Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

If you’ve been crying and asking God to run the devil out of your life, stop! The Bible says you’re the one who’s supposed to overcome the devil.

How? By resisting him. By rebelling against him when he tells you to do something and doing what God says instead! When Satan tells you some lie, contradict him with the Word of God. Oppose him. This verse says when you do that, he’ll flee from you. He’ll “run as in terror.”

That means everywhere you go, as you walk in faith and oppose the devil, darkness is pushed back.

So start pushing back that darkness. You can do it! The life of God is within you. Jesus Himself is living inside you. Everywhere you go, He goes. Every problem that rises up against you, every evil spirit that tries to influence your life, is coming up against God when it comes up against you.

All you need to do is become conscious of that. Begin now living your life moment by moment, knowing that the light of God is in you. The Word of God is in you. The Spirit of God is in you.

Live knowing that Jesus, the Son of God, is in you. Then watch the devil run!

Topic: Get Ready For The Wonders Of God [TREM’s Devotional Monday April 23, 2018]

“And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:” (Exodus 3:21 KJV)

Get ready for the wonders of God. The wonders of God are those things that keep you astonished, surprised, overwhelmed or marvelled; they are remarkable things. After over 400 years of slavery, toiling and suffering at the hands of the Egyptians, God fulfilled the promise He made to Abraham and delivered the Israelites by His strong and mighty hand. However, it didn’t just end there – He ensured that all the years of toiling were repaid. He did not allow His people to leave Egypt empty-handed. That is why I know that whatever was denied you, or stolen from you, not only will God grant you deliverance, He will also restore you. God will indeed do great and mighty things in your life.

Our text today says “And I will give these people favour in the sight of the Egyptians and when you go, you shall not go empty”. This season, you will not go empty. Get ready, there is a wealth transfer coming your way. Money is coming into your hands. God is raising end-time Kingdom financiers, and you are amongst them. Just keep doing what you are supposed to do. Don’t be afraid, just keep going. Something powerful is coming your way. God is releasing favour for uncommon financial breakthrough. Pack your bags, the time for advancement is now.

All barriers, roadblocks and speed limits that the enemy has put on your pathway to progress and prophetic destiny are dismantled supernaturally. Whatever has caused delay in your life, is terminated in Jesus’ name. You will recover all. Your gates shall be open continually. Your gates will never be shut day and night because the forces of the Gentiles are coming to you. This year, you will sing a new song. I bless you today in the name of the Lord.

Topic: The Secret of Peace [Our Daily Bread 23 Monday April, 2018]

Read: 2 Thessalonians 3:16–18, Bible in a Year: 2 Samuel 16–18; Luke 17:20–37

The Lord of peace himself give you peace. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Grace is a very special lady. One word comes to mind when I think of her: peace. The quiet and restful expression on her face has seldom changed in the six months I have known her, even though her husband was diagnosed with a rare disease and then hospitalized.

When I asked Grace the secret of her peace, she said, “It’s not a secret, it’s a person. It’s Jesus in me. There is no other way I can explain the quietness I feel in the midst of this storm.”

The secret of peace is our relationship to Jesus Christ. He is our peace. When Jesus is our Savior and Lord, and as we become more like Him, peace becomes real. Things like sickness, financial difficulties, or danger may be present, but peace reassures us that God holds our lives in His hands (Daniel 5:23), and we can trust that things will work together for good.

Have we experienced this peace that goes beyond logic and understanding? Do we have the inner confidence that God is in control? My wish for all of us today echoes the words of the apostle Paul: “May the Lord of peace himself give you peace.” And may we feel this peace “at all times and in every way” (2 Thessalonians 3:16).

Prayer: Dear Lord, please give us Your peace at all times and in every situation.

To trust in Jesus is peace.

Insight:

Paul, Silas, and Timothy were the first to share the gospel in Thessalonica. The response to the gospel of free grace in Christ was remarkably positive (Acts 17:1–4), but—as is often the case—the positive response to the gospel was accompanied by opposition and persecution (Acts 17:5–6; 1 Thessalonians 1:6; 2:2). Thus Paul was forced to leave the city of Thessalonica sooner than he had hoped (Acts 17:9–10). His concern for the new congregation there motivated him to write two inspired letters to that young church. As he completed his second letter, Paul stressed the peace that only Jesus Christ can offer (2 Thessalonians 3:16). The apostle was no stranger to trials, yet his confidence that everything would work out in God’s sovereignty gave him a deep, abiding peace that he wanted other believers to experience. The Prince of Peace is the source of the believer’s spiritual rest. Dennis Fisher

MESSAGE:

During a trial of faith, God wants to know how elastic your faith is. And so He brings about some situations that will take your faith beyond certain limits: sometimes, even to a breaking point. To remain intact, keep your faith in the Lord and always remember that His grace is sufficient for you.

However, there are many sufferings and hardships that come about as a result of a hidden sin or yet to be confessed sin. When you sin and hide it, you are only killing yourself inside little by little. The Bible says that any man who hides his sin will not prosper. There are many things you may have been praying for with no results all because you have refused to repent from that one hidden sin you have been indulging in. Never attempt to hide any sin from God; it is foolishness to hide a thing from the God who is everywhere at all times. Hiding things from God will disconnect you from Him. And the worst thing that can happen to any believer is to be disconnected from God.

