Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 16 May 2018 – Step Out of the Boat

Topic: Step Out of the Boat [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Wednesday May 16, 2018]

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water…. – Matthew 14:28-29

It’s easy to be so afraid of making a mistake that you never get around to stepping out on faith. You can spend all your time wondering, Is this faith? Or is it presumption? What if I exercise my faith for something and find out later I’ve missed God’s will?

Don’t worry. God can handle any mistake you can make. I know because I’ve made plenty of them. When I did, I’d just go to the Lord and He’d tell me, Stay on the Word, son. Together we’ll overcome this thing. And we always did.

If you act on the Word out of the sincerity of your heart and you steadfastly stay with the Word, Jesus will never let you down…no matter how many dumb mistakes you make. He proved that the night Peter jumped out of the boat in the middle of the lake.

Have you ever stopped to think about that incident? Peter hadn’t been praying or seeking God’s will before he did that. On impulse he just blurted out, “Lord, if it’s You, bid me come.”

What was Jesus supposed to say? He couldn’t very well say, “It’s not Me.” I suppose He could have said, “Wait a minute now. You don’t have the faith to get out here. You’d better stay in that boat or you’re going to drown for sure.”

But He didn’t say that to Peter—and He won’t say it to you. If you want to get out and walk by faith, He’ll get out there with you and pick you up when you start sinking. He’ll walk you back to the boat if He has to.

It’s better to risk being presumptuous than to waste your life in the boat of unbelief! If you have to, just dive into the water and say, “God, help me!”

Don’t let fear keep you from taking that step of faith. Come on, get out of the boat today!

Seeds of Destiny 16 May 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: The Impact Of Character On Destiny

Topic: The Impact Of Character On Destiny [Seeds of Destiny Wednesday May 16, 2018]

Scripture: A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1

Thought For The Day: Your character either facilitates or frustrates your destiny.

Character is a crucial factor for destiny fulfilment. A person’s character affects his or her destiny. Perception determines reception. How you are perceived determines how you would be received. What comes to people’s mind when your name is mentioned affects how you fare in life.

Beloved, the question is, when you pass, what do people think? A good name will do for you what money cannot do. When your name is mentioned in a place, is it dishonesty, arrogance, pride, lies, seduction, unfaithfulness or deceit that crosses people’s mind? If so, then that is not a good reputation!

But on the other hand, when your name is mentioned and people perceive faithfulness, dependability, reliability, humility, sincerity, honesty, commitment, etc., then your future is guaranteed.

Some people are yet to be married but when they pass, pride and arrogance are what people perceive. Many young men are unable to reach their destiny because anywhere they go, what people perceive is a disrespectful, rebellious, unfaithful, and an uncommitted attitude. Your name goes where you have not gone; your reputation travels ahead of you. When you arrive there, people have already heard about you, they already know you.

My counsel is, work on your character if you are interested in your destiny; work on what people think or know about you. Your character either facilitates or frustrates your destiny. Your character is either giving you acceleration or holding you in stagnation.

Receive the grace to possess positive character in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Your character either facilitates or frustrates your destiny.

Assignments:
1. Ask God to deal with every negative lifestyle in you.
2. Decide to change every wrong lifestyle.
3. Deliberately live out the fruit of the spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23.

Prayer: O Lord, deal with every wrong lifestyle in me and erase every negative perception of people about me. Give me the grace to put on the garment of positive character, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

New bishop of London highlights abuse, crime in installation sermon

She has become one of the most senior figures in the Church of England and the first woman to hold the post.

In her sermon, she spoke of the challenges facing London, particularly escalating knife crime, and referenced historical sexual abuse within the Church.

Bishop Sarah called for a culture that “challenges deference and the abuse of power” and for victims of abuse to be listened to.

She added: “We need to speak up for the whole of London, to work to challenge the violence and the crime that have led mothers to clean their own children’s blood from our pavements. Could there be a starker image or a more urgent wake-up call for all who love this city, who believe it can have an even better future?”

She also preached on the theme of “being subversive for Christ” – noting that 105 years ago this week, suffragettes placed a bomb underneath the same seat upon which she had been enthroned as Bishop of London.

Teens Open Heavens 16 May 2018 – Sacrifice

Topic: Sacrifice [Teens Open Heavens 16, May 2018]

Memorise: I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

Read: Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Bible In One Year: 2 Kings 15-17, John 6:1-21

MESSAGE:

As a child of God you are to offer service to God. According to Romans 12:1, your service can only be acceptable when you present your body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Your body is the temple of God, and as such, you are supposed to keep it free from sin of whatever form. You must avoid lying with your lips, you must avoid stealing with your hands, you must avoid walking with your legs to places that are not God glorifying, and you must also keep your body pure from any form of sexual sin.

