow path of Christ. Our Lord also likened following Him to the case of a king going to war. He must examine his military strength against that of the enemy before embarking on the campaign.

The same is with a serious believer whose goal is heaven. Before committing himself to Christ, he must be ready to pay the price. There would be seasons of persecution, trials and temptation from Satan, who does not desire him to make heaven. Following Jesus is not crisis-free. There will be death-threatening challenges from friends and family to make the believer turn back from the Lord. The believer may sometimes have to give up a promising career and treasured resources for the sake of Christ and the Kingdom.

The Lord expects unconditional surrender if we are to bear the title of Christ’s disciple. That total submission is what would fit us for the heavenly home reserved for us and retain our status as the salt of the earth, which will be useless the moment it is adulterated. The disciple who does not count the cost of discipleship before jumping into the boat would lose his saltiness and be a laughing stock.

Thought For The Day: He who will follow Christ must first count the cost.

Topic: Good Neighbourliness I [Open Heavens 25th May 2018, Friday]

1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

Bible in One Year: 1 Kings 1, 1 John 5

MESSAGE:

Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the widow of one of the sons of the prophets, whose late husband owed some money to a heartless creditor, who threatened to take away her two sons as slaves. After listening to her complaint, the man of God said to her in 2 Kings 4:3:

“…Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.”

This instruction indirectly placed the solution to her problem in the hands of her neighbours, because her ability to get the many empty vessels she needed depended on how good a neighbour she had been.

Among the Jewish people in Bible days, loans were not supposed to be commercial in nature; rather, they were to be given on charitable terms. For example, interest-free loan would be given to assist a peasant farmer during a period of poverty. The primary motivation of borrowers is to obtain relief from need rather than to further their economic enterprises. For this reason, lending with interest to the poor was prohibited in Exodus 22:25. God’s expectation is that lending to the poor will be a form of sacrifice motivated by the spirit of mercy and compassion in obedience to Him (Proverbs 3:27-28). Although the Bible encourages us not to deny the poor and needy who approach us for help, we determine who deserves our help and how far we are ready to go on their behalf based on factors such as good neighbourliness. In Acts 9:36-41, the neighbours of Tabitha protested vehemently against her death and pleaded passionately with Apostle Peter for her to be raised back to life because she was full of good works and alms deeds. In Luke 7:1-10, the elders of the Jews approached Jesus on behalf of a centurion who had a sick servant. They pleaded with Him, saying this man deserved His assistance because he had shown his love for them by building them a synagogue. Without controversy, good neighbourliness played a very big role in these cases we have considered. In the case of the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-6, the fact that she went to her neighbours and got the vessels she needed indicates that she had been a good neighbour to them. Imagine if she was the kind of person who was not known to her neighbours or if she was a proud and difficult person; she would have been denied the vessels she needed and her miracle would have been a mirage. God charged us in Romans 12:18 to live peacefully with all men, knowing fully well that apart from it being a source of blessing to us, a peaceful coexistence with our neighbours will give us the much needed opportunity to preach the good news to them.

Action Point: Make peace with every neighbour you are not at peace with.