Action Point: Confess any hidden sin to God and ask Him for the grace to live above that sin.

Thought For The Day: Being a soul winner empowers you to arrest the wickedness and restlessness of the enemy.

The Scripture is full of the accounts of men and women God used to impact lives and advance the Kingdom. It is important to know that none of these people ended their lives in emptiness and regrets.

Therefore, in our study today, we shall look at two vital benefits of impacting and changing lives for God:

1. Fruit bearing attracts the workmanship of God in the life of the fruitful
Our anchor Scripture reveals that God purges the soul winner and fruitful Christian. This means, if a person is a soul winner and reproduces himself for God, God is committed to purging him or her of all evil or affliction.

To purge means to remove from a person what does not belong to his system. It means flushing out of a person’s system all that constitutes a distraction to fruit bearing. If a person wants God to be his workman, the best thing to do is to include fruit bearing in his life’s endeavour.

2. Spiritual Impact Brings Spiritual Authority
Jesus sent out his disciples to preach, and when they returned, they testified that even demons were subject to them (Luke 10:17-19). As they went out to impact lives for God, they connected the power of God.

You see, assignment brings authority; working for God empowers you to deal with the enemy. Being a soul winner empowers you to arrest the wickedness and restlessness of the enemy. The things that will easily throw you down when you are not on assignment for God would be unable to hold you down when you are out to win souls for the Kingdom. Therefore, make up your mind to win souls for God.

Remember this: Being a soul winner empowers you to arrest the wickedness and restlessness of the enemy.

Assignments:

1. Avoid living without impact.
2. Be consistent in winning souls for God.
3. Make demands on God for the benefits of impacting lives.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for power to impact my world for You. I receive the courage to depopulate hell and populate heaven, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Text: 2 Chronicles 16:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand” (2 Chronicles 16:7)

MESSAGE:

Challenging and dire situations ought to lead people to God who alone has solutions to all of life’s troubles. Instead, many people take foolish actions, which in the end may bring temporary reprieve, but carry great consequences.

Judah had been besieged by Baasha king of Israel. In response, Asa king of Judah gathered all the silver and gold in the house of the Lord and paid Benhadad king of Syria, seeking to reopen an archaic defense pact between their fathers. Benhadad promptly came to his rescue, and attacked parts of Israel, forcing Baasha to abandon the city he had started building in the occupied territory of Judah. Gleefully, Asa seized the abandoned building materials and used same to construct two new cities in Judah. Just when the euphoria of his triumph over Baasha was all over Judah, the prophet Hanani came and rebuked him for acting foolishly in trusting a man, instead of God. Rather than sobering up and returning to the Lord, King Asa arrested the prophet and imprisoned him. He paid dearly for this as he developed a severe disease in his feet. Yet, even in his sickness, he turned to physicians and not to God. When he died of the disease, they buried him with great fanfare which would not affect his eventual destination in eternity.

It is foolish to believe that men, irrespective of their power and influence, can help you out of trouble. To act that way means asking God to hands off your affairs. Putting your trust in another man or thing may make things appear better momentarily, but in the long term, you will leave yourself open to the devil’s attack. This is why it is not just foolish but dangerous to act that way.

Thought for the Day: “They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.”

MESSAGE:

The name of Jesus is infused with so much power that it can deliver from every form of satanic bondage. The devil’s weapon of choice to lead men into bondage is temptation, but the use of the Name of Jesus in the place of prayer is able to deliver from this weapon of the enemy. Since the Lord has given us the go-ahead to pray in His Name for anything we need, deliverance from temptation falls under the category of things we can ask for, and we will surely be delivered if we do (John 14:14). Confirming this truth, our Lord Jesus Christ taught the disciples to pray against temptation (Matthew 6:9-13). Furthermore, at the Garden of Gethsemane, our Lord instructed His three closest disciples to put into practice what He had taught them on prayer in order to overcome temptation. In Matthew 26:41, He said to them,

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

There are many lessons we can learn from today’s Bible reading, one of which is a reality of life. The tempter has been at work right from the Garden of Eden and has not retired. Another lesson is that the tempter and his temptations are no respecter of any person; they did not even spare Jesus Christ. The Bible in Luke 4:1-2a says,

“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil.”

It is noteworthy that although Jesus Christ was full of the Holy Ghost, the devil still tempted Him. Thank God He defeated the tempter! I pray that you will not be overcome by the tempter in Jesus’ Name. Every believer in Christ should therefore take the Lord’s injunction to watch and pray against temptation very seriously. We can overcome temptation if we would pray against it in the Name of Jesus. We must be prepared to shield ourselves against the wiles of the tempter. Ordinary church members, workers, ministers and pastors are all the targets of the tempter. Learn from the experience of the disciples, shortly after Jesus Christ instructed them to watch and pray; temptation indeed came. Unfortunately, they were all asleep and they could not resist the urge to run away after their Master was arrested. One of the only two disciples who managed to follow closely behind even denied the master (John 18:15-17). I pray that the Lord will give you victory over any temptation that comes your way in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point: Father, please shield me from the arrows of temptation and deliver me from all forms of evil.