To be a living sacrifice for God involves separating yourself from the world in order to have a beautiful relationship with God. It involves denying yourself of worldly pleasures and all forms of worldliness so that you can be pure and pleasing to God. Once you are able to achieve all these, your service will be reasonable and acceptable to God, and He will be pleased with you. How reasonable is your service?

Key Point: If you don’t offer an acceptable service to God by keeping your body pure and free from sin, your chances of being raptured are non-existent.

Hymn 7

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

DCLM Daily Manna 16 May, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Cleansing The Temple

Topic: Cleansing The Temple [DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday May 16, 2018]

Text: 2 Chronicles 29:1-11 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place” (2 Chronicles 29:5)

MESSAGE:

A soap manufacturer, who was an unbeliever, walked along the road one day with a preacher of the gospel. The soap manufacturer said, ‘The gospel you preach has not done much good, for there is still a lot of wickedness in the world and a lot of wicked people too.’ The preacher made no reply until they passed a dirty little child, making mud pies in the gutter. Seizing his opportunity, the preacher said: ‘Soap has not done much good in the world, I see; for there is still much dirt and many dirty people about.’ `Oh, well,’ said the manufacturer, ‘soap is only useful when it is applied.’ `Exactly!’ said the preacher, ‘so it is with the gospel.

In today’s passage, Hezekiah began his reign in Jerusalem and from the very first month began to undertake his programme of purifying the temple. He urged the priests and Levites to purify themselves and go into the house of the Lord to remove the filthiness placed there by preceding kings who had embraced idolatry.

Homosexualism, worldliness, idolatry, cultism and the likes are unbecoming of the house of God. Believers are the temple of God and they must get rid of all the dirt in their lifestyle and heart. The power of the gospel of Christ cleanses from all inward and outward sins. Therefore, let us cry unto God for cleansing after we have cleansed ourselves so that His temple (our body and His Church) can be the hallowed place it ought to be.

Thought For The Day: Cleansing of our hearts is the best way to kick-start a revival.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Wednesday, 16 May 2018 – Vessels Unto Honour

TOPIC: Vessels Unto Honour (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Wednesday, 16 May 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:20-21

MEMORY VERSE:

“That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;”1 Thessalonians 4:4

The MESSAGE:

In every house, there are different kinds of vessels. A vessel is any instrument or object which aids in the house, especially for storage or cooking in the kitchen. In modern days, pots, bowls, basins, jugs, mugs etc. all qualify to be vessels. In reality, we cannot use a leaking pot to store food items neither can we use a dirty pot to keep food items. Thus, a dirty vessel and a leaking vessel are vessels of dishonour. In the spiritual realm, men who are unclean spiritually cannot withhold the word of truth, they cannot be used by the Master of the House –Jesus Christ. Vessels are just synonymous with men. We have men of different attitudes, characters, spiritual states, etc.

We are commanded by the Scriptures to keep ourselves clean. We should be free from inward and outward sins. According to our motto in MFM, we should treasure and uphold holiness as the greatest spiritual insecticide.

Examine yourself today, x-ray your life and ascertain your status. You cannot be in between. You are either a vessel unto honour or a vessel unto dishonour. You can either be a clean vessel or a dirty vessel. You can either be a leaking vessel, leaking away God’s treasures and grace stored in your life or a whole vessel fulfilling your assignment.

Purposes are attached to vessels. A vessel is formed and used based on intended purpose. Are you fulfilling His purpose? Remember we are created to show forth His praise. Are you showing forth His praise or is Heaven weeping concerning you as a vessel?

It is not too late if you are a vessel of dishonour. You can become a vessel of honour today by simply accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and if you are a backslider, you can repent and return to the Lord. Ensure you are holy and righteous. Resolve always to be a clean, useful vessel in the vineyard of your Master.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Be clean and be useful, be dirty and be useless.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Every corruption in the vessel of your life is hereby purged today.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. O Lord, make me a vessel of honour, in the name of Jesus.
2. Blood of Jesus, purge my life, in the name of Jesus.
3. Holy Ghost, fill me with Your fullness, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I refuse to be a vessel of dishonour, in the name of Jesus.
5. I will make impact in my generation by fire by force, in the name of Jesus.
6. Unfriendly friends that will spoil my testimony, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. My life, hear the word of the Lord, advertise God’s glory, in the name of Jesus.

Archbishop of Wales urges Christians to not let charity scandals stop generous giving

The Most Rev John Davies’ comments came at the beginning Of Christian Aid Week 2018 which this year highlights the plight of the more than 40 million people displaced around the world, but who remain within their own countries.

Archbishop John, who is chair of Christian Aid Cymru, said in a video: “I want to make an appeal to you to recognise that, despite the behaviour of some, the good work goes on, and that good work needs your support, your generous support.”

In February, Oxfam staff members in crisis zones in Haiti were accused of paying for sex among the desperate people the group was meant to serve.

Most Rev John Davies, Archbishop of Wales

“That behaviour sadly disfigures, overshadows and sometimes even hides the ongoing wonderful work which charities like Christian Aid do day in and day out to help vulnerable, underprivileged and poverty-stricken people around the world,” Archbishop John said.

“This Christian Aid Week, if you see an event taking place locally, if an envelope comes through your door asking you to support that work, please be generous.”

In Haiti, thousands of people regularly experience some of the worst natural disasters on earth.

In November 2016, Hurricane Matthew wreaked yet more havoc, killing 546 people and destroying homes, businesses and infrastructure. Up…

Al-Qaeda Leader Calls for Jihad on Eve of US Embassy Move to Jerusalem

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri on Sunday urged Muslims carry out jihad against the United States.

Ayman al-Zawahiri said America’s decision to shift its Israeli embassy to Jerusalem was evidence that negotiations and “appeasement” have failed Palestinians.

In a five-minute video entitled “Tel Aviv is Also a Land of Muslims,” the Egyptian doctor who took charge of the global terror group after its founder Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011 referred to the Palestinian Authority as the “sellers of Palestine” while urging followers to take up arms.

US President Donald Trump “was clear and explicit, and he revealed the true face of the modern Crusade, where standing down and appeasement does not work with them, but only resistance through the call and jihad,” Zawahiri said, according to a transcript provided by the SITE monitoring agency.

He added that Bin Laden had declared the US “the first enemy of the Muslims, and swore that it will not dream of security until it is lived in reality in Palestine, and until all the armies of disbelief leave the land of Muhammad.”

He argued that Islamic countries had failed to act in Muslims’ interests by entering into the United Nations, which recognizes Israel, and submitting to Security Council and General Assembly resolutions instead of sharia (Islamic law).

Israelis were basking in national pride and pro-American fervor Sunday as tens of thousands marched in Jerusalem, a day ahead of the controversial US embassy move from Tel Aviv to the disputed city.

Palestinians readied for their own protests on Monday over the…

Lord Tebbit refuses to go to church services conducted by gay dean

Lord Tebbit, 87, told the Daily Mail: “I find it difficult to accept a sodomite as a member of the clergy who will, for example, be called upon to conduct marriage services. I will struggle to attend if he is officiating.”

The Tory peer has been attending  services at the cathedral for nine years.

He said he learned from a newsletter in March that Canon Joe was going to become the cathedral’s most senior official and is in a civil partnership with Rev Chris Eyden.

He added: “I just don’t see how he can decently read the marriage service. I stand by what is written in the Bible, which is the basis on which the cathedral was built. It says the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God.

“It cannot be a sin to be born homosexual. It is what one is. What I can’t accept is the activity. I use the expression sodomite.”

While Lord Tebbit disagrees with the cathedral’s decision, he said he will continue his financial donations to the church.

His comments have been met with backlash with Ivan Massow, the gay former Tory London Mayoral hopeful, calling for him to be expelled from the Tory Party.

Tory MP Crispin Blunt said: “Lord Tebbit may have a disagreeable surprise at how many cathedrals he has self-excluded himself from.”

A spokesman for the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich said: “It has been clear for more than a decade that clergy are…

‘Appalling’ church suicide bombings condemned by UN chief

António Guterres described the attacks, which killed at least eight people in Surabaya on Sunday, as “appalling” and offered condolences to families of the victims.

Police said the explosions were perpetrated by six members of one family – including two girls, aged nine and twelve – who all died. Islamic State has claimed responsibility.

Mr Guterres’ spokesman said in a statement: “He is appalled at reports that children were used to participate in the attacks.”

Congregations at the Santa Maria Roman Catholic Church, the Christian Church of Diponegoro and the Pantekosta Church were targeted in the blast. Forty-one people were injured.

Officers said the family had returned to Indonesia from Syria.

Experts have warned the estimated 1,100 Indonesians who have travelled to Syria to support Islamic State pose a threat if they return home.

Mr Guterres’ spokesman added: “The Secretary-General expresses his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift recovery to those injured.”
